This place is such a fun vibe. I really love how it's set up and love how the dishes are served! This was my second time visiting and everything is always so delicious! I am vegetarian (90% of the time) and they have some decent offerings. You won't really be full by the end, but all the bites I had were really good. The edamame dumplings are really good and have a edamame purée inside. The ugly potato's are also pretty good and mainly taste like thick fries. I tried the sauce of the steak and wow! That was really good! My friend also said it was super tender. I personally think the truffle mac & cheese was a lot. A little too artery clogging for me and too much truffle flavor for my taste. If you want a super thick and creamy truffley pasta though, you must get this. Also got the bread pudding and was kind of underwhelmed, so wouldn't order that. Thursday Kitchen was recommended by a co-worker, and I wish I could kiss them on the mouth for it. Because yes, this spot is just that good and just that unique and just that special. When we arrived, there was a 45-minute wait, but it went be pretty quickly. Once inside, we were ready to go IN. Because this is a Korean tapas spot, they recommend 2-3 tapas per person. So, while the portions are small (and pricey), you're likely to eat things you can't have anywhere else. So, here's what we got. The soft shell crab (10/10 in terms of breading and the sauce it was on top of); tuna tartare tacos (9/10 cause I wish it would've had just one more); gnochhi (9/10 for being perfectly soupy and spicy and amazing); lucky noodles (10/10 and probably my fave bite of the night); edamame dumplings (8/10 super flavorful, but the texture threw me just a bit); Korean popcorn chicken (7/10 although delish, this didn't blow us away). This spot is also know for their Capri Sun-style drinks with a soju base. I went with the grapefruit and strawberry versions, and they were refreshing, light but pack quite a punch. Only cons are how loud it gets in there (it's a small space, so what can you do) and the fact that there's only one bathroom. I had to wait around 20 minutes to use it, so be prepared. read more

when it comes to Korean tapas, I generally get pretty excited due to the fact that I really enjoy variety in my meals but don't necessarily love anyone Korean dish. However, this restaurant doesn't really seem to be super encompassing in exclusively Korean dishes, which really surprised me due to the fact that it advertises itself as a Korean tapas restaurant. Our server recommended our table to order around 2 to 3 dishes per person, due to the small sizes of the dishes, but after ordering about five dishes, my partner and I were rather flabbergasted by the actual tiny, serving sizes that they serve you based on the price. We ordered tuna tacos, which were extremely small , and only yielded three tacos probably as big as your thumb. With each dish averaging around $15 total, I felt like this was a huge rip off. The tuna tacos themselves were really nothing special, I didn't really feel like they were Korean at all, unless there are some go to Chong in the recipe or something like that you would never really be able to necessarily associate this dish with Korean cuisine at all. The tacos themselves were very homogenous, you really couldn't put your finger on what tastes you were chowing down on, and the texture themselves were reminiscent of fish paste. The duck comfy empanadas almost felt a little bit insulting... Then empanadas themselves were pretty dry, and the portions again were extremely small, empanadas were about the size of your thumb, and again for the average cost of around $15 for this plate, it felt really disappointing. The kimchi paella itself had a decent serving size, but it didn't really necessarily taste like paella at all... It was really watery, and had the essence of kimchi fried rice with none of the perks at all. again the prices for this dish were astounding for the lack of effort or uniqueness of the dish itself. It just kind of tasted like watery rice in kimchi juice. I would say the only great thing about this dish was that the shrimp was cooked perfectly, and was delicious. next up is the truffle mac & cheese, which was actually quite delicious. It was the second greatest thing here that if I ever came back, I would order again. It was extremely hearty in cheese, did not lack at all in truffle flavor, and had a decent portion size. if you're lactose intolerant, I would highly recommend a Lactaid, or some sort of supplement to combat the hardiness of the dairy in this dish. If you like mac & cheese, and you like truffles, you'll probably really enjoy this dish. Especially if you love the cheese pull satisfaction, that usually comes with highly cheesy meals. The best this year was definitely the steak. Almost had low expectations for this dish just because it was cheaper on the pricing side compared to a lot of the dishes on the menu. It completely knocked me off my feet due to the fact that it was extremely tender and cooked to perfection. You could taste the beefy flavor, without necessarily getting the meat sweats, which I really appreciate it. The portion is also rather good, just because with meat that rich and heavy in protein, you may get sick of it quite easily. overall, this place has a cozy vibe with a selection of cocktails that brings in people who might enjoy novelty drinks, and want to have some casual bites on the side. However, those who are actually drawn in due to the food options and are learned in via the fact that it's got small Korean eat eat, will probably be pretty disappointed. again, it lacks the relation to Korean food that it brags about having by definition, and brings your hopes up to get excited about the meal, to inevitably let you down. The staff were cool, but it also had that vibe where they wanted you to leave as soon as possible due to the fact that they can get super busy on the weekends or generally later for dinner. I would highly recommend see as in Charlie about a 20 minute walk over for Korean tapas, decent prices, fantastic service, and generally delicious food and amazing atmosphere instead. read more

So glad I was able to try this place during my visit to NY. Being Korean, I was excited to see many of the dishes with a Korean twist to it. They don't accept reservations so be ready to wait a bit for a table. I ended up waiting about 45 minutes for a table when I arrived on a Thursday evening around 7:45 pm. I started off with the Golden Punch, which is their non-alcoholic lychee, pineapple, lemon juice, and tonic drink, which comes in their fun lit up Capri-Sun type drink pouch. Flavors of the lychee and pineapple were really good and balanced well. Highly recommend if you're looking for a non-alcoholic drink. I ordered the kimchi paella, duck confit empanada, and the edamame dumpling. Kimchi Paella $15 (5/5)-I wasn't sure what to really expect from the kimchi paella, but was really pleased with the subtle kimchi flavors that were present throughout the dish. It also came with four decent sized shrimp pieces. I really enjoyed this dish and how the kimchi flavors were super overpowering. Duck Confit Empanada $14 (2/5)-This was just okay in my opinion. The meat inside was really dry and I had to drench each bite in the dill creme fraiche since it lacked moisture in the meat and the empanada itself. Edamame Dumplings $12 (4/5)-These were pretty good and the edamame filling was a nice twist on your usual dumplings. The citrus truffle oil was light enough but brightened up the dish. The only downfall was that the dumpling wrappers were a bit on the thicker and chewier side. Overall, I enjoyed most of my meal here although I probably would've ordered something else than the duck confit empanada. One of my FAVORITE Asian fusion restaurants in NYC! They do not take reservations so it's important to show up early because it gets packed pretty quickly! Everything is tapa style and the portions are sized perfectly to share. The reason why I keep coming back here is because of 3 things: 1. Steak and Grits- SO GOOD! We started off with the duck confit empanadas, and I loved the dill crème fraiche with it. Without it, the flavor would not have been the same. I loved how the soft shell crab was presented. Not only was it perfectly shaped, but it also had a very strong and flavorful wasabi ramoulade. My favorite dish, of course, was the truffle mac & cheese. I wasn't sure how I felt about broccoli being in the mix, but it actually elevated the dish. A must try if you ever go here. They were pretty standard, similar enough to something you'd find at a Mexican restaurant. Soft shell crab: Tasted good, but the scant amount of sauce it comes with is awkwardly thin and hard to scoop up. Truffle mac and cheese: I love truffle but skip this one if you have high hopes for it. The cheese and roux is super thin (like boxed mix cheese powder) and the macaroni elbows are so small that it barely holds in any sauce. Yes, there is a bit of a cheese pull, but once again, SUPER thin strings. It didn't feel like a real, hearty, chunky mac n cheese. Thursday Kitchen is a place for broke college students that want tasty food at relatively affordable prices. Maybe I should have took that into consideration when I arrived to a disorganized front of house operation. My partner and I stood at the door for a good 5 minutes trying to figure out if there was going to be a host to seat us. One of the servers practically ignored our arrival and his coworker was the one to address us as she hurried out of the kitchen. She seated us at an indoor corner table. Guess who our server is? The same guy who ignored us the moment we walked through the door. Great. Whatever. My partner and I ordered hoping the food would be the saving grace. The highlights were the creamy, sweet and savory edamame dumplings, the deliciously sweet, spicy and tangy lucky noodle and the unique truffle mac and cheese. The yuzu tonics were also tasty and cute in their capri-sun style containers. The LED cube is a nice touch. The kimchi paella, which I had high hopes for, was sadly lacking. The cheese didn't add the desired texture I wanted to the rice and the dish could have benefited with a touch of sweetness. The duck empanadas were tender but tasted strange (not in a good or bad way). The hazelnut sauce used for the asparagus was a tad too salty, and the steak was good but it's something I can easily get elsewhere. After finishing the food, it wasn't very clear where the restroom was. But the waitstaff must have a laugh watching the customers try to find the bathroom because they will see you struggle and turn a blind eye. And when you thought it couldn't get any worse, you finally find the bathroom and when you head in you're met with an overflowing trashcan and a floor riddled with nasty puddles. Don't be surprised if you walk out of the bathroom with an infection. Our waiter asked if we wanted the check and we gladly obliged... to be kept waiting for another 10 minutes. Another server asks if we're ready for the check and we tell him we already asked for it. More time passes... we pay the bill and since we were tired of waiting another 15 minutes for him to take our payment we get up and hand the check directly to him. I've been wanting to try this place for literal YEARS!! It was definitely very good. Service and food were great. The only issue was the price tag which was pretty steep considering the portions. Getting into specifics I believe my favorite dish was the lucky noodles. So many different flavors and textures, it was delicious! The edamame dumplings were a pleasant surprise. The contrast of the citrus with truffle was amazing. I'd skip the duck confit empanadas next time. The truffle Mac and cheese was also one of the better dishes. The bill came to about $198 and still none of us were full after - we had to get pizza after. We ate the following - the ugly potato, truffle mac & cheese, kimchi paella, asparagus, duck confit empanada. Flavors were rich and varied which kept each dish distinct. The standout was the kimchi paella and the ugly potato. My one complaint is that it is fairly loud inside with minimal sound proofing, so it's ideal for people who want to get in close and talk to each other, not particularly for a business meal. I've had this place bookmarked for far too long so I finally decided to try it. It did live up to my expectations, but some dishes were a complete hit while others were a complete miss (personally for me, obviously). Here's what I liked in order of what I liked the most to what I found was just alright- Duck Confit Empanadas- absolutely delicious, definitely get these. Portion size is a little small but they are tapas. Truffle Mac & Cheese- believe the hype! It is really good, and quite filling. Asparagus- call me crazy but this was actually quite good. I typically do not order (or eat lol) vegetables but this was great. Tuna Tataki- I don't know why but this missed the mark for me, whatever condiments they put with the tuna just did not blend well for me. Fried Plantain- just straight up odd, especially with the spicy cream cheese? I would pass on this. All in all, Thursday's Kitchen is a nice spot and I would return again. I love asian fusion places but rarely find places that do both cultures justice - so I had to check out this place since it had so much hype. The line is usually up to an hour long so make sure to come ahead of time to beat the rush. The area nearby is super cute and there's also a ton of cute bars to pass your time. We ordered the soft shell crab, asparagus, truffle mac and cheese, kimchi paella, korean popcorn chicken, steak, lucky noodle and two capri drinks to share among 4 people. The popcorn chicken and the mac and cheese are the flagship dishes here. Crispy taiwanese popcorn chicken is probably one of my favorite snacks so I was honestly a little disappointed to find that this variant was super saucy - the flavors were there and were a cool twist on the classic dish but it was just a little heavy (though great if you've transitioned to drunchies already). The other flagship dish, mac and cheese, was super small and I didn't think there was anything too memorable. My favorite here was probably the soft shell crab. It was lightly fried and a little hard to share but the texture was perfectly crunchy. Definitely recommend getting the capri drinks here as well - they add a light at the bottom of the pouch that's super cute! Portion sizes here are a little small but we were actually all pretty full after ordering. I have always loved Thursday Kitchen ever since I came a couple of years ago, and I would come back over and over solely for the edamame dumplings. The edamame dumplings are SO GOOD. The hint of truffle elevates the whole dish and the inside of the dumplings are just so creamy, smooth, and flavorful. So good we had to order two (for two people!). Also, the truffle mac and cheese is a classic, but always a must. It is so creamy with a light truffle flavor and does not really taste too dense or cheesy overall. The steak is also very flavorful and tender. I think out of all the dishes we ordered on the menu this time, the asparagus and heirloom tomato were the most new. They were both pretty refreshing and flavorful, but nothing too too special. My least favorite was the soft shell crab, but that is just because I am not a fan of dishes that are too fried. This is a very popular spot and the line showed it - we waited about 45 minutes for 2 people on a weeknight. Overall, the drinks and food were good but I understand where other reviews are coming from when they say the place is a bit overhyped. The strawberry light up drink was delicious and strong! The edamame dumplings were also one of the best I've had; they had an incredible texture. The fried chicken and the truffle mac and cheese were both decent, but I've had better; there was more sauce than pasta in the mac and cheese, so it felt especially heavy. Unfortunately the paella didn't do it for me - I get it's a seafood dish but it had an exceptionally strong seafood taste and wasn't my personal favorite. Their tapas are classic dishes with their own twist that you can't just find at another restaurant easily. I ALWAYS order the edamame dumplings. The skin is nice and chewy and the filling is creamy, with a light taste of edamame. I also get the steak dish every time i come here because i just love steak and they cook it perfectly (medium rare, you can't choose how it's cooked). I tried the truffle Mac and cheese for the first time and really enjoyed it. It gets a little heavy but that's why you pair it with the yummy kimchi paella. The vibe is cozy and intimate. Luckily there's a decent amount of seating inside so we didn't have to wait once they opened. It was probably my least favorite item, I think it would have been much better if there was more sauce or something on it. My friend and I came right around opening time and we were seated right away. I totally loved the ambiance here b/c it's a good drinking vibe. Servers were dressed pretty hip and they are super attentive and nice. They have a lot of tables and seating, but the tables to get tight and it's not the easiest to get around (especially going to the restroom). The food here was different from what I expected. It is definitely fusion tasting, so if you want an authentic Korean food, this place is not it! I think the most familiar dish was the korean popcorn chicken. The Caprisun drinks are the most popular cocktails here, and they're really pretty as they're in a pouch with a straw and LED light. However, but they are pretty strong.. Definitely a lot more soju than I expected, so keep that in mind! This place is definitely pretty for visuals and the vibe, both the restaurant itself and the food, but I did have mixed feelings about the taste of the dishes. So happy I got to visit this place again! We went on a Saturday at 10pm snd luckily we're able to grab a table that just opened up, otherwise the restaurant was still packed, even at 10 lol! This time around I tried... Asparagus 5/5: holy cow the sauce that it comes with is absolutely stellar! It's got a little kick to it. And the asparagus itself is cooked well. Easily one of my favorite dishes of the night Plantains 5/5: wow who knew that plantains with sriracha goat cheese would pair so nicely?! Sweet meets spicy. Another fave. 3.5/5 kimchi paella: my feelings from my first review still stand. Don't really taste the kimchi much but it's still a decent dish. 4/5 soft shell crab: crispy outside, juicy inside. Just wish they served it with a bit more wasabi ramoulade. There wasn't enough so we started using the sauce from the asparagus dish too lol! 4/5 lucky noodle: thick flat noodles, yummy sauce, just not the biggest fan of fennel lol 5/5 Truffle Mac and cheese: a fave amongst everyone at our table of six! Perfect amount of truffle flavor. Rich and creamy. 4/5 Korean popcorn chicken: not bad but definitely have had better Korean chicken! It wasn't as most as I would have liked it to be. Flavor was yummy though. 4/5 steak: love the feta grits, steak was tender, accompanied by a soy-garlic glaze that was actually nice and sweet. 3/5 duck confit empanadas: meh these were just okay. A cozy spot in East Village, Thursday Kitchen differentiates itself from the many Korean restaurants in NY by serving Korean-style tapas and juice box drinks in a casual environment. It's a fun spot to share good food and try a variety of flavors. All the tapas we tried were great. My two favorites were the edamame dumplings with a delicious creamy filling and the lucky noodles with good bounce and a kick of spice. The dishes all leaned acidic though, and some could do without the squeeze of yuzu/citrus. The service and atmosphere were both solid. The space is a bit crammed though and there is a scent of truffle that fills the restaurant. It smelled good but perhaps they need a bit more ventilation. It's relatively easy to walk into and overall a good pick if you're looking for something more unique than BCD Tofu and more casual than the contemporary Korean spots in the area. read more

I was particularly excited to try the kimchi paella and it really just tasted like friend rice with some crispy burnt paella style parts. I was hoping for more and a bigger portion. The lychee martini was pretty bad although the light up cube and drink pouch were cute but tacky. When in East Village, this place is a must! Dishes are served tapas style. Walk-ins only. Come early to add yourself to the waitlist. We ordered Steak, Korean Popcorn Kitchen, Kimchi Paella, Soft Shell Crab, & Gnocchi. Would 1000% go back & order every item on the menu next time. I would rate this spot five stars but minus one star if you get seated by the bar. Dined here in January and was seated at the bar (by the entrance door). Whenever someone would walk in, we felt the cold draft :( Since people were coming in and out, food got cold within minutes. The seating by the bar wasn't the best. Make sure to come early to put your name down because they don't take reservations! We went at around 7 on a Friday night (3 of us) and had to wait about 30 minutes (even though they said we would have to wait closer to an hour). What I ordered: we each got a soju cocktail. I have the mango lychee and my friends got the strawberry. They were both delicious. I love the bag they come in. So fun! They are totally worth the $13. For food we weren't too hungry so we just shared three plates- the edamame dumplings, kimchi paella, and truffle Mac n cheese. They were all soooo good, but I think my favorite was the edamame dumplings. It was the perfect amount of food bc we weren't too hungry. Great, attentive service. Overall loved eating here. Heard it was a popular place so really excited to try it out. The food here is "tapas" style, with small shareable dishes. Each dish we got was packed with flavor! A must visit!!! One of the best spots in the city. Tips: Get there a few minutes before 6 PM/opening if you don't want to wait. Even when we got there 10 minutes before opening, people were lining up since it's such a popular spot! They also recommend ordering everything at once, since the food is freshly crafted for 20-30 min. Highlights: 1) Vibes: fun music, cute outdoor and indoor seating. Ample seating indoors (not pictured). 2) Staff: super friendly, super attentive (filled our water any time it was running low). Also helped us out with our order! 3) Food: Edamame dumplings are a must - our favorite! We also got the duck empanada (absolutely bursting with flavor) and the kimchi paella (was more of a fishy kimchi fried rice I'd say - perhaps not our top choice). I was waiting for weeks to try this place thats close to my apartment. I was not disappointed. The dimly lit restaurant was great vibes and they had an awesome playlist going on (mac, weeknd, etc.). The food didn't take long to get to us and the staff was friendly to us the entire time we were there. The food was AWESOME, the thing i love about tapas is that restaurants can really focus on the food itself. The truffle mac and cheese was no doubt the best mac and cheese ive ever had. the lucky noodles had an amazing texture to them. The popcorn chicken and the crispy crab dish they had also were great. Great place to go with friends and share a bunch of things. The vibes are hip, fun, and dark. Their dishes are small and pricey, but delicious. They're also pretty well-known for their cute drinks in capri-sun style pouches, which taste strongly of the flavors that they come in. I really enjoyed the truffle mac and cheese, although it is extremely heavy. It's rich, the pasta is al dente, and the cheese sauce has a balanced flavor of truffle. I also liked the duck confit empanadas, which had a good amount of duck inside. In my opinion, you could skip the lucky noodle and get a much better beef noodle elsewhere. For dessert, the popcorn ice cream was good, but it's basically just vanilla ice cream with caramel popcorn. read more
