Racism We are a brown couple. We walked-in for dinner tonight and there wasn't any availability (which was fine). The host was nice. Then we asked the bartender if we could sit at the bar and she mentioned they are not serving at the bar today. We walked out, had dinner somewhere else and decided to make reservations for tomorrow. We ran into the same bartender. She didn't even ask if we were looking to book for brunch or dinner. She didn't look at the system, simply told us they are FULLY BOOKED for the weekend and not taking any more reservations. I am seeing availability on YELP for brunch tomorrow (July 2, 2021) from 11 am to 2:30 pm and for dinner from 5 pm to 5:45 pm. It was clear that the bartender didn't want us to dine here. read more

I came here last Saturday night without reservations, thinking I could grab a little something to eat at the bar. However, they only serve food in the dining area so I ended up waiting for a table for 30 minutes. No problem--I just hung out in the cool bar area and had a nice glass of wine that the friendly bartender recommended. I would have liked to sit on the lovely patio, but since they were booked, I sat at an inside table, which was perfectly fine. I wasn't hungry enough for the shepherd's pie, so I ordered the black lentil tacos, adding a fourth one for an extra charge. They looked pretty on the plate and had great flavor, with a little bit of a spicy kick. I was glad I ordered the extra one because they went down quick! read more

A nice patio dining location. I had the Scallop Pasta $37 that was very good. But my wife had the Lamb Shank $39 that was too salty. While I would liked to have given this restaurant a higher rating, it would have nice if our server offered to bring something else instead of telling us that the shank had been sitting in a brine for 18 hours. For entree I got the pork chop, which is really a double chop. It came with a large portion of arugula and roasted cauliflower. Note that portions are quite large, so come hungry. OUTSTANDING experience! After visiting for the first time in February - we booked a table for our family of 5 celebrating a very special 90th birthday in May. Allie, our server, was very attentive - but not smothering, making great recommendations. Everyone agreed that the crab cake appetizer was the best we'd ever had... the fresh ingredients were flavorful and used creatively throughout all the dishes! Absolutely great selection of wines... including a carafe offering of sparkling wine. We raved over the filet mignon, chile relleno, shrimp & grits... At the end of the meal, we got the bread pudding... enough for the whole table to share! And the icing on the cake?... despite us singing happy birthday quietly at the table, all the other guests there joined in... leaving the guest of honor in happy tears. Everything was made in house, including the flaky empanada crust, shredded pork filling and a spectacular Anaheim pepper hot sauce. MD had the grilled cheese which had arugula on top -- perfectly toasted & tasty. The service was excellent -- attentive without smothering. We had a local Barrelhouse IPA beer and a Beautiful Earth white wine from McPrice Myers Winery (which inspired us to visit the winery ... see separate review). Update: I think the first time I tried THO, they were having an off night. Cold food, poor service, etc. We recently went back (about 3 years after the first attempt) and had an amazing meal. In sticking with our recent empanada trend, we ordered the beef empanadas. Delicious. I had the lamb sugo fettucine and the hubby had the (shocker) pork chop. Both mains were perfectly cooked and tasted pretty darn perfect. They were a little short staffed for the evening (the host said so much) but it didn't show. Everything was spot-on. Wow, this place was wonderful. From the service, to the food, it was amazing the entire time we were there. We had the best server Brian. He was super knowledgeable about the menu and the wines and in Paso you want someone who knows about the wines. The filet was the best piece of steak I've had in a very long time. All the appetizers were delicious and the recommended wines also complemented every bite. It's expensive, but worth the splurge for a special night out. Positive reviews made us try to come and dine here. And we even met one fo the chef at one of the neighboring restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant you walk into a long hallway with a bar on the left side and racks of wine on the right which is pretty cool. There's a patio dining area and another room at the back. It was a warm day so we were seated at the patio which is nice. I think the owner was there, and she seemed "intense", she didn't smile at us but it's okay, no biggie. Service: Our waitress was nice and attentive. Food: we were bummed that they ran out of Wagyu beef tartare at 6:30pm on a Monday. Really early to ran out of a dish. The local bread was not as good as it looks. It was so dry that we stopped eating it. It is better served with butter not olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Black lentil tacos, kale slaw and pork chop was really good that's why I'm giving 4 stars. read more

Also service wasn't very good, we had to ask for water and drink refills, actually flag down a server to ask for them. Finally checked out Thomas Hill Organics against some friends' advice, out of sheer curiosity-- their menu looks really good! My fiance and I ordered the burrata appetizer with apples, dried cherries, and some kind of almond pesto. It really wasn't a flavorful dish (might have helped to have a bit more of the pesto, because that was really delicious where I could find it), but it was still a nice light way to kick off the meal. Both of our entrees were disappointing. My fiance's pork shank cassoulet didn't come with the red wine demi glace that was mentioned on the menu. Maybe that was the rug tying the whole room together, so to speak, because his dish really needed something (salt, but also something else). The braised pork shank was really dry in areas, and the cassoulet tasted like someone had just dumped some Rotel in with a can of beans & called it a day. My uni butter pasta was okay. Like the pork shank, it needed something, and overall the ingredients didn't jive well with the uni in the sauce. I've had beautiful uni pastas that didn't feel super greasy and heavy the way that this one did. We approached dessert hopefully, but that was also a no-go. My coconut bread pudding dessert came with the entire plate (even under the bread pudding) heavily drizzled with a really sour balsamic reduction. I LOVE a light drizzle of balsamic over vanilla ice cream, but it was just way too much, and there was no escaping it. The courtyard here is absolutely beautiful, but at $30-50 per entree, we won't be making the investment in another visit. A salt shaker on the table would have gone a long way here. read more

SUPER cute place! Perfect spot for a date night or gathering with friends. Just bring some good company and you'll be good to go. It was my first stop on a weekend trip to Paso Robles, and I seriously couldn't be happier. The atmosphere makes you feel cozy and at home. Staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and answering questions. To start, my friends and I shared the cheese monger's board, where you get to pick three different cheeses (highly recommend!). I tried the Thai Chili Salmon and my fiance had the locally raised rack of lamb, which were both so delicious and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we shared the chocolate creme brulee and the bread pudding with our friends. Those plates were licked clean. Just don't forget to have lots of wine to wash it all down ;-) read more

I made a reservation on Yelp for 7PM on a Monday night for the patio. The first table the hostess was going to seat us at was by the door so my husband requested another table. There were lots of empty tables but the hostess seated us at a patio table in the corner where I faced a clothing store. We were disappointed that we were not seated a a better table. The food was tasty but not excellent. We shared the Red Tipped Butter Lettuce Salad (but it had too much vinaigrette dressing). My husband ordered the Stroganoff and I ordered the Bone In Double Charred Pork Chop (very large and I couldn't finish). Overall, I'm not sure that we will go back to this restaurant the next time we visit Paso Robles. read more

We came here last night, excited and with high hopes after having spent the day wine tasting. The service was exceptional, and the food was overall good, but there were execution errors in nearly every phase. Appetizer - Dungeness crab cake. Not 'cakes' but cake, singular. This is a pet peeve of mine. Appetizers are meant to be shared, so odd-numbered portions to me are conceptually flawed. It was a big cake, that just as easily could have improved in both form and function had the same amount been made into 2 smaller cakes. The flavor was excellent though, and the salad which accompanied it was very nice. In fact, my Wife said if she were to go back, she'd just order 2 of these as her meal. Entree / Her - Seared Duck Breast. Unevenly cooked, no proper sear at all, fat not rendered, no crispy skin, overall dry and bland. If this had been put before a judge on a completion like Top Chef, knives would've been packed by the culprit. The root vegetables that accompanied the duck were bland and completely lackluster. The dish lacked poise and balance, and was a failure on all levels. Entree / Me - Ribeye. The meat was cooked to perfection, and beautifully seasoned. Absolutely solid, but the grilled white sweet potatoes, while tasty were again unevenly cooked... I shied away from them after biting a raw bit in the middle. They were listed in the menu as 'crispy sweet potatoes', a texture that simply isn't going to happen on a 2" medallion cut. The confit of garlic clove listed in the menu was absent. Dessert - Cheesecake and Caramel Budino. We ordered 2 desserts and shared them. The cheesecake was very nice. It was a baked variety that was a bit drier and more fluffy than the variety you find most of the time, the blueberry compote was well done. We both really enjoyed it. But then... the budino. The flavor was very nice, but budino is a custard, and this was just straight up liquid. I saw another customer at a nearby table and his was the same way. I joked that I could've benefited from a straw, and in fact I actually did drink the final 3rd of it like a beverage. So, overall I think the place has promise, the flavors are there but technique is... inconsistent. After tip we were at $200, so if you can afford to take a gamble with that kind of money, then give it a shot. It may have just been an off-night, or they may simply tighten up and improve by the time you make your way there. But if dropping that kind of dough on a meal is a 'we saved up for a special occasion' kind of thing, go elsewhere. Bonus - pic of aforementioned excellent steak. read more

So I went to this place expecting great service from the amazing reviews i red. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was good but I received terrible service. I ordered my first cider and it was great, the second one came warm. So I figured they must have made a mistake so I asked them for a different beer also came warm and it wasn't even poured into a cold glass. 2 cold beers I don't understand how they could do that twice In a row. So I asked what's going on and they said they just tapped a new keg. So to my understanding they don't keep there extra kegs in a refrigerator also a big no no.
