These are just some of the things that make this dive bar a good place to swing by on a night you just want a good ol' drink with a friend. This place is not too loud, so you can totally carry a conversation or rant about the game. The service is average, not bad. If you sit at the bar the bartenders are very attentive and talkative. The food is delish! For your convenience they have a "food window" where you can order and pay. I have tried their nachos and jalapeño poppers, both were fresh (hot) and crispy. Their beer selection is good and you can go big and opt for their huge mug. One of those big schooners and you're set! I like their decor...a picnic style bar with wooden picnic tables to sit. I believe this bar is cash only....not sure. They have an ATM inside the establishment for your convenience. Coldest beer in Long Beach! Or so they say :p Just kidding the mugs were icy cold lol. Extremely spacious divebar on the cusp of Lakewood and Long Beach - technically considered Long Beach! I stumbled across this place by accident and glad I did. Beer was cold and bartender was very friendly. I got a 34 oz of 805 for $9. Total steal! That 34oz beer took me a solid 1.5 hr to finish but so yummm! They don't have a full bar, so no shots or mixed drinks. They did however have a very small selection of wine. They have plenty of pool tables here, no need to fight over who plays next because they have 4 or 5 tables. Jukebox is available to play your favorite jams - please leave your bad music @ home though haha. All in all this place was very relaxing. It is a dive bar so please don't walk in with the highest of expectations. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but if I'm ever in the area again I'd grab a cold one! Cheeers! :D read more

Beer bar with cold beer, a good selection, a hit or miss kitchen, a few pool tables, shuffleboard, darts a decent jukebox a big screen TV with smaller TV's scattered about. Bring the right attitude, and they'll make you feel like a local. The quality of the food depends on who's on the grill, it's never been bad, but isn't always great. If you happen to like whatever beer is on special, it's about the best buy in the county, otherwise the prices are about what you'd expect. I just wish I lived a little closer, because this isn't a destination bar, unless your team just finished their softball game close by. read more

It is not fancy (at all) but it delivers with ice cold beer and good burgers if you want to order from the tiny room kitchen. They have a cash bar I think still but that could have changed. Sat 9/14 at 530pm. I laughed so hard & left after 1 beer. The customer service literally sucked & is actually the reason I'm writing this. Date & myself sat at the bar. Bartender had maybe 8 people at the bar including us. Most had already been served. We each ordered a beer. The bartender was 100% & completely rude for literally ZERO reason. Thirsty Isle is "cash only". This is 2019. Even drug dealers take venmo & paypal... But not a well known local bar? I went to the atm & got cash. Came back & tried to pay before we moved to a table because the 2 guys at the bar were talking very loudly & disrespectfully about, Asian p$#%y. I asked how much I owed & she said she said hold on. She took the order of the 3 sheets drunk regulars who A. Still had beers in their hands & B. Obviously werent going anywhere, & C. Thought it was charming talking just loudly enough for everyone to hear how much they enjoy screwing Asian women. The bartender was more of a joke than a bartender & walked around taking new orders & cleaning the bar for a while. Once done with literally every single other person she comes back ready to finally charge me. I said nothing & laughed a bit at the situation. This is when her frantic & strange "tweaky" behavior really kicked into high gear. She must not have liked like the fact that I laughed & started making excuses for keeping me standing there for 5 extra minutes. & at this point I've said not one word to her. She charges 17.50 for a schooner & a non alcoholic beer. Then VERY RUDELY & for no apparent reason starts a kind of tyraid about how its not her priority to collect my $ when other people are in need of service. I literally said nothing as I didn't care. I wasnt even upset at that point. I only considered writing this when she decided to act like a child & throw herself a tiny lil temper tantrum. Again, I said Not. One. Word. I live near & used to come a lot. This was a stark reminder of why I stopped going there. & why I will without hesitation be very vocal to the neighborhood about how they treat their customers & what the environment is currently like. This place seems to have slipped into a complete wreck. TI has become some strange weigh station for transients & junkies. Reminds me of the afterlife waiting room from beetlejuice. Only thing good about this place is, the food. Do yourself a favor & order it to go. read more

WORSE BAR EVER!!!!!I went to this bar on Saturday night. The Restrooms and places looked and smelled horrible. Despite this I wanted to give this bar a chance. So I went to the atm to take out money, since it was a cash only bar. Well the atm didn't give me the money i withdrew from my account. I went to talk to the owner to ask for help as I wanted the money I withdrew. I showed him my bank statement through my phone. He immediately become hostile, asked me to show him the receipt, well I didn't have a receipt as the atm machine didn't even give me my money, so why would it give me a receipt? He threw the receipt at me so I walked away. Save yourself a bad night and don't go to this bar ever. read more

Ill admit this is a nice spot. However the other day I was with my girlfriend and another friend playing pool. We had set our drinks on the side. My friend was finished completely empty with his drink. The bus boy takes all 3 of our drinks without asking and before I noticed that all 3 were taken it was too late. My gf talks to him and he says your bf didn't say anything when he saw me take them. That's because there was one empty. I wouldn't assume you would take one empty and two almost half full beers away. And he said there's nothing he can do. So it messed up the night and we left. read more

Recently in the area and decided to check out the place. This is a dive bar. Pay cash at the bar for drinks and pay cash to the cook for the food. There are pool tables, some games and tv playing sports. Five stars because I expected nothing more then a classic dive bar and that is exactly what it is. The wings & food aren't the same since they let go of the brothers. Poor decision on management, why let a good thing go? The wings used to be fiery burn your mouth hot, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and saucy! Now, we asked for the same and got a mild, soggy batch of wings...with barely any sauce. Also, when the brothers were cooking, we were able to order a full order of wings, with 2 flavors. Now, the new cook says he cannot do this for us. Family owned and doing a great job of keeping the locals happy in beer heaven. Best bar food around. Try the tacos they are really amazing. I have not had a bad meal that came from that kitchen. They also have St. Pattys day specials, look for them. This family also owns 2 other local bars, one is a Irish pub that has more of a party thing going on and that's ok if that's what you want. It's the kind of place you would take friends that are from out of town. They have a full kitchen and a full service bar with great food as well. The other, in Signal Hill, is more of what I call a "daytime" bar. The kind of place you sneak into in the middle of the day for "lunch".
