Three Brothers is a Houston institution. My favorite cookie of all time is their rainbow pinwheel- I almost hesitate to post this because now everyone knows to try these out and there will be less for me! I've really enjoyed everything I've ever had from Three Brothers so you really can't go wrong. Only drawback to this location is that they are not always fully stocked like the Braeswood location. Perhaps their recipe or baking technique has changed over the last year, because most of the recent reviews have the same recurring complaint about the cupcakes: they're dry and heavy (almost poundcake-like) I bought four cupcakes for my dude's birthday: lemon, coconut creme, strawberry, and Reese's. Two cupcakes went in the trash. The white/vanilla cake in the Lemon and Coconut Creme cupcakes was *extremely* dry and flavorless. Additionally, there was no hint of lemon or coconut in the cupcake batter; the flavor was only in the frosting. At $4 a pop, you can get a better cupcake at Crave. The pros about this location is the parking, the plentiful seating, kickin' A/C, and the dog-friendly patio. My cherry danish was pretty good, too. Across two visits here, this appears to be a more mediocre version of the wonderful experiences I've had at the location in the Memorial City area. Customer service on the more recent visit was weird, as I was told they don't carry any breads anymore ... but it's a bakery and the other location not only has them but they are quite good there??? Beyond just that, the individual seemed kinda checked out, whereas my many visits to the other location have always been pretty warm and positive. The thing is, there's always a lot to choose from in either case, and just basic questions like "what's popular here?" or "what do you recommend?" are ideally answered w/ something better than shrugs or IDKs. read more

First and foremost I've this place I think three brothers bakery has the best Key Lime Pie in HTX. Today I went in for cookies, we waited all week for the $1 cookie special. Went in and had 2 people ahead of me, there was a clear line formed with about 2 of us, my turn next and I'm completely skipped over. Ok... Waited again, skipped over again. Not sure how this happened. The cashier told me the girls name is Morgan. Not sure why I was treated this way but I gave 2 stars, somehow the cookies are not as satisfying when your service was crappy. We live in the neighborhood and visit at least twice a week for desserts and breads. Not sure if feel comfortable visiting that location again. read more

Three Brothers is a great place for a date or to order a cake for a special event. We have done both. I am going to give them five stars today and here's why: Star 1: First visit- we had a red velvet and banana cupcake with coffee. The cake was moist and the icing sweet (a little sweet for me, but I'm not complaining). Coffee was delish! Star 2: On the first visit we also ordered a cake for my in-laws' anniversary. We ordered a white on white cake with pearls of two colors and a 'Happy Anniversary' tag on top. The ordering process was easy and they answered all our questions happily. Star 3: The cake was 25 dollars, available when they said it would be, cake was moist, again, icing was pure sugar (but NO ONE complained haha). My mother-in-law was thrilled and helped herself to a big piece. Star 4: This place has plenty of parking, which can be a nightmare on Washington sometimes. Star 5: Three Brothers is clean and spacious and new and wonderful. The atmosphere is my favorite because it feels sterile, yet warm. Recently had their cakes catered to my office for a holiday party and was greatly disappointed. We are very familiar with their poppyseed bread, which is delicious, and had high expectations for their cakes. Our office had the carrot cake and red velvet. Both had a very unusual texture, and crumbled awkwardly when cut into. Cake to icing ratio was another tell-tale sign something would be off - layers were unequal and heavy with icing. Despite odd texture and appearance, we gave these cakes a try. Sadly, the cake itself was extremely dry and the frosting super sweet. There wasn't much flavor profile to either cake, making the red velvet and carrot cake almost indistinguishable from one another. Most guests threw their slices away, the trash can had several plates of half eaten slices. The sad display of crumbled dry cakes stayed in the breakroom for the remainder of the day since no one had the heart to throw away so much uneaten cake. One employee, who has past experience as a baker, weighed in to the possible problem stating the cake it most likely frozen and very old. This seems true since several reviews mention dry cakes. Still keeping them at 2 stars since the poppyseed bread is good, but would steer clear from ordering much else. read more

I was there the other night and man is the night crew much better than morning. I talked to this dude named Miguel and he was super cool and friendly! The other guy there was pretty nice and the girl I recognized from mornings. She's also a nice one in mornings, but if it's this other lady morning is not the time. Morning has this older lady with redish hair that's always rude. I've made small talk but she doesn't seem internet. I also noticed if I take a while to order she gets snippy and rolls her eyes at questions. It's hard to make a decision on that store because everything is so good and I want to try it all! This was not my first time ordering from Three Brothers Bakery, I ordered my daughter's 16th birthday cake and it was amazing. Sorry I don't have a picture. However, I trusted this bakery again for another event dear to me my 1st grandchild's baby shower. I was not disappointed the cake was amazing. I called the day before due to I totally forgotten about the cake. I called the bakery and was told the design I wanted, it wasn't enough time. Ok great I offered a few scattered ideas, but left the final design to the bakery. So I had no idea how the finish product would look. When I saw the cake I was shocked it was everything I wanted, but couldn't put it into words. They did an amazing job and the cake was delicious. This place is fantastic 100% of the time. The staff is always friendly and polite. They really make coming to visit a pleasant experience. The desserts are always amazing. My husband gets the slice of cheesecake that has pecan pie inside of it and I always get a brownie. They have the best brownies I have had in my life and I am a dessert addict. The carrot cake was so dry and it lacked so much. It just crumbled too. I have never had a cake like that before. Someone put too much flour in their batter and messed this cake up. It was really bad. And I'm so sorry to say it but you really need to experiment with different recipes. That one just lacked everything you hope for in a carrot cake. I make a really good one if you want my recipe. The icing was good. Maybe a tad too sweet but it was really good. I hate leaving such a bad review but I have to be real. Yesterday was my son's 18th birthday. I thought I would get some fancy cupcakes. BOY was I WRONG. I purchased 4- lemon, strawberry, and 2 types of chocolate. I took one taste (if you could call it that) and could barely swallow it. Both the lemon and strawberry tasted like cardboard, no flavor, dry, and dense. We attempted a chocolate and it at least had flavor and not as dry. I won't make that mistake again and still to HEB bakery items. So I wasted $20 and my son did not get to enjoy any birthday cake. King Cake review! Their King Cake is excellent, it's not dry like the ones you typically find in the grocery stores and they have a nice selection of fruit fillings to choose from. Our office has ordered a variety of treats from here over the years, usually pretty good. The last item we ordered was the monster 3pies in 3 cakes concoction for $250. Nobody in the office cared for it. The flavors Clashed like crazy and it was dry and hard. Not worth $15, much less $250. You guys might want to drop that gimmick item from your menu. It's kind of disorganized, there's no order and no one there to greet you, i walked up to the counter thinking it was like at a meat market where you got someone to help you .So I just waited in line. I went to the Three Brother's Bakery in Bellaire the city, when I lived in that area, so when I heard that they had opened up off Washington Ave near my new living quarters I was ecstatic. The location is towards the back of the strip center, so be on the look out or you might miss it. This location is newly updated, with lots and lots of space. Great for grabbing a cup of coffee and some snacks and hanging out. On this particular trip we just grabbed some items to go. Everything looked delicious so we ordered a wide variety of items. We got both the chocolate and vanilla petite fours, a cinnamon roll, a red velvet cake ball, and an almond bar. The petite fours were fine, the cinnamon lacked the amount of cinnamon I usually like, the red velvet cake ball was actually a chocolate cake ball, which I HATE. Overall, I doubt I would come back, but if I do I would stay there and take advantage of the seating since it's a great space. read more

I asked to check cause there usually alittle cheaper. He said they have been 6.95 for years. I knew better. I decided on the chocolate specialty cupcake which was a little more but was very pretty. Recieved from the unfriendly young guy and ugh... if i wasnt so far away i would have returned. The cake was hard and cold and dry. Underneath the ganache was a globs of hard icing.
