Ambience was good. The food was average or below. The pasta dish was very very greasy and had too strong flavor of capers. Walleye was dry. The potatoes with Walleye were supersalty. My daughter's sprite was flat and bland. Had to ask for a replacement. I had to ask them to refill water glasses. Very disappointed. The Killer Bouillabaisse had two mussels, two clams, four shrimp and two scallops. Really? They serve it in the pan they cook it in with a tiny crust of bread on the side. There was WAY too much celery and it was over powering the dish. Frankly, a similar dish at Trattoria Tiramisu is much better. My hubby had the tuna oscar which was way over cooked, dry and tasteless. Too bad as the atmosphere was nice. We ate her on Thanksgiving. It was served buffet style. I had never been here before and was very excited because I had heard good things about this place. I was SORLEY DISAPPOINTED!!! .. it was AWFUL!! Salad bar was just lettuce, the gravy was some kind of red wine flavor and was luke warm, the Brussels sprouts were NOT COOKED, the sweet potatoes were terrible, no seasoning or butter on them. I was a bit disappointed. It all started good... great biscuits with a cinnamon butter that is delicious, pretty decent salad and soup, but the moment I got my main dish my excitement went down hill... I asked for a medium steak that turned out to be well done, it was dry, no flavor. I should have returned it, but I didn't have all the time to wait. According to my coworker, his ribs were not all that good. So, place and service is nice and we were looking forward to it, but since I arrived to Iowa I have noticed that everything is very well cooked... Enjoy. read more

Having been here twice I can say that both times the service was excellent. The Dijon Pork Chop is hands down my favorite pork chop I have had, and rivals a pretty good steak in preparation and quality. The Bouillabaisse was a bit hot though the seafood was also good. The biscuits and cinnamon butter served are a nice touch though not as good as some steakhouses' rolls in my opinion. Overall this seems to be a nice steakhouse and supper club type place with a nice Northern flare. read more

Pretty expansive menu covering a lot of ground. Like most restaurants with large menus, it's hard to execute the entire menu well. This is exactly the problem Thunder Bay Grill runs into unfortunately. The food is not bad or delicious. Just somewhere in between. The service, however, is usually above average. This was a hit & a miss. Let's start off with the hit: the seafood jumbalaya and the chipolte chicken pasta entrees were excellent - - - very flavorful and delicious. Now for the misses: the service was sloooooooooooooowwwwwwww. The quesa fundido came out of a can - - - it looked and tasted like a really bad cheese soup and the homemade chips should be scalped when any old bag from the grocery store would have tasted better. The waiter recommended the wood fired chicken but it was nothing special. The beer was good - - - and we would have had a 2nd one with our meal if the waiter would have been doing his job right. Hubby had sirloin with sweet potatoes and broccoli. SP was very good, steak was good though the server didn't ask my husband the temp he wanted. My Caesar and shrimp cocktail were good, though the shrimp was a little rubbery and the cocktail needed more horseradish. All together a better meal than we expected in Davenport. This place deserves every star it has been given. I'm from New York City and I had one of the best steaks ever at this place which is like a good quality NY restaurant but for less. I went here with my family and they all had something they could enjoy like the jambalaya bouillabaisse the seafood jambalaya and one again the steak. Sometimes the appetizers sounded a little gimmicky such as the matchsticks which could just as easily have been called shrimp egg rolls. But other than that it had a great atmosphere. If I'm ever in Iowa again, I would definitely come here. read more

I downloaded this app and made an account just to make sure I could warn people of this place. While the ambiance was nice, everything else was a total dud. I ordered an Angus burger (well done), and it honestly tasted like chemicals. They also forgot my bacon on my burger. They said they would bring it out, but they never did. My friend did not get her crusty bread and her order was even forgotten about. Another friend want me to add that her bun was incredibly hard. I also ordered coffee, and it was alright for a while, but they brought me cold coffee on the 3rd cup. I cannot say I would eat here by my own personal choice. It is worth mentioning that we came in a group of about 25, so perhaps these issues would not be prevalent in a normal setting. However, still not a good one for me. read more

What a delightful find! The menu was diverse and interesting; the environment was casually fancy. The food was great, the portions ample, and the prices were quite reasonable. It's right off of I-80, which made it ideal for a real meal while traveling. It was by far the best meal we had on a cross-country road trip. read more

Excellent date night spot or family brunch location, if you want to spend a pretty penny. I loved the food, great service and menu options. Brunch with the family was easy and that's not a typical experience with a child who is very picky and another with special needs. Oh my gosh, I hate to only give 2 stars, but the food was simply terrible. My husband and I both ordered the ribeye. I asked for medium rare, and I received blue. He ordered medium well, and received medium rare. It was so tough I couldn't eat it. I am not a picky food snob. This steak was so tough and undercooked, I couldn't fight with it. The Calamari was the most rubber like calamari we've ever had. The stuffed mushrooms were outstanding. The server was awesome and the ambiance was outstanding. Unfortunately, when your bill is over $100 (no alcohol), I would expect much better quality. So disappointing as I simply love it here. Hoping it was just an off night. read more

Today, I stopped at this location thanks to a "Tap on It" coupon. Our waitress was amazing. The food however was extremely underwhelming. We ordered the onion strings for an appetizer, that was delicious. We each had a soup, Chicken Tortilla (delicous) and French Onion ( extremely salty and looked overdone) it was late in the night so possibly the last of it. Our awesome waitress had it removed. No biggie. Then on to our entree. I had a New York Strip w/ mashed potatoes. She had ribeye w/mashed potatoes. We each took bites of our mashed potatoes, tasted of nothing but salt. Pure salt. We told our server and she got the manager. This is where the evening turned from bad to beyond frustrating. The manager said " I think you still must be tasting the French Onion Soup from earlier." First off I didn't have the F.O. Second it's not like i didn't have bites of other food or a drink. She then proceeded to tell me it was almost impossible for the Mashed to be too salty because its all homemade. I don't Appreciate being accused of lying. That was so inappropriate. We come to Davenport once a year and eat here every year. We had the same waiter we had last year and he even remembered us. The service was very good. The atmosphere is always great. The chicken in the jambalaya was a little over cooked and the corn bread muffin was very dry (more so than a normal corn bread muffin) but otherwise the food was good. I would definitely eat here again. read more

Went for the Mother's Day Brunch buffet. Great variety of food on the buffet and everything was hot and well stocked. The prime rib and ham were delicious and everything we tried was very good. Even with the restaurant full for the holiday, the service was great. Dishes were cleared quickly and drinks were refilled often. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, but it kind of goes downhill from there. The quality of the food is mediocre at best but is overpriced. I ordered the chicken Alfredo, and it cost almost $20! If I wanted sub par pasta, I would just make it myself at home for way cheaper. The alfredo was supposed to come with "crusty bread" but it was not on my plate. I would told the waiter, but he never came back until my alfredo was long gone. In fact, he brought out everyone's food except for mine,and I had to wait for several minutes before I finally received my dish. What good is "crusty bread" without a meal to eat it with? Plus, my friend ordered bacon on his cheeseburger, but it was not on his plate. The waiter at he'd bring it out, but he never did. I was so disappointed with the quality of food and service tonight. Plus, there were no paper towels in the bathrooms, so my friend had to go home with wet hands. read more

My first comment on our experience is we will never go back to this restaurant again. Here is a summary of our very unfortunate experience. After we were initially seated it became apparent that our silverware was encrusted in dried food particles. Yuck!!! Even my husband's napkin was dirty. All of these items were replaced and apologies were given. This meal was on a Friday evening and we selected the all you can eat fish. Boy was that a mistake. Upon making our order of the fish I requested substituting a baked potato for french fries and I was informed no substitutes were permitted. None. I then decided that due to their policy of not allowing a substitute without paying extra I would order the chicken salad. After our order was placed the server came back and informed me that yes the baked potato could be substituted without any additional cost. Why she was not aware of this to begin with in unknown. So our fish order and substitute baked potato did arrive and our experience continued. The crust of the fish was excessive. Not only was the crust too thick but the fish itself was salty and cold. The baked potato was so cold that the pat of butter did not melt. The coleslaw was flavorless and the manager agreed. Apologies were provided by the manager but nothing further was offered. The final cost for this experience was $50 which should have been donated to the needy. read more

Traveling across Iowa, we stopped in Davenport for the night and visited this establishment. Terrific service from Samantha and a nice conversion with Mona, the manager that night. Food was very good and served in a timely manner. We'll be back next time we come thru Davenport. read more

My first clue should have been the empty parking lot. Their signature biscuit /bread basket was really disappointing, the bread was really bitter tasting and looked like rocks. The waiter was a little on the flaming side but good nonetheless, very business like and not very friendly. The caprese salad was also disappointing, the bread was stale and the mozzarella cheese was very grainy and it needed more basil. A very off putting texture. The Caesar salad was very good. The lobster mac and cheese was very dry and lacked seasoning, but with some butter and salt and pepper it was quite tasty. Probably won't return. read more
