On a rainy Saturday night, we decided to try Three Vines Bistro which was conveniently located in the same plaza off Broadway as our hotel. The menu on line looked intriguing enough with classic Italian dishes and pizza to try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon entrance to the restaurant, it was surprising how empty they were despite relatively good Yelp reviews.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was already late (after 8PM in Saratoga Springs is considered late even for the start of the summer season with this being Memorial Day). There were only 2 other tables of patrons and by the time we finished dinner, we were the only ones left. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean looking and appeared to have ample staff between chefs/cooks which you could seen with a large open window to the kitchen and coal fired pizza oven, waitresses and a bartender.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a wedge salad and a Bistro salad to start. Both were absolutely huge and could easily have been shared. Known for there meatballs served in a variety of styles, we ordered the Polpette Di Manzo which was 3 meatballs. The meatballs themselves were rather plain tasting, but the sauce made up for that. A half order of penne a la vodka and a full order of Pasta Primivera were both very good and rather filling for a late night meal. We didn't have room for dessert. One item for management to address is their on-line menu vs. their in restaurant menu which has a difference in pricing of ~$2 per item. Our friendly waitress said that the rain and cooler temps were keeping patrons away this May and of course this evening. Hopefully for Three Vines, the weather improves and they have a wonderful summer season in Saratoga Springs! read more

I wouldn't say this place is 100% authentic Italian, but it was still very tasty. All dishes were accommodated for everyone's dietary needs, except the menu did not describe what contents were inside the arancini. Me being a vegetarian, I assumed it was only cheese but there was a meat/pea mixture so that was my fault for not asking. read more

We came here as a group of roughly 16 to 18 individuals. Our waiter was excellent, took each order and delivered each order perfectly. Plenty of lot parking. Walking distance from the hotel. Prices were reasonable and portions were plenty. Everyone raved about their selection. The salads were huge. Most of us had dessert as well. Which were a great ending to a great meal. read more

My server Sammy was an excellent waitress. She answered all of my questions about the menu. Very knowledgeable. She also told us a little about the restaurant when we asked how long they've been open. Me and my God father both started off with salads, his was a little heavy on the dressing so he didn't eat too much of it but everything was extremely fresh. I'm very picky about dishes being served nicely with fresh ingredients and handled in a clean manner. Both of which I got here. Food was above average with a wide range of Italian dishes. Had a group of 13 adults and six children. Everyone was happy with their orders and some, like me, thought their dish outstanding. The service, drinks and food, was terrific throughout the meal. read more

When you see not even half full room on TRAVERS WEEK, you know something is up. Cold food, prepared with Ragu- quality sauce, rubbery chicken and smallest sized bake clams ever seen. When I sent back my dish cause it was cold, the waitress made a point the plate was recorded "very warm" the first time. If I wanted to eat the plate instead of the food.. couple next to me waited 25 minutes for their veal dish to come back hot this time... STAY AWAY! So we arrived at 7 pm on a Tuesday night...in October. It's really pretty quiet all over in 'Toga this time of year...the tourists have gone home. This seems like a place that locals like to go to...it was pretty low-key night. Nice vibe. Good wine list. Lots of good wine choices by the glass. We just had a very affordable Chianti. Good pour. Nice selection of beers listed on the chalkboard. We first tried the meetballs...because you know...meaty balls! . Too many juvenile jokes to be made here. They were nice, liked the light tomato sauce. Anyway... My daughter had the vodka penne...and she was very happy with her dish. She said the vodka sauce was great. I ordered the carbonara, particularly because I like the pappardelle egg noodle. I loved my dish a little less than my daughter ...the noodles were nice...the carbonara itself was a tad bland? The pancetta was not the greatest, kinda stale. The three shrimps (add-on) were really nice. Good size and flavor. I probably just ordered the wrong dish...Would stick with one of the tomato sauces...not the cream based sauce. The wood fired oven looked great...I would probably order off that part of the menu next time. So- DO order a pasta with a tomato based sauce...order off the wood-fired oven part of the menu. Although the fra diavolo sauce was excellent, my order of shrimp fra diavolo was delivered with only three small medium shrimp. When I questioned this and expressed my disappointment, the waitress said she would express my concern to the chef. There was no further response.. when the check came, I expressed my dissatisfaction and said the proper response would have been to send over a couple more shrimp. This would have addressed my concern, and would have cost nearly nothing. Another trip to the chef, and my entre was removed from the bill. This is not at all an acceptable solution. I've been here a few times and it was pretty good. One thing we loved on the menu was the handmade fried mozzerella. It was great! Tonight I made a special trip while in Saratoga to grab some take out, just a pizza and the fried mozzarella. I got home and was so disappointed to see a bunch of generic frozen mozzarella sticks. These are like the fast food kind. I never would've ordered them if I hadn't expected the handmade fresh mozzerella ones. And they were $16!!!!!! What a rip off. read more

We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation on a Tuesday. No one was at the podium at the door to greet us. OK, no problem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was about 1/3 full. There appeared to only be one waitress and she was hustling, and one bartender, who was as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But neither of them looked our way or acknowledged us, even though we stood there almost 10 minutes. So we left. And won't be back. One of them should at least have looked at us and said, "we'll be with you in a moment." This bistro was in the same parking lot as our hotel making it a simple choice. When we walked in we were warmly greeted and seated immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was cozy and comfortable with a good menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We decided to try the arancini for an appetizer. It was crispy on the outside and creamy and flavorful inside. Yum!!! it was the hubs first time having Arancini and he loved it. For dinner I decided to go with a second appetizer, because I get too full these days. Tamus had the linguine and clams. It was flavorful and full of clams. I had the Beans and Greens with shrimp. Light, delicious and perfectly sized for me!! Man if this place could only hire better servers!!!! Went NY's eve and had an absolutely miserable waiter who was terrible. We were there for 2.5 hours, good thing we were out with friends and not in a hurry! Food was amazing like last time but just horrible service which really makes you wonder why you keep coming back!! It will probably be a while before we go back again. Calamari app was so good and my eggplant parm dinner was spot on. I will also say the bartender has a HEAVY pour which I liked. This is a great restaurant. Great server and food. We ordered the fried mozzarella and bruschetta and both were delicious. I ordered the risotto with steak and it was wonderful. My wife and I were staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel for a couple of nights and for dinner we decided to go to the Three Vines Bistro. They open up at 5:00 PM so we got there around 5:30. Our waitress Megan came over to serve us. Since it was the first time there, we decided on the 12" tomato & cheese pizza. I also ordered the baked clams oreganata. It was good. They only give you six little necks. Very tasty but I wish they could have been at least eight for the price but what the hell, everything else is up. Anyway, we went there for the second night and we had Megan again for our waitress. She is very friendly (yes, I know they work for tips) so stop typing... this I ordered on the appetizer the mussels. OMG! they ere tender in a red sauce with olives, garlic. It was fantastic! My wife ordered the Penne with vodka sauce and I ordered the linguine with mussels, calamari, shrimp. Delicious and very filling. I've must have passed this restaurant over a thousand times going into Purdey's Liquor Store which is right next door. The restaurant is very deceiving on the outside but inside great food, nice atmosphere and the staff excellent. We live only 15 minutes away. We were at the hotel while our home is being renovated. We will be going back for sure. This is a secret hide away for us. Definitely worth giving it a try. Saw other reviews that weren't good and that I couldn't understand. Anyway, give it a shot. A solid NY Italian restaurant in the heart of Saratoga Springs! I was visiting the Saratoga area recently from Florida, and I know one thing that I had to get while in town was authentic NY Italian food! Three Vines Bistro filled that need nicely with their tasty food, good sized portions and good service. My dining partner is vegitarian so she had the veggie "meet balls" and they were great! They are not imitation meet, but a blend of beans, spices and veggies. Great flavor and good consistency. I had the encrusted chicken which tasted very similar to a good chicken franchese. Sides were great and the bread was warm and yummy. Service was prompt and friendly! Can't wait to come back the next time I am in town! read more

Our server was really nice. It wasn't busy at all. Came in with my daughter. We ordered a few items, but we won't be back. The food was pretty bad. My eggplant appetizer was cold when it came out, but it was the only food we actually thought tasted good. My daughter got a pizza which was also cold and so greasy. It was so bad she didn't finish one piece. She had the penne side which she ate but it's literally penne with red sauce. We ordered the rice balls and asked if it had meat and were told no. But it had ground beef. We don't eat meat. So that was a huge disappointment. It wasn't clear at all. Our server handled it well but definitely could have been more clear. I had some wine which also wasn't great. The bartender looked really upset to be there at all and I heard him grumble several times. For what we ended up spending it was not a great meal. The menu looked nice with variety, but cold food that didn't taste good. No real ambiance, since as I said the bartender was complaining and it was pretty empty. Have never, I don't think, ever left a review. I was however astonished by my experience last night. After a very long day I decided to treat myself to a good meal. I called in an order of Veal Parmigiana. Staying close by I walked over to pick it up. Was met by friendly staff and directed towards the bar to pick it up and pay my bill. I was handed a bill of $32 something? That's a hefty price and more than I think the online menu stated but I'm not prickly about that crap and know it's track season. As long as I get a decent meal I'm fine with it. I tipped $4.00 which for a pick up i feel was generous. I'm not stingy and value the industry. I walked home to find not a lick of anything accompanying a meal of that price. Not a piece of bread, not a little side salad, NOTHING. Ok, swallow again and let's have at it. I opened the container to find a completely burnt veal parmigiana. The cheese was black. Not even brown, black. I tried a bite knowing what I'd find, and I found it. It was like trying to chew rubber. I called the restaurant bc I believe it's important they know what is being put out to their customers. I got a manager who didn't seem to give a rat's ass. Told me all he could do was refund my money. As I'm not one to do this crap to "get something" I said that I guess that would be ok and added that I'd actually bring it back so he could see it for himself. I walked all the way back, their bag broke along the way and a kind stranger ran me out a bag from her house, but made it there. He opened it, closed it and said I can refund your money. No discussion about it, no admission of the insane state of a dish his employees put out, and not one offer of any compensation for my time and effort and my experience of losing my dinner. And proceeded to tell me then that the kitchen was now closed. Great! Now I'm standing there and it's 9pm and no place is open and all I got was my money refunded. It was a very irritated walk home. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. The manager has absolutely zero desire to give you a good experience. When there is no heart there is never good food. Just a quick update on our 3rd visit here. We were looking for just a couple of healthy appetizers since we still felt overloaded from the Armenian Church Festival we attended the day before. They still offer a nice selection of draft beers, including several from local breweries. I had the Red Ale from Paradox ($5.50) while my wife had a glass of White Sangria ($10). We shared one of their regular appetizers, the Wood Fired Asparagus ($11), and supplemented that with the Zuppa di Pesce ($14) for my wife and the Salad of the Evening ($15) for me. The prosciutto wrapped asparagus were very nicely done with an excellent flavor, but the caper brown butter sauce added a bit more saltiness than we preferred. The accompanying parmesan polenta did not seem like it was fully cooked inside. The zuppa had perfectly prepared clams, shrimp, and mussels, while the scallops tasted a little fishy. Otherwise, it was a very satisfying dish. My salad was quite large with a wonderful mix of artisan greens, shaved fennel, tiny orange segments, a citrus vinaigrette, and three large, perfectly pan-seared and delicious scallops. We were both fully satiated at this point, BUT... the dessert of the evening was Carrot Cake ($10), a weakness for my wife, and I recall from previous visits that they made excellent desserts. Soooo, we ordered to-go for later enjoyment the carrot cake for her and a Chocolate Rum Cake ($10) for me. Both were fully appreciated at home later that evening while we watched Guy's Grocery Games. Met the owner of the restaurant in town and had a conversation about his place...He convinced us to try his place for dinner on New Years Eve. My wife and I decided to go and it was the best decision of the weekend..Service was great! Food was amazing..My wife had the Encrusted Chicken and I had an amazing rolled veal dish with baby spinach..We had the clam appetizer which was just OK(really not very tasty kind of blah)....That negative was not enough to take away from the 5 star experience..Thanks Joe and Joey! read more

We came from out of state for the wknd and made reservations for three vines based on their menu. We were on time for our reservation and sat right away. After 25 mins I had to flag down a waiter to put a drink order in. The place was not busy. We put in an app order which included the mussels that sounded great. The mussels were bad, noticeably, and the kitchen staff served them that way. Very unsafe. We had to flag down for a second round of drinks mind you we were never given waters or a bread basket like every other table. We ended up getting out entrees to go which took twice as long to receive. I would not recommend here at all. The manager and server were very nice but that was the only positive thing I can say about this place sadly. read more

Three Vines has now replaced some of the other dining options that we had in years past. A recommendation...order the meatballs. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night when the bf and I were in town last month. I had decided to come here as I liked the idea that your meal could revolve around their selection of meatballs (or "meetballs" as they call them), with accompanying sides if you'd like. It kind of reminded me of the Meatball Shop's concept. Anyway, when we got to the restaurant, we checked in with the host and were seated immediately. The seating arrangements in the restaurant were a bit odd, as one side of the restaurant had normal height dining tables, and the other half had bar height tables and chairs. It also seemed like while the restaurant was trying to be a more formal dining establishment, there were at least 3 large flat screen tvs mounted on the walls, broadcasting sports games. Identity crisis aside, the menus seemed to offer your standard Italian fare, along with the aforementioned meatballs, which is not something I normally see in most Italian restaurants. I opted for the vegan option, and the bf decided to get three different meatballs instead. I also got a half order of their garlic and oil penne to go with my meatballs, and the bf got a half order of their marinara penne instead. Our food came out fairly quickly after placing our order, and we were pleased with the taste and quality of our food. 3.5 stars really, but am rounding up as the staff were very nice and the service was attentive. Prices are pretty fair also for the portion sizes you'll get here as well. I'd consider coming back here if I happened to be in Saratoga Springs again. read more

Yelp! For the love of all things foodie, we need fractions of stars!! So went here w the gf, DD and pat. We always seem to forget ab this place but since DD can't even walk as far as Joe Biden on a slow day and he and pat were staying at the embassy we took a stroll down here. They were jammed up w some large parties, clearly under staffed and when we got seated the owner (?) just asked us to give it a bit so they could catch up. No problem-o. The atmosphere is just...blah. Oddly placed bar, some random art and the focal point being an open kitchen w a big wood fired pizza/oven thing just seemed a bit too far away. So we started w a very well crafted Manhattan and some wine (decent wine list!). We opened w some really tasty and delightful fried calamari and we tried the house meatball, good, and the sausage and pepper meatball, great! I had their version of braciole which was really just a stuffed pork chop and the gf had veal sorrentino. Who cares what DD and pat had. The braciole was pretty on point although just a tad dry. The stuffing was fab and the Demi glacé was crazy good. Like I wanted to take a gallon home and put it on everything. It came w some carrots and green beans which was no afterthought. They were really really really good as were the potatoes. The GF said the veal was good. I don't eat baby cow. That's just cruel. Anyway. 3 1/2 stars. Not 4 primarily bec of the space. read more

First time there, a shopping plaza restaurant that does a great job. Their pizza was first rate, thin, wood fired delicious. Beat and goat cheese salad was light and fresh and could be shared by 3. The pasta and shrimp was well prepared snd excellent. Topped it off with cannoli and tortufo. We will be back! read more
