Charcuterie board extraordinaire! We loved every bite of the local cheeses and homemade crackers, mustard and quince jam.
    Laura S.

THE came highly recommended from the owner of the boutique hotel we were staying at (Villa Hygge) and we are so glad we came! We started with the charcuterie board that all the reviewers rave about. The raves we're worthy! Each bite of the locally sourced goodies exploded with flavor! Even the cheddar did not disappoint! I am not always the biggest blue fan, but probably ended up loving that cheese the best! It paired incredibly with their quince jam. We shared the two pastas for dinner. One was a braised pork and smoked ricotta ravioli served on a sweet layer of carrot purée. The other was a shredded Brussel sprout carbonara with a curly pasta that nicely held the delicately flavored sauce. Pastas in america can be so overly cheesy. Each of these were delicate, light and bright. The fresh Brussel sprouts were an unexpected crisp and complimented the bacon essence perfectly. I loved my Chilean Los Vascos Sauvignon Blanc but was surprised for a farm to table they didn't offer varietals from at least New England/ Long Island/ east coast. We will be back !

We really liked it here! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food is farm to table so everything tastes incredibly fresh. The presentation is beautiful as well. I am gluten free and our waiter was knowledgeable on what I could and couldn't have. We absolutely loved the cheese board (added gf crackers) and the pork shoulder appetizer (soo tender)! For entrees my fiancé had the marinara pasta which he raved about. I had the chicken which I enjoyed but don't feel like I would need to come back for. I would definitely consider this to be one of the better restaurants in North Conway. Make sure you make reservations as they do get busy!

THE continues to be amazing and no trip to the area is complete without a visit! The hyper local ingredients, incredible craft cocktails, beyond tasty food and the cutest atmosphere - if you haven't been you're really missing out. The service is great and the owners are so lovely. A fabulous place if you have allergies as well, so accommodating.

Empty anniversary dessert for my parents 43rd wedding anniversary...

If I could give zero stars, I would. I took my parents here to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary and was looking forward to a special evening. The owner was incredibly rude, condescending and arrogant. The steak we ordered was just not edible. After expressing our disappointment, the owner came to our table and instead of apologizing, claimed we were in HER home and HER guests and did not apologize for quite possibly the worst steak I've ever had. She claimed the steak was grass fed and organic and the reason it wasn't "edible" was because I ordered it medium rare. Interesting. After realizing she was the worst business owner we had ever met, we told her if we were her guests, we would not be paying at all because guests don't pay, customers do! I asked her to just apologize, which was all I was looking for, but instead I was made to feel it was my fault i didn't like it and the scientific claim it was high quality meat. The kicker was the empty dish with a candle for my parents anniversary that she sent out to the table with the check. Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength. We will never go back and I suggest you don't either.

All I can say is wow! Second time coming here and it was just as spectacular. We came the night after our wedding and they made special effort to recognize us and really make us feel welcome. The food from the acorn squash soup, to the steak and pastas was all amazing. The owners are wonderful and the food is sourced locally.

Very good food, server was great. Would definitely recommend going and will be back. Their commitment to local sourcing and farm-to-table menu items is excellent. 5-10 years ago, this experience would have merited 5 stars. In the modern world of fine dining, you truly need to execute exceptionally across the board. Great food can be found anywhere and there is no shortage of talented chefs and cooks. I'm in full support of the auto-gratuity, but the 7% "infrastructure" surcharge is not a good look. Just raise the food pricing. The James Beard award is great, but as a frequent diner at fine dining restaurants, only the pesto and beet cake dessert special were exceptional.

Why I'll go back: Farm fresh cuisine with incredible flavor in a welcoming country setting You HAVE to order: whatever soup is on the menu (just trust me) Tony's Tip: def make a reservation or you'll either get shut out or be stuck sitting outside, which is an iffy proposition in NH unless it's late Spring or Summer Well, we definitely saved the best for last. T.H.E. was the third in our back-to-back-to-back foodie adventure on our Fall trip to our place in Madison, NH. Having dug into their web site, I was intrigued by how seriously T.H.E. seemed to pursue their craft, from cultivating most of their own ingredients to having curated a diverse wine list. After entering the little market in the barn, we were led into the restaurant and seated in the main dining room, which is cozy, but spacious. From there, our servers were great hosts - casual, but professional, patient with our occasional indecision (after all, it's tough to order when you want to eat almost everything on the menu), and respectfully careful in a COVID environment. The menu has a mix of staples that are almost always offered and seasonal, if not daily specials. We loved the variety of our charcuterie board and devoured the soup of the day, which reminded me of a green tortilla soup (I think with wild boar, though my memory is a little foggy on that). I also loved my herb roasted chicken, including the glazed bolero carrots (insane!). If you didn't leave room for dessert, don't worry - just grab a sea salt dark chocolate bar to go - it's so rich, it will last you a few days. Bottom line: this was an incredible find, and I'm sorry I didn't stumble upon it sooner. It's on the top of our list the next time we make our way up from Boston, and we can't wait to see what surprises T.H.E. is cooking up!

This place is one of a kind in the white mountain area of New Hampshire, tucked away in the small little interesting town of Jackson! The staff and food is fresh and all made from the farm to the table. The drinks were amazing and unique. The first cocktail was made of over 35 different alcohols and was called zombie milk...had to try it and I'm glad that I did. My favorite app was the cod special that came out with a spicy sauce and lightly salted cucumbers. Delicious! The smoked tomato soup was plentiful and was topped with cilantro. Very tasty, ,but probably better cold? I didn't really taste anything Smokey in the soup. The street corn. Absolutely delicious with the cheese encrusted on the Cobb. The corn bread was the best I've ever had with melted butter on the bottom and tons of flavor on the top. I ordered the rib eye steak and although it was cooked perfectly to medium rare, it was dry. Not the best steak I've had but reasonable at $35. The cod fish dish was cooked perfectly and was done very well with the right amount of spice. I don't usually eat fish on the second day, but I did this time. When you get the bill, you can order things from the farm by using the checklist that they provide. I look forward to going back in the future and trying another one of the amazing menus

We were there on the last Wednesday in September. The place is very cute inside. We were supposed to be seated at the bar, but the folks that were in our seats were lingering, so we sat at a high-top in the bar area. The staff is SO nice and accommodating. Shout out to our server Ashley! This is truly a farm to table place, so expect the food to reflect that. We had the tomato soup which was delicious but had lots of pieces of tomato skins in it. The alliums 4 ways was interesting. I just wish the main onions were cooked more because it was like eating a raw onion. The bolognese was excellent. And the Hake (white fish) was very good but needed salt and more of the delicious fennel sauce that accompanied it. I asked if I could get just the chicken liver pate instead of the whole charcuterie board, and they accommodated me with a smaller board with a huge portion of pate! We ended up sharing it with the table next to us. The cocktails are delicious as well. If you are staying anywhere near the area, this place is a must!

Front deck & seating. There's more seating out back near the gardens!

    Gluten free options?

Not sure! Thankfully I do not have to worry about that. Must be so hard to actually go out for a nice dinner and worry about being gluten free. The place is simply amazing so I am sure that there are options.

    Is it kid friendly?

Yes it is. We saw many kids there and they have a kids menu as well.

Whether you're winding down after a day on the slopes or simply looking for a hearty meal and good drinks, this spot offers a satisfying evening. Cocktails The cocktail menu impressed, especially the Allagash Blueberry Smash made with maple syrup vodka and fresh blueberries--a creative, flavorful New England twist. Everyone at the table agreed: the cocktails here are a highlight. Rating: 9/10 Entrees - Spicy Texas Brisket Pizza - Brisket, onion, jalapeño, cheddar, mozzarella ($28.75) This was a solid choice with a crispy crust and a good kick of heat from the jalapeños. However, the pizza leaned heavily on cheese and could've used a bit more brisket to balance it out. A great option for sharing--easily split among four people. Rating: 7/10 - The Bear Burger - 8oz Robie Farms beef, white cheddar, bacon, pulled pork, onion ring ($23.75) A beast of a burger in all the right ways. Rich, juicy, and layered with smoky, savory goodness--this one will leave you full and happy. Rating: 9/10 - Potato Crusted Salmon - Served over spinach, topped with honey mustard ($28.75) Sadly, this dish was a miss. The flour taste overpowered the crust, and the texture didn't come together as hoped. Lacked the finesse you'd expect at that price point. Rating: 2/10 - Yankee Pot Roast - Potatoes, carrots, celery ($37.50) The absolute standout of the evening. Hearty, comforting, and packed with flavor--you can tell this dish simmered all day. Tender meat, perfectly cooked veggies. Worth visiting just for this. Rating: 10/10 Desserts We tried the: - NY Style Cheesecake - Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake - Red Velvet Cloud Cake - Warm Apple Crisp Blossom à la mode Each dessert came with ice cream and offered something for every sweet tooth. For me, the Warm Apple Crisp stole the show--comforting and nostalgic with the perfect balance of cinnamon and crunch. Overall Ratings - Food: 8/10 - Cocktails: 9/10 - Affordability: 6/10 (A bit on the pricier side, but portions are generous) - Ambiance: 9/10 (Live music and ski lodge aesthetic made it cozy and fun) Final Thought: If you're staying at the Grand Summit or just passing through Bartlett, The Tap House is definitely worth a visit--especially for the live music, cocktails, the Bear Burger, and that unforgettable Yankee Pot Roast.

Seating is a little tight at these tables. There are booths and lower tables but you need to take what's available if you want to eat here. Believe me, you do want to eat here! We were served delicious Italian bread with delicious garlic, balsamic, cheese & rosemary dipping sauce. We were then served with salads with their own dressing. It was really good. We ordered toasted ravioli in a marinara sauce and two baseball sized meatballs. Both delicious. Then my honey got veal parmigiana, I got Chicken, Broccoli and Ziti in a white cheese sauce, and my sister got Chicken Marsala. We were very impressed with the portions and taste of all of these dishes. It was surprising to find such fine dining down a side street in North Conway near Zebs Country store. There is plenty of parking, a full bar, plenty of wines to choose from and handicap accessible. We rated this a 10 out of 10. We didn't have dessert as it was me and my twins Birthday. But, they sure looked delicious. Next time, and there will be a next time, I will try a dessert.

Drive 5 minutes over the state line to Putnam's in White River Junction, Vermont for that sommelier-staffed experience. Love the ambience and rigorous focus on elevated, quality ingredients, at Putnam's. They have a corkboard-covered 3-ring binder menu which is aptly named a Field Guide. Trust me, this name is earned by the Tasting Notes alone. The field guide is like a thesis for advanced Upper Valley sippers, Vermont or not. If you forgot your book or paper, just saddle up to the Putnam's Field Guide. You'll find an elaborate offering of editorial descriptions of beverages from wine to martinis (6 kinds) to beer and whiskey (one from Japan). Btw, it's rare to find a wine bar that doubles as a gorgeous coffeehouse serving pastries, espresso-based drinks, teas and breakfast sandwiches on weekends. I'm looking forward to enjoying them sometime if I'm back. The offering at Putnam's Vineyard rotates seasonally, so I will describe what was there on my visits. Visit their website for updated menu surprises. As for the evening and weekends Fall menu, they call their offering Picnic Food. It's a modest title for an extensive offering of appetizers and a few sandwiches. Think fancied-up olives, pretzels, Brazilian cheese puffs, a craft beer mix, 2 melty sammies with Vermont cheeses (1 with turkey, the other veggies), beet and chevre arancini, dips and a vast selection of desserts. Vermont cheeses, apricots, Marcona almonds, dried apricots and crostini are looking divine on the cheese board. Oh, and there's also Superbon Madrid potato chips with Osetra caviar and a mini spirit of Gaston Chiquet champagne. Just saying. There is also a weekend brunch menu with bagels and egg sandwiches. As for the wine, I recommend a flight at Putmam's. In the fall season, these flight offerings were named: the Bella Blanca Wine Flight, the Falling Leaves Mixed Wine Flight, Fireside Reds Red Wine Flight, The Forgotten Bunches Mixed Wine Flight and the almighty and an unforgettable Sparkler Flight. In this flight, I slowly savoured 3 wine sparklers at $25 total. (And no, I cannot spell savour without a "u.") These wine flights are a true value. And here are the wines in the sparkler flight: 1.) Cava 2021 by Avinyó 2.) Crémant de Bourgogne Sparkling Brut Rosé NV by Albert Bichot 3.) Lambrusco by Villa Castellazo ROTA The Cava is everything. All three were delightful and I showed up needing warm fuzzies on an evening where there was live music so the total experience was extra lovely. There is also a whiskey flight! The coffee and craft beverages selection for the fall/winter menu includes a nitro cold brew, a brown butter latte with Maldon sea salt and biscotti and a FROLA New Orleans style cold brew slushie with maple syrup and coconut cream. To any craft and coffee beverage you can add Vermont Ice Cream Coffee Liqueur or Whistle Pig Piggy Back Bourbon. Yes, please. If you are making a trip of it, catch the local bbq joint across the way from Putnam's at lunch and then visit the wine bar for drinks. Layer up, because I've been nippy there twice, and then linger over one delightful beverage after the next. Oh, and there is a charming wine shop at Putnam's with handmade gifts to peruse, as well.
