This tomato bisque had one job and still clocked out early. Tastes like someone opened a can of San Marzanos, warmed it up, and called it a day. Nice acidity... and that's about where the story ends. Asiago barely showed up, basil fully ghosted. The real MVP? The cheese crouton. Soft, pillowy, actually flavorful--felt like it wandered in from a completely different (better) soup and did everything it could to carry the team. Respect. Honestly, the bread here is good--that crouton proves it--so sandwiches are probably your best bet. Unfortunately, even the crouton couldn't save the soup. Drove by this spot one evening after catching a movie with a friend, and for a "deli" it sure was poppin! Last week, I made it a point to order from them through DoorDash and walked over during my break... Let me tell you (and it probably is no secret) that my sandwich was next level! I ordered the Turk-Ado Aioli which is a turkey sandwich that includes shredded iceberg & arugula, avocado spread, herbed aioli, tomato & swiss cheese. I selected the sourdough bread (all their bread comes from Hey Brother Baker which I think is very neat). I also added their Elote Cesar salad without the cotija and it was so delicious and fresh. You can tell they really use quality ingredients. There are two parts to the Joint; the corner is a bar/deli with in-house seating at the counter/bar and a couple of small tables, and they have a variety of beers on tap. Right next door is where you can pick up mobile orders. It's set up as a little market/bottleshop where you can pick up snacks, refrigerated goods and all sorts of canned craft beers. I'll probably make it a point to try many of the sandwiches with different breads I'll also need to go after work hours/during the weekend to try the different beers they have on tap and in the fridges. read more

We landed here by mistake, on a late night adventure (late night by parents of toddler's standards) we went looking for pizza. We knew that our 3 year old we eat pizza, but once we got to the pizza joint we realized it was 21+. Not wanting to wait the 18 years it would take to get our toddler in, defeated we just went looking literally anything. Then we stumbled here, the sandwiches looked so good we went for it. My hubs got the LB grinder, I got sticky bird, and that picky toddler, good ole grilled cheese. Very happy that I've been able to try Anna's recently. I've walked past many times. It's been on the list for a while! I've only ordered online, so I can't speak to the in person experience. So far, I've tried the Bodega breakfast burrito, iced matcha latte with honey + oatmilk, and the Spicy Mo Yo, Sticky Bird, and Neo BLT sandwiches. I've also tried the salt and vinegar tots and the brussle sprouts. The matcha latte was ok, but the breakfast burrito was one of the best. I'm usually not a breakfast burrito person because there's usually away too many eggs or potatoes for my liking. I felt this had ingredients perfectly distributed and was hearty, but not greasy and too heavy. Everything tasted fresh. All the sandwiches were great. I honestly think the bread quality and in-house sauces seal the deal for . They have unique additions to their sandwiches that make them one of a kind. That BLT is not your average BLT! My breakfast obsession has NOW been taken care of! Anna's Joint is the quality of fast casual breakfast I've been yearning for in the neighborhood! I ordered to-go and grabbed an Iced Latte and Good Morning LB breakfast bagel - loved them both! I added a pump of caramel syrup and opted for oat milk for my latte which paired nicely with subtle notes of cardamom in the espresso. The Good Morning LB on a cheese bagel was hearty and just crispy goodness. I enjoyed the velvety yolk of the fried egg, the thick texture of the bacon and the perfectly portioned amount of avocado. Yummy, and designed to be intact in every bite. Excited to cap off my Saturday morning walks with a stop by at Anna's! The person who created this sandwich climbed into my brain and picked all of my favorite things and put them all into one sandwich. The #9 Spicy Mo, Yo has turkey and salami (my favorite sandwich meat combo), smoked gouda (my favorite cheese), iceberg and caesar (my favorite salad), pepperocini, pickles, pickled red onions, and arugula (various other sandwich toppings i enjoy). After the first bite I knew this had made the right choice. I tried a bite of the De Rossi, the burrata was magical. If I would change anything about my sandwich it would just to be to add burrata because who doesn't love burrata on sandwiches. The icing on the cake was their selection of breads, I chose focaccia (my favorite type of bread). The focaccia was so fluffy and delicious, it is a top tier sandwich bread. I think their breads are baked in house, they are available to purchase individually. The market has a lot of alcoholic beverage options but when I went to buy a wine spritzer I was told I wasn't allowed to drink it on premises so I grabbed a sparkling apple juice instead. The baked goods case was very very intriguing, I would definitely give the sticky toffee blondie a try next time... Their munchie menu options also sound delectable... The service is friendly and fast, the crowd is full of locals who clearly love the place, and the rotating event like karaoke, game nights and paint & sip give it a true community feel. Honestly, every city should have a spot like this. For food, we started with the Salt & Vinegar Tots and the Italian Wedding Soup. The tots were crispy and satisfying, though I wished the salt & vinegar flavor came through a bit stronger. The soup was comforting and well executed no complaints there. For mains, my girl ordered the #11 Turk-Ado Aioli, and I went with the #9 Spicy Mo Yo. Both sandwiches had solid flavor, but the bread was so hard and tough that it distracted from the experience. I also found myself wishing the flavors had more punch to match the great vibe of the place. Overall, the food is solid but not the star here the atmosphere is. I was actually trying to head over to Coffee Station, but the rain started picking up and I ended up stumbling into Anna's Joint on Pine instead -- easily one of the best accidental finds I've had in a while. I ordered the Pine & 5th on sourdough (half sandwich) along with a tomato soup, and the combo was perfect for a rainy day. The Pine & 5th comes stacked with roast beef, tomato, arugula, garlic aioli, mustard, and onion jam -- and let me tell you, those last two ingredients are what really make the whole thing stand out. The garlic aioli adds that rich, savory kick, and the onion jam brings in a sweet depth that balances everything out. Every bite was flavorful without being heavy. The tomato soup was the ideal pairing: warm, savory, and just comforting enough to tie the entire meal together. Simple, but done right. Anna's Joint itself is a cozy little café. Seating is limited, but it's connected to a bar next door, so you can spill over if the café side gets crowded. They also have a grab-and-go option, but honestly -- I recommend sitting down and enjoying your meal here. It has the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to slow down for a minute. Cute deli in downtown, I drive by all the time and made time to stop by for lunch after a photoshoot. From the street, it's vibrant and welcoming. Inside is cozy and full of interesting snacks, beverages, plants, and some random items that tie in local culture. I was underwhelmed with no greeting when I came inside, despite the only other customers being a couple inside looking at the menu. I knew what I wanted to try so I got some chips then got in line behind the couple and took in the decor while I waited. The cashier took their order and then walked away, maybe beginning their order, not sure as there were 2 other people behind the counter who seemed to be handling the making of food. I waited another several minutes before the cashier came back and took my order. She was pleasant, the interaction was quick, she did not try to upsell me on a drink, I probably would have gotten a coffee as their espresso machine was pretty sick and I'm sure makes a great cup. I waited for my sandwich. While I waited I overheard the woman who was handling the food venting about a "b*tch." I wasn't sure if I heard correctly at first but she repeated the word several times and then I was sure. I don't mind venting to your coworkers but I was on the opposite side of the kitchen area and could hear her as she continued to talk about this person she kept referring to as "b*tch". It got quite busy as I waited for my order but the cashier brought me my food and I decided to take it to the beach to enjoy on a picnic blanket. The De Rossi was delicious, it has meats and cheese I've never tried, packed tight with a generous amount of everything. The good chip company spicy jalapeño chips were also great, finally some spicy jalapeño chips! Paired so well with the sandwich. Overall, Anna's Joint is cute, close by, has tasty food, and I was hoping it would be a pleasant place to bring my laptop for working outside of the apartment but I'll likely just stick to to-go and I look forward to trying more fresh sandwiches, maybe a coffee too next time. As someone who works with clients to provide a service, have worked in the food industry, and retail, I think the customer service and mindfulness of everyone's surroundings could use some work. read more

I stopped in here for a late lunch after arriving in Long Beach and checking in to my AirBnB. The location is great just off of Pine, and it seems situated between the downtown buildings and close to the residential areas which makes it a perfect spot to be able to walk to and hang out. There is a patio open to the sounds of downtown or the interior which is set up kind of like a diner with counter service and a few tables. The atmosphere is different for both so it's great to be able to choose which you want to have that day. The server behind the counter was welcoming, and she gave me a paper menu to peruse. There is a QR code as well to be able to see the menu and drink offerings. There is a great variety of sandwiches and a decent variety of salads. The draft and can beer menu is extensive and has some incredible options. I chose to have a half De Rossi sandwich on sourdough and potato salad with a wit beer to drink. The sandwich was incredibly delicious! Whoever came up with the combination to put those items together did it right. I had a hard time choosing the sandwich given the other great options as well. The potato salad was creamy and had a yummy bite with good size pieces of potatoes. The wit beer was also really good. I highly recommend trying this place out for some good food and good beer. There is also a shuffleboard table and weekday events like trivia and game nights. read more

The only reason I am writing this is because of the service I experienced here. I've ordered here a few times and really enjoy the sandwiches and salads I've tried. The focaccia bread is so good. For the salad I asked for the salad dressing on the side and no almonds because I have a nut allergy. Well when I walked in to pick up my order I overheard one of the workers clearly irritated about the modifications I had asked for. Not sure why it was a big deal but she said another bitch order wanting all these changes.
