This is the 3rd time that I've come to this location and the lady that does the fitting is so unprofessional , I have a child thats autistic and she's treated her very poorly, my daughter never said a word nor did she do anything that would cause a negative reaction. it wasn't an accurate fitting and when we picked up the glasses we had to start all over. I would not trust my deceased blind dog with this group. When I experienced bright flashes and dark floaters I went to their website. Their website clearly advised me to immediately text them for an emergency appointment. I tried 3 times over three days with zero response. Tried to schedule an appointment on line through their website. It repeatedly indicated, we are experiencing a problem with your request, please try later. Thomas Eye Group located at 546 Lakeland Plaza, Cumming Georgia is a joke. They have sold be me a bill of goods for prescription glasses that they were incapable of delivering, I was give the following excuses as to why the glasses were not delivered -First I was told that after waiting 3 weeks the glasses were made but the prescription was off and that the lab would need to remake them and that would take 2 weeks after the initial 3 week delivery timeline, After two weeks I was told that the lab just got the order and that it would take an additional 3 weeks and that was the last straw for me. Several weeks later, I have canceled my order and requested a refund and now I am going Target to get glasses where I am pretty they will deliver what I order. I DO NOT this recommend this location for ordering glasses as they have not followed through on their commitment for service. read more

Terrible experience! Had a 2:15 appointment, showed up at 2 and checked in. Looked at frames until 2:30, sat down for another 15 min. At 2:45 I asked the front desk if I would be seen soon as I had to pick my daughter up from the bus (5 min away) by 3:30 to be safe. Couple minutes later a person comes out and seems confused about how she is supposed to get me out of there in 45 minutes, and makes me feel like I'm a moron for expecting 1 hr and 15 minutes to be enough for a routine eye exam. No apology, no empathy, no offer to make anything better. She said "we can't get you out by 3:30". SMH! So I left. Sadly this is the norm lately, and the only way I can vote is to take my business elsewhere and hope for better. You should do the same, unless you just feel like watching HGTV in silence with strangers for no good reason. It's a good place for that. read more

Should have read (and believed) the reviews on this site before venturing in for a "visit" today. Where to start ? This place sees you as a widget on a conveyor belt. It starts with a check in with a machine. They have 2 (1 was broken today). Standing in line to check in for my appointment 10 minutes while a perfectly functional human at the check out desk just hangs out doing nothing. After I'm checked in, no one comes to get me and its now 50 minutes after my appointment time. I'm told "any minute", you are at the top of the list. 10 minutes goes by and patients that came in long after me are being taken back but I'm still there. Finally, a tech with an attitude comes to get me to only explain that my insurance will only supposedly cover a wellness or contact lens exam in one visit. If I want both covered, I would have to make two appointments. Last straw...I take my business out the door. Called another and better vision care center and was able to book an appointment for both exams in one visit and both will be covered. What a joke. Take your business and your eyes elsewhere. This place doesn't deserve our time or money. read more

Super rude front office very unhelpful. I have them listed as a provider that confirmed they have them as a provider and the women on the phone said we don't take them and I call back my insurance company they said I need to explain it's a different name which is their vision and dental side for things. I call back a few days after this and I got a total attitude from some lady telling me that it's the same company and I politely tried to explain that the vision is under a different name as the insurance advised me and she was not having it and hung up on me. I have never experienced this with a simple new patient request. Maybe if I was arguing a bill or truly being rude or disruptive, but trying to be a new patient and this is how they treat you? Also, keep in mind both rude people answering the phone on my two attempts were rude, so not sure if is worth another call. I am in total disbelief that someone would be this disrespectful. I took my elderly mother to the Suwanee location. There's always that one employee who strive their best to give a bad reputation to the place they work. Well we got introduced to the Nurse or Tech or whatever her title (Cathy). Karen is a better fitting name for her.  she needs to be send for customer service classes. Especially on these areas  Active listening. Clear communication. Positive language. Persuasion. Empathy. She lacks on all of the above. Dr Heit from Roswell location is all about making money. At the surgery center he had people lined up like cattle. I had cataract surgery on both eyes. I chose the package that my insurance would pay for. After the surgery I realized my eye sight was worse! He told me that is because i have a I stigmatism. He never mentioned that before the surgery. Now i have to wear glasses! During surgery they put you with a "twilight surgery " thats crap. You feel the uncomfortable procedure on both eyes! I would never recommend thomas eye group or dr Heit! Waiting area at this location was 7-8 rows of closely positioned and uncomfortable chairs. Frankly, just too close and uncomfortable. Waited over an hour for my initial appointment. Finally, I asked the receptionist who said it might be 20 minutes or another hour, so I rescheduled for another day at a different location. Why do we even schedule appointments that aren't honored? A little communication from the staff to let patients know doctors are running late would be helpful too. read more

I have been a patient at Thomas Eye Group for 24 years. I have never had a problem in the past. However, I have been trying to make an appointment with Dr. Neufeld for my eye spasms for 3+ weeks now. His front desk never answers the phone. I have left 4 messages for a callback to make an appointment. I have yet to receive a call. Wednesday of this week, I spoke to the appointment desk for the others doctors. She attempted to called 7 different numbers and not one person any of the phones. She said she would forward my request to his nurse. Here it is Friday evening and STILL NO CALL. I am so frustrated. read more

I've been going to this facility for 5 years and went there because of Dr. Glenda Brown. Service was usually OK and appointments usually took an hour or so. Because Dr. Brown was so good, I didn't mind the wait. A couple of days ago I had my annual check up. I was so incensed by the wait time that I started measuring how long I was interacting with the staff and how long I waited. I was there a total of 2 hours and 39 minutes. Of that time I got the initial check 10 minutes, eye retina scan and what other weird nonsense they do 6 minutes, visit with Dr. Brown 15 minutes, and visit with optician 15 minutes. That means I spent 46 minutes doing things and an hour and 53 minutes just waiting. That's simply not acceptable. Including the drive there and then to work, I ended up having to take a half a day for an eye exam. My annual physical takes 45 minutes start to finish and they take blood. I don't know what is going on with this place but it's just not acceptable. To boot this year Dr. Brown couldn't even remember she's been recommending prisms for me, I'd complained about eye discomfort and she realized the prisms were dropped from my prescription. Oops? Come on. You're cramming people into these appointments to maximize I come and not value now and well the patient falls by the wayside. I'm disappointed in all of it. I'm never going there again. The one thing that kept me there, turned into your average eye exam Dr. and that's unfortunate. Strongly recommend you look elsewhere. read more

Just a heads up, if you need to purchase glasses...DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. The doctors are ok, but the side where you need to purchase glasses is worse than horrible. I actually wish I had never even heard of this place. There is only one person that works this side and let's just say I had to come back 2 times just to order the glasses and the wait was OVER 2 hours each trip. After I finally got the glasses ordered I had to wait even longer than 2 weeks to get them because they entered my information incorrectly and didn't notify me that the frames were ready to be picked up. Then I finally get to the place, and the person to give me the frames isn't there yet. Had my child not already have frames picked out, I would have gone somewhere else. read more

When I asked questions he gave me smart answers. he diagnosed me eyes as dry eyes. I went to different dr and totally different diagnosis. This office took my money anc didn't help. So you can see that they've given a few responses which ask for people to give them feedback about the particular instance, but then they continue to get the same negative reviews on the same topics. I brought my 82 year old mother here to have cataract surgery. This was the only place in the area that accepts Medicare. I would like to warn anyone who decides to come here to get ready to wait. The typical appt. seems to take 2 hours and most if it is sitting around in the waiting room. It doesn't matter if it is busy or not. They also love to send you all over to see the Dr. We have been to the Suwanee location, the Sandy Springs location and the Lilburn location. The Dr. Did a great job but the rest of it has been a joke. The staff has very little clue as to what is going on and the computers are often down. read more

I waited too long. I had an appointment at 8 and got out at 9:45. I was in the room with a nurse for about 15 min to go over my medical history. Then about an hour and 15 minutes later the doctor came in. The doctor examined my eyes and explained what I had(my eyes normal he said) for less than 10 minutes. I am not a fan of the newer optometrist, Dr. Kelly Arnhardt. She is curt and honestly a bit rude. She denied my requests for opting out of the retina photo. I couldn't get my eyes dilated the day I came for my appointment, so I just wanted to opt out of that part of the exam. It should be my choice. But they said no, you either have to pay the extra $40 for the immediate photo of the retina (therefore no need for dilation), or return another day for the entire exam and dilation procedure. They refused. If I don't want treatment, I shouldn't be forced to get it. If you check online, it is common practice to only need a photo of your retina about every 3 years. I will not be returning to this facility and will be taking my entire family with me. This is not the first time we've had issues with them. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Honestly the worst doctors office I have ever been to. The doctor was ok and the lady that checked my vision was nice but the people at the front desk were very rude. The doctor recommended an eye scrub for my eyes and this office can give me a free trial. I asked the lady at the front desk if they had any free trials and she said " oh.. well we don't have any up here.." and then continued to type. Instead of actually checking if they can get some from someone. And then she proceeded to ask " is that all for today?" And checked us out. Um NO MA'M. I wasn't rude at the time because I'm a pretty forgiving person. We just left and let it go. Next, I called them about a prescription and asked if they could replace one of them because is was a bit too expensive. They said ok sure. They call me back at 4:52 on a Friday saying they don't know which one and to call back. I HAD TO WAIT TILL MONDAY! This was a prescription.. not just over the counter meds. So I proceeded to call them on Monday and thought " that's ok maybe they will fix it". The lady on the phone was so rude and seemed like she didn't care at all. Like I get you hate your job maybe but customer service is a bit important. Either these people need to be retrained or they need some more outgoing and helpful people in this office. Ive called over their phone in two separate occasions years apart and nothing has changed. The operator does not seem to care that I am a patient who just wanted to make an eye exam appointment. I was not given any days and times availability and on both occasions was asked to call back instead which i refused to do since operator is not being cooperative. Another bad incident is when i went to their office to check on some eyeglasses. So i went in, no one greeted me which is unusual so asked lady by a far booth. She pointed the direction of frames. Like she was busy and couldn't provide anymore help. While checking glasses a man came over to give assistance. It was taking me a while to choose any so the guy went back to his seat try to work on his desk. When i found glass i wanted i asked him to run the numbers for price. He asked me couple question about insurance, personal info and social security number, i was not expecting last one so my mind went blank and forgot it. He seemed annoyed and irritated as I try to recall the number. After around 30 seconds of mumbling i recalled it and gave him. He was not happy at all made me feel I am wasting his time. And so after he finished calculating price, i readily went out the door because i lost all interest buying glasses there. read more

I am wearing the absolutely worst pair of glasses I have ever worn since I have starting wearing glasses at age 50. Thomas Eye Group did cataract surgery on one eye and the results were great so when I needed surgery on the other eye I went back to them. Then I had my post-surgery eye exam. This is when my issues started. The woman who did my exam must have been in a hurry, because she was going through the test faster than I have ever had these tests before. She was flipping the slide back and forth from 1 to 2 or 3 to 4 just as fast as humanly possible. I asked her to slow down but she just couldn't seem to do that. She also couldn't seem to find the right adjustment for my head. I seem to either be looking at the ceiling or looking at the floor. I finally told her to forget the adjustment, I would just angle my head until I could see. Then came the prescription. My prescription was missing little things (like PD). I had to return 5 time in order to get a correctly completed prescription. Needless to see, Thomas Eye Group has lost my business. My eyesight is too important for someone to fool around with. I would also like to add that I hate their computer check-in. read more

I've had pinkeye several times the past few months so I decided to go to a specialist instead of my PCP to have my eyes evaluated. I was able to get a same day appointment so I was super grateful for that. When I arrived to my appointment, I was not greeted by anyone when I walked in. When you walk in, there's a self check in machine located in the middle of the room. Since it was my first visit, I was confused as to what I was supposed to do. I'm used to speaking with a person, especially for a first visit and filling out new patient paperwork. The self check in machine is cool but definitely not very personable. After I checked in, I waited for about 15-20 minutes before being called back into a room. In the room, I was asked what brought me in that day. After that, I was brought back to the waiting room to wait some more. After waiting a bit in the waiting room, I was brought back to another room to see the doctor. This is where I waited for what felt like forever. I've been to many eye doctor's appointments and never have had to wait so long before. While waiting for the optometrist, I could hear that she was in a meeting. If she had a meeting, I'm not sure why they had squeezed me in for the appointment. I waited so long that they had to unlock the doors for me when I left because they had already closed. My whole time at this place was literally over 1.5 hrs. The optometrist was nice but I won't be back. read more

High tech check-in is impressive but wish they will put more terminals because you literally may have to wait 10-20 minutes to get to terminal. Way too many questions for check-in process (maybe for 1st time only, hopefully next time it will be quicker). Then the wait in different wait rooms is just too much. Overall the process took over 90 minutes for just an eye doc. Never have waited anywhere else so much. Too much hype and service is little cold. Feels little stand-offish. On the plus side, they seem to have latest equipment and experienced doctors. Lady who ushered me in was very friendly but the person checking me in before doc seemed like was in bad mood (no smile, nothing). You go through 2 waiting areas, 2 doc rooms and both ask same questions again in both rooms. Second time, is the rea doc. First time, the lady was just plain cold/rude! I thought she was the doc but then I was sent to a waiting area and then another room! All this for a redness! Overall, too much time for an eye appointment and little too cold experience for me. If the usher can smile, why can't the doc and nurses be pleasant? Summary - All the high tech in the worlds but slow and cold! I switched eye clinic in looking for one closer to home. I came across Thomas Eye Group and I'm pleased with the service I received when I went for my annual eye exam. I logged in my arrival in a computer as to secure social distancing and Covid-19 protocols. Everything went smoothly with my exam. I then met Mildred who assisted me with choosing my contact lens and explaining my payment responsibility. She was the most kind and loving. The contacts I chose weren't in stock, so she game me some to wear while my contacts arrived at my home address. Over all good experience here. read more

Problems from the jump: My 1 1/2 year old was referred here by his ped. His appt was at 12:30. (Mom of 3 boys under 3) I called at 10 to see if they could see us a little earlier. The receptionist asked for his date of birth--4-26-16...she said 12? No 4...December? No, April...is it Julia?...no its Paul...2060...no, 2016---april 26, 2016--oh, paul. What do you need?---can we go in earlier?---no, you can reschedule to next week...ugh (btw I'm in my house where i always talk on the phone & have 5 ATT dots and I can hear her crystal clear.?) Fast forward to the appointment... Get there at 1:30 and when we walked in, we were not greeted even though there are two ladies behind a desk. I told one i was there with Paul. She told me to check in at the kiosk where I proceeded to enter information I could have entered ahead of time online... Name address emergency contact phone numbers email insurance information etc. OR all this information could've been provided by handing her my DL & telling her I'm paying out-of-pocket. I told the lady behind the desk I was done and she said to "have a seat and they will be out to get you soon." Even though I'm standing there with three young boys and a stroller, she didn't tell me there was a separate waiting room for pediatric appointments. After waiting 30 minutes, I finally noticed a sign pointing to "pediatric waiting area". I asked the lady if we should be waiting over there bc our appointment was at 12:30? She asked me about a girls name. I said "no I'm here with Paul". She said someone checked him off already so they'll be right out to get you. A nurse comes out chewing food and walks past us to the desk so she could swallow. The"receptionist" asked her what she's eating and they have a discussion about it while we're still just sitting there. Then when the nurse's ready, she turns to us and puts out her arms for Paul but then didn't take him from me.? I proceed to push the stroller and carry Paul to the room. she puts atropine and his eyes to dilate his pupils and then tells us we have to wait another 30 minutes.?!!! she directed us to the pediatric waiting area and we passed two other nurses in the back on their phones. She said "they can make as much noise as they want because it's pediatric day and we are slow." Really!? Then why did it take you 30 minutes to come get us for our appointment?! So you could finish your lunch? All the other exam room doors were open. And there was only one other girl and her dad in the waiting area who saw a different doctor. As that Dr. brought them to their room she said "you were early, and I'm late. I apologize for your waiting"...must be a common theme here. Finally, at 1:30, the same nurse brought us to a different room and told us to wait for the dr who came in soon after with a different nurse. So, there were at least four nurses, two doctors, three "support" staff upfront and one guy selling glasses. All those people working there and it still took us two hours and we experienced horrible customer service.? The best part about the visit was my son sat very still for his exam and the doctor was efficient. The entire exam took less than five minutes and his vision is perfect. Thank God she said we don't have to come back for a recheck. She also said he was so good he was the best exam of the week. At checkout, i got a "hey". After handing her the paper and several minutes of awkward silence she said $220...then more minutes of awkward silence before the other lady said they're having printer problems. (The other girl and her father were waiting in line behind me followed by a lady buying glasses.) Overall, The practice manager should be fired and everyone needs retraining on working at a "pediatric eye doctor" except the doctor herself. Whomever owns this practice is hemorrhaging money and has a bunch of people working there that don't give a damn about the customers' experience. If I have to take any of my boys for another eye exam, it will certainly not be here. I will definitely not refer any of my mom friends to this place in fact make sure they avoid it. And I will be taking this information back to Dr Bowman at Roswell Pediatric Center so they can begin referring their clients to better practices. read more

They did not inform me that children under 7 are billed through the medical insurance and not through vision insurance. I received a bill in the mail for a pediatric new patient comprehensive exam for ~$160 because they billed through the medical insurance. Also, they billed my insurance $260 and the patient portion is $160. They need to inform potential patients that the service for children under 7 are billed through medical and not vision before seeing them. Prices are high and the service was okay. I had an 8am appointment and the waiting room was already packed with children waiting to be seen. I left at 9:30am. We waited for an hour and 15 minutes. The dr saw my child for 15 minutes. Overrated and overpriced. Go somewhere else and save your money, time and actually be able to use your vision insurance. read more

I had Lasik done in June 2019. Over a year later and I still have "ghosting" around words and images. At first, Dr. Carlisle was very welcoming and professional. At my most recent follow up appointment the time changed quite a bit. For the most part I was unable to see any words or images clearly at my exam but was somehow told I'm seeing 20/20..... I'm sure to get me out the door. Once Dr. Carlisle told me I was seeing "20/20" I expressed my concerns about the "ghosting" and the doctor laughed at me and condescendingly told me I just didn't understand and that any corrections would be dangerous for me to do and he himself wouldn't perform said corrections because it wasn't in my best interest. Before the surgery I paid extra for "lifetime adjustments". Come to find out and per Dr. Carlisle.... The lifetime "adjustments" are basically just the opportunity to see better and he decides if I need it or not. Dr. Carlisle is very patronizing and arrogant once the check clears and not helpful in assuring the patient is pleased with their results. $4500 and I saw better with my glasses before the surgery. My husband and I have been going to Thomas Eye group for over 10 Years. He had some work done at a big name eye practice and while it was ok, he went back to Thomas Eye group for the rest of the work and was MUCH happier! The staff is always nice and efficient. They have locations all over (I have been to 2 of them) and the service is always wonderful. I would recommend them (and have) to anyone with no problems or doubts at all.
