Moncha Cafe (est 2025) is a new boba tea in SGV. They are located at a corner plaza in Valley blvd and San Gabriel blvd. They have a modest selection of boba tea and snacks such as popcorn chicken. I made a quick stop by to grab their Strawberry Jasmine Green tea x Sakura boba. It was light and refreshing. Their popcorn chicken was decent bit crispier than most popcorn chicken in the entire valley. I won't it order again. Staff was nice, attentive and professional. I appreciate the intention of Moncha Cafe (Rosemead). I ordered the Iced Flower Tea ($5) with Brown Sugar Agar Boba (additional 75 cents). The tea is refreshing, crisp, and pleasant. Unfortunately, I sat on a sticky couch covered in long strands of old hair in a musty, unswept, grimy room while Staff casually rested by the counter. The location felt gross and unmaintained. I arrived at Moncha Cafe (Rosemead) on Tuesday - May 12, 2026 (at 12PM - Opening Time). The location was DIRTY! I quickly found parking in the small lot; it fits about 15 cars. Staff interaction felt nonexistent. Customers primarily order at the Self-Service Kiosk. I dislike how the kiosk requires a cell phone number to proceed. My drink took two minutes and 45 seconds. Quick. As mentioned, I ordered the Iced Flower Tea ($5) with Brown Sugar Agar Boba (additional 75 cents). YUM! The Iced Flower Tea is a combination of Chrysanthemum, Chrysanthemum buds, Osmanthus, and Gomphrena Amaranth Flowers. The tea is honey-like, crisp, and thirst quenching. Concerning the boba, it's floral with a grape-like texture; it's an acquired taste. On ambiance, Moncha Cafe (Rosemead) has wonderful potential. For example, I absolutely LOVE the plentiful electrical outlets, MANY boardgames for customers, and plush seating. There's also customer internet with password; details proudly displayed on the counter. And there's a gender neutral restroom. The lighting and art is also attractive. Unfortunately, during my visit, Moncha Cafe (Rosemead) reminded me of an unmaintained, public city bus. I have seen "B Grade" Businesses that are cleanlier... The crevices and corners are littered with crumbs; parts of the tables are sticky; the couches and cushions are entangled with long, old hair. Overall, Moncha Cafe (Rosemead) is not bad. I genuinely enjoyed their tasty, affordable tea. However, I don't feel comfortable enough to return if they're unable to maintain a standard of cleanliness. We stopped by this spot while looking for some late night popcorn chicken. The price for the size of popcorn chicken was pretty good! The chicken was tender inside and perfectly crispy outside. The employee at the front was very nice and the interior aesthetic was laidback and modern. We really enjoyed the teapot/teaset that came with two cute little glass tea cups. I stopped by in the afternoon on a Friday to get some work done. As someone who is very sensitive to caffeine, I was happy to see lots of caffeine-free options. I opted for the strawberry floral tea (caffeine-free due to chrysanthemum tea base) with brown sugar agar boba and popcorn chicken with Chinese bbq seasoning. The employee brought my drink and food directly to my table. I was surprised by the boba because I originally thought it was brown sugar OR agar boba but they flavor their agar boba with brown sugar. Agar boba is not my favorite, but it's good with the brown sugar! The floral tea was interesting, but I think I'd opt for something else next time as I found the chrysanthemum flavor a little too overpowering. The chicken is not the Taiwanese style. Heard about Moncha Cafe through Yelp SGV. They just recently had a Grand Opening. Thought I give them a try since I was in the neighborhood in Rosemead. Came here with my eldest daughter. They weren't super busy at the time. Parking lot is quite small. We got lucky with parking since our visit was during low peak hours. Cute spacious inside space with reasonable amount of seating for customers to chill, chit chat, do homework, or just relax with an iced or hot drink of choice. Restrooms are available in the back. Yay, free WiFi! They have board games, too. Ordering can be done via the self-ordering kiosk or at the counter. Lady staff was super nice and friendly, but a tad soft spoken. I could barely hear her speak at times. She was kind to deliver our drinks to our table. Thank you Miss for the above and beyond service! My daughter got the Peach Flower Tea with lychee jelly. It has a hint of chrysanthemum tea flavor. Very nice and light. Flavor was subtle, but soothing. I liked it a lot. I got the Midnight Jasmine Milk Tea with sakura boba. It was smooth and refreshing. We stopped in for lunch and tried the Popcorn Chicken with three kinds of seasoning: Salt & Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, and Rotisserie Chicken. They were all good, but we especially loved the Garlic Parmesan. It took the chicken from great to excellent! We're usually low-carb eaters so we don't drink milk teas or boba drinks, but they had hot teas so we decided to try the Blooming Green Tea Pot and the Flower Tea Pot. Both were good, though the Blooming Green Tea was a bit more earthy and savory. They included a little pitcher of honey and spoons on the side to sweeten the tea. For the fries, I mixed honey butter and chinese bbq. The flavor was really good! They gave me a spicy powder too that added this chinese lamb skewer taste to it. The powder combo had a nice balance of spicy, sweet and savory bbq. A big portion too for $5. My main compliant would be the size of the powder. My friend and I decided to co-work here at Moncha Cafe on a Friday afternoon. I got the Honey Flower Tea, which seems to be a blend of flowers. It taste just like chrysanthemum and osmanthus, which I believe are in the blend. It's brewed very well and not overly sweetened with honey, the ratio is just right! They offer plenty of appetizer snacks as well. The pictures don't do this place justice. The cafe is much nicer, brighter, and more spacious in person than how it looks from the outside and on yelp photos. Also noticed Sakura boba-never had it so added that-- best choice! It was bouncy, chewy with a "snap", will definitely choose this over the brown sugar boba. The garlic Parmesan popcorn chicken was a great choice, too. It was crispy & flavorful. Met the owner, Chu, really down to earth, overall good guy. I do hope his business thrives. I honestly thought that they would have some Chifa like lomo saltado, but I'm sure the owner would come up with something to stay true to their roots. Seems like the stuff that makes them stand out are their blue corn drinks and marucuya (passionfruit). My partner and I visited this spot and it is very quiet. People come here to study and it's pretty serene. The service was also pretty nice too. If you're sensitive to caffeine, you're in luck. I went at around 10:30pm Tuesday night, and there was a good amount of people here! The room space is very spacious and has plenty of seating, great for those who want to sit and chat or study. I tried out the Peppermint Bark Oolong Milk Tea and Popcorn Chicken. Peppermint Bark Oolong Milk Tea - I thought it was an interesting combination between peppermint and oolong, but it worked! I was sipping my drink initially didn't taste as much until I stuck a straw in and drank through the ice. At 75% sweet, it was the perfect balance of sweetness and milk tea. Popcorn Chicken - The portion size was pretty generous for being $6! I was also surprised that it came with 3 sauces (bbq, ranch, and sriracha). Personally, I don't use sauces when eating popcorn chicken, but it felt nice to have a variety of options. As for the chicken itself, it's definitely a batter, so not the typical Taiwanese style popcorn chicken if that is what you are expecting. I ordered mine at Spicy level, and I think the amount of chili powder ended up affecting the chicken's crispiness. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken, and will make adjustments next time. Drove by this location multiple times and I finally have a chance to try. They have a spacious spot with many tables. You can order from the kiosk or talk to the friendly staff. The owner happened to be there and explained the menu to me. He is Peruvian Chinese so his menu is inspired by that. The midnight milk tea comes from infused purple corn syrup that he makes in house. He was very friendly and offered me a variety of samples to try before ordering. I decided to order the mango green tea for my husband. He said that it was a good mango flavor, but could use more tea. I ordered the midnight jasmine milk tea because I really liked the purple corn syrup that he let me taste. I got that with the Sakura crystal Boba because that was infused with actual Sakura . I liked it a lot. It tasted yummy and not too milky and not too sweet. I also ordered the popcorn chicken. Seems like they were in Pasadena in the past and doing catering events and selling out of small businesses - now they finally opened a storefront in Rosemead! Stopped by on a weeknight and ordered a few drinks. Menu is pretty simple with tea, milk tea, coffees, and specialties. I was intrigued about the midnight jasmine green tea, but the barista described it as a bubblegum flavored tea which I wasn't fond of. I ended up ordering the matcha latte, less sugar and ice - $6. This was my favorite drink out of the bunch. Wasn't too sweet, and had a good matcha flavor. I will say that I wished the matcha flavor was a little bit stronger. Would definitely order this again. Oolong milk tea with brown sugar agar boba ($5 + $0.50) with less ice and less sugar. The drink was good, but I felt that there was a lack of oolong tea flavor. It was a little bit on the milkier side. I did enjoy the agar boba, but the brown sugar added an extra sweetness to the overall tea. Assam black milk tea with brown sugar agar boba ($5 + $0.50) - less sugar and ice. I enjoyed this drink! They use nondairy creamer for the teas, which muted the sweetness. I could taste the tea flavor, and the agar went well with the tea. Currently they're having a soft opening promotion for 20% off and a free Assam tea with purchase. The Assam tea almost tasted like an herbal tea. Very refreshing, and not overly sweet. Interior is very spacious with lots of tables for studying or chatting. They have a lot of cute wall art, and I did see some games that customers can play. The workers were very friendly. It would be nice if they eventually add food to the menu. Also would be nice if they have a chewy boba option, as well as a cream top, but that's just my particular preference Parking lot is fairly spacious. Doesn't seem like there is much traffic in this plaza. tl;dr - another new mom and pop boba shop in the SGV! Hoping they continue to improve and be a stable boba shop in the near future. read more

Cute place for simple drinks. There are lots of tables with spacious seating for people to hang out or work. The parking lot is a one way entry, but shares with unbusy stores so theres plenty of parking. Drinks were fine, nothing special. read more

I checked out this new boba spot with a friend and decided to try their Arnold Palmer! I didn't really look into what they were known for. I just wanted something light and refreshing and it totally hit the spot! The drink was perfectly balanced: not too sweet, not too sour, just really refreshing overall. I'd definitely come back to try more of their drinks! The shop itself was spacious and super cute, with fun decor :) Parking was easy, though I can see the entrance being a little tricky since it's right by a busy intersection. I think my friend and I might've met the owner because he was incredibly sweet! He surprised us with free fries on the house! They were fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. Heard great things about this new tea spot in Rosemead, so I decided to stop by. It looks like they're in their soft launch right now and gearing up for a full opening. Upon entry, it's a cute little tea spot to hang out and chill, with a few photo areas. They have Wi-Fi and a good number of tables to relax or study. I came with a group of friends, and we tried a large assortment of teas. The owner even told us about some of their new Halloween drinks, which we got to try out. All the drinks I tried were perfectly made, and one standout was their Sakura Boba -- I 100% recommend getting it. They definitely have some unique drinks, so I'd love to come back and try some of the wilder ones. Parking: There's a small lot in front shared with a few other spots. My first experience with this place was a bad one. My wife was craving popcorn chicken and Mr Dragon was closed today. We searched on yelp and found this place recently opened. The pics of the popcorn chicken looked good, promising. I called in to place a pick up order and thats where the problems started. A guy answered the phone and said "Hello?" He sounded unsure why I was calling. I answered back, Hello...?? I paused for a second and asked is this Moncha? He said yes this is. So I said can I place an order? He responded back yes is it going to be for dine in or pick up. In my head I was wondering why anyone would call to place a dine in order. Anyways I responded with pick up. I told him my order and he responded saying uhh let me check if I have enough to make that, uh yea I think we can take your order. I said okay. He responded back with okay. I was waiting for him to ask for my name, number, give me the total, tell me how long, something, but no, he just said okay and that was it. I told my wife the guy on the phone sounded new so not sure how this is going to go. She was really craving popcorn chicken so she didn't want to get something else. She drove over there to go get it and the guy said it would be 20 min. She decided to go pick our daughter up and then head back. It was a little over 20 min when she got back and she had waited another 5 or so minutes. She asked the guy how long would it be and he said it'll be min. The oil is still heating up. My wife responded to just cancel the order because it seemed like it was going to take longer then expected. He then responded saying it has only been 15 min when since she left which was wrong. Overall bad first impression of this place. They need to train better or hire more people because he was by himself and didn't know how to run the place. Was craving boba late one night and Moncha was thankfully open! I am so grateful for the late hours. I ordered the midnight jasmine milk tea, not knowing what it was exactly, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! I found out it is made with peruvian purple corn which gives it a beautiful lavender color and a delicate taste. I would come back again for it. So new tea shop on the block so I had to go try it. It's currently on soft opening so they have two promotions and you can use both at the same time. The first promotion is 20% off and the second is a free assam iced tea (which is black tea). The free tea is sweetened. I ordered a Oolong Milk tea and I got it with regular sweetness and I would have to say it was good. They don't fill the cup with like 90% ice and it's not too sweet for regular sweetness. I usually like to try the full sweetness when I first try a place. The free assam tea was good too. It's sweet ice black tea. Not overly sweetened either. I like the cups they use, it's a premium cup that's nice a thick. Pricing of this place is very affordable, even without the promotion the drinks are affordable. It's around 5 dollars per drink, not filled with ice, so I would say it's worth the 5 bucks. The service was good, I had questions about the menu since it was my first time here. I asked about dairy free options and luckily the milk tea does have a dairy free creamer option. Yay for lactose intolerant people! They also have just regular tea as well. The inside of the place is very nice and clean. Has a upscale vibe and the music choose is quiet and not too loud. The music is pretty calm and smooth and definitely a place you can sit and chat or study. Parking for this place is good too. The parking is a one way so you need to enter on Valley and exit off Walnut Grove. It's a pretty low entry so it's low car friendly. Since it's a one way parking lot, you can take over the entire ramp if your car is super slammed to the ground to get up. I didn't have to take an extreme angle. Overall, solid 5/5! Highly recommend checking this place out. Their soft opening goes until 10/2 and currently has 2 promotions which you can stack! Not picking one or the other but you can use both! read more
