The filling is rich and layered without being heavy, the wrappers are silky, and the savory broth pooling at the bottom of the plate with those little radish slices and crispy fried shallots on top? Stunning presentation and even better flavor. The ribeye was a standout -- incredibly tender, juicy, and that dipping sauce with scallions and chili was a perfect complement. We could not stop eating it. The bok choy was simple but executed flawlessly -- vibrant green, garlicky, and a nice balance to the richer dishes. Don't skip the vegetables here. And the mango sticky rice for dessert was the perfect ending. The mango was perfectly ripe and sweet, the blue butterfly pea sticky rice was a gorgeous touch, and the coconut cream drizzle tied it all together beautifully. I I had such a great time dining at RYNN Thai Restaurant. I ordered a Thai iced coffee and the Pad See Ew, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food and drinks were even better than expected. The service was superb. I went during a weekday so it wasn't too busy and I was attended by such kind women who made the experience feel welcoming and relaxed. I asked for extra chili sauce and they brought it out quickly with no hesitation. The ambiance is really nice and pretty perfect for a friend meet up or a cute date night. This place has always been on my to-try list, and I'm glad I did. There is some bar seating, and a couple of tables in the back. I definitely would recommend reserving as I can see space getting kind of tight. If you're seated in the back of the restaurant, waiters may have a harder time getting to you. - Peek Gai, (4.5/5): 3 pieces of fried chicken wings. Perfectly crispy, nicely salted, and dip was nice and tangy. Portion size was small relative to the $15 price - Kee Mao, (4.5/5): I love the big flat noodles! They are so chewy and pair nicely with the sauce. I substituted shrimp with chicken, and the waitress was kind enough to bring me more chili flakes to spice it up more - Nuer Yang Jaew, (4.5/5): good steak! It was juicy, not at all chewy and pretty moist. I returned to this Thai restaurant a couple of months ago, having first visited a few years prior. The menu is a bit smaller compared to many other Thai spots, which I didn't mind, as the food in general was still pretty tasty. I started with a cocktail, the Morning Dew for $19, with mezcal, aloe vera, and lychee, which was decent. It was definitely mezcal-forward with a bit of sweetness from the lychee. We started this time with the Tum Strawberry, their unique take on a Thai salad for $15, consisting of fresh strawberry with spicy dressing. If I recall correctly, I slightly preferred the La Tiang from last time, but this was still very tasty. The sweet strawberries went well with the sweet, salty, and spicy dressing, which had some fish sauce, chili, and other ingredients. The portion size was good enough, the flavors were nice, and the price was decent enough that I would recommend this. For mains, two of our dishes matched our previous experiences. As before, we loved the Nua Yang Jaew (grilled northeastern style ribeye steak,) while I found the Panang Ped (roasted duck Panang curry with flatbread) to be fine again. The steak (which is $2 more, being $30 now) was tender, and the jaew sauce was slightly sweet with enough chili to balance. The duck for $28 was fine, with enough meat and a well-seared duck, but I prefer other spots in terms of their panang/phaenang sauce. The only new dish was the Braised Pork Belly (or rather Moo Palo) for $27, listed as 5 hours slow-cooked in five spices with shiitake and baby bok choy. I'm usually not the hugest fan of this Chinese-Thai specialty, but they cooked this quite well. The pork had very well-rendered fat with enough flavor but not too much, and the five-spice powder wasn't too overpowering. The vegetables were good as well, with my preference being the shiitake as it absorbed the sauce, of course. The food here was pretty good again. It was relatively full given not many places are open, and I'm glad I got to share a meal with my friend that just got in from DC. We shared the wings (4 for $15) and the grilled steak ($28). The wings are so good and crispy and flavorful - my friend really enjoyed them. They were too spicy for me and I think it's partially because I had a cankor sore lmao. Such unique flavor - this is a really decent option. The grilled steak seemed a bit messy looking but it tasted great, I think its a ribeye cut and it's just the piece we got. The sauce for the steak is really good - refreshing to balance out any fattiness from the steak. The steak does not come with a rice, so we got a side of rice ($4). It was such a small portion and it came in the same size bowl as the sauce for the steak, so not a lot at all. It would have been nice to have a bigger portion. I've had Rynn on my list of restaurants to try for a while now. I think I tried to come here twice last year, but it just never worked out. When a friend wanted Thai food for his birthday, I immediately suggested it. Reservations were easy to make about two weeks beforehand and they actually seated us early when most of us were there. It's a small space, but very cozy. We visited during Restaurant Week, so we all opted to go with that option. I liked that they did not require full table participation, even though we did end up doing it. For drinks, we got a bit of everything - Honey Butter Chip Old Fashioned, Not a Mango Season, Coco Mellow, and a Thai Iced Tea. Given my personal tastes, I preferred the Old Fashioned, but the Coco Mellow was very nice and refreshing. For appetizers, we had the La Tiang, Peek Gai, and Tum Strawberry. I thought the egg wrap on the La Tiang and the Peek Gai was a really big serving of chicken wings. The strawberry salad was interesting, but as I'm not a huge strawberry fan, I thought this was just ok. For entrees, we had Crab Fried Rice, Panang Ped, and Khao Soi. I personally had the Panang Ped with duck and flatbread. The curry sauce was very well spiced and there was an abundance of flatbread to soak it up. The crab fried rice was also quite nice. The Khao Soi was a very large portion, but a little bland. For dessert, I had the Mango Sticky Rice but I also tried my friend's Butterfly peas flower Coconut ice-cream. The ice cream was actually really good - and I love that it's vegan, which means those of us who are lactose intolerant can have it! Both desserts were good and you can't go wrong with either option. Really enjoyed the lunch I had at Rynn! They offer a $15 lunch special with an option to add $5 for a drink. The lunch menu is pretty small, with only about 5 options to choose from, but the portions are large, and the food is super flavorful! I ordered the Khao Gai Zaab (spicy crispy chicken with rice). My spice tolerance is not the highest, and I will say I somewhat struggled with this, so if you're a spice baby I wouldn't recommend this, BUT the chicken was so satisfyingly crispy and the flavors went crazy. It's a dish I've never had before, and I could never make it, so I'm so glad I got to try it. My friend got the pad thai which looked delicious. Her portion size for the pad thai was huge, so I appreciate how generous they are. The Thai tea was served with milk foam on top, which isn't something I've ever seen before! After mixing, the color is a darker orange than what you might normally be used to from a restaurant Thai iced tea, and you can definitely taste how the tea has a stronger flavor and is slightly bitter as well (not in a bad way!). I came here during the winter Restaurant Week, and it was a real highlight. Peek gai - Boy were they generous with these chicken wings. Considering it was an appetizer, it could've actually been a whole other main course. The spicy roasted rice dressing had me sniffling, but the flavor was so addictive I kept spooning more on. Pu karee - This crab curry was the reason I wanted to come. I'm usually not a big fan of soft shell crab since it's so fried, but I tried one piece, which was cooked well but reconfirmed my stance. My friend had the remaining three pieces. The curry itself was absolutely delicious though. So flavorful and comforting, with a good amount of crab meat, and an extra little zip from the turmeric. When we arrived though, there were absolutely no tables available and we were placed at the bar to eat. The whole time we were there not a single table opened up which meant that our table was not reserved in the first place which was frustrating. Other than that though, we had a solid experience. I found out about them through the Seated app. The have a concise but interesting menu which includes some unique specialty dishes like crispy soft shell crab, which I had, and the braised pork belly, which my friend ordered. The food came out very fast. I thought the portion was good. The crab was nicely fried. I thought the sauce was a little fishy and not as rich as I was expecting but it grew on me. Blown away by this unassuming spot in the east village! I read through the yelp reviews and was almost swayed not to get the Panang Ped -- I'm so glad I got it anyway. BEST dish of the meal. We also had the first appetizer on the list which was very interesting and tasty -- it was wrapped in an "egg net" which is exactly what it sounds like. We also loved the noodles with shrimp and the spicy cucumbers. The one change I would make to our order was the crab omelette. It was good, but it had a lot of egg to crab ratio. 4.5 stars. Exceptional service will make you feel at home at this inventive Thai restaurant in the middle of the East Village. We went on a Saturday at lunch and the place had plenty of seats. I'd still make a reservation, though, as we went on a holiday weekend. La Tiang: beautiful to the eye and yummy to the tastebuds. Peek gai: it was good, but next time I'd skip it to make space for something more interesting. Tim strawberry: so simple and yet sooo good! Beware... it's spicy! Kra prao ribeye with basil sauce: this is the spicier of the two ribeye dishes and, in my opinion, the better one. The marination is delicious and the meat as tender as you'd expect. Don't miss this dish! Nua yang jaew ribeye: also very good, but it loses a few points due to the sauce which I didn't find to match the flavor of the meat and comes cold, taking something away from the succulence of the ribeye. Mango sticky rice: good, but I've had better ones. Seasonal. Thai tea crème brûlée: decadent and a must-order. Overall, we had a great meal and loved the quiet ambiance. Stellar! So good that I went back again in the same week! First I met up with a friend on a Tuesday night, they take reservations though we didn't make any. Only a handful of tables occupied in the restaurant at 7pm. The space looks pretty new, a mix of traditional and modern--deep marine blue walls painted with traditional Thai figures offset by the caramel wood tones of the table and seats. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered the Pad Thai $20 and Pad See Ew $18 to share. So I normally don't order pad thai because it can be mediocre at some Thai restaurants, but boy this one punched the flavor bell and then some! The rice noodles really stood out, bouncy and slightly chewy in a good way (QQ for those who know the term), the shrimp were plentiful and plump, the bean sprouts crisp and fresh, the tamarind sauce was delicious and brought the authentic slight tang of SE Asian cooking. Sooo good that I kept thinking about it all week and had to order it again. The Pad See Ew was solid with slippery noodles, plenty of pork and slightly crunchy Chinese broccoli, a pleasant sweet soy sauce. Less standout than the Pad Thai but still good. Convinced another friend to come on Saturday and reservations are recommended on weekends, the restaurant was packed and we got lucky to snag two seats at the bar. Ordered the Pad Thai (again very good and my friend agreed), La Tiang $15, and the Pu Karee $32 based on other Yelp reviews. The La Tiang were 3 pockets of marinated mince meat and shrimp with greens wrapped in a delicate netting of egg. A tinge of Birds Eye chili added a spicy kick. Fun to eat and loved the balance flavor that wasn't too salty. Augh, WOW, that soft shell crab was something special ~drooling~ now it's been a minute since I last ate soft shell crab and I didn't know what to expect, sometimes the thing with thin-shelled crustaceans is that not all the shell is light and crispy. Excellent service and tasty delights abound at this intimate, laid-back side street Thai in the East Village. I made a Resy, though frankly on a Monday afternoon you can walk in any time. The well-priced $15 lunch special is generous for 2025 and, though the selections are not expansive, there's sure to be something to please most people. I went with the Khao Gai Zaab (crispy spicy chicken) served with rice and sliced cucumbers. The portion was just right. The spice level was also good. The chicken was slightly crispier than what I prefer, but fit the name. It went down great with a pilsner. Definitely worth more trips, to try some of the more ambitious (and $$$) fare, as well as the happy hour special (2 cocktails and a shared app for $39 pp). read more

The biggest tip I have for this place is to make a reservation! I had made a reservation for a party of 3 at 8 pm on a weekday evening and although we arrived right on time, there were no empty tables at all and we were asked to wait outside for about 15 min (and it was quite cold which was a bummer). My friends and I were excited to try out this spot because we had seen it pop up a few times on social media. Although the restaurant was smaller than I expected, I really enjoyed the decoration and ambiance. I ended up ordering the crab omelet (which was noted to be one of their signature/recommended dishes), and my friends ordered the crispy chicken and duck curry dishes. I have a severe food allergy and had read online beforehand that the staff are quite knowledgeable with cross-contamination measures. Even so, I'm not sure if something happened or if my food just wasn't the freshest, but I felt a bit ill after eating my dish. (I also don't think I would recommend the dish otherwise because the omelette was a bit plainer than I expected). However, my friends definitely enjoyed the entrees that they had ordered and we appreciated how stylishly the food was plated and presented. I think the prices are reasonable for the large portions that are more than enough for one meal. We were able to make a reservation online for the same week and they had a lot of availabilities. The restaurant is small and the tables were close together in the back where we sat. We ordered the Yum Geaw (Spicy Crispy Chicken wonton toss with spicy dressing), the Braised Pork Belly (5 hours slow cooked pork belly in five spices Shiitake mushroom and baby bokchoy), and Pad See iw (Pork with wide rice noodle in sweet soy sauce). The wontons did not have a lot of filling, but I'm glad that they were able to adjust the spice level for us to make it less spicy. The pork belly was very tender and flavorful. The noodles were good, but nothing special. The portion size was on the smaller end for the price, but everything tasted good. The service was attentive, and everything came out in a timely manner. We did feel a bit rushed towards the end because they tried to take the food away, and then they let us know that the next party was here. The restaurant is really small, we had a reservation but we didn't get seated because the people on the table hadn't left, which is unfortunate because the place is so small that there's no place for 5 people to even stand around the restaurant. It was really cramped and super loud. We finally got seated, the tables don't have a whole lot of space between them so it feels like you're on some kind of shared table. The table next to us was really loud and that really made us enjoy our experience a lot less. It was impossible to hear each other over the constant noise. They have really adorable looking menus and I would say their drinks are innovative and interesting, and they all looked great! I ended up trying the Thai iced tea and it was AMAZING! Probably one of the best ones I've had. We got a few of their appetizers Crispy wontons: this was basically a fried wonton nacho style in Asian flavours, incredible. It was sweet and spicy and crunchy and I loved it. Mushroom croquettes: also pretty good, a little mushy but I liked these too. Tum strawberry: something new and unexpected, this was a hit also Dumplings: I skipped it due to allergies but heard that it was the best appetizer of all After some amazing drinks and appetizers, we felt a little let down by the entrees. I got the Khao soi, I expected it to be soupy and more flavorful but it was below average for me. The fried chicken wasn't great either. Other mains on the table were soft shell crab, pork belly, and pad pak. My friend who got the pad pak was vegetarian with egg allergy, and barely had any options here. This looked like the saddest of all entrees, as it was just boiled cauliflowers on a plate with rice and no seasoning. Extremely disappointed with that. We really enjoyed our walk in dinner. Ordered crispy wings to start which were juicy and spice dusted . Onwards had steak and I had Penang curry with duck . My best friend and I saw this place on our instagram and immediately placed it as a spot we wanted to try. We made a reservation for 6:30 on a Thursday and the place wasn't super crowded. The decor is amazing. They have both food and drink menu and the staff was so friendly. We decided to get the pad see ew - delicious, the noodles were super flavorful and the meat was so tender. The crab meat omelette - I would pass on this (not sure if it's because I don't really enjoy breakfast food at dinner but it was just alright nothing special). We also got Nua Yang Jaew which was delicious - very good flavors and also super tender. For dessert we got the banana roti - this was not what we expected and it also came with ice cream.
