I was pleased with the day of installation when I had a very professional team that worked efficiently, accurately, they were polite, protected my floors and carpets and cleaned up exceptionally!! It's been almost 6 months since they were installed, and we have noticed a tremendous difference in less sound from the highway we live on, they are easy to open and I have love letting fresh air in when it's great weather! If I knew the Thompson Creek buying experience was like purchasing a car, I probably would not have had them into my house. Wow. They were having a 50% off installation sale. However, I could not get the sales person to tell me what the price of the window was vs. what the price of the installation was. I would like to have known how much I was saving. Impossible to find out. They write down a few prices on a piece of paper and then write down their lower price. Don't understand where the 1st 2 prices came from. Something aboout consumer reports. I mentioned that the price was higher than I expected. So the price comes down. In the end, the guy tells me that he gave me such a good deal that I actually wasn't paying for installation. Imagine that. He gave me a better deal than the 50% off. Unfortunately, there is no way for me to tell. I do believe in the quality of their product and they back it with a great warranty. Hopefully, in the end I'll be happy with product. Time will tell. In the meantime, I feel like I may have paid more than I should have just like I do every time I buy a car. If you are a good hardnosed negotiator, this may be the company to do business with. If you are not, I wouldn't do business with them because they will probably take advantage of you like the auto dealrships do. read more

I must say this was the second worse experience (the worst experience was with Prince William County Home Improvement a year ago) I have had with a contractor in my 50-something years. And I didn't even get past the initial phone call of to set up an appointment!! They insisted that I set aside 90 minutes for them to first measure the 7 windows I wanted to replace (30 minutes), discuss benefits and options (45 minutes) and write a guarranteed quote good for 1 year (30 minutes). These are the exact numbers given to me by the higher pressure telephone sales person. Funny, my calculator doesn't come up with 90 minutes. Even after I committed 60 minutes to the presentation they continued to insist on 90 minutes. After much discussion I finally asked if he wanted to give me a quote to which he responded, "if your limited to just 60 minutes I would not be able to give you a quote". Are you serious!!??!! Needless to say I will not be doing business with Thompson Creek Window Company and I will be certain to spread the word. read more

Really, the customer service might be a joke. We asked for pricing from several companies for our project. When it arrived to TCW, the salesperson was so arrogant and without any training in sales or customer relationship. I am talking about spending 15 thousand, so I expecting at least someone to be polite and professional. He started saying that there was three prices to negotiate. One valid for 1 year I believe, another one if the contract was closed within a month, and a third one that he would talk about. The negotiation started with him giving us a high price for the windows and the 1-month deal. We told him that we had seen other products and that we had other budgets so we could negotiate his prices. Basically he grab his stuff and said that he was going to leave. My wife, told him that she was disappointed that he did not even made an effort to get our business. I asked him about the third price and he replied that he wasn't even going to spend his time trying to sell a BMW to someone who wants to pay for a Hyundai. (By the way I do have Hyundais). We were definitely willing to negotiate and pay for the windows. They look good. I do not know about the installation. But if the customer service started like this, I can imagine if I would need them in the future how would it be. We complained to the salesperson supervisor and we did not get the response we were waiting for. We ended up buying from HD and we are so happy with the salesperson customer service, the great price, installation and customer Service from the HD team. My advice is to AVOID Thompson Creek. For the money they are asking for you deserve better trained professionals and an exceptional customer service and follow up contacts. read more

I first used Thompson Creek a couple of years ago to replace a window. They were great and so I decided to use them to install new gutters. After that the service and customer service has gone down hill. The work to install the gutters was also great, but within the past year when it was time to get service work it was a disaster. I first tried to call Thompson Creek to come check my gutters as I was having water damage from the home and wanted them inspected. I had to wait a month for the next available appointment only for a no call, no show. I had to keep contacting Thompson Creek to come inspect the gutters. I emailed a supervisor with no response and just had to keep calling. Finally someone was able to come out and I was told the gutters were good but needed to cleaned. I was told that Daniel from Thompson Creek will call me to schedule an appointment. Never heard back and I did not follow up since it was winter time already. I then needed to replace another window and decided to contact Thompson Creek. Though the sales rep they sent over was very nice and polite. He spent hours at my home. It was past 9pm to try to put an order in for 1 window. Because it was after hours, he would follow up with me on the appointment for measurement and installation. A week went by and I heard nothing, after also providing a deposit for the window. I had to call and follow up to schedule the appointment. Now that we are in spring, I called to schedule an appointment to finally get the gutters cleaned. I had an appointment schedule for today 3/27 from 8am - 4pm. I was home all day and nobody showed up nor call to cancel or re-schedule. I called today at 4pm and spoke to a woman named Destiny, who advised her technician stated they are on site. I am home at my residence and no one is here. She stated someone would call me back. Now at 4:46pm, I have not heard anything back and so I call once again. I speak to another woman who is stating that the technician is at my home. I advised nobody is here and she places me on hold and then says a technician will call me back. She advised that when it comes to gutter cleaning that they may not knock on the door, and I advised her I understand, but don't you think, I would notice someone on a ladder cleaning my gutters if I am home all day? When I scheduled the appointment and even got the call yesterday to confirm the appointment, they made a point advising that no one needs to be home. I guess they say this so that they can lie about cleaning the gutters. Glad I worked from home all day today to confirm that no one came. read more

I had 3 windows installed by Thompson Creek. There were multiple delays and in one case they measure the wrong window. They installed one window incorrectly and when they went back to fix it, they broke the window and had to come and install a completely new window. There were continued communication issues where they would call the wrong number or not relay information between their sales and project coordination teams. After discussing these with them several times, they still continued to occur. After all of this, they offered me a $150 in gift certificates, which I find insulting considering the hassles that I went through. Really disappointed with the entire experience. read more

I was interested in the Thompson Creek gutter system. The bottom line is that Thompson creek covered gutter system appears to be a quality product (and local business); that said, be ready for a hard sell from the salesman and be ready to haggle for price! When I called for the estimate, the folks on the phone were very good covering the bases and very polite. I asked for an estimate and they let me know that they'd send someone out and it would take about 1 hour to complete the estimate with the technician. I thought that seemed kind of long at the time, but didn't really question it. Be ready that it's not actually a technician that shows up at your house but a salesman. They come complete with a kit to compare the Thompson Creek product to some of the other systems that compete with Thompson out on the market today (Gutter Helmet, etc.). The salesman did some careful measurements outside and assured me that their philosophy is "Measure twice, cut once" which makes perfect sense to me and that if we did decide to place an order another person would come out to double check the measurements (seems wise since Thompson manufactures the entire system). Once we got inside, the salesman has a LONG spiel that they review with the customer. (I should have keyed in that he asked for a glass of water before he started!) They have laminated booklets where they review the company, the founder, etc. As they go through that, they also have small section of the Thompson system so you can see the craftsmanship. The sales pitch has you compare the Thompson example with some other examples of similar systems. This is where it got a little tedious for me. The salesman asks you constant questions throughout the presentation about how the quality of the product looks compared to the other systems and they carefully record your responses. After each section of the presentation, they ask you about your likes/dislikes for each section. That gets a little trying. Essentially, they work up to the "grand finale" (the pricing sheet) where they outline the price of your estimate for four levels of system, with level 1 being the cheapest and level 4 being premo materials. Then they ask you to guess where Thompson falls on this spectrum. After you guess, then the salesman "surprises" you with how inexpensive the Thompson product is in comparison. The key to this part of the presentation is to realize that the four price estimates that the salesman is showing you are not actual pricing estimates from competitors, but numbers generated by the Thompson sales staff. They are probing your willingness to pay. As I mentioned earlier, I called asking for a price "estimate". Because the sales staff put in so much effort on these calls, they are looking to guarantee sales and they come up with a "special offer" good until the salesman walks out your door. Obviously, everyone has different gutter dimensions, etc. but the price difference from the salesman initial price quote to what we discussed before he walked out the door was a massive 27% price difference. In conclusion, I do think that the Thompson system appears to be the most structurally sound from the other examples that I've looked into so far. That said, I did not appreciate the high pressure hard sell from the salesman. If you are in the market for new gutters I would recommend getting a few other price quotes first and not telling the Thompson salesman. That way, when he calculates the pricing scheme at the end you will be better equipped that I was to see if the prices for the other systems was accurate. Also, if you have other price quotes first you will be better equipped to haggle with the salesman. Like I said, a 27% price difference is a massive difference from an initial quote to what I haggled down to. That said, I didn't sign for anything because I felt uncomfortable taking an offer without a legitimate comparison to other products. Obtained an estimate and was very annoyed with how pushy the sales associate was. First, they INSIST that all homeowners be present during the visit. Well, we actually work so getting a time when two of us can be home during business hours is impossible. Second, the presentation was way too long. I don't need to see presentations. Just tell me about the product and show me a model. Third, and most importantly, the sales pressure was just nuts. I don't decide on ANYTHING on the spot, especially when the pricetag is $10k. The sales guy got really annoyed when I refused to sign a contract just minutes after providing the estimate. He kept asking what I was looking for. I explained that for any large project, we get three estimates. He then proceeded to tell me that getting three estimates was a useless, worthless practice! Seriously? I oversee large projects on a residential building and three estimates is standard industry practice. When I refused to sign a contract to start work, the sales guy got very rude and huffy. I asked if I could contact him with any questions, and he just said, "No. I'm done here. You have to call the main office." It was unreal. I definitely would not recommend this company. Any company that tries to get you to sign something on the spot without being given a chance to think about it is sketchy in my book. read more

With my experience (again with my neighbor having identical work accomplished), I asked about this. I've had Thompson Creek replace my doors, windows, and install gutter covers. They also replaced a couple windows at my parent's house. All of the work was done quickly and professionally, with great results at a reasonable price. Their products are generally more expensive, but you get much better quality, and a fantastic warranty. I would not suggest Thompson Creek to anyone based on our experience with them. We engaged them to replace a failing door and they promised a quick turn around (about a month) they failed to deliver on. It took them about 9 months (07/15/15 - 04/05/15) to install and resolve all the issues caused during this process and it was one of the most arduous experiences I've had as a home owner. We have pages of notes and saved emails, but in short we had the following issues with them: -Unable to provide the product(s) original agreed upon, basically felt like a "bait and switch". -Unable to meet the timelines first agreed upon during the sale, and then reaffirmed with the first site visit. -Frequent broken promises. We had to limit all our interactions to email with them, because site managers would "promise" a fix, a timeline or a resolution and the Contract managers would have "No record of that" -Slow and often long periods between communications, we had to chase them down after signing the contact to get movement. -Frequent No-Shows (No call or email to notify us) -Frequent delays during the process due to damaged product, staffing problems or failure to communicate internally. -Lack of internal communication. The sales people don't talk to the installers, disconnects between site workers and contract managers. -Damaged Product repeatably brought to site. -Poorly skilled or trained subcontractors (Frequently did a below standard job requiring more than a dozen follow up visits to resolve issues). -Workers clearly rushed and ignore concerns during the install(s). multiple photos available showing the sloppy work. -Inability or lack of desire for the Onsite workers to follow the designs / plans provided by the Leads, and a during the initial failed install a complete refusal to match the existing design. -Follow up communications sporadic and less than pleasant. In the end after they had resolved all the outstanding issues and cleaned up the calking from the front of our house I requested a final invoice detailing the work and what was done, which we had not received.. Today Lawyers claiming to represent the company contacted me about our failure to respond or meet our outstanding Obligation to Thompson Creek. I let him know we were still waiting an invoice from Thompson Creek and was told "They had exhausted all avenues of communication" with us, but he refused to provide any of those claimed correspondences and payment was required immediately to avoid litigation... Further highlighting Thompson Creeks poor handling of our whole experience with them. Not a single email, call or letter from the company since May, they would rather hire a lawyer than send us an invoice. read more

Had a great experience with TCW about five years ago (windows, gutters) with three very large orders (around $40,000 total). Now, needed two windows exactly like previously orders to finish off a remodel. This time they sent an inexperienced salesperson who only had to duplicate a previous order and pretty much failed at that. The exact same window had increased in price by over 30%!!! Then they sent a final measurement guy out a few days later and the guy didn't even bring a tape measure!!! I registered numerous complaints without any resolution. Finally, I cancelled the order. After several calls and six weeks later, I am STILL trying to get my deposit back. TCW was a great company. Now it has shown nothing but complete incompetence every single step of the process with every person at TCW with whom I have dealt. Not the same company it was. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

I can't speak to the quality of their products, as I did not end up going with them for my siding needs. However, the reason I did not go with them was their ultra high-pressure sales tactics. For starters, they refused to come out to do the estimate unless both my wife and I were not only home, but "available". Oddly enough they did not offer a babysitter to watch the kids, so I have no idea how they intended for both my wife and I to be "available." Aside from that, my wife has absolutely no interest whatsoever in anything having to do with the siding of our home, the cost, shape, shade, color, or anything else. She simply doesn't care, so I deeply resent their implication that I cannot make a decision for myself. Well, once they rolled-up, I realized why they insisted we both be present. They want you to sign-up immediately, before they walk out the door. They make up some garbage about "the cost of coming back out to remeasure and our inventory allotment this month allows me to offer you this special deal, and you have a corner lot so we can stick a sign out front." All of this to disguise the fact that they want you to make a decision without thinking it through. I told the guy "I'm not making a decision today. For things that are this expensive, I ALWAYS think them through overnight that's just how I operate." He continued with: "well, what WOULD it take to get you to purchase our siding today. Surely there is some price that is just so unbeatable that you'd sign up now." I told him "$400", and he seemed to take exception to my sarcasm...though In full disclosure I would've happily purchased their siding and installation for $400; I'd have given him cash on the spot. In any event, the high-pressure sales tactics were entirely too much for me. The quality of the product seemed good; but then again, he's a sales guy so that's his job. If you do decide you want to go with them and take a chance on the sales tactics, I would follow-up what the other reviewer mentioned and get 1 or 2 other quotes (preferably low-end ones) ahead of time, so you have a good start point and response to the "what price would get you to buy today?" question. Word of advice - don't take the first price, don't take the second price; wait for the "name your own price." read more

I recently purchased an exterior French door from Thompson Creek. It's a great quality product, as it should be for the price I paid, but the customer service I received was AWFUL. My first appointment was in November, where I gave them a decent down-payment, but I wasn't able to schedule a follow-up appointment for "the actual measurements" and then the installation, for almost three months (late February). Some of that was due to having to reschedule, but it seemed like after they got your order/money, the delivery estimates they gave you went out the window. In addition, I rarely heard from my assigned project coordination team...I always had to contact them...to include finding out if my installation was still on schedule. I was told the installation team would arrive at my house between 8-10 am; instead they got there before 7:30 and wanted to start early. TOTALLY uncoordinated on all fronts. My experience with Thompson Creek (TC) has been awful! It has been unbelievable! My windows were put in several years ago and I've had to constantly call TC for repairs. After the initial installation TC literally had to come out and re-install all the windows because they weren't installed properly (poorly insulated and not aligned). I recently had to contact TC again because air was coming through the windows, a couple of windows had condensation, and a few screens needed replacing. Well it's been a nightmare. My calls for service started October 2018. I'd talk and email with a service coordinator and then not hear anything for weeks, so I'd call back to check the status, and find that the coordinator I spoke to and emailed no longer worked for TC. Then I'd regurgitate my reasons for needing service all over again, and be assured I'd receive a call to schedule an appointment for a technician to come out. Again, weeks later, nothing. So I called again and expressed my dissatisfaction. Finally I get an appointment for a service technician to come make all the repairs. My husband and I wait at home on our scheduled service day, and no one shows. I call TC and they inform me my appointment was made by a new coordinator and was unfortunately not entered into the system, so TC schedules another day for the repairs to be completed. After 5 months of back and forth, a technician comes. The technician seems very knowledgeable, assessed what is needed to fix all the issues. I get a date for the repairs to be completed, the technician comes and guess what, all the needed repairs weren't entered into the system correctly, so here we go again, two additional service appointments are needed to complete work I've been trying to get done for months! When will it end? Needless to say, I will never refer TC. read more

Had sales presentation. When they came to take measurements, here comes the bait and switch. Guy walked in ask if I was sure I didn't want a bay window. Maybe his idea of suggestive selling. During the measuring, they Called me over 3 different times to see why the price would be more than quoted, each time adding additional costs. Turns out the price would be double the quoted amount. They said the sales guy was incompetent and would need to be retrained. When they finished measuring I asked them to leave and said Id call the sales guy who quoted me the price. The main guy said he could answer anything now. Then, He received a call and proceeded to carry on a conversation in my living room! What? I stood by the door and thanked them for coming. The guy was still on the phone while walking out. I called the company. They guys stayed outside my house over 30 minutes. The next day I called back several times to get clarity. They l left me on eternal hold each time. I finally found this was intentional from the receptionist. I called the sales rep on his cell phone He hung up after I identified myself. Classy. They must think they are the only game in town. I called a competitor, and got a better deal. read more

New Gutters Installed in 3-level townhome--NOTE: this review is on the installation of the new gutter-system ONLY. Although the Co specializes in windows/doors, we needed new gutters for our 3 story townhouse and the sales person introduced me to their system. I have not heard of them before the sales person stopped by although they have done some work in our neighborhood already. They cold-called my door and it worked out well. The older gutters needed to be replaced, there was a lot of spill-overs and the design of Thompson Creek gutter system is actually quite original. We had new gutters installed this summer and I could not be happier with the results. I had no trouble with customer service, the scheduling team did have to re-schedule my original appointment once, but they notified me ahead of time and the re-schedule went smoothly. The crew arrived as promised and were finished with the job in the promised time window. They cleaned up well too. read more

Using Thompson creek was a huge mistake. Please consider other vendors. They will show you all of their ratings and awards but they do not live up to any of them. I will review just a few of the very many errors... We wanted a new sliding glass door installed. The installation date was changed about three times by them because it was not ready. Last minute cancellations affect work schedules. After two different people measured the frame and agreed to have the door move left to right, we had someone from another business come to measure for a new shade for the door. He immediately told us the door cannot go left to right because we would be stepping over an air vent on the floor each time. Why didn't Thompson creek pick up on this? So we called to tell them and changed it. Three months later when the door was installed they arrived 3 hours earlier than their window time (fine) and had many errors including putting the lock on the bottom and not the top as we asked, putting a brass and not a nickel handle as we asked, chipping the molding on the wall, poor caulking with gaps, unfilled nail holes, and it was crooked (these were the big things that went wrong). The inspector came by and insulted us by offering a gift card to a steak house for the problems. All of this resulted in another scheduled appointment and waste of a day while they fixed all their errors, except the lock is still at the bottom and the door is still crooked. Fortunately this was accommodated for when we got the shade installed. They said they would negotiate the price...and came back (months later after we called and emailed a few times to settle the invoice) with a lower adjustment than we would like. We can have them replace the door, per contract with a lock at the top, but we chose to save us time and them money, so they should do the same for us. Save yourself a headache they operate as a large company and not a locally owned company that takes care of their customers. They will also say they reached out to us to help settle but they have not without us reaching out first and several times. Our inside representative/sale was so difficult to work with throughout this process and we often had to speak with other representatives. read more

I purchased 15,000.00 dollars worth of replacemwent windows. The windows are fine but the installation sucked !!!!! Have been trying to get them to correct the nasty looking outside window castings they installed without my approval as well as they cut all the vynle siding !!!! I really don't understand the negative reviews for this place, especially the ones that don't even involve an actual window or door purchase or installation. Our house was build in 1948 and still had the original picture window, as was evident by the amount of cold air sneaking in from around the frame, and our original house remodelers apparently broke the seal and the gas had leaked out, causing cloudiness and ugly streaks down the entire window after we power washed the house this summer. We finally decided to bite the bullet and replace it with two hanging windows on either side. We called to set up an appointment, when a very nice sales guy named Don came to the house and spent hours with us explaining the craftsmanship, technology, and install, along with energy savings and long term warranty. Afterwards, a project coordinator called to arrange for the install within a few weeks, and another staff person came by for the (re)measure. The installers were quick and very professional. At the end of their job, an additional coordinator did an in-person visit to ensure that we were happy with the install and everything was okay. They might go a little overboard in the number of different people who come by and call, but I think they are just making sure that the job is done to your satisfaction. Our windows turned out beautifully and there is a NOTICEABLE difference in energy savings and sound insulation! We will definitely use Thompson Creek again! read more

Lets see how things go. Several days ago we noticed that our living room floor was very wet after significant rain. We called Thompson Creek to come look at the sliding patio doors they had installed several years ago (2011). At first they said they could schedule me in mid AUGUST? After I asked what I was supposed to do until them, I was told they would talk to the service manager and call me back later that morning. About 3 hours later they called and said someone would be out to look on Saturday. The representative showed up promptly, he was even a little early. He looked over the doors, but immediately started making excuses and coming up with issues that he felt weren't TC responsibility. He started with TC doesn't build the sliding doors so there is only a limited warranty, something about calking only being covered for 1 year (found nowhere in the warranty paperwork they provided me at purchase) and then gave the "I just tell them what I found and they will determine if it's covered" speech. I have looked over my TC paperwork. Even for the sliding doors it states "TC warrants to the owner that the installation work performed by TC will be free of defects due to workmanship for as long as the owner owns and resides in the house in which the product(s) was installed." Reality, the calking over the flashing on the one slider failed and water has been pouring down the inside frame into my house for some time and this recent heavy rain was the final straw. We'll see how TC responds, but based on the reviews posted, I anticipate being in this for a long and arduous time until resolved. read more

After spending many thousands of dollars I have a door that won't lock. It was installed in September and repaired in October. It still doesn't lock. I have spent quite a while on the phone with customer service. I am not getting satisfaction as they will only give me a 4 hour window for an appointment tomorrow. My wife and I had a horrible experience with your company. After a representative came to our house to assess the work to be done, he said a scheduler would contact us for a consultant to come and do a cost estimate for the work. No one ever did. I had to contact Thompson Creek to get a consultant out here. When the consultant was here, my wife gave him a check up-front for 50% of the job (about $1,000) with the balance to be paid when the job was completed. We were promised that the crew would call and give us a 30-minute 'heads-up' before they arrived. THEY DIDN'T. The work was completed and my wife paid the balance of the invoice. Today, she received a nasty call from Thompson Creek saying her check was invalid. That would be impossible since my wife had thousands and thousands of dollars in the account she paid Thompson Creek. What happened was someone at Thompson Creek incorrectly entered the routing or account number on my wife's check. To resolve the issue, my wife wrote another check to Thompson Creek. These jerks did not even apologize for the nasty call. A horrible experience with this company. read more

I had a salesman come to my house claiming that he had talked to my neighbors who said there were issues with my windows. I was up front with him that I had just moved in and wasn't interested in replacing my windows. They must give these guys a script for every situation because this went down a path of questioning the references of my home inspector who didn't mention problems with the windows. The guy seriously asked me how I had picked my home inspector and how many references I got before picking the guy. My windows are original to the house and are pretty standard in my area. Sure they aren't great, but no home inspector would say I needed to replace them. He then started asking me what my project list was and insisted windows must be number one and why wasn't I interested in saving energy when an energy crisis is imminent? At this point I started making references to him leaving... He continued and continued and continued... I have never had a sales rep come to my house that just couldn't take no for an answer. I finally closed the door on him. Later I noticed a van out side filled with guys in blue Thompson Creek shirts. It was creepy. These windows may be great for all I know, but they need to modify their sales tactics. He would have been much more effective if he had skipped the high pressure sales speech and had just given me a pamphlet. What is weird is that he didn't even leave me with a business card. read more

Be very careful when dealing with this company. They started at $1400 per window, but gave me the "sign it this month" discount to $1150, There was an option 3 which I asked about and they said if I sign "tonight" they would reduce the fee to $993.50 per window. I signed because I knew I had a 3 day cancellation period. Got another estimate the next day for $405.00 per window. $1000 per window less than Thompson's original estimate. They negotiated the deposit check (my bank confirmed it was paid) but would not send out the refund after I cancelled for 7 days. In effect holding my money for about 10 days in their (interest bearing, no doubt) account. The whole process felt uncomfortable. I did like the salesman. He was nice enough. read more

I am in the process of purchasing the house. I contacted Thompson Creek Window Company to receive an average quote for the service, so I could negotiate the price of the door replacement that I needed and have funds available to hire Thompson Creek Window Company to perform the service later. As soon as the representative called me in the morning, he was enthusiastic and started offering all different kind of services (cross selling) to me. After talking to the representative and explaining that I need to get an estimated price for replacing the door, his enthusiasm diminished and he just wanted to end the conversation as he discovered there were no immediate sale. i am really disappointed that no one was able give me any numbers without coming to the property. read more

I ordered a single window replacement. Even though this was only one window I though I got get service. The process from purchase to post installation is one of the best business processes I've witnessed. Everything was set up so that the job went very smoothly. I was impressed. read more
