He is very knowledgeable, and most times he will look at your pet and know right away what is going on and the best course of action. I've gone a few times here with my boyfriend to get his kitten vaccinated and to be honest, I rarely feel comfortable. 2/3 of my visits, I overheard the receptionist making sarcastic comments towards patients and clients. It feels like she is aware people can hear her but she simply doesn't care? The assistants are always nice but even they seem uncomfortable with the comments sometimes. You can see how busy they are, the lines get super long because it's walk in basis only (I've tried making appointments, they don't take them) The doctor is ok. He is incredibly rude but our cat seems to be fine so there you go. As far as I know, he is honest. Doesn't pressure you to do unnecessary tests like other vets. Just needs to speak to others better. I noticed him rolling his eyes at his employees a few times and this makes me uncomfortable. Can't imagine working there. The prices are incredibly cheap and I figure this is why the place gets busy. I honestly dread coming in sometimes because I get nervous and the receptionist seems very judgemental and not that it should matter to me but it does. I don't feel welcome and I'm not sure if it's because of my appearance or age but I get a bad feeling. The staff was amazing, however the veterinarian was by far the most rude and unprofessional vet. I am not sure if he only treats his female staff and customers in this degrading and belittling manner, but it is unacceptable to treat anyone with such disrespect. If he feels this entitled to treat his paying customers in this manner, I worry how he treats the animals. I took my grandmother in for her cat to receive vaccines after waiting for 2 1/2 hours, in the hot sun, on the asphalt ground in the parking lot. The cat became too anxious to receive vaccines and the team was unable to place cat back in carrier. The 2 female staff immediately became anxious themselves and said to each other "the doctor is going to get mad" over and over. The vet eventually came in to help capture the cat without the any proper protective gear for a scared cat. Once he caught the cat and gave me a look of disgust he began yelling "Leave now, get out, bring me my cage back! I tell you what to do". Once I was able to get more clear instructions from the receptionist to return after giving the cat a pill to relax I asked if there was another doctor we could see when we return as he was extremely rude. She explained he is the ONLY vet there and that his attitude is a part of his culture. The receptionist and I were trying to translate in Spanish to my grandmother as he became more aggressive and rude. He had gone to the back with a patient then returned to the waiting area and continued yelling aggressively at us in a demeaning manner while holding the exit door open. I explained we were leaving as my grandmother was using a a walker. . He blamed me for endangering everyone's life including my grandmother for bringing her and HER cat in, when he NEVER had the proper protective gear for himself or his staff. this place was actually my fav place to go but as of recently they been so off putting with their services. I've called the office multiple times and left messages, with no response back or reply. I went in also not too long ago and they made their patients pet who was sick wait til after and only for the owner to find out they weren't taking patients no more . which made feel very differently about this office. How this place is still open and the vet still has a license to practice medicine is beyond me. The only redeeming part of the hospital was Robin, the main receptionist. She was a glimmer of hope in a filthy, unorganized and hostile environment. I've taken my 4 cats to him for a couple of years now. I respect and understand the fact that there is a language barrier, as English is not D.V.M. Shargani's first language. However, that doesn't excuse the fact that he talks to EVERYONE like garbage. Employees are terrified of him and I've heard him be just a disrespectful to every other customer he's communicated, including myself. I almost never see the same team member twice and can only assume it's due the way he treats people; this included patients and employees. This location is a revolving door of inexperienced children who obviously have no respect for the vet. Each cat I have brought to him for an initial evaluation, as I have found them all in bad shape on the streets, he has provided inconsistent treatment. I've tried asking about fleas, tics, worms and he just grunts, "he's ok. Ok bye bye". That's always his response, to every questions... "ok. Bye bye". Although he appears cheaper than other places, I've had to come back multiple times for the same issues because my cat's problems were'nt treated correctly from the beginning. Today's events were the final straw. I brought my 8 month old kittten in for the THIRD TIME, for ear mites. I arrived 15 minutes before they opened at 3pm. At 3:02pm, a customer in front of me casually informed me that they were not taking any more customers for the day. In less than a year, Thomas Vet Hospital has reduced the hours of operation from being open 10 hours a day to 3.5 hours a day. Even with those reduced hours, they are turning the 8th customer away 15 minutes BEFORE they open. Again, I'm sure the D.V.M. Shargani is drowning because he can't keep good employees and can't swallow his pride enough to be respectful, to anyone. I haven't seen Robin for a few months and am sure he chased her away... along with my loyalty. He's a very unhappy person and cannot be trusted. read more

Several years ago, a kitten of about 3 months showed up with his mama and two brothers at my parent's house in Southeastern New Mexico. Instantly, I fell in love with his regal posture. His short grey fur. His beautiful gaze. And the way he meowed. I begged my husband to let him into our home in which we already (at the time) had 3 cats. We named him Kingston. Fast forward to last night (9/29/15) when we noticed an abscess near his rectum. I was devastated. We had been on vacation for about a week and had not noticed any changes with Kingston let alone the abscess. That night, though, the discharge was fairly frequent. King, as we often call him, was much more talkative than usual. He was a bit lethargic, yet, jumping in his usual places, eating and drinking normally, and had been - as best I could tell - defecating like usual. At first feared the open sore was ringworms, then possibly a ruptured anal gland. It was neither, according to the doctor. I've had my share of visits in veterinaries. After quickly reviewing several area offices/hospitals later that night, I took a chance on the Thomas Veterinary Hospital and I haven't a single regret. An appointment was not necessary, I was told on the phone. So we came in at 10:30 a.m. I filled out a form. We had our exam. Diagnosis. Treatment. Even chatted with them a while. We were out the door by 11:00 a.m. The staff was exceptionally nice. Extremely helpful. They even carried King in his carrier back to my vehicle while I wrangled our two human daughters. Because I had mentioned I found them using Yelp and we were first-time patients, King's office examination fee ($40) was waived. Dr. Shargani is the main reason I give them 5 stars, though. I do not take well to doctors who are not direct and ask seemingly irrelevant questions. He was no non-sense. Direct. Not too detail-oriented, but King's case was fairly simple. They shaved his bottom a bit. Asked me if they could trim his nails which I was hesitant in allowing. Administered an antibiotic injection ($50). Lastly, I was shown how to administer King's oral antibiotic ($20) by Dr. Shargani himself. In hindsight, I also appreciated their listening to me about not wanting to simply drop King off. I've dropped off animals before at vet offices only to have my stomach in knots the entire time & a huge lack of communication. My instincts tell me that King's abscess will diminish as Dr. Shargani suggested it will within the next week or so. For that matter, I will return to TVH for all of our furry loved ones. Used to be good but not anymore. Your pets and you deserve better. First of all I have nothing against the different vet techs/nurses and the receptionist who have worked at Thomas Veterinary! They have always been caring, lovely, and very professional people who were there for my pets, me, and my family during regular visits and especially when we were going through hard times with our furbabies. The vet on the other hand.... Several of my furbabies were patients of Thomas Vet throughout the years, I was a longtime customer. As others here have mentioned, I too dealt with the vet's weird attitude as long as my pets were treated and cared for. For many years we were satisfied with the service until recently the vet began to misdiagnose my pets one too many times. Seems like his attitude has gotten worse if you dare mention his mistakes. Can't even ask a simple question without having him snap at you. It's bad enough you have to wait in a long line outdoors in the heat, dealing with the stress of a sick furbaby, and then on top of that having to deal with the vet's bad attitude. I just think since this clinic is now only open 3 hours a day, he's just trying to rush in as many patients as he can which in turn contributes to the lower quality of care. I've had several recent bad experiences with this brute vet and enough is enough. Thomas Vet has lost a long time customer. I luckily was recommended a new vet who I am very pleased with after a few appointments! I'm so relieved to have a new, caring doctor for my pets who also isn't trying to rob me blind like so many vets try to do. This was my dogs only vet (she's 5) but my last visit in June was the last straw.. Slowly the vet became more & more rushed during the exams. My last visit I went in for my pups vaccines, to exam her anal glands & she had been limping. After the vaccines, the vet was in a rush to leave. when I called him back he said "what is it because I am very busy" keep in mind no one else was in the waiting room. I asked about the limping, I put her down so he can exam her & no joke, max he saw her walk for 5 secs and pushed some vitamins saying she will get better. I then tried asking about her teeth and again he said "I'm very busy." I can't tell u how many times he said that to me & he never even examined her anal glands. At the end I didn't feel comfortable with his examination. I took her to another vet where they did x-rays & found out she has hip dysplasia on her right leg and would need surgery. read more

I am so thankful for this staff, the DR is straight forward, he's the professional so can't be upset at that. I took it, as he cares for our pets, so it upsets him if they aren't doing well. Overall great service I felt comfortable in knowing they knew what they are doing. I was also able to go in with my dog. My dog also felt comfortable didn't run away from the DR. Glad they are operating during this pandemic. They also have reasonable prices. We had a tragedy happen during the beginning of Covid took our dog to Downey Vet where they left me in the dark charged me $800 just so my dog could pass the next day. They didn't do lab work all they said was give her the medicines, put her on IV and said bring her back on Monday. By the AM she was deceased. I asked if it was something serious she would need to stay over night and they said no. I wish I would of known of this place I'm sure they would of done everything to save our beloved Juno. I've had several visits to Thomas Vet and After Hours (in Norwalk) since I got my puppy in March 2020 (timing was right to get one) when COVID started and people were advised to stay at home.   I called both After Hours and Thomas Vet explaining, "my 6 month old puppy has SEVERE itching to the point where be bleeds himself and I think a steriod shot will give him some peace."   Thomas Vet receptionist (who has been working there for 13 years) says we won't give a steriod shot to a 6 month old (what integrity, they actually care about the animals rather than making money or giving the fast way out to get the customer in and out). Why don't you first try this medicated itch shampoo?   After Hours in Norwalk couldn't give me any info over the phone, but the girl told me the bring him in to be seen by the vet and the vet can tell you what the issue is.   Also, I remember previously  bringing my puppy to After Hours with the itching issue when he was younger and they gave him a steriod shot but didn't tell me it's bad for the dog and shortens his life. Please i need to know this as a pet owner!   I just like Thomas Vet better - i get definite answers, they have integrity and actually care about the animals and i'm just a better informed pet owner. read more

Do NOT take your pet here for any kind of diagnosis. READ THIS FIRST. My cat woke me up one morning crying in pain, so we took him to this place bright and early. We actually got our first cat from this place-- she was a rescue they had taken in. So of course we were inclined to remain loyal to this vet. Yes there's a long line you have to show up early for, but that's not the problem. All we knew when we got there was that my cat Zetsu somehow hurt his leg, and we needed a professional opinion. We were afraid he may have dislocated his hip. All the reviews that say this doctor has no bedside manners and just tries to get you out as soon as possible are completely accurate. The doctor dismissed my cat's injury as a sprain and gave him a bit of medication. He specifically said he was positive there were no fractures, even though he only patted around the injured area for maybe 3 seconds. He said to come back in a couple days if he was still limping. We were concerned, but trusted his experience. He has always been curt with his patients, I figured not everyone has a knack for customer service. No big deal. Sure enough, a couple days later Zetsu was still limping bad. My husband took him back. Again, the vet was hasty to give them an answer and get them out the door. He wouldn't even let my husband explain what was wrong--just kept talking over him. This time he said the cat just had a sublocation in his knee, and that it would heal on its own in a couple weeks. He recommended some pain medication as well. Seeing as we were brushed off so quickly, we decided to get a second opinion. Thank GOD we did. My husband took Zetsu to Norwalk Animal Hospital where they actually stopped, listened, thoroughly examined the cat and had the sense to use an X-ray. They found he had a fracture in his hip after all, which requires surgery. The vet at Thomas Veterinary Hospital had our sweet boy walking in pain for days, almost WEEKS simply because he is not attentive or caring enough to fully examine patients whose parents wake up early in the morning just to make sure they're seen by him. I completely understand that he's busy and tries to get through as many patients as he can, but there's no point in seeing so many patients if you're not actually going to provide them with the care and treatment they need. Part of me almost feels bad leaving such a negative review, since all the other staff there are friendly and actually do seem caring, but seeing as the main doctor is the only one diagnosing and treating animals, we will not be taking our pets there any longer. I have been taking my Lab here since she was a puppy. The Dr. is amazing he got her spayed and she healed so wonderfully. Fast forward to now , my dog has always had allergies and we have changed her food and no treats and it's just been known she has allergies. 2 weeks ago ( my lab eats her feet ( licks them , chews them , eats her butt ) so In the evening I noticed her paw is two times the normal size ( I thought maybe she got bit by a spider or something ) she wouldn't put any weight on it, Thomas Vet was long closed so I wanted to get her seen ASAP because she couldn't put on any weight ; long story short I take her to Lakewood Pet Vet ( the most horrible vet experience of my life ) , 550 dollars later and 15 days of medication and Brandy was still chewing her paws. Lakewood Pet Vet offered me a 215 dollar allergy shot , I got the same allergy shot today at Thomas for 36 dollars. Same brand name , same dose , same everything. I love the people here; they are so good with my dog they allow me to be in the room with her during her evaluation. The Dr. was so kind to me and explained a lot of what I was prescribed is too strong and dangerous for my dogs ( talking about the antibiotics ) the people here genuinely love animals and they aren't in it to make a quick buck like Many vets are. I can't say better things about them; and I hope when you choose a vet you choose one who sees animals as family and not a cash cow: they have a patient for life with my two dogs and I would recommend them 10/10 times. The front desk staff is wonderful the DR. Is amazing. I left today with my Lab feeling better than she has 2 weeks ago. They don't over charge ; they just care. I can't say enough good things about them. The whole experience is always so good: my lab is now almost 3 my other small dog is 9 and they have been in the best care always. Such a great vet! I love Thomas vet! My beautiful dog got neutered some time in April.. I wasn't planning on doing so but Dr S recommended me to do it... I was glad I did it. And I'm also glad they are remaining open during the craziness covid 19! My dog had a BEAUTIFUL recovery! I can't even find the incision or anything! He is thriving more so now! Two weeks ago I didn't do research and went to petsmart to get my Frenchie (10weeks) puppy things and there was a pet hospital called Banfield in there and so I made an appointment for a few days later. Office visit was $55 alone. I then asked them how much it would be for subsequent vaccinations and they told me how much per shot type along with $55 again for office visit. I went home and called around and many vets charge about $40 for the first office visit and no fee afterwards except for vaccinations. Here at Thomas, no office visit fee and walk-in is fine. Today I went in and walked out in no time. No long line or hassle. Bordetella was $25 and the five in one shot was $29.The doctor was so nice and he even cleaned my puppy's ears and trimmed nails for free. Thank you. I have taken two pets to this hospital and all I can say is that I'm 100% satisfied with their caring approach and professionalism. They are kind to my pets and the doctor knows what he is doing and what he is talking about. They also aren't trying to price gouge you either which is almost impossible to find nowadays. One of the best vets around. Went to another nearby vet for years and I liked them for the most part. Then my dog got sick and multiple visits and lots of money spent, they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my dog. My first visit at TVH and the vet immediately figures out what was wrong and a few follow up appointments later and my dog is healthy again. The doctor is to the point and you can tell he and the staff really care about pets that are brought to them. Also keep in mind, that they're short staffed AS IS EVERYWHERE. I sent a relative here to simply renew my dog's 3-month supply of flea pills. It was supposed to be as simple as just getting the supply renewed but instead they somehow convinced my relative that she needed some allergy shots because she was scratching. Well the reason she was scratching is because she needed her flea pills, not an allergy shot. How did something so simple become the opposite? To me it felt like they were trying to sell my family some snake oil. I don't understand why they couldn't just give us the pills when we asked for them since we ran out of the supply. They gave my dog a shot when she already received her shots prior to all this and still expected me to fork out extra money for the pills that I originally came in for. Worst place ever! Never again will I go here! So in my neighborhood, many people drive by and abandon their pets. There was this black, longish haired cat that was abandoned so I decided to take care of it while I was able to find a rescue or someone that could take him. He was in bad shape (his fur coat specifically) but otherwise had a healthy appetite. I had planned to take him to a groomer but wanted him to get stronger. A few weeks go by and this cat, B , stopped eating. He wanted to eat but just could not. I decided to take B here, as it had good ratings. I waited in line until it was our turn to go inside. When the dr came in, I immediately told him that this cat was not mine and that it was abandoned and that I was taking care of it in the meantime. I told him that B stopped eating and I don't know why and before I could say another word, the dr was like "look at him, look at his fur, he has all that fur inside of him no wonder he doesn't want to eat." I explained that B tries to eat but he just can't, something is bugging him like in his mouth or something. I asked the dr to examine B and to take tests and whatever he needed to do in order to figure out what was wrong with B. The dr refused and gave B some hairball medicine and told me shave the cat and left. Just like that. What kind of dr does this?! Im pretty sure they have to examine the animals in some shape or form but nope, this dr didnt do anything besides focus on B's fur and not his symptom/actions. I was so mad. As I was paying, this dr did the same to another couple who had a small dog. They were trying to explain what had happened but the dr kept talking over them and ignoring them. After I left, a week goes back, and B's health declines. I decided to take him to a vet an hour away. I left B with the vet and after a few hours, I come back and they told me that B had cancer in his mouth; they had to really examine his mouth and do some tests. I was so mad, how could these drs find out the cause to B's condition but the dr here (Thomas Vet Hospital) couldn't even take the time to do so. Rude Unprofessional My boyfriend and I got puppies so we took them in to get checked since one seemed sick & showing signs of worms ( we rescued this pup & were concerned for our second pup) We gave the vet assistant our documentation (record of their vaccines and etc) he was very helpful and informative about when their next shots would be and etc Next thing you know the actual vet came in and gave one puppy and shot and some liquid We were so confused when the vet did the same for the second pup Bc she doesn't have the same vaccines as the older pup Come to find out this vet gave our pups stuff they already had and the receptionist went crazy at us saying we shouldn't have even came in today as if it was our fault their vet gave them stuff they didn't need ! We supplied the documentations and everything We simply wanted the rescued pup checked since she seemed sick and full of worms and our older pup checked since he's around her a lot Yet the vet did what he wanted and we had to pay for something they already had ! I had to put my senior cat down today. I didn't want to take her to my regular vet because the main receptionist there is rude and they are pushy about money up front. I saw this vet on yelp and decided to bring her here. It was very hard to say goodbye to her but she was an old girl and she was suffering. The staff was VERY nice and understanding and gave me as much time as I needed with her before and after she was gone. They never even mentioned payment until I was ready. They allowed me to cry and mourn and hold my baby and I never felt hurried or an unsympathetic vibe. This will be my vet from now on. Thank you for helping me during this hard time and putting my beautiful cat to Rest In Peace. Total cost was $120 for the euthanizing and a paw print. They also offer other options to cremate or even take the pet home with you to bury. read more

El jueves lleve a mi perrita y no le quisieron poner sus vacunas este a sido su veterinario regular por más de 5 años ,, y robin me dice ya es muy tarde yo vivo en Los Angeles llege con mi bebe y mi perrita desde lejos para que salga esta señora y me dijera lo siento sweetie tienes que llegar alas 8:30 si quieres que el vet la vea,, que orror nada profesional uniera echó una esepcion para poner sus vacunas a mi perrita ah otra cosa que hizo muy mal esta señora fue decirme ah no urgencia llévala a otro lugar a que le pongan sus vacunas , que si su veterinaria a sido está no otro lugar , ay no lo puedo creer,,,pero bueno no recomiendo ya está veterinaria lo siento an sido muy Inprofesionales no volveré jamás allí .
