The assistant manager Sadie was amazing today! She went above and beyond to fix an issue with an online order that was engraved and filled with an uneven layer of a wrong color. I called the company and the person on the phone told me that the issue can't be fixed because "the color is oil based and won't get off easily". So I decide to show up to this location anyway and Sadie removed the color easily and added the correct silver shade. I was so impressed and relieved as this is a bridal shower gift. She was so kind and fixed it in less than 10 minutes. Will order in person next time. read more

This store is small but has good options if you are looking for quality gifts for life's largest milestones (birth, engagement, marriage, anniversaries, etc). These items will last a few years as opposed to the more disposable gifts you might find at Hallmark. But mind you that you'll also pay a pretty penny. We had looked here for champagne glasses for our wedding and I remembered that there were some nice baby memorabilia. So I visited this store recently to get something (eg Christmas tree ornament, a momento box, a book) for my newborn. Options weren't quite right for what we were looking for - many items were toys for older kids, some items were small choking hazards that are not for babies but good for proud grandmas. I went to this store like I have in the past, and Art showed so much compassion without making me feel pitied during the ordeal. I just wanted to thank him for making an extremely difficult situation a little bit easier to handle, and for bringing a tiny bit of peace and joy to my girlfriend and her family at the time. As the other customers mentioned, if I could rate this negatively I would because of the people working at the stores, particularly the manager. Now let me start off by saying that the people on the corporate end of Things Remembered DID take good care of me, after I called in about the unbelievably bad experience I was having with their stores in this area. SO if you're interested in their products it is worth ordering online and dealing directly with them, DO NOT purchase in store until they resolve their issues with their staff and management. Here's the story: My husband and I were ordering knives to be engraved for his groomsmen. We ordered four that they had to order from their corporate office as they didn't have enough in store. No issue there, the knives arrived in a week and the engraving was great. We then added two more guys to the wedding party so went in to order two more knives. The first time we got the order was through the Del Amo store as the South Bay one only had one knife left. Picked up the knives in an hour, and the engraving was tiny and completely crooked. The engraving on one knife didn't even look like the other, let alone the original ones I ordered in the exact same font. However when I brought this up to the lady at the store, she says "Well it can never be exactly straight because the clip (on the knife) isn't straight." I was of course confused and asked her why I had four identical knives with high quality engraving that went straight across the clip. Once she realized that I had some form of standard she said she could redo one and order another (as they only had one left). Since she clearly wasn't the best at engraving I offered to buy the remaining knife and get it engraved at the South Bay location where they had another knife, and perhaps could get two knives that resembled the first four I had. Back at South Bay, I made the order and picked up the next day. The font size was larger this time, but the engraving was crooked, and the names were written in the OPPOSITE direction. We asked the store manager Liana, what we could do but she didn't think it was an issue that needed to be resolved, even though we had the original four knives there to show her that they were in the wrong direction. Finally she said they could order them again from corporate but it would take about a week. We explained the wedding was that coming Sunday so we only had a few days and she just shrugged and said "Well, they won't be here before the wedding." I mentioned that with the way they looked, it would be better for us to give the other two groomsmen something else instead of a badly engraved knife that they would clearly notice were not like the others. Not only did she not offer to refund the knives, but when we asked her if there's any way they could get them sooner she said there was nothing she could do about it. Finally my husband could no longer stand her sarcasm, lack of sympathy, and impatience and they began arguing about the severe lack of management and customer service at their store. To my amazement, she became even more rude, condescending, and then started making fun of the fact that my husband wasn't making any sense to her. Not being a very confrontational person I asked my husband if we could leave and I immediately called their corporate line. The lady on the phone apologized and said it was the third call they received about that location that day. When I explained the issue with the knives, she was horrified they weren't refunded, and asked to be put on the line with the manager. They spoke for a few minutes and when I got the phone back the lady from corporate said they would have the two knives for me in two days, just enough time before the wedding. Before we left I asked Liana why she couldn't have called corporate and asked for the knives to be rushed, but there was no answer so we left. Finally we picked up the knives, on time, engraved like the four first ones we ordered. None of it was worth the berating that we received at the store, but we were very grateful that lady we called was so understanding and resolved the issue quickly. I hope Things Remembered does some serious re-structuring and takes on a staff who will represent them better. read more

I came in to purchase a small pen from them, I was told it would be an hour and half to get engraved. Which was fine with me but I come in an hour and half after I left the store to pick up and the sales associate tell me they haven't even started it. This was really annoying since I waited in the parking lot for that amount of time and coming in to not have my item ready by the time it was promised was really unfortunate. I wanted to buy a memorable gift for my mother for Christmas addition to her gift card and decided to stop by this store that I have walk by so many times. I was supprise to find a cutest item for gifts. I choose a family tree in gold that had 15 small picture frame in a band form to use as frames. I love the idea of having the top of the tree engrave with personal messages with no additional charge. The counter tree and engrave was a total of $30. The store rep was nice and helpful. Also the store was nicely organize and clean. I would have gave the store 5* but I wasn't greeted or approach when I had questions about and item. read more

Went to this store for for my groomsman gifts. Got six very nice and very large glass mugs with engraving plates on them. The lady who took my order was very helpful and nice (don't recall name...) A couple days later, I went to pick them up and noticed that 4 out of 6 of the engravings had streak lines that connected some if the letters together. The gentlemen (Miguel) who was there noticed them with me and immediately took them in and re-worked 4 new ones to perfection within 30-40 min. He apologized and explained that the person who did them was about two wks new and just recently trained. I walked out with six perfectly good groomsman gifts that I was excited to give. People make mistakes. Forgive and forget. Especially when there are honest, good, hard working folks out there who take accountability for theirs and other's mistakes. Jordan held the items for me and expedited the engraving. It was already late in the day and she managed to get it out the same day! Upon our arrival, she was so sweet to me and my mother. The store is packed with tons of gifts and Jordan was really knowledgeable about all the products which were so helpful. She found the perfect matches for the people I bought for. This review comes with a mixed blessing. It started out bad, and turned out terrific! I brought in my husband's sterling silver baby cups that were now going to be gifted to my great niece and nephew in Europe for Christmas. The gal behind the counter was great with helping me, picking out fonts to be used on the two cups, and how to place the engravings. Each cup was to have the child's name one side and a message on the other side. A few days later I came in to pick them up only to discover that the engravings were all wrong, were not centered, and were incorrect (as the engraving was to be in a different language, I wrote it exactly as it should have been engraved, and they did it differently. There was no way I could give these cups as a gift and I was very upset. I did get my money back for the engraving. I came home, still upset, and promptly wrote a letter to the CEO of Things Remembered and immediately got a response and was contacted via telephone by a customer service rep, a district manager, as well as the gal who took my initial order. They told me they would buff out my cups and re-do them.....or, ,if I preferred, I could take them to a jeweler to have them buffed out and have them re-engrave it, and Things Remembered would reimburse me. So, after my initial bad experience, I was leery to have them do anything with the silver baby cups, so I took them to my jeweler who buffed out the cups completely, and re-engraved them. This was not cheap. But, I sent them the bill and they reimbursed me! I had a lot of email correspondence with the customer service rep (Lauren) and she was incredibly kind, patient and understanding considering how upset I was over the whole debacle. I have to believe that my misfortune was due to one employee who screwed up my order as everyone else at Things Remembered have bent over backwards to make this right. When all was said and done, Lauren sent me a little engraved keepsake gift which was definitely above and beyond the call of duty. They have redeemed themselves in my opinion and I wouldn't hesitate to utilize their services again! read more

So I searched around (A LOT) to find an affordable engraving company. I searched high and low, and most of the places that I DID find were mostly high and few low. So finally I found "Things Remembered" who just so happened to be located less than 2 miles from me. I am very pleased at how professional they were, not to mention very affordable. I had a gold brass 4 leaf clover engraved and it only took about an hour, as opposed to most of the places that I had inquired about taking days. I would definitely recommend them! Kathleen explained that although they would love the business, she felt that a mistake could be made that would potentially damage the knife. Came in for an engraving on the 22nd of December around 3pm was told to come back to pick up my item at 8pm. The engraving was all wrong. Give it, the engraving was done in Spanish, but I left a very clear and legible note as to what it was supposed to read. And made sure the associate understood and could read my writing, and still the engraving was all wrong. They refunded me for the engraving, and payed me out for the item I brought in (for this to happen you have to provide proof of purchase, so if you are bringing in a family heirloom passed down to you, good luck!). Still even with the refund it was just such an inconvenience. The item was a Christmas gift, and it was ruined. They still had the audacity to wish me a Merry Christmas, nah. This place is horrible. I called yesterday afternoon and specifically told the man on the phone that I was picking up my fiance's wedding band and wanted to know if they could engrave the inside for me. I told him the ring was made of tungsten, not silver or gold, and he said that they would have to see the inside of the Ring to know if they could engrave it. I let him know I'd be there around 6 and he said that would be fine. I walked in, with my fiance's wedding band, at 6 and a woman and a man at the register both scoffed at me and told me that they don't engrave rings at all. When I mentioned I had called two hours earlier and was told to bring it in so they could see the ring to determine if they can engrave on the type of metal it was, they just looked at each other and said "uh well we don't engrave rings at all." Horrible customer service, a horrible experience. I'll go anywhere else for a personalized gift before I ever step foot back in this store. The only reason they're getting one star is because it won't let me give them zero. read more

So I'm buying three items for my daughters graduation and there is a buy one get 75% off the next item sale. I was feeling fortunate.. Then when I pay, they take 75% off the lowest price of the 3 items. So if I had made 2 separate purchases one with the two expensive items and another with the cheaper one I would have saved $25 dollars. The manager told me it's store policy and so I called their corporate offices. Come to figure, their customer service department "Janet" said the same thing. This place is not the place to go to. I went to TR at the South Bay because the one at del amo closed. This young lady helped me out greatly, but while she was ringing me up her manager pulled her to the side and I could faintly hear her tell the sales associate that she wasn't meeting her sales goal and needed to sell me another item and a rewards card or she would be written up and terminated. So when she returned she asked me would I like to join the TR rewards program seeing she was the only AA in the store I figured her manager was picking on her. I decided to buy another item and the rewards card just so the girl didn't get fired. She tells me thank you and I proceed to call cooperate about the mistreatment of one of their employees. I'm still waiting on a call from the District manager. If you are of AA decent do not support this store. read more

This particular Things Remembered is a mixed bag. The sales staff are nice and friendly. They give good tips and advice. However, I'm not a fan of the management staff. They are curt and rude and have poor customer service. They are barely paying attention when ringing up your order and make mistakes. This is the second time I had to have my order adjusted because special discounts were not included on the bill by the management staff that jumped on the register. Honestly, you are better off going to the Things Remembered in Culver City where the staff, including management, is amazingly friendly and wonderful. I haven't tried the Things Remembered in Torrance but that one is probably more worth your time than this one. I don't go to this type of store often, but it's telling that every time I have come to the South Bay Galleria Things Remembered, it was a less than satisfying experience. read more

Zero stars! The lady that works there was in a pissy mood and on the phone making personal phone calls. Were sorry the customer is in YOUR way. So we brought in some things to be engraved. It costs about $55 to do, and when we picked it up she failed to tell us that stainless steel does not engrave well...we could barely see it. Again, we got attitude, and she said "I can color it it, but that costs extra". We were annoyed, so she did it for free. In short, this ruined my wedding gifts. We looked around the store, and one of salespersons said we could bring in anything to be engraved. read more

I came to this Things Remembered on Saturday 08/04/2012 and received the worst customer service I have received in a very long time. I came in because two weeks prior my daughter had received a carousel from her uncle purchased at the Things Remembered in Fresno, CA. Two days after he gave her the carouesel it stopped working properly so I borught it in to see if they could fix it or exchange it. I didn't have the receipt but had the original packaging and even gave his name and possible dates of purchase for the associate Leanna to look it up. She was very rude, not helpful at all. I was not trying to get over and get money back or anything of that sort and that's exactly how she was treating me. She told me she didn't believe there was much she thought could be done and she would email the district manager and would get back to me on Monday it is now Wed and I have heard nothing. I am very disappointed in the service received I will be contacting the store and the district manager today. All I want is for my daughter's gift to work properly. read more
