Gosh, this place is the best place to go after you get off work and want to get a couple drinks with a co workers--along with the scum that inhabits this place. First off, this place is a dive bar-- don't expect girls in glamorous dress and a dance floor. However, there is shuffleboard to suffice for the lack of a dance floor. Cheap as hell beer. like 4 bucks for a huge scooner. They only serve beer too. A lot of tables for people to sit on, and two pool tables. There's even a couple random arcade games-- one's where you punch the bag to get points(great if you're drunk). the place is pretty big, so a lot of people can come here.Overall, this place is super divey, and if that's what you expect, you'll have a great time. read more

Why does this owner keep taking away Bud Light? This happened once before, which was unacceptable! Then Bud Light came back for awhile so I returned. Decent enough burger.. Young crowd on a Thursday night. Lots of taps, but nothing but mainstream macro stuff.. and two or three years ago I was usually okay with that because at least they had Smithwicks.. but now the sole craft beer, if you can call it that, is Karl Strauss. This place is across the street from Boeing. If they stepped up their beer selection to some micros, then they might be able to attract some some working people in the area, like engineers. Many times when I go to Beachwood BBQ (craft beer bar in Seal), I get into coversations with these craft beer connoisseurs, and many of them are engineers. Not only would this incentivise me to come to Thirsty Isle more often, but it would help drive in more customers. read more

Working within walking distance to this joint allows the work crew and I to stagger across the street during lunch time for a cold brew. The boys and i decided to hit this spot up to grab a cold one and unwind during lunch. After being here a few times, I noticed that the restrooms are so dirty that I was even hesitant to pull out my junk to unload the brews. Because of this, this made me question the cleanliness of their kitchen. Before walking over to TI's, I picked up some food and brought it with me so I can wash it down with a schooner. Halfway through my meal and the brew, the bartender approaches me and tells me that no outside food is allowed. The bar had only a few other people in there and I dont know why she made a big deal out of it. Just for that they've lost a loyal customer. My fiance and I absolutely love this place. Great food, great beer, and good company. The freezing schooners make the beer taste so good and refreshing! We love the chicken nachos! and we also love to order the buffalo wings in medium. They are very tasty but beware of the hot flavored unless you really want HOT! Im half Mexican and eat spice all the time and these are really spicy for me lol. This is a great place to hang out in a down to earth and unpretentious crowd of people. It's a dive bar. Urban dictionary defines a dive bar as a well-worn, unglamorous bar, often serving a cheap, simple selection of drinks to regular clientele. Yes, the bathroom is disgusting. There was no toilet paper the night I went. Yes, the food is not that great but it does the job. I ordered wings and jalapeno poppers. I didn't have to send the food back, so that's a good job in my book. There's little to rave about this bar, but if I just wanted to enjoy a beer, watch a sporting event, and play a few rounds of pool I'd come again.Don't come with high expectations because I didn't. read more

I have to say thanks to the Yelpers who recommended Thirsty Isle's burgers. My hubby was stoked when I brought him here and we discovered it was a chill, cheap dive bar with GREAT burgers at really reasonable prices. Awesome bar food (the onion rings were also delicious), cheap ICE cold beer, bar games, and a pretty sweet juke box (that is, until someone with awful taste in music gets their hands on it...) A great way to kill some time, grab a bite, and get your buzz on. read more

This place is okay. It's kinda dirty so you really don't feel comfortable hanging around for too long. I used to come here once in a while in between classes at Long Beach City College. What can we say about the Thirsty Isle? I've spent many a drunk night and early morning in this dive among dives. That's exactly what it is. A honest to god true local dive bar and I love it. The chicken tenders are incredible, I really recommend trying those. I know people who don't drink at all who will come here just for that. All the food is pretty good though. Great cheap beer and a killer juke box. Lots of Tvs and the bartenders will change the channel to your game. A few pool tables and shuffle board. Cash only but they have an in house ATM. 3 bathroom, 2 for the gents and 1 for the ladies. Bring your ID cuz they card at the door. 4 stars, could be a little cleaner and when it gets packed on Thirsty Thursday with college kids service gets a little slow but that's understandable. My new fave dive bar....they have the perfect bar food! Hamburger (with thousand island, of course), fries, jalapenos and an ice-cold frosted schooner of Stella, or whatever else you like on tap. I've walked here several times with a group and have had a blast. Not too rowdy, but the shuffleboard seems to be available when we've gone and we manage to entertain ourselves with that. Thirsty Isle has become my friends and I's "go to" bar. Even when we go to other bars we always end up here. The place is laid back and has security. They have an internet juke box and no one bitches about any of the music that is played. The bartenders are cute and the pitchers are cheap.
