Not really into their food, although I didn't try the wings... which are supposed to be their "specialty". If I go back, i'll try them and update this review, otherwise the food is below average to average. They are really cheap though, so if you're balling on a budget this is the place for you. The only reason I go here is for the drinks and because it's super close to where I live. You can't beat a $3 sex on the beach... granted there is an up charge for top shelf liquor. The waiters/waitresses here are always amazing... super friendly and chatty. Not everyone would enjoy that but I'm okay with it. When we got our food it was an hour after we arrived and 2/5 orders were wrong and one meal was missing. They took our orders again and 2 meals came out and one was still missing. When we finally got the last meal about 1.5 hours after arriving I finally got a refill on my drink and the manager had his fingers over the lip of the cup and there was a fly in the drink. ALEX had such a bad attitude after HE messed our order up, he acted like his job wasn't to serve us, he never once checked up on us asked if everything taste ok NOTHING, no refills either, and we ordered my 2 year old daughter a watered down lemonade she didn't receive that until we had to ask when our food got delivered, once he thought we were done eating he didn't ask if our group was together or separate, he just assumed and brought us one bill because he wanted the gratuity tip which definitely was not deserved. Great food "OMG" the food here is so delicious with so many different things to choose from. My go to choices are the grilled or blackened fish tacos, they are to die for. And then the Pecan Bleu salad with a grilled chicken breast is amazing. My wife loves the lemon pepper wings (wet) and the fish sandwich grilled. The service is excellent especially Jessica aka Molly or Ericka. The drinks are stiff and the bill is comfortable if your on a budget. And a lot of tv's to choose your favorite sport or team. I love that they have $3 cocktails here! The Long Island iced tea is really good for only being $3. Their drink prices are really reasonable even if you don't get the $3 ones. We did not try food at this establishment, but the menu options looked really good. This location is very close to our house so we will definitely be going back more often. The new owners of this establishment in no way know how to treat their guests. In fact I didn't feel welcome at all. As many times as I have been here, I have yet to be disappointed. Whether I'm stopping in for a drink at the bar, dinner with my son or hanging on the patio (weather permitting) with friends, every visit has been been great. Went here the other night for a late dinner, which can be problematic in most Atlanta neighborhoods. I ventured out at around 9:30PM. Most restaurants (outside the perimeter ones that do not serve alcohol) close at between 8:30PM to 10PM. So at 9:30PM you should concentrate on bars and pubs which tend to stay open late, especially on weekend nights (this was a Tuesday night). I walked in and sat down but it seemed as if no one either cared or took notice. I was hungry and impatient and after five minutes walked out. I walked around the strip mall / shopping plaza and found no viable alternatives. So I proceeded to walk to a nearby diner and discovered it was closing at 10PM (and the time at that point was around 9:50PM) so I opted to return to 3 Dollar Cafe. I am glad I did. The menu is relatively limited to a few items per category - which can be a good thing. But the menu design is lousy; it is hard to read in a darkened restaurant. I dealt with the awful menu design and opted for the Southwest Chicken Salad. My salad was basically a huge bed of romaine lettuce, black beans, tortilla chip strips, diced tomatoes, cold grilled chicken, and a side of Cowboy Dressing (but I opted for Blue Cheese instead). The salad itself was average but the dressings made up for that. Though nothing special unto itself, it is a huge salad - perhaps enough for two people to share. And the dressing serving / servings on the side are huge also. When the chef / cook delivered it to my table, he said something like, "You know you messed up, right?" He then explained that the Cowboy dressing is phenomenal: homemade ranch mixed with a famous gourmet sweet barbecue sauce. I think he said it was called something like Sweet Baby Ray's Famous Sauce. The guy wasn't lying. He brought me a whole serving of it to try (in addition to the Blue Cheese). It was excellent. So was the Blue Cheese Dressing but perhaps that is to be expected because this place specializes in Buffalo Wings. Perhaps this place really deserves 3.5 stars but on this visit I will go with four. read more

Come to find out, this is a Three Dollar Cafe Junior. That means that they don't have all the menu items at this location. I'm not sure why it's a Junior, but I'm sort of a picky eater and was none too pleased when everything I liked online was no where to be found on the menu. We sat upstairs on a little covered patio. There were lots of big screen tvs. The service left some to be desired. This place has a lot of beer and since we were upstairs, we obviously couldn't see the taps (there's no bar upstairs), so we asked for a beer list. They had some trouble finding one and once they did, they kept trying to take it away from us! How does a place that prides itself on being a sports bar with a big beer selection not have enough beer menus to go around? I got the Caesar salad with added shrimp. I got the large portion but frankly, it seemed kind of small. I'm not sure if they gave me the small by accident or it was just little. It tasted decent at least. My husband had some sort of chicken sandwich that he liked, but said was extremely spicy and he's a big fan of spicy foods. All in all, we were not impressed. If you love extra crispy food (fries and chicken nuggets) sitting in a pool of grease then you'll love their food. I'm assuming that the mild "sauce" that appeared to be rubbed on more extra crispy nuggets was due to the same lengthy cooking process as my garlic parmesan nuggets sitting in a pool of grease. My sister and I frequent this location. Our cousin from TX was visiting for the weekend and we decided to bring her to our favorite cafe. Unfortunately, we experience what appeared to be discriminatory service. We placed our food and beverage order. However, the mixed drinks were not to our liking so we sent them back ordering beers instead. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and accommodating. However, the bar tender was combative stressing the fact that the mixed drinks were made based on the recipe and reiterating that she could not remove the charge of the tickets from our drinks. We never asked for this credit we simply wanted our beers. It seems the young lady was very fretful of the manager blaming her and charging her for our dissatisfaction with the mixed drinks. Despite the obvious engagement the manager was intentionally elusive. He catered to another table of 4 people. Turning off the music and turning all of the tvs in our area to the soccer game. We found it rude as we were enjoying the basketball came. Nevertheless, we dismissed his actions continuing to enjoy our chat. After waiting for some time for our order - two fired fish sandwiches and 6 wings. We noticed the table of 4 people who had come in 20 minutes after us were receiving their order - platter of wings, platter of fries, plater of tacos... at least 5 platters of food. It was at this point we realized the delay was intentional because we had sent the drinks back. When the manager Pedro Manzano finally decided to come to our table he stated the POS System was down. We were immediately offended. If the POS System was down how is it the party that sat after us received their food. If the POS System was down the staff would be unable to retrieve any orders. We paid for all drinks (the bad mixed drinks and the beers) and left. This was a disheartening experience. We patron the restaurant for the great food and ambience. However, this encounter deterred us from any future visits. read more

The Three Dollar Café is a fairly standard sports bar with several locations throughout the Atlanta area. The one I visit most often is the Chamblee-Tucker (in the same shopping center as Kroger, where Loop Pizza was once) location though much in this review could apply to all of them. The appearance of the interior is decent enough. Given that is location was fairly recently built it doesn't look dated but it also lacks the charm of the quite less fancy original. One thing I must comment on is the temperature. It has been distinctly warm, uncomfortably so, during my last two visits. There is a dining area with high tops in the bar area, another facing outward at the parking lot, and outdoor seating is available on the roof. The view isn't so great, but on a cool fall or spring night it isn't so bad. The food is fairly typical sports bar food - burgers, chicken fingers and wings, a few different types of sandwiches and so on. I nearly always order the chicken fingers. They are quite good, the sauce is tasty and I particularly enjoyed the chunky blue cheese dressing. It is usually served with steak fries, which are quite unremarkable. A French Dip is available and is good, but not great. I did enjoy the homemade potato chips served with a hot blue cheese dip poured on top. The beer selection is fairly decent. It looked as if there may have been 20 or more beers on tap. The pricing here in range with other area bars. The service can be a bit slow. There certainly isn't any sense of urgency among the wait staff. It's not terrible, but about what one expect in a typical sports bar. It's certainly worth a shot if you live in the area, want to watch the game over beer and wings and don't expect to be blown away. Three stars for food. Three stars for service. Three stars for atmosphere. Pros: Decent bar food, decently priced, nice beer selection. Cons: Lackadaisical service and wait staff. Verdict: Recommended. read more

My husband and I just ate Father's Day dinner at this location and we were incredibly pleased with the meal and service. We ordered 20 medium wings, all drums. They came out perfectly. Right temperature, right level of sauce, plump, juicy, crispy perfection. Our fries were great, too. I ordered squash casserole that tastes like an exquisitely cheesy dessert. Our server was Brittany. She was polite, attentive and kept our Diet Cokes full at all times. She took good care of us, joked around but most importantly made sure we were happy with everything. Great spot in an area that is under-served by the bar/restaurant industry. I've gone frequently over the last few months and have eaten from every part of the menu -- it's all BETTER than similar places. Example -- order the fish sandwich and instead of what-seems-like-mrs.-pauls, you get a HUGE fresh battered piece of fish that dwarfs the bun. Also don't skip the onion rings. GREAT selection of crafts on tap, too.
