    Al Pastor Taco
    Dan N.

Somewhere recently I heard about this place actually doing "real" spit al pastor. We finally made it there, not only do they have a spit but they make their own tortillas. It's a small mostly take out place with just a few seats inside, but they have a large open kitchen. While waiting for our food I could see them chopping the meat for Birria tacos, taking it from the pot, chopping what he needed and putting it back. Who does this.... also freshly chopping carne asada as well.....I was blown away and had not even tasted the food. The craftsmanship, the quality, the care they seem to put into their craft. Just the smell of these tacos was intoxicating on the way home. They were outstanding, some of the best al pastor I have ever eaten. Just the right amount of fat without being greasy. Great flavor, and perfect tortillas. They put a generous helping of meat with the perfect sliver of pineapple on their tacos and they have a cool little paper twist that holds them together. We got the dinners so we could taste some of their sides, the beans were whole beans, no refried beans. The rice has as much flavor as I have ever had in Mexican rice. It was truly a wonderful meal, if there was any justice in this world they would have a line out the door all day long. It's likely ruined us for tacos from anywhere else. The other thing that I really wanted to try is the al pastor fries with cheese, cilantro, onion, jalapeños, sour cream and guacamole...kill me now! This place is a treasure that more people need to know about....just not too many that we can't get into it anymore.

Had a quick stop for a Mexican carving. It was absolutely delicious. Has a vegetarian taco and chips salsa. Excellent taste. Will come back.

These Tijuanense tacos are some of the best tacos I've ever had. Freshly made with fresh tortillas and fresh ingredients. Try the Al pastor and carne asada.

This place has been on my radar for some time but finally stopped in when I read they were celebrating their two year anniversary already. It lived up to the hype for flavor town and friendly service. It's small inside with no public restrooms so I would recommend take out here but a full service location is coming in fall 2024. The tacos are small but mighty with tender meats and appropriate condiments. I will definitely return soon and can't wait to experience the new location. Congratulations!

Located in a small strip center, this family owned and operated serves some great tasting Mexican foods. Basically for takeout even tho they do have a small indoor seating area, all tood is prepared while you wait. They serve a variety of tacos, tortas, burritos, mulitas, quesadillas, sopes, and vampiros. You can order individually or as a dinner. We tried the Asada Tacos which were full of flavor served on homemade corn tortillas. Also had the Al Pastor Tacos with pineapple. The avocado creme was delicious! Prices are super reasonable. They also offer homemade Agua Frescas in a pouch. All made with fresh fruits. My wife had the pineapple/mango which she loved! With so many combinations of ingredients,we will definitely be back to try more of their delicious food . Also, they will be opening their second location in Arlington Heights in September 2024.

I decided to try this place with the recommendation of a friend. I've seen some random ads on social media, but I've never seen it. I'm glad that I came here for lunch. It's a small spot with big flavor. The person taking my order was really nice and delivered my food rather quickly. I had the birria and agua fresca. The food was fresh and the aqua fresca was refreshing. The meat was tender and the consume was hot hot. Not just your regular hot, but a little extra hot so be careful. The salsa was also delicious. At the time, I believe there was a birria special on Wednesdays, but that could change. Overall a nice little hidden gem that I would come back to. The only thing I'm unsure of is if there's a bathroom. It's a small spot, so there may not be one.

Popped into this new hole in the wall for lunch on our way home from the Hawk Hollow dog park in Bartlett. It's a small place and it was doing brisk business but service was fast. Chips and guacamole were standard fare and were fresh, crisp and tasty. Great salsas accompanying the dishes - red was spicier and thicker of the two. Asada taco was incredible. Birria Vampiro taco was well done with a generous serving of tender meat. Check this place out.

Thlaco Taco is a small and locally owned business that fully brings their A game. This establishment can sit about 25 people comfortably. I tried 3 tacos (with everything) - the asada, Al pastor and birria. The flavors in each of them were different compared to the tacos I'm used to and in the best way possible. Proteins are marinated/seasoned well and prepared perfectly. Each taco was bold and full of flavor with a kick at the end. My favorite was the Al pastor. I instantly felt the love and care this business puts into the quality of food they are serving to their customers. Everything was very very delicious. The staff members are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is kept clean and ready to go. Once my order was ready I was anticipating to grab it myself, however it was brought over to the table I was sitting at. They truly make you feel comfortable, at home and welcomed.

I came across this taco establishment through some Instagram posts. Based on it, I gave Thlaco a follow and learned about what they had to offer. That made me want to check out Thlaco very much. Finally, in December 2023, after Christmas, I got the chance to make it out to Hanover Park to try some of the offerings of Thlaco. Thlaco specializes in Tijuana style tacos, and the signature item of that specialty is their guacamole salsa. On their Instagram page, Thlaco usually advertises their Al Pastor offerings and Mulitas. When I went to Thlaco, I ordered their Carne Asada taco and Al Pastor mulita (w/ extra pineapple chunks). The order is to be placed at the counter. The menu is printed on a wall across from the counter. There is a small dining area for those who want to dine in. Both the items I ordered were good in taste. I liked the flavor and the texture of the meats. They were cooked properly. I found the Carne Asada to be more flavorful than the Al Pastor. Their housemade guacamole salsa was tasty. It's a must-have on the items that come with it. The tortillas are handmade in-house. They were fresh and soft. Good quality. The two salsas that they provided (on the side), Roja and Verde, were good, and the Verde was the better one between the two. Spicy and flavorful. They also have a decent variety of Agua Frescas on hand, usually. I had their refreshing pineapple mango agua fresca, and it was delicious. I not only liked their food but also their service as well. They provided good, friendly service. The food pricing is a bit on the high side for suburban standards, in my opinion, but not bad. The food quality and portions make up for it. Their menu has a good variety and they also have some specials during the week. E.g., $5.50 Mulitas on Tuesdays (normally $7.50). I recommend checking out Thlaco for their Tijuana style tacos and more.

This is a 10/10 place! Food is incredible and consistently great. The customer service is the best! Everyone makes you feel at home. Any time someone visits from out of town I always bring them here!

I finally found the right time to try this place, being in the mood for a dine-in Mexican dinner…read more It's a nice place with pleasant servers, and kudos to the guy who filled my water 3 times. I was torn between a chicken mole dinner or just good old tacos. I opted for the tacos Al pastor with rice and beans. I have had Al pastor at many, many places, and it's been interesting to see people's takes on the recipes. These were, hands down, the best I've had anywhere. The meat was charred nicely, yet tender. The marinade/sauce had the perfect balance between the sweetness of the pineapple and the counterbalance of the lime, cilantro, and onion. I was so proud of my selection, that I ordered some to-go for my daughter to try. I also had a delicious strawberry margarita and finished off with a tres leches dessert. Everything was superb! I'll be back for that mole someday, and will also try their Taco Tuesday. Judging from my food, as well as the presentations of others choices that I noticed, I believe their chef is seriously talented and creative.

My wife and I are pretty stuffed right now! I had the quesabirria tacos and she had a spicy shrimp dish with avocado and tortillas. Near Hanover Park and in the mood for some Mexican cuisine? Check out Orale!
