The owner was so so so sweet, and really took her time making sure my eyebrows looked just right. She was very pleasant and funny and I ended up chatting with her for a few minutes after i was done. It was quick and as painless as one would expect, and only $10! Also, she appreciates nice thick eyebrows. I'm always terrified that I'm going to leave a threader with pencil thin brows, but she kept mine lovely and thick, just cleaning up the bits that needed it. I'll definitely be back! read more

I found The Threading Place using Yelp since my usual place isn't open on Mondays. Asha, the owner, was really nice and actually takes time out to discuss what you want to do with your eyebrows, rather than jumping right into them like other places. She worked magic on my eyebrows.. I went to get a mani-pedi right after (obviously having a "me" day) and received compliments on my brow shape without mentioning that i'd just had them done... who wouldn't feel great after that. $10 threading, I think the loyalty card changed so that it's 1 free thread after 8 visits though. First off, this place is like a hidden cove. If you're taking the 29 bus from the central part of the loop, it's to your right. I'm not a fan of the thin arch per se, mostly because I have gross sparse caterpillar eyebrows, but more importantly I'd rather have even eyebrows and that's what I've got. I've never had my eyebrows threaded before but compared to waxing it's cheaper, less painful and less red. Nice little business, super cheap, I'm up for going back. read more

After reading all the positive reviews, I went in one day for threading for my eyebrows. I was shocked that the lady I was with did not ask me how I want my eyebrows after she asked me to just lay down and about to get started. I like mine curvy not too thin, but they usually assume you want yours done archy/pointy and thin. I explained to the lady I wanted a curvy shape but I don't think she knows what that means...and I showed her with my fingers drawing on my palm (she even asked for help from another coworker for translation). After she was done, she gave me the mirror, but the shape wasn't exactly what I was looking for but was acceptable. She missed a lot of hair here and there that were pretty obvious and I had to tell her. But one thing that anger me was that she started cutting my eyebrows after she was done WITHOUT asking me! A big no-no because for my brows, cutting it makes it grow back thicker (which makes some of my eyebrow hair pointing in odd directions uncontrollably). It was definitely disappointing. I usually go to a salon in Lakeview but that's really far from my house right now but might reconsider, at least I'm confident that they know what I want. Thank god I have a thick eyebrows or else it would have been a bigger risk of having my eyebrows done not the way I wanted it. read more

I've been two or three times. I love that this location is near my bf's place! It's so convenient and I normally never wait longer than 5 minutes. It's very clean and VERY affordable! The owner did my brows the 1st time and a different lady the other times. I think they both do a great job. However, the owner listened more. I like a thicker brow and one wrong move will make me a very dissatisfied customer. Mainly because it takes FOR-EVER to grow brows out. Anywho, this wil be my go-to place! Give them a try! I live up the street so I decided to give the place a try. I was able to get an appointment for eyebrow threading immediately and was back home in about 20 minutes. The service was very fast and very thorough. My threader gave me exactly what I asked for and also understood how to work with my natural eyebrow shape and curly hairs. The establishment is clean and quiet and the staff is very courteous. This will definitely be my regular eyebrow threading place. She gave me a thin arch which most other estheticians have been afraid to do. I will definitely be going back. I was in the South Loop and my eyebrows needed some cleaning up, so I decided to give this place a try. I had stumbled across their good reviews on here a while back, so I was comfortable heading in. When it comes to threading, waxing, etc. I am not willing to go to a place without doing some background research. I've heard some crazy horror stories of people getting their eyebrows threaded with dirty thread and then getting ridiculous infections, having half of their eyebrows chopped off, etc. - no thanks! Anyway, this shop is located in a building right on State Street, but the entrance is down the street on Plymouth and is a little hidden, in what looks like an office building. I walked in and there was a girl getting her eyebrows done so I took a seat and scouted out the place. The salon is very small, but is really cute, very clean and smelled great. They have 3 chairs for threading and a nice couch and lots of mags to browse in the waiting area. After about 10 minutes, I was next and Asha (the owner) assessed my brows saying I only needed a cleaning. This is by far one of the most painless threading I've ever had and I've gone to popular threading places like Sonia's in Andersonville and a slew of places up on Devon. After Asha was done with one eyebrow, she showed it to me to make sure I approved. I really appreciated that she even took the time to trim some strays as well as pluck some stubborn hairs - talk about thorough! Asha was really kind and even though she was the only one working and the waiting room was starting to fill up with customers, she did not rush at all and did a great job. A day later, I have no redness or irritation at all. All in all this was a VERY positive experience & would recommend this place without hesitation. Word seems to be out about this place, since by the time I left, there were about 4 other girls waiting. $10 without tip and the best part, that unlike most places where they only accept cash, they take credit card so no more hunting for an ATM! She did a great job on my eyebrows! I would suggest making sure you're specific and patient when there are many ladies waiting. I've also gotten underarm and bikini wax. While I don't recommend the bikini wax, I recommend for sure the underarm! $15 for hair loss that's so worth it. read more

Trust her. She knows what she's doing. For a Southsider, Devon is entirely too far (unless you're getting Indian food too, that is). She kept my bushy eyebrows on the thick side without them being overbearing and with a soft natural arch. She operates on the conservative side when it comes to hair removal so don't be scared! Then again, it can also be slightly frustrating if you want a high arch/thinner shape because she's reluctant to do so - well, not immediately but gradually. I'll certainly return! read more

This is not a review written because of a sudden bout of anger. I have been to Threading Plus 3 times now and I will not be returning. 1. RUDE People can be from different backgrounds and I'm not going to judge you if you can't speak English properly. I know Hindi, so I spoke to her the lady in her mother tongue. She was still rude. It's like she has absolutely no respect for her customer. She stares as you with disdain as though she's doing you a favor. 2. OUCH! I've been getting my eyebrows and upper lip threaded for the past 10 years. Never in my life have I experienced so much pain. It's just awful. The force with which she pulls away means that the thread keeps breaking and she has to start all over again. I specifically told her to be careful since I have a week of interviews ahead and I couldn't afford to have scars on my face. SO MANY CUTS! I don't even know how you've managed to massacre my skin so badly. 3. UNWANTED COMMENTS My previous visit to the threading place was 2 weeks before today. My lady still comments on how much growth I've managed to accumulate with a tone of disdain and wonder. When I point out that I was here exactly 2 weeks ago and this visit is only here for a minimal clean up, she still harps on about how much growth there is in a delusional manner and then proceeds to lecture me on the rate at which hair grows. I'm not even kidding. 4. CUSTOMER FEEDBACK IS DISLIKED. When she finished she proceeded to apply lotion to my face, without asking me, might I add. When I looked up, I said that she still needed to remove a few hairs from the top of my brow. You should have seen her face! 5. BREAKOUTS Each time I've gone there I've ended up with a zit on or near my lip and I didn't make the connection until now. Do not go there! The only time I actually managed to get a smile out of her was when she handed me the bill and it was time for me to write in the tip. Sure, it's cheap and they manage to maintain the shape of your eyebrows, but going here makes an already painful experience all the more worse. I will NOT BE RETURNING. read more

For threading, this is the BEST place in the South Loop. The women do a fantastic job, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the salon itself is clean and nice. I highly recommend it. And if you drive there like me (and it's worth the drive), street parking is really easy to find. read more

Awful experience. Rude and forceful was my conclusion. Couldn't even wait to get home to write this. When I accidentally walked into the residential side and couldn't find the place they curtly and with an attitude told me to ask someone. Then when I get the threading the woman forcefully grabs my arm and puts it into place to hold my eyes. She then forcefully takes it off as well. When I told her that she missed a ton of hair (and I mean a huge swatch) she says "hold it properly". Wow. If it wasn't proper the first time you could've just told me. I past by Threading Plus Salon before since I live in the neighborhood so I went on Yelp and found multiple good reviews. I already got threading done at Bella B Salon and thought it was just OK, but it was a little expensive at $12. I am very happy with the service and quality I get at Threading Plus Salon. The owner is very friendly. She has years of experience and she really takes her time to make sure you are happy with your eyebrows. I love that she is so customer focused and even gives away loyalty cards. The atmosphere is great with brightly colored walls and beautiful furniture. Lastly, it beats the competition because it is only $10 for threading. This is definitely my new favorite local threading location and I would definitely suggest others to give it a try too. read more

The first two times I came here were great and they are reasonably priced, for eyebrow and upper lip threading. The third time they cut the skin under my eyebrow and there is STILL a scar a month and a half later. I went only for my upper lip recently and they cut the skin above my mouth and also missed hair on the other side above my mouth. You get what you pay for, I guess. But if you want to avoid scars after getting simple threading, maybe go somewhere else. read more

When another person walked in (someone she seemed to know and acknowledged) she quickly finished, not even trimming my brows, plucking any errant hairs or giving me a mirror to check out the finished product. I moved to Chicago the beginning of this year and have been painfully searching for a new place to take care of my eyebrows. Lets face it, when eyebrows are done right you feel on top of the world and extremely confident. Well, I've been to various places in Hyde Park and Devon street, have suffered painful (yes actually painful!) experiences and have been disappointed each time. My friend was driving and I saw this place and made him stop and promised 5min and yup...it was 5 min! I was lucky to find the place empty and I'm embarrassed to not remember the lady's name but she sat me down right away and I didn't even need to explain how I like my brows shaped. Quickly and skillfully she left me with perfect brows! $10 is a little steeper than what I usually pay but it's worth it, especially now I don't have to go searching around for a new place. I came a second time and she recognized me and handled my brows with the same skill. BTW,This place is also hijab friendly for any girls who cover their heads. BUT.. my door was kept wide open during the wax period and when my waxing was over she just kept it open as if she was trying to keep me out!!! reading the wonderful reviews and I'll give it a shot. WOW. thats what I felt. My eyebrows are weird to begin with. Its its 1/2 full towards the inner corner of my eye. and the other half sort of disappears. its sparsely grown. I been to other places and they always say, can't do arch, not enough hairs. it doesn't look good, etc. so they always do this sort of straight curve. When I went to Threading Plus Beauty Salon. Oh wow. she even asked me. How do you like it? I said, is it possible for an arch. She said, of course, we'll start off thick and then tell me if u want it thinner. My brows were soooo beautiful. Never felt that way before. I so regretted letting my eyebrow piercing close up because it would have made the look perfect. I never gotten so much compliments about it. If you have a lot of hair and like the standard south Asian eyebrow arch, do not go here! I just moved to the Chicago area and tried this place out. I always get my eyebrows done when I have a good amount of hair grown out so my shape and arch will turn out perfectly. There was no point of waiting it out this time because the lady totally ruined my shape and left me with eyebrows that look like a arrow pointing upward. Very disappointing!! I left and came back twice after getting a closer look in my car and noticing uneven lines and small hairs that still needed to be cleaned up. There is also no sense of acknowledgement when any customer walks in. They actually look upset to keep getting customers. And they also talk amongst each other in Hindi as if no one knows what they are saying. Definitely won't be returning and definitely not worth $10 for eyebrows! read more

Threading Plus is a great alternative to the threading places on Devon. The owner is super friendly and customer focused. I'm so happy i've found a threading place in the city that isn't super expensive. She charges $4 for upper lip and $10 for eyebrows and for every 5 times you get your eyebrows done the 6th one is free. Definitely check this place out! read more

I came upon this place while walking my dog on our usual routes. I've been driving to Devon for threading for many years, but having recently moved to the SoLo area, I am getting tired of the drive so I thought I would give this place a shot. The owner, Asha, is friendly and like previous reviewers said, she takes her time and care with the work. She also listens to what you have to say and offers her suggestions in eyebrow shaping, etc. Threading Plus is a touch more expensive than the salons near Devon but Asha was happy to give me a comparable discount. I thought the few dollars extra I spent was more economical than the time and gas spent driving to Devon. I was happy to walk out with nicely shaped eyebrows and no more mustache. There was one customer in front of me, but it didn't take long for me to be waited on. This was my first threading experience (I'm a waxer). A little painful, but bearable.
