Unfortunately I live super far so it's taken a while to come here but we had a Side Splitters show so we stopped in beforehand for dinner around 6pm. It wasn't too busy (but it picked way up!) and food came quickly. We got bun Bo and I think it was Phnom Penh style mi or something. Tasted like mi/hu tieu. It was really good. Stopped by here today on a Sunday afternoon. The Yelp reviews were decent and it's close to our house so we decided to try it. We started with fresh rolls and crab rangoon. Both were delivered quickly and were fresh. For taste I would give them a 4 . I like more basil in my fresh rolls and real crab in the crab Rangoon. For the main course we both got vermicelli noodle dishes. I had grilled beef. The meal was reasonably good and the service was My only complaint was that it was just ok . This has been the best pho place in Florida that I've been to so far. Florida's water has a muggy aftertaste and often times the tap water AND pho broth has that smell. But here the pho tasted delicious and aromatic. It's very quick to come out. The ambiance inside the restaurant is cute especially in the evening it gives a romantic vibe. There isn't much on the table but you can ask for chili sauce and other add ons and the workers are very sweet and bring it to you with no problem. The only thing that I didn't really like was the meat had a little bit of a smell/after taste to it. But the broth was the star of the dish. We came here for lunch and were immediately greeted and seated at a booth. We got the spring rolls (soft) and the crab Rangoon to start our meal. Both were very tasty. I wish there had been a little more basil in the spring rolls. I then got the sautéed beef and onion vermicelli bowl. It was tasty and there was a good amount of beef in it. There is nothing I can point to that was bad about the meal, I have just had slightly better versions at other restaurants. The Basics: Simply Pho is located in Carrollwood off of Dale Mabry. The food tastes fresh and the service was good. The restaurant is nice inside and there is plenty of room, so a wait is unlikely. Things I like: I enjoyed everything I ordered. The Vegetable Pho (I got it with beef broth) was very good and I particularly enjoyed the Vegetarian Spring Rolls. Things I didn't like: I enjoyed all items I had, but I do believe the Pho at Saigon Bay in Temple Terrace is more flavorful and I prefer it. I've worked in Elmhurst Queens New York for over 40 years. Many don't know that Elmhurst is one of New York's three chinatowns. That being the original in Manhattan and the other in Flushing. I at at Simply Pho the other night and I have to say that the food was some of the best I've ever had. I noticed that they had duck soup. Don't always see this in a vietnamese restaurant so I tried it. Spot on. Tender and tasty duck. The broth and noodles hit the mark. We started with fried dumplings and spring rolls. Solid My friend had a chicken lo mein type of dish. I did not try it, but it looked good. We also had fried rice, just because. Very good. Service was excellent. I've been to several Simply Pho's around the country and have enjoyed them all. This location however, is not my favorite. I love pho and having the right ingredients is a major part to the unique flavor that the Vietnamese noodle soup offers. Chili oil and fish sauce play a vital role in completing a desired taste I have learned to love. Cleanliness of the broth is also huge, without good broth it's hard to enjoy and really taste the authenticity of the soup. I found while eating the pho here the broth seemed to get cloudy and thick. Which to say it wasn't bad I still enjoyed it although just not as much as other places. Their fried egg rolls were really good and the service was fantastic. I felt the reviews I looked at prior summed this experience up fairly well but will provide my insight as well. We felt really unsure as to if we'd ever desire to come back and try again, but at the moment I don't think we would. To start, we got a $5 off $25 coupon in the mail, and it claimed to be the "best Vietnamese food in Tampa" so we took a chance and called it date night. Upon arriving, it was confusing. No guidance given and a guy who was a little misleading on if he was greeting or fully seating us. It was really slow when we arrived around 5:30-6 Saturday night, and he got us into a booth quickly. The place was small inside, though we never made it too far back, it appeared to be pretty tight for the dining area but suitable for their level of business. It wasn't overly cold in there as some reviews suggested, and I'm typically a cold person and was dressed for summer weather. I didn't feel the need for a cardigan or jacket. We ordered a large hot sake to share, and I got a sprite as a chaser. The Sprite had good amounts of syrup and the ratio tasted well set, weirdly one of the better fountain sodas I've had recently. We ordered the steamed dumplings as an appetizer and they were quite tasty! No complaints there and found the dark sauce on the table tasted almost better with them than the sauce provided. For our meals, I ordered filet mignon pho, which is the first time I've ever tried pho. He ordered the shaking beef and stated his reasoning was "I have no clue what it is as it doesn't tell me, but I hope a chefs special will be really good if they enjoy making it." His meal came out significantly before mine and almost looked and tasted like Americanized Chinese food, which he's not a fan of (but I am). He warned me that the beef was really over cooked and hard to bite and chew threw. The beef was also not cut well (as shown by his Barrel of Monkeys like picture) and we were not provided much with utensils so he had to saw through it with either his teeth or a fork. While the sauce was tasty, the beef was borderline inedible and tasted like it sat in a hot pan on the line cooking for days and not made to order, which would be easy to do and worthwhile for how good the sauce was. My pho I wanted to like it more than I did. The portion sizes are in fact huge, and I kept that in mind when ordering. It seems that the large portions may only apply to the pho though. I got a plate of toppers with little idea as to what some of it was but added what I knew I'd enjoy. He told me it had an odd flavor to it, and while I was hopeful it was that flavor that ruined the whole experience for me. I kept getting notes of warmth, like perhaps cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice. It threw me off majorly and was slightly off putting with the contents of the dish (and mixed with lime). After further deliberation we feel that it could be saffron potentially, but that's a flavor I'm less familiar with so can't say for sure. Overall- large pho portions, not really cold inside, confusing initially and slower service. Pros: the alcohol menu, wait times, and the dumplings. Cons: food quality, slow service. As I said prior, I'd be hesitant to eat here again but if we did, we'd both order something different as neither of us were pleased with either entree. If this is the best, we need to raise our bar. read more

You can tell that all of the broth in their pho and other soups are cooked very well because they have a great depth of flavor. This is our first time visiting here and we love the food especially how close the location is from our place! The waitress was super friendly and food was brought out within 10 minutes. The space is a bit small so you might have a short wait during the weekends but we were able to get a table right away during the weekdays. So we found a Pho restaurant that's close to us! The location isna bit obscure and wouldn't have known about it without others telling us where it was since we dont drive down this road often. The restaurant is relatively small and has a nice hole in the wall feel to it. So I'll start off with what I didn't like, which is why they only got 4 stars. We walk in and there is a cashier counter in front. To the right there looks to be a station with menus. We assume we have to wait to be seated, which after 5 minutes of no greeting s from anyone was the case. We were seated, but it took another 15 minutes for a server to come take a drink order. At least we had time to figure out what we wanted. The good...the food of course! We got an order of steamed dumplings, a Pho special, and a wonton soup. The dumplings were good, and the sauce gave them some good complementary flavor. The Pho special was very good. The beef broth combined with the tripe, tendons, sliced beef and meatballs was outstanding. I just added some sriracha and I was content. My wife had the wonton soup, which was also very good. I wasnt sure what broth they used but it wasnt beef broth, but it was much better than others that we've had. The noodles in both were also a little softer than al dente, which is how we like it. Other places, the noodles tend to have a slight crunch to them (undercooked), but not here. When we were done the server packed our leftovers for us. Keep in mind many of their dishes have a regular and XL serving size. Regular was enough for us! We then promptly cashed out and were good to go. So at the end of the day, will we be back? As long as we as re not pressed for time, most definitely! If you have a party larger than six, be aware seating could be a problem. This place is definitely organized for 4 or less...good date night restaurrant! read more

Pho is one of those great dishes I've discovered in recent years that hits the spot when it's cold. Simply Pho and Grill is located in a plaza on the corner of Fletcher and Dale Mabry. It is between Core Life and the Hibachi place. I went at night and while the restaurant is a bit small, it has a sleek look. The coolest thing is the colored rectangular panels on the walls/aisles. It makes it look like a nightclub or a Riddler deathtrap from the Arkham video games. My server was nice. I decided to get seafood pho since that's something Ive never had before. I got my food in a few minutes with the usual accoutrements of sliced fresh jalapeno, mint, and sprouts. The only nitpick is that they don't have regular forks at the table. They have a soup spoon and chopsticks. When I use chopsticks, it's like I have the proficiency of a stroke patient. I simply use the soup spoon for broth and fork for the solid matter. My pho was served hot with lots of big shrimp, scallops, and imitation krab along with the usual vermicelli noodles in broth. I thought the broth was good and the serving was roughly the same as places like Saigon Deli or Pho Quyen. Since it was seafood, the cost was $11 for a regular. Regular beef was around around $9. The broth isn't quite as good as Saigon deli, but better than Quyen. I'd give it a 8/10. The only negative was that my server pretty much left once I got my food and I couldn't get a refill of my soda or my fork until I batted my eyes at another server. Thankfully I got those and another brought my bill with due haste. Overall: A solid place to get pho and it's nicely designed so you can bring a date too! read more

I was craving Pho and originally wanted to try out another place but they were closed so I asked for Yelp . The place was smaller than it looked in the photos. The service was great and the food was good. I was disappointed that they didn't have the grilled pork roll that typically order from other Pho places. However, they did have the Pork Sausage Roll which was a good replacement for my craving. We also had the shrimp roll which was ok. I ordered the not so typical or traditional Pho of not having meat. I told my boyfriend how perfect the soup base was because it wasn't too salty or bland...just right! I visited this spot on a Tuesday a little before 7 PM. It was not busy at all and I was seated immediately. I did, however, end up waiting about 10 minutes before I was served, which I thought was unusual. I ordered the oxtail pho and the pork egg rolls. The oxtail pho was delicious. The noodles were very rich and thick but felt so soft and warm when you took a bite. The oxtail was not super tender but the flavor from the marrow was so succulent (if you're a fan, of course). This combined with the other ingredients made the broth so inviting. There was also a bit of sweetness to the broth that I really enjoyed but it had the perfect amount of flavor. On another occasion I ordered the filet mingon pho and their ribs along with pot stickers. All amazing except the ribs were a little overcooked in my opinion. Update: I visited again on 01/19/2022 and had their braised duck noodle soup. If you are a fan of duck you have to try this dish! If you have never had duck you have to try this dish! Horrible! Came here with my family and they brought out one plate at a time and after 50 minutes when they initially served, the 3rd plate arrived. There were only 2 other tables and they were finished eating. I'm not sure why they even have the place open to customers. It was also very strange that the numerous waitresses just kept walking around the restaurant in circles. I'm sure they have great step counts but it doesn't speed up the food any. Maybe they should have helped in the kitchen instead. read more
