It seems Getmarried.com felt it was appropriate to give my personal e-mail information to this company and in turn the photographers feel its acceptable to send spam to someone they don't know. I now have to unsubscribe. I understand that you want people to know your business exists. I appreciate not getting one more piece of junk mail that simultaneously kills trees. We had a couple of session with Marc, he shoots whole a lot photos but since we can only choose 6 of them, even we told him that's good enough. (He's kind of forcing people to buy more prints from him) We left our son's hat at his studio when we had the second session, and I had email him many time regarding it. I can't believe I haven't reviewed This Is It Photography yet! This is way overdue, Marc is great! Having your pictures taken is a pretty intimate process, the photographer needs to understand your personality and shoot you in the best light. I wasn't sure what to expect walking in to my photo shoot with Marc at This Is It Photography, but I'm very happy with the service and photographs I received. Marc is a sweet sweet man, he made me laugh and comfortable and was really flexible throughout the photo shoot. I had a couple outfit changes and he just kept snapping away, catching my face in different lights, different poses, and really just let me move however I wanted. When he felt like a specific pose would look good, he wouldn't hesitate to suggest it, and we'd play with some of the props in his studio. Sometimes the use of certain props just didn't work in my shoot, but I appreciated that he acknowledged when a certain look wasn't working and moved on instead of wasting time and pictures trying to make it work. I felt like both Marc and I were having fun in my shoot, he has a great energy as a photographer that I just kept posing and he kept snapping. About a week following my shoot, Marc sent me a link to my pictures in a photo gallery. He got so many great shots, my skin was glowing and the light was on me just right -- and these were untouched photos! Looking through them was so much fun because the pictures reflected the fun and energy from the photo shoot. Some people only take pictures when there is an occasion, I was just taking them for fun and Marc definitely made it that. I will reach out to him if I want to take more pictures for fun or for a specific event. I've recommended him to my friends and if you're considering it, you should definitely give him a chance and see what he can do for you. Thank you Marc! This is now my 2nd time using Marc and Thisisit Photography. We used Marc for our 5 year anniversary photos earliier this year in January. We were so pleased at the amazing quality and creativity of his photos that we decided to use him again for the photoshoot of our newborn identical twin girls. Each time we used him he was not only professional, but he went above and beyond our expectations. We did not realize how much time went into doing a newborn photoshoot, let alone the amount of time and patience that it took to shoot twins. He took more time than was scheduled to get all of the shots that we needed. Needless to say, the photos were once again AMAZING!!! In response to some of the other reviewers... in the two times that I have used him, I have never had a problem with scheduling. In fact he was completely prepared before we arrived. Additionally, another reviewer had a problem with the "diagonal poses." This person is probably a boring person who likes very symmetrical, old fashioned poses (straight lines, boring angles, etc). We hired Marc and Phoebe after three of our cousins had used them for their weddings. We were impressed with the high quality of photos they received from the engagement photos and wedding photos. It was a no brainer to book Marc and Phoebe for our wedding. We met with Marc in his studio and he showed us wedding photo albums. All three of our cousins weddings photos were featured. The quality photo albums were impressive to say to say the least. We booked him on the spot. Our engagement session was shot at two locations, Napa and San Francisco. Marc was very open for the travel and offered insight on some of his favorite locations. We probably spent close to 6 hours of shooting. Toward the end of the day, we were really tired but we were lucky Marc kept shooting. Come wedding day, we put our complete trust in Marc and Phoebe, as we had so many other things to worry about. Marc and Phoebe knew exactly what they were doing and stuck to a plan and timeline. Like previous times before, they extended their shooting time past the time we had agreed on. They also provided us with more photos than expected. We got our wedding photos about a month and half after the wedding. Marc and Phoebe went above and beyond our expectations in capturing one the most important times in our lives. Their perfessionalism, creativity and eye for a good shot go unmatched. My husband and I just had a baby a month ago and wanted to get some family shots taken with our new baby, our near-two year old, and of course us parents, too. As you can imagine, it's no small task to get 4 people looking at the camera and smiling all at the same time - especially when 2 of those 4 people are a either a toddler and a newborn! Marc and Phoebe were so patient with us and helpful. They really took their time and our pictures turned out FANTASTIC! The color contrasts and lighting, not to mention the poses - all of it was terrific. I only give 4 stars instead of 5 because we didn't get to try their advanced digital touch up services. I was surprised to see some of the negative comments here. I made an appt. with Marc after purchasing a Groupon. He was at the studio waiting when I arrived early, and he even set aside his lunch to start our session, even though I offered to wait until the actual appointment time. Marc was very gracious, calm and patient, allowing for a few wardrobe changes. He also showed me photos digitally at many intervals throughout the session to ensure that I liked what he was shooting. I have to say, the photos are fabulous!! Marc sent the images very soon after the shoot. I was thrilled with the proofs and had a hard time limiting my choices. (It took a couple weeks to finally pare down the selection!) I have a background in photography myself, though I am not a studio photographer. Marc has a strong command of lighting and composition. I was thoroughly impressed by his work and would HIGHLY recommend This is iT to anyone looking for a studio portrait session at a great price. While I agree that Marc's personality is calm and quite, not a "Work it, Work it!" enthusiastic fashion photographer type, I have to ask: Is that what you're paying for? My sister gave us a Groupon for my birthday to have our yearly family pictures taken here. It was such a great place! Marc was very good- he worked quickly which was super for the kids. It is not easy getting good pictures of four young children, but Marc did a great job and we had hundreds of good pictures to pick from. We had a studio session shoot done for our 3 dogs. Scheduling the session was very easy and I was able to do everything online. Marc was very good at confirming the session and communicating details for the shoot. There were a few adjustments to the appointment time, but Marc kept in communication with me (which is super important to me). Our dogs are a little skittish in new environments so they were nervous, but Marc was able to get some really great shots of them and their personalities. The only two things that bump this down to 4 stars were that the studio was really warm. REALLY warm. It's a small space, so it was stuffy. Once we finished and opened the door into the hallway, I was so much cooler. The other thing is that he didn't explain the process, so my roommate was a little confused on how things were supposed to work. We figured it out quickly and there wasn't any pressure, so not a big deal. I'd definitely use Marc again. read more

I purchased a Groupon for a 60-mins session. I used this for session with myself, my husband, our son, and our yorkie. I didn't know what to expect. When we arrived for our session, Marc was already there and was ready for us. I didn't even think to bring a change of clothes (I was only interested in photos for Christmas cards that I didn't realize all of the possibilities). Marc had great ideas for pics and captured everything. He was really open to any of our suggestions as well. i LOVE marc and phoebe! They shot both our engagement session as well as our wedding this past May. They are so easy to work with AND their pictures look fan-tabulous!!! They have a great photo-journalistic style, and with Marc's background in landscapes, they create wonderful shots. The background always looks greats, their colors are super rich. i'm a total fan of marc aviles and This Is It photography! we first learned about marc via groupon and are so glad we did! we had a family photoshoot in dec 2010 at his studio. lots of backgrounds to choose from and overall, a very nice setting for our two young children (almost 4 and 2). like most kids their age, our kids weren't the best subjects for a shoot -- our daughter was miss fussasaurous and our little guy was a monkey who had trouble sticking around in one place. marc was sweet and so incredibly patient! i loved that he took multiple pictures of the same "pose," bc we sure needed the options. i always hate it when other photographers don't do the same, esp with young kids. even though it was deep into the holiday season, he managed to get us online proofs within a couple of days. i was amazed! and there were several good shots to choose from -- he shot a nice range of family shots and several of the kids toghether and separately. it was a very nice mix of images and i'm excited to get them printed! i'd love to look into using marc for an outdoor photoshoot bc the samples of images in his studio were really stunning. i'd imagine all his wedding clients to be incredibly happy with his work! definitely big thumbs up for marc! read more

I found Marc through Groupon and did a family session with him. We came late to our appointment (my fault) but he was still able to capture over 200 pictures of us. Marc was very nice and tried to accommodate my requests for a black background, but it was stuck so he couldn't get any pics which was a little disappointing. The studio is pretty small but he has some props and such. He's a bit shy about directing poses it seems but gave us a few directions. He got us the proofs and CD quickly as promised and we got a lot of very nice pictures and am very happy with the quality of the pictures we ended up with - got a lot of compliments. The pictures at his studio were pretty amazing... if we do our wedding renewals I would consider him as our photographer. read more
