Bamboozle serves up Vietnamese cuisine in Seminole Heights, and I recently found out they have a weekend breakfast menu we needed to check out. We ordered two excellent items. The Spam & Eggs Breakfast Bánh Mi came on their house made bánh mì with fluffy eggs, crispy fried Spam, pickled veggies, and house scallion sauce. The Sausage & Egg Breakfast Bao featured house made nem pork sausage and fluffy eggs on a soft, pillowy fresh bao, also topped with house scallion sauce. For a sweet finish to all the savory bites, we ordered the Viet Style Beignets with condensed milk and roasted peanuts. Everything was washed down with a delicious Salted Sesame Vietnamese Cold Foam Coffee. It's been some time since I've visited Bamboozle - and it was the downtown location which is no longer there. This place...has been here, what!? 7 years or so? WOW.. My bad for not making it here sooner... I love their little outdoor area. And they even have an outdoor counter facing into the inside area. We sat at a regular table out there. The inside seemed a little squishy. Ok we ordered a lot of food... For starters we had the Okinawan purple potato dumplings...those were good... One friend ordered like tacos? And we also had beef garlic Bahn mi and a small beef pho.... All very good. They offer drinks in a cooler (bottles/cans, etc) but I opted for just plain water. We stopped by for a quick lunch at Bamboozle Heights which majority serves up a variety of classic Vietnamese dishes. Inside is really clean and has a very bright aesthetic. On the day we went (Tuesday) they had a half off special on Pho which was great! The beef pho was unfortunately just okay. Between the broth flavor which was decent, the quantity of meat being small (maybe because of the half off), and the noodle seemingly shorter than what I typically see, I was not too impressed. Bear in mind that this is coming from someone who grew up eating Pho religiously and has had more bowls of pho than almost any other noodle dish. There's simply a depth of flavor lacking in this broth that was the main achilles heel. If this is your first time having pho, then I think this bowl does it's job. But for a seasoned pho-eater, it fell short of where it could be. read more

This is my second visit to Bamboozle, but my first time at the Seminole Heights location. The last visit was at the Channelside location before it closed, but then it reopened under a different Yelp profile so my review was lost. Go figure. I do like that this location has more parking than its predecessors. Unfortunately, the clientele don't park in them very well which makes it difficult to find a space wide enough to park in during peak times. That's my only gripe. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. Place your order at the counter and they give you a flower vase with a number to take to your table. The food comes out hot & fresh. I love that the emphasis is on the fresh veggies in the Banh Mi sandwiches and the fresh rolls. They are nice & crisp. The bread is toasted and has a nice crunch. The grilled pork is plentiful & tasty with the pâte and mayo. It's a good sandwich. The Crispy Duck fresh roll is my favorite. I love that they include one of those crispy baked spring roll sticks inside the fresh roll. I've only had that one other time at Roll Play in the DC area. It gives it a nice crunch. Although, I may be imaging that the one at Bamboozle had one. I could have sworn there was a crunchy stick but my friend didn't get that same experience. The shrimp fresh roll is good, and I totally appreciate the size of the shrimp. I just wish it had that smoky char grill taste that I've had elsewhere in Riverview. Other than that, it was a good visit. The food was brought to our table in a good amount of time. I'd go back again if ever in that area. I just don't go to Seminole Heights very often. I keep saying that I'll try the pho next time. It's just too difficult to pass up the Fresh Rolls. Try to catch them when they're having their "Fresh Roll Wednesday" special. Literally one of my favorite restaurants in Tampa, let alone Seminole heights. They use fresh ingredients in their rolls. I usually get the lemongrass beef with the zesty sauce. Don't forget to add a boba, the jackfruit smoothie is yummmy! This location has difficulty with parking, so be mindful of that and maybe carpool. Though a goofy name, we left feeling the opposite of Bamboozled as the meals we had were delicious and a great overall experience. The thing I will come back for is the mangonada smoothie- the mix of the salty from the tajin with the tart fruity mango was fabulous. I got a bowl that was almost a Vietnamese version of a salad and it was so refreshing. We also thought the broth from the pho was wonderful, it tasted a little different from other pho I have tried. I was good with a small pho after long trip from other countries. I was arrive during noon time. There are several patron during that time. Not busy. I got small beef pho and traditional fresh roll. Both of them just ok. The broth is good for the pho. But the noodle is kind of 30% of the full pho with 3.5 slice of beef. Not much of veggie. The fresh roll is one but has good shrimp and grilled pork in it. Price wise is a bit high with the amount of food. Overall is just average. read more

My wife and I first fell in love with Bamboozle when they were downtown in a tiny little storefront. So when that closed, we were so upset! It hit every single time!! But then we moved to Tampa and found this newly opened location in Seminole Heights so we had to go! First off, IT'S SO CUTE IN THERE!! The food is just as delicious as we remember but now they have cocktails and smoothies too?! Every single thing we've had from there has been amazing. The pho is always on point, the okra is one of the best things I've ever tasted and you HAVE to try at least one of their cocktails. Update: We've been back a couple times in the past year and it seems like the flavors and quality of food have gone down a bit. Upon entering we sat ourselves and a young lady came over to let us know we need to order at the counter. She was nice enough to also bring us menus. The duck was not what we expected especially for the price. It was chopped sautéed pieces of duck meat. Almost seemed like a ground duck texture but wasn't ground. Seafood Pho- 4/5- it was flavorful and included mussels, shrimp and calamari. The shrimp seemed to be sliced down the middle making the portion of shrimp included appear to be more. Soursop Smoothie- 5/5- Great tropical taste and not overly sweet. A hint of sweetness which was perfect for me. Vietnamese Coffee with toffee- 5/5 the toffee was light, airy and had a cookie crunch to it. The coffee was perfect. Thai Tres Leches Cake- 3/5- the Thai tea flavor lacked. I was really excited to try out Bamboozle for breakfast but overall wasn't too impressed. We ordered a bunch of shareable plates and some iced coffees and overall the dishes were ok. Of all the savory dishes the spam breakfast bao buns were good but even those were fairly simple and almost tasted like they were lacking something. The beignets were tasty but the compote on top tasted very strongly almost like a wine jam. I enjoyed it for a sweet dish but my daughter did not like the jam topping whatsoever. We also go the breakfast bagel and I was really excited to try this but it was definitely lacking ingredients. It had eggs and spam inside but I was thinking it would also have a cream cheese which if it did I did not taste any at all. It was edible but very dry and if I went back I would not order it again. I tried the toasted sesame Vietnamese iced coffee and this was probably the most disappointing latte. It came last after we had almost finished breakfast and on top of that was not good. I was advised the coffee was super sweet so I asked if it could be made a little less sweet and it was extremely bitter not even the toasted sesame cold foam helped it. Probably would not go back for breakfast although some of the lunch dishes that were coming out as we were having breakfast did not look bad. I feel like the breakfast was overhyped on social media and def not worth it. One thing I will say the Taro Milk Tea was very good. It was the most expensive of the drinks so I'm happy at least my daughter enjoyed that. read more

It's a walk up and order establishment and they give you a table number for delivery to the table of your food. Upon walking in, the smell was fresh. Seating inside and outside available. Staff was friendly and able to explain the items on the menu. I ordered the passion mango tea which they make and bottle. The tea was extremely sweet! I had to get a cup of water and pour the tea into the water to dilute it. Also ordered the tofu yellow curry which was very tasty, just lacked more veggies. For apps we got the fried spring rolls, crab Rangoon and dumplings. Spring rolls were the clear winner. They were delicious! Crab Rangoon had an overpowering taste of lemongrass. Very strong, almost to the point of tasting somewhat fishy. And the texture of the cream filling needs to be thicker. The dumplings were raw! They were cold inside. You have to walk up to the counter to place your order and pay up front and if you're dining in they will give you a small water filled bottle with a # for table numberings the dishes are cooked someone will bring to your table. All the dishes looked good and the presentation was well thought out. I did find the flavorings all lacked a bit on papaya salad, banh mi sandwich. The crispy lemon grass wings were a bit too salty with it being a watery sauce. The crepe was a bit soggy and did not hold up and just fell apart, only some edges was crispy. We ordered two small pho (one beef and one chicken) a bbq chicken fresh roll, a poke fresh roll, and the banh mi tacos. When I say everything hit the spot, it really did. Both phos were very flavorful. They give you hoisin and hot sauce to flavor your own broth, and bean sprouts, lime, etc to add at your discretion. The fresh rolls indeed tasted very fresh and were very filling. The tacos were amazingly crisp and the pickled daikon and carrots added the perfect tang. My only complaint (if you really want to call it that) is that the tacos tend to fall apart after one bite, but that's because they're so crispy! The ambiance was really nice. The hangryness was kicking and my guy and I needed to find somewhere to eat fast! Bamboozle came to the rescue, thanks to a quick google search of the area. This Vietnamese style cafe was an absolute delight with delicious fresh and fast food. We kicked things off with a fresh summer roll with shrimp. The peanut dipping sauce was perfect and the roll was delicate and delish! We absolutely should have gotten two of them as I regret having to share the one. He's lucky I love him. My guy's banh mi sandwich was good with warm crusty bread, perfectly grilled chicken, and crisp fresh veggies. He also had the tropical fruit smoothie which was an explosion of lychee and very refreshing. I had the Saigon salad with shrimp which was nice and light, but a generous portion. For dessert we snagged a vegan/gluten free chocolate chip cookie. He didn't care for it it, but that worked out for me because I loved it. Sweet and salty and everything nice! All in all it was a great Sunday lunch and a nice departure from the typical heavy brunch fare that Sunday's are renowned for. I grabbed a vegan pho to go but will have that later so no comment on that yet.
