I came here in the morning so I have yet to try any of the ice cream. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on white toast. Came out hot and fresh and to go. Very tasty. A little more pricey compared to your regular fast food offerings. 5 and change for 1 breakfast sandwich. I also ordered a small smoothie which was tasty but also a little more pricier but in my opinion it's worth it. I'll have to see what else they have to offer next time I go. read more

While attending an event down the street, some fellow Yelpers recommended stopping here for dessert. Did somebody say ice cream?! Yeah... I'm in. My girlfriend was pleased that they offered an actual small portion, as most places smalls are still a single monster scoop. She was very happy with her black raspberry, with chocolate jimmies, atop a tasty waffle cone. I decided on a blondie sundae, with their kulfi ice cream (almond base with cinnamon, cardomom, pistachio). Wow! That ice cream was packed with flavor and oh so delicious! I was quite pleased that the sundae was prepared a bit differently than most places; It came in a tall cup and seemed to be a layering of blondie pieces, ice cream and hot fudge. It allowed for a much more balanced eating experience. Can't comment on their other offerings, but the ice cream is awesome. With their house-made flavors, Three Sisters knocks it out of the park. I like it here. Now, It can get a little congested at the counter when you order as there is food, coffee and icecream and its First Come seating but the product is worth it. I went back yesterday to have ice-cream with a friend from FL visiting RI to show off the place that offers good ice-cream, to my disappointment, the staff's vibes was not inviting, I yet ordered a banana split. When we went to sit, all chairs were already put up on the tables so we thought they were closing in 15 mn or so. I asked and they said oh no we're not closing till 8pm. The tables were dirty and sticky. The place was filthy. What a bummer. And to top it off my banana split had only one half of a banana cut lengthwise . I hope this place picks up the slack cause it's very convenient and use to be cute and clean. read more

This place has a great friendly vibe. The staff are always helpful, we asked for burgers which they normally do for dinner after 3pm, but they went ahead and made them for us anyways even though they were busy. The burgers are good I've tried the Gringo and the fauxpress. I prefer the Gringo which has thick slices of avacado on it. The fries were/are my favorite part. Perfect crispy and thickness ratios in my opinion. Plus it was all made fast, less than 5 mins from the time we ordered to the time they set it in front of me. Of course no review of three sisters is complete without talking about their specialty (ice cream) which is fantastic! They have all the standard flavors that I love like cookie dough plus they have tons of interesting flavors for ppl like my gf who want something different everytime like Aztec chocolate. Three Sisters is by far the best ice cream in Providence (and maybe even Rhode Island!) The selection of flavors is fantastic and the ice cream is just so rich and tastes homemade. I took my sister here her first night visiting from California, and we got to the store just after closing. The owner was so gracious and let us stay inside outside of the rain as we waited for a ride home, and even offered us a small scoop each. This kind gesture and hospitality truly turned around a really difficult day. Please consider visiting this store over a chain ice cream brand for a personal and cozy experience and 10x better ice cream (P.S. they also serve amazing drinks, pastries, and breakfast/brunch!) Dramatic dip in my star rating, I know. Allow me to explain. There are several things I missed the first time around that I unfortunately discovered upon my return just a couple days ago. I think a bullet list is the best method here: - Dust and mold. Yup, I said it. It's everywhere! I can't believe I didn't notice! I'm embarrassed, and disgusted. There is a ceiling fan and air vent situation right over the dining area, and both have a hefty coating of thick, gray dust. How much dust has fallen onto plates and into drinks?! I looked around more to find cobwebs lining the doorways and window areas, and the walls are kind of filmy. Even the ventilation unit over the griddle area is adorned with a smattering of mold all the way around. The A/C unit is crusty with rust and it's own coating of greasy, dusty goo. - Even before the dust and mold discovery, the ordering process was painful. The girl at the counter was looking at me when I was talking, but she was definitely not listening. I had to repeat myself a couple times. It was as if I was a bother. I hold a similar job, so it occurred to me to ask questions along the way. I'm glad I did! Apparently there are options for bread and sandwich toppings. What if I didn't specify what I wanted? Would she have just made it up? Very rude. She didn't even crack a smile, either! - Quite a while later when our plates finally arrived our order was wrong. Apparently the girl taking the order did not correctly communicate, and we ended up with two egg and cheeses with onions on them, rather than one plain on English muffin, and one on onion bagel. I sent mine back. The girl who took my sandwich back was accommodating and nice about things...she apologized and got me my food very quickly. She was the only good thing about the visit. The first round of sandwiches were almost cold, though. How long were they sitting around before they got to our table? We were sitting like 12 feet from the griddle! - Frankly, I've had better egg and cheeses at fast food joints. Overall, everything was bland. Specifically, the English muffin and bagel were practically tasteless, and spongy in texture. The eggs were fine, but kept falling out of the sandwich - I think the egg-to-bread ratio was off. No clue what kind of cheese I ate. It would have been nice to know. - Looking around some more only made matters worse. It became apparent that whoever is responsible for this cafe is lazy and lacks attention to detail. The ceiling over the kitchen had several pieces of patchwork, yet no one bothered to make a professional looking repair, despite the area being so very visible to the public. The counter where customers prepare their coffee and such was sticky, as well as every single thing I touched. It was also rather sloppily repaired at one point, leaving bolts exposed (which, someone had creatively "covered" with masking tape!) Even the cute little corner where they hold board games for customers to use was a mess, and clearly neglected. If all of these things were in the "front of house"...what's happening in the "back of house"? Just makes you think.... So, never again. I'm sad. I wanted to love this place! And, I'm still wondering if a mug of coffee is free refills. Why hasn't anyone told me yet? That's something customers should and want to know! read more

Not good - I ordered a breakfast sandwich, fries and iced matcha. The fries were stuck to the top of the melted styrofoam container (paper liner?) and the matcha was grey - not green; usually that means it's stored incorrectly (light/air) or old. My order wasn't complete (missing an item). Just low quality overall; sandwich was decent but not worth another visit. I visited Three Sisters for the first time this morning. The breakfast burrito was delish, Snowball coffee hot & fresh, and the home fries were tasty. However the food was served with a heaping helping of attitude from the surly staff. Upon arriving, it's not clear if you are to wait to be seated or if you are supposed to order at the counter (hint: it's the latter) so my dining companion & I stood awkwardly waiting to be greeted or at least advised as to how to proceed as there is nothing directing guests towards either the dining room to the right or the counter to the left. I finally inquired at the counter and was met by a mighty unpleasant & unwelcoming counter staffer. No smile, no menu suggestions, no thank you, nothing. My pal & I found a cozy spot to sit as we waited for our food, which arrived promptly. But without silverware. So I went looking for cutlery and encountered more surliness. I couldn't get the counter staff's attention so I asked a cook. Instead of just handing me a silverware roll, she gave me an exasperated look and replied curtly it would come out with the food. Which it hadn't. (Disclaimer: I swear, I'm not an idiot- the silverware wasn't out in plain site; they keep it behind the counter). Once we got past the customer issues, we were able to enjoy our yummy food. My breakfast burrito was grilled panini style. It was just the right size and packed with fresh flavor. The home fries were nicely seasoned but not the best. (I dig my potatoes with the skin on and a tad over cooked). Bottom line, the food was good but the service left much to be desired. Maybe I'll stop in for ice cream once it warms up but I won't be back for breakfast based 100% on the service experience. read more

Ice cream store, coffee shop, and cafe all in one, Three Sisters has something for anytime of the day. And... They make their own ice cream. With unique flavors and new flavors always on the way, there's always something to try here. I also really like their selection of smoothies and baked goods. During the winter months the banquet along the window is a way to get light without braving the cold, while during the summer months the tables outside on the sidewalk us a nice place to sit and relax after a walk down Blackstone boulevard. Another prop to Three Sisters for their dedication to local art, recycling, and community. It can get a little crazy and loud in there at times, so I don't always get the most work done I visit, but I definitely enjoy my food and drink read more

I'm guessing this has to do with rising costs on all fronts, but it seems that Three Sisters has opted to reduce portion sizes instead of raising prices. While I understand that businesses opt to do things like this to reduce the chance of customer complaints, it has happened so many times that their portions are now laughable. On my last visit, saying that the small I got was one scoop would be generous. It feels like Three Sisters is trying to get away with something and hoping their customers either don't notice or don't care. Their dirty garden mint - real, actual mint (as opposed to that crappy green syrupy stuff). You can blend coffee with any ice cream as well - say WHAT??? A. Maze. ING. Who knew! This place has AMAZING homemade ice cream!!!! (Okay, maybe everyone knew, and I was completely behind the ball). But seriously, Three Sisters is potentially the ONLY place in Providence for delicious, homemade, uniquely AND classically flavored ice cream in Providence!! I just discovered this place and have already been here too many times to admit. The apple caramel is DIVINE. It tastes like fresh apple (locally grown?) admixed a delicious caramel base that smooths over like it's an apple pie. They also have a fabulous matcha green tea ice cream that I just can't get enough of. No need to trek all the way to Burlington for my H-mart fix anymore!! This place is stingier than McDonald's with their time cut-offs. The customer is not their priority. I hate to give this place a bad review because their food is good, but they lost a regular customer today due to irrationally poor service. I went in at 3:05pm and asked for one of their breakfast specials. The person at the counter was about to ring me up, when an older woman next to him (I'm assuming the manager/owner?) said that because it was 5 minutes past 3:00, they could not serve the special. I asked why they were unwilling to make an exception -- after all, it was just a few minutes -- and was told it was because other people might want the special then. "Where do you draw a cut off? 4pm? 5pm?" When I pointed out it was simply a few minutes past the cutoff, that the cafe was only half full, and that there was literally no one in line behind me, the woman just shrugged. I'm not one to trumpet "the customer is always right" -- but this seemed to be a case where an understanding local business would bend the rules slightly to please a regular patron. Rather than make a minimal effort to go out of their way to keep a customer happy, they chose not to. To me, this says the customer is not their priority. I was more than happy to go down Hope St. a few blocks further to Seven Stars Bakery and give them my business instead. The fact is, there are so many other great Cafes and pastry shops in the area --- Wayland Square Diner, Blue Cottage Diner, Louie's, Seven Stars, etc --- that there's little reason to return to to a place that is unappreciative of your past business. read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I've been here a few times since moving to Pawtucket only 3 weeks ago, and I am in love! I've had their molomet omelet (avacado, turkey, mushrooms, peppers, mozzarella etc.) with potatoes and coffee and it was SO yummy! The portions aren't as big as other places, but I left full and very very happy! I have also had the affordable breakfast burrito, which was very delicious (all fresh ingredients, with home made pico and I added avocado for a creamy treat). It was so good. Finally, today's choice was the Simon smoothie which was all the right amounts of yummy! It was smoothe, tart, a little sweet, and oh so wonderful! I've visited 3 Sisters a handful of times over the past few years, and witness them mature from a communal-seating, artist space-sharing, ice cream joint-that-makes-the-occasional- sandwich to a bustling, eclectic dining option. For me, their meal and pastry items are a mixed bag...I've not had a sandwich or treat that has blown my socks off. But! But. The ice cream is fantastic, and the flavors are so inventive! I recently had some amalgamation of s'mores and bananas foster, and I haven't been able to find my damn socks since. It seems like a great and friendly spot for regulars, but I've only been a few times and am just never impressed. Last time I was there it took about 20 minutes for a breakfast sandwich, when I asked what was taking so long just got an attitude. Three Sisters is the definitive homey, cheap local RI coffee joint. Sitting at their tables feels like you're sitting amongst friends. And who doesn't want to drink coffee with friends?! Three Sisters is now my go-to place for studying: their slightly weak coffee is a dollar a cup, there's plenty of seating, and they offer cheap assorted breakfast items for us broke students who seem to perpetually live on austerity measures. While I don't mind Starbucks on occasion, the corporate, non-homey vibe can be grating. I love how I can arrive at relaxed Three Sisters looking like a hot mess and camp out without the judgmental looks. Like Hilary H. noted, the ice cream here is soooo good, although on occasion it's been icy and less creamy. The flavors are original and fun concoctions. Dirty Garden Mint (my fave) is mint ice cream made from real mint leaves infused into the ice cream base. The result is a mild, sweet mint flavor that doesn't taste artificial like many mint ice creams on the market. It doesn't get more minty than that! The coffee is slightly weak, but considering it's the cheapest cup in town, I'll take it. The pastries are hit or miss--sometimes delish and sometimes bland. This place is super cute. Repeat, super cute. So it pains me to say this, but tonight I probably had the worst ice cream in my life. Now I've eaten a lot of ice cream over the years (who hasn't, right?) and I've come to expect home made ice cream to be dense, creamy, and sweet. The ice cream I got tonight at Three Sisters was none of those things. My ice cream had the flavor of water, was not sweet, and contained a exceptionally large percentage of ice particles. For a brief moment I thought something serious happened to my taste buds. Did somebody turn them off? I didn't try just one flavor. I got two flavors and both of them weren't very good. I had the dirty mint something and some other flavor with ginger/rum in it. What's cool is the mint ice cream actually contained tiny bits of mint leaves. What's not cool is I couldn't taste them. I know. I know. Fans of this place are probably saying WTF while reading this, but I couldn't believe it myself. In fact, I had to re-read the sign out front because I couldn't believe the ice cream was home made. While returning to my car, I did confirm the ice cream was indeed home made. Who knows. Maybe when I lost my taste buds, I lost my eye sight as well. And maybe tonight the one sister that normally makes the ice cream was on vacation. read more

The comments about the service are absolutely correct and consistent with every visit I've had here. It's disorganized, inefficient, and takes an extraordinary amount of time to get your food, considering how simple the menu is. It is convenient to go to though, especially with kids (nice stop after Lippitt Park), so to help you through your visit, here is a fun game: make a bet with your spouse/friend/kids/self about how many things in your order they will get wrong. You can kind of stack the deck by introducing a little complexity into your order. For example, yesterday I ordered an entire meal in, but asked for the latte in a to-go cup (why? WHY?), and instead got the entire meal to go. My husband and I always add in extra points if, when you go up to the counter to mention the mistake, it is YOUR mistake, and not the staff's. I've had to pay twice for a drink because the employee said she was certain she'd given me my first drink, so I just gave up and bought another one. I give it 3 stars instead of 2 because the ice cream is good, it's kind of a Hope Street necessity, and the owner seems very nice. It's just a shame it's not better. read more

Upo the recommendation of a couple of Yelpers, and my husband's wish for going for ice cream at an ice cream shop, I decided this venue might be fun and satisfying. Not being able to eat ice cream, I am always rather reticent to indulge. However, the Three Sisters offered a delicious coffee sorbet which was truly delicious, but I only wish some little cocoa chips had ben added to it and/or some nuts. My husband was so happy with his blondie ice cream sundae with peanut butter heaven ice cream that he could not stop smiling. So he's very happy and I am really happy that he is. Went here to get ice cream to go and it's very cute inside! I got the banana bread, coffee crunch and peanut butter heaven. The flavors are truly unique and one of a kind. The barista was nice enough to let me sample some flavors before I ordered, I tried kulfi (good, but wouldn't eat a whole cup of it..it's different). The quality of ice cream is a 5... But I am giving three sisters 4 stars because of cup to price ratio...I hate ice cream stores that are chincy on scoops and charge almost 5 dollars for a large cup that I could eat in 4 bites, but this is the case with most gourmet ice cream shops....it's not like brickleys or somerset creamery where they are very generous with the scoops. But that's just me being nitpicky..., if u want an ice cream flavor that's out of the ordinary and something new, I would definitely recommend this place! read more

I have heard so many people rave about Three Sisters that I've returned to give it try and try again... I have now visited 5 times and I keep leaving disappointed. Now, the ice cream is good. But that's all. Good. No better than I've had elsewhere quite honestly. And I've tried a few of the other treats - like The Blondie - and I wasn't impressed. Baked goods isn't their forte, leave that to Seven Stars. Staff is hit or miss. I've had really friendly, helpful and patient people and I've had cold, somber people wait on me. Never know what you'll get! Seating is limited and tight...I've met there with other moms and our little ones and it's quite the adventure. No room for strollers, that much is certain. I haven't tried their "food food" or alcoholic drinks so maybe that's the route I need to take...all I know is my motivation to return a 6th time is lacking. read more

I want to like Three Sisters. They have all the things I love: breakfast, coffee, ice cream, baked goods. Plus, it's less than a mile from my house. However, every time I go I am disappointed. The portions of food are tiny for the price. The quality and service are also really inconsistent. Breakfast foods are not satisfying and ice cream dishes (unless you just order by the scoop) are sad. When I was last there, I ordered a brownie sundae for my husband and I to share, and the scoops of ice cream were not even full scoops; one was a scant half at best. I watched as the girl scooped the ice cream, got a small blob, pushed it off the scoop with her finger, then looked at it, went to scoop more, then decided against it, instead adding a few squirts of whipped cream from a can. Then she handed the bowl to me, with the contents barely reaching the top of the bowl, and said "you don't want a cherry, right?" I guess adding the cherry was just one more thing she didn't really feel like doing. Overall, it's too bad the service and food here are so lacking. The location is amazing and the ice cream really is good. However, two half scoops of ice cream and minuscule amounts of canned whip cream are just not worth $10. I could go up the road to Whole Foods and buy two pints of Ben and Jerry's and a delicious bakery brownie for the same price. If Three Sisters can't step it up, they should close and allow a business that actually cares to move in. Unfortunately, I doubt that will happen since the place is always so busy and the amount of traffic will allow owners to convince themselves that they're doing everything good enough. Great place to grab anything ice cream related! It's homemade ice cream, many assortment of flavors. I've tried the Dutch double chocolate frappe, amazing! And, recently had a sundae (whipcream is from can/ hot fudge/ chocolate chip ice cream) and it was delicious. You absolutely notice the difference between homemade and say, friendlys. The staff is tremendous, normally very busy but moves along quickly. It is a touch pricey but for the quality it is worth the trip. Only downer, eating area was not very clean both times I was there (some flies as well) now, their door is opening frequently (could have come from outside) but tables were a bit sloppy, ours was unbalanced and the bathroom was pretty dirty. We used to have lunch at Three Sisters all the time, but since they expanded their service has left much to be desired. Food taking half an hour, not enough staff on busy days, incorrect orders, etc. Today was the worst. They took our order, handed over the drinks and then they forgot our food! The order got lost in the ether and I did not find out until I got up to inquire. The only reason I am not giving one star is because they did give us our money back and offered free ice cream (which we refused since we were going home). Their Peanut Butter Heaven is just that - heaven! Fresh, creamy, and never frost bitten. They offer an incredible amount of flavors that should please any palate. Best of all - you can get ice cream year round! This has been a godsend during my pregnancy after a tough day, when I may have reached for a glass of wine. Instead, I can wash away my stress with a small cup of heaven. I have also ordered their smoothies (delicious and standard) as well as their breakfast. The home fries are perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the rest of the food comes out hot and fresh. Three Sisters is incredibly casual. You will need to grab your own silverware and napkins from the counter, as well as clear your table when you are through. Very casual place~ the icecreams were amazing!!!!!! I tried a few flavors (some were my friend's order): Max's Mudpie, Cake Batter, Coffee Crunch, Cookie and Cream, and Fair Trade Coffee, all were really good. The highlights were Max's Mudpie and Coffee Crunch!!! Fairtrade coffee also have very strong aromatic coffee taste, and wasnt too sweet, another really unique flavor I ended up ordering Max's Mudpie on Waffle Cone. it was very VERY satisfying. Heavy with chocolate, oreo, and wallnut fillings. The icecream itself was mocha based. The server was very kind, apart from letting me try multiple flavors of icecream, he also filled up my waffle cone all the way to the cone tip! (The cone was also delicious ) The shop ambient was average, not too fancy, and not too pleasant to sit for a long time. But the icecream flavor makes up for it all hehe read more

On the other hand, I get ice cream way more than I probably should. What I love about Three Sisters is not only the quality of the ice cream, but also the variety of unique flavors. Khulfi is a personal favorite of mine (almond-based ice cream with cardamom and other spices) as well as Dirty Garden Mint (made with actual mint leaves and chocolate chunks). I tend to go for trusty old coffee in the form of a sundae with heath bar and chocolate fudge. Yum! Three Sisters also serves food. Mostly sandwiches and salads. I've never had these, because when I go to an ice cream place it is always for ice cream, but they do look yummy! Sure, the service here isn't anything to write home about, but it's not bad. The ice cream is delicious however my only complaint is that if you order a cup of it , the spoons are so flimsy good luck trying to eat the ice cream. Come on guys, skip the cheap spoons and spend a bit extra for some stronger ones. read more
