Went for Hallowqueen drag brunch. Do not recommend. Price: it's is $30 to get in the door, plus $30 for brunch, plus $15 for bottomless mimosas. Despite that the advertisement says is $30 for brunch and a $15 up charge for bottomless mimosas. Food: the brunch buffet was horrible. Buffets are not good normally to start with in my opinion. They had: eggs, bacon, corned beef hash, potatoes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and some packaged pastries. They eventually brought waffles and flatbread. I highly recommend eating before you come. There are not really any options for vegetarian/pescatarians. The food was really bad. Eggs undercooked and watery, bacon burnt, sausage rubbery... that kind of bad. Show: I have been to a fair amount of drag shows. This is the worst by far. The performers (there were 4 including the MC) basically just walked around and lip synced while collecting money. There was no real show or dancing or any of the things drag shows are known for. They literally just strutted from table to table lip singing and collecting money. The most entertaining part of the show was the birthday twerk off (audience members divided into groups twerking against each other.) the most veteran of the performers did the least and needs to check the ego (taking the mic, belittling others), they did nothing. All slow music and slow walking around to collect money. Absurd. Overall: do not go unless you are going to hang with your friends and have drinks. Know the show is bad. Know the food is worse. I made a reservation for one of the Cabanas on a Sunday night which costs $300. I will say it didn't say online that the cabana came with anything but $300 is a little pricey just to sit under a cabana but this was the last night of a girls trip so we were trying to go out in style. The aesthetic of the venue is nice but the problem was the food and service. When we walked in there were a couple of kids at the computer which was weird but after about 5 mins someone came over to check us in and take us over to our cabana. The waitress finally comes over and sits down and says "just to let you know we're out of pretty much everything." One of the girls asked if the cabana came with anything and the server proceeded to tell us/me (b/c I was the one who paid for the cabana) that we basically wasted our money because it doesn't come with anything and is for the people who want to be away from the regular people. So we ask for some menus and order a couple of drinks and tacos and a flatbread because that's all they had. She also told us that everything was basically frozen and not fresh. It almost seemed like she was trying to get us to just leave and give up. Anyway my friends tried to play the checkers game but these kids kept coming up to interrupt them. At first I thought it was kids from someone eating there but it wasn't. It was the employees kids. Which of you have to bring your kids to work at least keep them from interrupting the guests. Another one of my friends tried to order dessert but after not getting it for 20 mins she went over to the waitress who was playing uno to tell her to cancel it because we were getting ready to leave. She brought it to her to go but they didn't have anymore to go boxes so she put two paper plates on top of each other...really?! This place has potential but it needs better management or leadership because the employees were just running around without any sense of urgency or professionalism. The cabana was nice but it's way over priced for what you get. And the food was a super let down. Not a great way to end our trip but we tried to make the most of it. Love love love this place! It's got something for everybody. Great music, food and games! Downstairs they have ax throwing & broad games.

Decided to check this place out with a group of friends for a birthday over the weekend and it did not disappoint. You don't need a reservation to come, but they do have a lot of cabanas that you can rent out in advance for big groups. We ended up sitting at the bar to start with and I ordered their Bourbon Berry Bramble cocktail. It tasted pretty strong with a hint of sweetness from the blackberries. I also ordered the Cucumber Twist which was very refreshing. Some of my friends ordered nachos at the bar and they seemed to really enjoy those. Although I didn't take many, this place has a lot of great spots for taking pictures and selfies with your friends. They clearly put a lot of work into their tropical style decorations here. They also offer a lot to do with your friends as they have beer pong, ping pong, board games and had a DJ when we came. They also have a rooftop area, which we weren't able to hang out at since it was raining. Service was very poor. We had two tables in our two tents (we were a large group) food was dropped at one or other instead of split into two serving plates. I had the worse bartender service from this place. The drink I did receive was good but I had to keep asking to order my food and the bar was empty downstairs. I feel like the service during the day is much better than at night. To have to ask several times over and over can I order a drink can I order food and to be dismissed over and over again. We had a super fun night at Throw Social (Ivy City)! Great: Service, DJ, Mambo Sauce wings, cocktails (yes! My drinks snuck up on me!), vibe, games and atmosphere! My daughter's 19th birthday celebration was a successful party night thanks to the staff at this tropical themed place. It was a Wednesday evening so parking and crowds weren't an issue at all (cautious that this could be much different on a weekend). It gave us a great chance to take advantage of all the activities without many people around. We rented a cabana which was super cozy and intimate for our 5-person group. Got the wings, nachos (beef or steak maybe? Can't remember) and they were pretty good happy hour selections. Wasn't as fond of the mac n cheese bites...they just tasted really processed, kinda "cafeteria". Those weren't as popular in our group but with the dipping sauce they weren't awful. Pre-COVID this was probably a very fun bar to go to and mingle, but with the 'no alcohol after 10' DC restrictions on bars and restaurants this place is like a graveyard after 10pm - which is to be expected. My friends and I came here to celebrate my birthday early and we had a football bowling reservation at 10. When we arrived a lot of people were leaving, and the only people inside the venue aside from employees were those there to do football bowling (there were about 5 or 6 groups). It was definitely smaller than I thought, but my friends and I had a great time. Of course I lost terribly, but the money spent was well worth it. I took off a star because my friend went to ask for water and they said they're not suppose to provide water because it's part of servicing the bar, which is not allowed after 10PM. On the other hand, the customer service was amazing. I received a few notice emails before our reservation, including the DC restrictions on food and alcohol after 10PM and how to check-in for our reservation. And the staff was very friendly and straight to the point so that we had as much time as possible to utilize our timed reservation. We visited on Sunday from 3 pm - 6 pm (16 guests) - spending a lot of money and the food was horrible. The wings, dip and tacos were COLD, the sampler & onions were under cooked, soft and soggy. We had to send food back several times. The waiter gave an unacceptable excuse - most of the time people are drunk/have been drinking and don't usually complain. That's not US. We want quality food and service for the cost of food. The kitchen staff needs to take better pride in the food being prepared and served. If this establishment is visited by the Health Dept or is Mystery Shop - they will definitely FAIL. The drinks are on point. Before we started axe throwing, we received a demo and guidance on what to do from a coach. At first I was a little intimidated but I warmed up to it very quickly. Later we moved to the second floor and man it was party central. This floor is Miami Beach theme. Great bar, flamingos, lots of games, cabanas, and don't forget the DJ and light up dance floor! We decided to check the spot out after I saw someone post about it on Instagram. Luckily, I was able to get a same-day reservation and we arrived at 9 PM. (After 9pm = no kiddos). The check in process was seamless with the scanning of a QR code and completing a consent. We were told the rules of the game quickly, but don't worry, they are also posted on the wall for you. Since we did not have enough members in our party for a complete lane we did play the game with another party of three which was perfectly fine. If you're competitive, you will work up a sweat! The time allotted for one game goes by super quickly. I believe the next time I come I will try to double book lanes so that we can at least have two games worth of time. I visited Throw on a Friday night and give it 3.5 ish stars so I'm rounding up in this case. Overall it had a lot to offer, so I'd say it probably could be a lot of fun. But things were chaotic and not quite all together when I visited. The staff couldn't even point me to the right floor and had me complete a voucher for activities on the wrong floor smh. And my goodness the bar was incredibly slow. It was almost surprising how slow they were. At least a 20 minute wait. Now I didn't play any games, so I can't say it's hopeless, but I wasn't fully impressed my first visit. I went a couple of weeks ago and it was just ok. I wouldn't return for food or axe throwing. Our axe throwing spot had newer wood so my friend's axe wouldn't actually stick to the wood. This place was a blast! First off, the decor and atmosphere is outstanding! It's a tropical Miami paradise! The neon signs and colors are superb. Arrive before your scheduled reservation so you have time to grab a drink, walk around and take it all in. You will definitely want to! The service was great. All the employees are so friendly and accommodating. They weren't too busy while we were there so they even let us stay a few extra minutes which we loved because we were having such a good time! The drinks are delicious! We didn't try the food last night but they have a plethora of choices if your group is hungry and it looked amazing. We played football bowling. It was so much fun and much harder than it looks, I promise. We would go to the bar to order and pay but then they would bring the drinks to us. We will be frequenting this spot often for sure! We came on a Saturday evening and arrived 10 minutes late to the reservation, which they deducted from our time. Make sure to arrive early to get settled to have the full time allotted, since they are pretty busy and are timely with their reservation slots for the games. We booked a cabana and football bowling at the same time, which is a good idea if you have more than 8 people (max # of people for football). Some can play the game and some can sit around to eat and drink. Regarding the space for football bowling- I felt like it was quite crowded to have 4 lanes of games going on in that space with footballs flying everywhere. The footballs were bouncing off the board to 2 lanes over and we had to interrupt/walk through other peoples games to retrieve them. Stopped into the sister bar downstairs and after chatting with a manager (Micheal?), checked out the upstairs area. From the moment we stepped out of the elevator, we were in awe. The decor does not half ass and sets the mood for fun. Everything about this bar screams tropical vibes. We set up shop at a football lane for a bit and couldn't believe how enjoyable it was. Our annual Howard Homecoming Alumni Brunch needed a bigger venue and we decided to host it at Throw Social and it didn't disappoint. Throw Social was the star of the show! The venue served as the perfect backdrop for our brunch. Our DJs loved the stage and the large screen worked well for taking a trip down memory lane with pictures of our guests throughout the years. The venue is beautiful and has a lot of amenities for a large party. Prior to the brunch, we have gone there and the staff has always been personable, warm and they deliver excellent customer service. They had the same energy during our brunch.
