I do not recommend Theory Salon after my second appointment. I was treated very disrespectfully by their staff. I also am unsatisfied with my hair color and cut. I stressed that I didn't want my hair color to be black I didn't want to look gothic. My hair is very sharpie black! My stylist had to rinse my daughters hair color and she asked the receptionist to help blowout my hair. The receptionist, or whatever she is was very rough with my hair, neck, head. It felt like whiplash‼ I confided to my stylist about how disrespectfully the receptionist was to me and I expressed for her to have the owner call me, No one everrrrrrr called! I will not go back, they have the ratings they have because they entice you to submit 5 star reviews for 30% off one product. The discount is not a discount after all because they mark up their price significantly! They also charge you by the minute if you are late! This is bad business! read more

I started going to theory salon in January 2021. I had recently moved from MS where I first went from brown to blonde in May 2020. So about 8 months after I initially went blonde with another stylist, I started seeing Alicia. At first, I loved her. I felt like she listened to exactly what I wanted. I did not realize at the time but after a few months of seeing her, I was having some breakage. Nothing was too major, and she had not said anything like "hey you are having some breakage, let's take a few months off or let's try a new technique." From the first appointment I had with her, there was a really weird technique she would always do. After taking the foils out of my hair while I was at the hair-wash station, she would brush through my bleached hair (with the bleach still sitting in it). It is my understanding that you are never ever supposed to brush through bleach because your hair is so vulnerable to breakage in that state. I decided to trust her expertise and never questioned her about this method. To make matters worse, she would not use a detangling comb. She would use a small, regular, hard bristle brush that looked like the ones you get at dollar tree to keep in your purse. The last time I went to her in May 2021, I was left absolutely traumatized. I had asked her if it was possible for me to achieve a lighter blonde. I didn't know if it would be possible without compromising the integrity of my hair. She assured me that it would be fine and that she would bleach every other piece instead of bleaching my whole head of hair (Thank God). I trusted her expertise once again because I figured she would be honest and upfront with me if she thought my hair would not be able to withstand the bleach. So once we get to the hair wash station, she removes the foils and starts brushing through the bleach. I can feel tangles being brushed through, and I'm cringing at the thought of my hair potentially breaking off. She never mentioned anything about any sort of excessive breakage during the hair washing, the blow drying, or when she curled my hair. Initially, I was honestly excited about the result. It looked very white--just like I wanted. I remember her saying "so let's wait 12 weeks until your next appointment just to get your hair back healthy again!" I was confused because I didn't think my hair was that unhealthy. But obviously, in hindsight, she knew something I didn't. She saw the breakage and did not tell me about it. And I'd like to note that I tipped her 18% that day. Because I didn't know how bad she had messed my hair up. And the fact that she allowed me to tip her so high knowing she severely damaged my hair is very disappointing to me. I went a couple days without washing my hair and then when I finally did, I noticed the breakage... chunks of my hair were missing. Not a couple strands here and there but full chunks. The once beautiful long strands of hair in the front of my head that used to go to the middle of my neck were now "bangs" that didn't even go past my nose. Almost every single piece of hair I grabbed on the top of my head was fried off. I was devastated. I finally messaged her saying I noticed some breakage and that I just wanted to go back to brown at this point. She didn't even acknowledge my comment about the breakage. She didn't say "I'm so sorry, I screwed up." She just said she could make my hair brown again. As the 12 weeks slowly passed, my confidence and as a result, my mental health plummeted. I wore my hair in a ponytail every single day and had to hairspray my new "bangs" down. I finally stopped giving Alicia the benefit of the doubt and decided I never wanted to let her touch my hair ever again. I went to two different stylists for a consultation to get opinions on what I could do to salvage my hair. BOTH stylists said that brushing through bleached hair (with the bleach STILL on it) is not normal at all. They said that every hair stylist knows not to do that because of how fragile bleached hair is. I am shocked that no one at Theory Salon has noticed her doing this or told her to stop. I'm concerned for her other clients at this point. I've been wanting to write this review for months, but it's really difficult for me to talk about. ***I want to note that there are probably very talented hair stylists at Theory Salon who really know their stuff. I don't want to take anything away from those people.*** I can't believe I spent over $300 for months of self-confidence issues. I truly hope Alicia can educate herself and own up to her mistakes. If my review can save at least one person from months of depression and low self-esteem, I'll be content. read more

Love Love Love!! This Salon is the best by far, I travel 2hrs just to get pampered by Erin and her amazing assistant Alicia , they are super sweet and skilled. My hair is dark brown, thick, porous. So getting it to a healthy blonde, is quite a task. Ive been amazed by their work, and how they've managed to get me to the shade of blonde I want, without the damage. The products they've advised me to use, make a huge difference as well. Will never use another shampoo other than Oribe on my hair. This is my second review for this salon and let me start by saying I drive 1 hour & 15mins to get here. Why you ask? This Salon is WORTH IT. I have always felt welcome, treated kindly and honestly every single hair stylist here is an artist. Receptionist are the sweetest and I have fallen in love with everyone here. Abigail is my girl and has been doing my hair since 2016. After getting to know the owner Erin of the salon, I have even more respect for this place. During quarantine she had so much happen to her place of business. Something no business owner wants to endure during a time when there isn't ANY business due to the shut down. So what did she do. She continued to kindly share her platform with education for her staff and others. She utilized her platform to show love, compassion & education to stop Racism. She comes from a place of love and honesty. There isn't one person she wouldn't take under her wing to help guide to a safe place!!
