I came here with a friend who only eats Gluten Free and this was a revelation for her (similar to their sister restaurant's modern bread and bagel), I think the genius here is that they deeply embraced gluten-free as opposed to making it some sort of nebach thing. For example, the gluten-free bun is toasted to perfection and buttered. Now for the food. For starters, we got the onion rings which were fried to perfection, not overly greasy and just excellent, they came with this awesome zingy sauce. We also got the sweet potato wedges which were great, but the dipping sauce was the real star. It was like a sesame-based sauce (think techina), but next level, I honestly wanted to buy a big one to take home. For mains we got the Nashville sandwich. The "chick'n" was excellent, I mean it was like a chicken burger-it tasted somewhat like chicken, and was delicious in its own right. It is hot as advertised. Drink-wise, she got the gold rush and liked it. I got the Mockingbird, it was excellent, heavy on the blackberry, and was blue and pretty. The decor was millennial, nice and brilliant, definitely a great setting for a romantic date, or really anything. The only criticism I have, is our food did take some time to come out-there really was at most 2 other dining parties in the restaurant, but the waitress was great and took care of us. HOWEVER, despite this, our waitress Zoe was absolutely incredible and was the sweetest human being ever (despite the fact that I know she was really overwhelmed with a lot of tables when we were there!) so I really did not mind the wait. To drink, I had the Full Time Lover which was incredible-definitely on my list of top 10 cocktails I've had in the city! To eat, we tried: Onion Rings: YUM! I love a good beer-battered ring Truffle Fries: always a winner, can't go wrong with anything truffle and you'd never know these were vegan Buffalo Popcorn Chick'n: good but needed more sauce! Came here a few days ago as a group of 4 for lunch and we were really relieved to have been able to get seated right away without a reservation. I ended up ordering the funfetti waffle and would recommend this to anyone who wants to feel like it's their birthday - it was that indulgent! The waffle had a wonderful texture - crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and it was topped off with a ton of crumble, strawberries, and a scoop of ice cream. All my other friends ended up ordering savory dishes and were impressed by the taste and portion sizes. However, besides getting seated quickly, service was kind of meh. It's not fair to put the blame on any individual person since there was literally only one person manning every single table in the entire restaurant, which doesn't seem appropriate at all. Love the Aussie bowl - had the vegan option before, and regular scrambled eggs this time. the coconut kale, sausage mushroom and sauces are such a nice kick to the fresh veggies and quinoa / brown rice combo. Perfect for post workout (or hangover??) SO had the huevos divorciados - it was a bit disappointing as huevos rancheros is usually a filling dish, but this was on a thin tortilla shell and one egg or so. The sauce was bland too. But we enjoyed everything else. We didn't have it in us to try the giant latke and did the latke tots which came with a nice homemade sour cream and apple sauce. The coconut pancakes were DENSE! I have passed this place countless times and have never had the chance to stop until now. The fish tacos were a nice portion since I was not really all that hungry. I though the fish could use a little more seasoning but it was still very nice. My friend got The Night in Bangkok which she thought was good but also could use a little more seasoning. The reason I won't be back to this spot is the outdoor seating was a bit dirty that it attracted roaches. The place had quite a number of roaches crawling on the tables and the outdoor seating fixture it was really disgusting. While I know that a lot of this is out of their control I think they have to maintain the outdoor seating and food on the floor. The unit next to this place had mice in the unoccupied hut. Came by for a Saturday brunch and was greeted nicely at the front entrance. It wasn't too busy at ~11am but that may have been as it's rainy out. We were seated and given water, but after perusing the menu were not returned to to have our orders taken. After making eye contact w/ numerous servers, one finally came and we gave him our order. We were told that 'there was no more iced tea' at 11:15am. I was given the choice of hot tea or coffee and opted to stay with water. I got the Leo bowl and my friend ordered the Huevos Divorciados along with a cold pressed juice. Leo Bowl came as larger than I had envisioned. There was quinoa as the base with chunks of salmon with what appeared to be everything seasoning over it. There were also some sweetened onions and spinach to eat with the dish. Overall each element was alright, but seemed like something I could make myself. The dish was also quite salty. When another waitress stopped by, we asked if we could get an iced tea, to which she immediately responded yes and brought one over. No idea what the first waiter was talking about. Iced tea wasn't anything special - just tea with ice, but good nonetheless. My friend enjoyed her Huevos Divorciados but noted that it was definitely quite average. The cold pressed juice was "very healthy" as she put it. Overall bill came out to be ~$30 pp including tax and tip. Given this is pretty far up, there are many other spots in the neighborhood that have better dishes for a better price as well. If you're vegan or have heavy dietary restrictions (or only really care about the aesthetic), then I could see the draw, but otherwise wouldn't particularly recommend. read more

It was great that we were able to sit although we had to wait about 15 minutes more for one of the members of our party . The cocktails were top notch although a bit on the pricey side. I had the "strawberry fields" and it was just enough sweet and refreshing to hit the spot. for starters we shared the vegetarian dumplings; the sauce was pretty good, but the overall consistency of the dough was not great and it was a bit sticky on the teeth and the palette. For my main meal i had a "chicken sandwich". It was some sort of fake chicken imitation which was good even-though i do not now what it was actually made of. The downside was the bun on the sandwich was dry and even with mayo and whatever condiments it felt like eating saw dust. Hard to miss this place as if it fluorescent pink and other neon colors. Didn't know it was a vegan restaurant until a friend recommended it for brunch. Compared to their competitor Blossom across the street, Thyme and Tonic has a wider variety of brunch options available and a lot more seating and fun non alcoholic drinks. However, the food was mediocre compared to most. I ordered the veg bowl with vegan feta and my friend ordered the vegan lox potato latke. Both were edible, that's it. The vegan feta was not appetizing or like any other vegan feta I've had before, it resembled chunks of tofu and had 0 flavor. The rest of the bowl had no seasoning whatsoever and there is no salt or pepper available on the tables to spice things up. The vegan lox latke was just that- potato and vegan lox (carrots) and not worth $19. My strawberry lemonade was actually delicious but my friends mimosa was weak and very small. Service is extremely average. Made a reservation for 2 and the host looked completely clueless as to what I was talking about when we checked in. Definitely didn't save us a table and just threw us wherever. I didn't enjoy the host putting people directly next to us in the squeezed 2 person seats near the back when the rest of the restaurant was empty. Oh, I'm torn. I feel like this is JUST my type of place. Healthy eats with a pretty, flowery theme (at least based on the outdoor seating). But the food simply did not blow me away. It seemed like eats I could have just put together from items at Trader Joe's. We asked if they were pet-friendly, to which they responded that yes, they were (hurray!), but we would have to dine in the outdoor seating area (understandable). But...something just...smelled off in the seating area outdoors...on the more offensive side. My bf and I wondered if it could be the flowers that were hanging. However, the flowers looked fresh, not dead. Bf and I let it slide; it was bearable (mind you, I've got a weak stomach). Ordered the reuben sandwich. It was satisfactory. Something I could have put together from Trader Joe's items (the prices at Trader Joe's are incomparable - but granted, this is the city, so can't expect Thyme & Tonic to compete with their prices). And there was a good amount of Russian dressing which complemented the contents well. My bf ordered the bruschetta, which the waiter asked if he would prefer to be vegan or non-vegan (just a heads-up for anyone that would consider this meal). We had seen some reviews noting slow service, but based on our visit, the restaurant has already made huge improvements here. Service was super fast, attentive, and friendly. Fun vibe, too - it was hard to tell from the yelp photos but it was very buzzy and energetic (it was a Saturday night so YMMV). The menu also has a wide range of options to suit whatever food mood you're in from small plates to entrees, and new American, Mediterranean, and Asian inspired dishes. Areas for improvement: the food, while good, fell just shy of hitting the mark. It seemed like things were "almost but not quite," and as a result the quality for the price point felt a little high. T&T USED to be a wonderful restaurant, now look at all the bad reviews! I've been going there for over 7 years. Not anymore. No one is going in there anymore: the place used to packed night after night, now the bar is completely empty during dinner and the entire place is like a ghost town. They removed the best items from the menu (no more chicken tenders!) and they've jacked up the prices to the level where it's a complete joke ($15 for a small plate of French fries!). Thyme and Tonic is trying to make fetch happen -- by which I mean, it is attempting to make the Upper West Side cool and worthy of the 'gram. While we all know that making fetch happen is a losing game, Thyme and Tonic comes pretty damn close. It's a super trendy place with a fabulous outdoor setup and tons of healthy eats. I can't say any of the food will wow you, but you'll get a solid meal here and will feel weighed down when you leave. Virtually the entire menu is gluten-free and vegan, so all folks with dietary restrictions can rejoice. Came here at 8:15 last Wednesday night. I'm used to UWS restaurants being pretty sleepy on weeknights, but this was not the case on our trip. It was completely backed with folks hanging out on the sidewalk for tables. They were running about 15-20 minutes behind schedule which meant we had to wait for some time to sit, but it wasn't a huge deal. They seemed a bit understaffed. Luckily, I was there with a friend I hadn't seen in years, so I was more than happy to be there with her for more time than expected. And while you can't choose indoor or outdoor when you make a reservation here on Yelp, you can text your preference to the automated service that will ping you the day of your reservation, and the restaurant will get it (that's what I did and it seemed to work). The outdoor setup is full of greenery and is generally lively, which makes for a fun dining experience. Drink-wise, Thyme and Tonic as a bunch of fun cocktails, but I was lame and not in the mood to partake. However, my friend did order a spicy margarita and enjoyed it. The cocktail menu is pretty broad and everything on it is reasonably healthy, as far as alcohol goes. As I mentioned, most of the food menu is gluten-free and vegan. You can add proteins to the salads, though the only non-veg option is salmon. I was in the mood for a meal with as many veggies as possible stuffed into one dish, so I ordered the Chopped Salad (Spinach, Cabbage, Avocado, Radish, Brocoli, Crunchy Chickpeas, Cherry Tomato, Red Onion, Corn, Carrot, Bell Peppers, Heart Of Palm, Shallot Vinagrette) and added sauteed mushrooms for additional cost. We also ordered the guacamole and brussel sprouts. The guacamole was pretty standard and the sprouts had a bit too much balsamic on them, but were cooked well. I was in town visiting NY and my two friends that I was visiting both had dietary restrictions. One keeps Kosher and one is gluten free. Thyme and Tonic has so many options! Even for myself that has no dietary restriction, I thought the food was really good. We sat outside and their outdoor seating is super cute. Its covered in flowers and has a really cute vibe. You should definitely get the latke tots to share or even for yourself. They were so good we almost ordered another one. Since Covid, I know a lot of restaurants are doing a maximum of 90 minutes per reservation which I understand. We had been eating for maybe about 50 minutes when we asked for the check. After we paid we figured we were wait out the full 90 minutes since 1) that is how long our reservation was for and 2) it was absolutely pouring rain. We say trying to figure out what and where we should go given the weather. The hostess came up to us and in a very rude voice told us that since we were done eating it was time for us to leave. She started cleaning up the table and before we could say anything, was practically showing another reservation to the table. Again I totally understand the time limit, but we still had almost 30 minutes left in our reservation and we weren't even all up from the table before she was telling another table to sit down. Just pretty looks? My boyfriend and I have walked past this place a few times and we have always decided to come And try and last week we decided it was time. We were taken right away and sat outside. It was close to closing so we ordered our drinks and picked a bunch of items of the menu at random and figured it all was going to be great. Not really the case.... The eggplant tasted like it was sitting in a salt bath and added more salt when it got on the plate... the sweet potato wedges with the dressing.. were just wedged sweet potatoes. The spring rolls were okay, I felt they looked a little sad. The potato bravas were good but I felt like they weren't anything special. Like is the food usually like this, or was it because we came in 45min to close? Because other people came in after us and they were seated... idk very disappointed. On to drinks. The drinks were great. I actually really liked my boyfriend's drink.. it was the lavender blue. I would come back here just for that one drink, but for literally nothing else. The service, drinks, ambiance, were all a hit. Sunday was a perfect day for brunching outdoors for a friend's birthday and the staff was fantastic. They kept the coffee flowing and I a had a yummy peach sangria. I love that everything on the menu is gluten free. I love the latkes, they are my fave. My friends loved the egg dishes and coconut flour pancakes with macerated strawberries. My buckwheat pancakes were a little dense, so I probably will order something different next time but loved the bananas and maple syrup. I really wanted to like this place because it's not too far and caters to a lot of dietary restrictions which is right up my alley. The ambiance is really pretty with the flowers and the outdoor seating. Even the interior has a great feel to it. Unfortunately the food was only mediocre. I ordered the veggie burger, a slew of fried apps, and a watermelon cocktail. The cocktail was bomb and I would suggest going here for drinks. Less sure on the food -- my burger was very dry and overly rice packed. The apps were ok but the dressing was nauseating. I wasn't stunned by this place, which was disappointing because of the exterior and the seeming hype. I don't think I will be back, especially when there are so many other great restaurants in the area. read more
