I'm always happy to come across an entirely GF menu, espec one that takes items that normally aren't GF and makes them GF (instead of those that are just naturally that way). I was a little sad they were out of the pretzel and dumplings but I thoroughly enjoyed their chicken fingers, onion rings, guac and fries. I also enjoyed my passion fruit lemonade and strawberry fields drinks and the HH prices. Sauces were all delicious too, great service and cute vibe. Can't wait to go back!

Burger and fries. AMAZING GLUTEN FREE BUN.

We had such a marvelous experience here. Forgot to get the waiter's name but they were fantastic & gave us some pretzel bites they were going to throw out at the end of the day. Amazing. Gluten free. Food. Wow. So many options I'm not used to having at restaurants. Some amazing classic chicken tenders. A sopping wet burger that held together with a crispy bun. Pretzel bites. CHURROS. Everything was delightfully greasy and delicious. My only critique is that the churros had too much sugar for my taste. I was scraping off gobs of it before each bite. But no complaints. Thank you so much, Thyme and Tonic, for MAKING my NYC gluten free experience! So grateful we stopped here, rock on! Dont forget to check out their bagel places around the city!

    Strawberry pancakes, chicken and waffle

Came here over the summer for a bite and was so excited to come back for brunch. Perfect for being gf/df. Chicken + waffle was perfect amount of sweet / savory and the texture of waffle did not taste gluten free. I also ordered the pancakes with an amazing strawberry drizzle - literally tasted like cake. Staff is incredibly friendly. Vibe is also a 12/10. Perfect spot to come alone and read a book or catch up with friends / family.

It's so rare to find a restaurant that specializes in serving vegan and gluten free dishes. All the dishes were OK. We got the hyped onion rings, but I found them to be a bit too oily for my taste. The chicken tenders were quite good - the coating was surprisingly good for it being gluten-free. The burgers were a bit bland, but I enjoyed the caramelized onions in it. Service was ok. We didn't get a jug of water like all the other tables, so we had to keep asking for it.

Being real, the biggest benefit to Thyme and Tonic is it's gluten free food/kitchen. It's a rare thing to find a place that is truly safe for folks with severe gluten intolerance. The staff was friendly and atmosphere warm and welcoming. At the same time, the food itself was pretty lackluster in flavor and tasted pretty bland. Gluten free doesn't mean one has to sacrifice flavor, just gluten! Ordered a few things with a party of 5 so we were able to try a few things and they each missed the mark in their own way. Again, I don't want to take away the value of a gluten free establishment (which is needed) but when it starts to feel like you're going there because you can versus because you want to, that's where the mark is missed.

    Just egg omelette

Food here was satisfactory- all gluten free, and lots of vegan options including Just Egg for vegan brunch items which is awesome!! I got a Just Egg omelette which was really tasty + large portion. It didn't match the description exactly- the menu said vegan feta but it was replaced with some other vegan cheese (American/ cheddar) but that was not explained. Also it was more like a Just egg scramble, shaped into an omelette. The mixed greens side could be bigger/ more generous and have some dressing. It was just plain mixed greens, not a side salad. Service was what knocked this review to 3 stars. It took a LONG time for them to even come take our order- over 30 min. We were chatting away so we did not even realize how much time it passed, then we had to try to grab their attention several times just to get our order in. After that, our order took almost an hour (for the whole table). Some of our food came out sooner. From being seated to being served food it took ~90min. At the end of the meal, we asked and they said they were short staffed that day. So all this being said, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt this was just an off day. However, I think this could have been communicated to us- "hey sorry things are taking a little longer than usual etc". We were pretty much just ignored until we asked to be served, followed up on our items etc. I'm just sharing my experience- it may not be like this all the time, if/when fully staffed. Also nothing this was ~1.30pm on a Friday afternoon, so kinda off peak hours. The restaurant was fairly empty. The decor of the restaurant is very cute- kinda what you would expect from an Upper West Side brunchy place- clean/modern, plants as decor. I'll be willing to return one more time to see if the service has improved. Overall I appreciate their efforts for a vegan-friendly and gluten-free restaurant.

Great Modern kosher dining. Plenty of gluten free and vegan options. Creative craft cocktails with well attentive staff.

Overall I love the concept of this restaurant. If you eat gluten free, vegan, or even pescatarian, you're in luck. The restaurant has a LOT of potential and I hope it continues to improve over time. It's on the pricier side. The appetizers were both good, my favorite was the dumpling dish by far -- it's not often you get to eat dumplings on a gluten free diet. The chili oil and garnishes were deliciously soaked into the highly realistic dumpling wrappers. The rice paper Vietnamese roles were just OK, the presentation felt rushed and they weren't wrapped very well. For a main dish I had the pesto bowl with fusilli. Honestly the dish was super disappointing. I love pesto and I love pasta but it was a green sauce, a sprinkling of vegan Parmesan cheese and that was it. No other garnishing, no additional elements or texture at all. While it tasted fine, this could have been something even more delicious with a bit more thoughtfulness. The drink menu is expansive and the drinks are wonderful. Service is hit or miss, definitely some potential for improvement there too.

I have not one negative thing to say about this place. Yes, it's a vegan and gluten free menu. Yes, you would never know the difference. However, it's really cool that they DO offer non-vegan eggs and salmon for non-vegan eaters. The spot is gorgeous, indoor and outdoor seating. It's all pink and bubbly, flowers everywhere. Playlist was on brand too. The quality of everything we ordered was ridiculously good. Definitely order the fried chikin and the coconut pancakes! Our server was a gem, very attentive and recommended amazing apps/drinks for us. My favorite liquor is Gin... hence the "tonic"...most of their cocktails were all curated with that particular spirit, although they do have other options. Both the "Blue Lavender" and "Kiss me goodnight" were delicious. It was my sisters birthday and when I told the server they brought out the best chocolate moose cake with a HUGE sparkler candle - he even asked me her name so the staff could sing her the birthday song (without skipping the name part of the song) It's the details like that...make a big difference. We will definitely be back!

Place looks really cute for outdoor seating! Lots of florals and PINK. Service is great; there are servers in training but they are super friendly and nice. But the food here was really nothing special.. I got the Brunch Bruschetta and it was mostly toast and mozzarella.. barely any cherry tomatoes.. felt like I could just make this at home for way cheaper ):

My friends and I came here for a birthday brunch, and the place is accommodating to big parties. Nothing was super overpriced if we're talking Manhattan pricing. I wasn't blown away by the food and I left still kind of hungry, which is why I gave 4 stars. If you're looking for a solid vegan-friendly restaurant, come here for their brunch! One other disappointing thing was how almost all their options were soy-based; I'm allergic to soy, so that eliminated almost all the options for me and with so many plant-based proteins out there I was hoping they would have something non-soy based, but alas. FOOD: Vegan lox (5/5) - I've personally never seen vegan lox and this one was made of carrots. It definitely didn't taste like salmon but I really liked the smoky flavor they gave to the carrot. I was impressed! Giant latke (3/5) - nothing special, and in terms of sustenance there wasn't quite enough food to really satisfy. Bravas omelette (3.5/5) - the salsas were delicious and definitely stole the show on this one. The omelette itself was underwhelming, as it was just patatas wrapped in egg. The bread was also good though.

How could I not love a place with the name, Scarlet Lounge?…read more It takes a lot to get me to venture to this part of town and I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a night out on the Upper West Side, but Scarlet has been on my list since I saw owner, Michael Imperioli's announcing the opening on Instagram. I found myself in the area on recent Friday evening and decided to meet up with two friends here. I was smitten at first sight of the beautifully-appointed room, with seductive red drapery and gold accents. All I wanted to do was curl up on one of the velvet chairs and spend my entire evening captivated by imagined past lives of this space... Dorothy Parker holding court here with her Vicious Circle, sipping on Gibsons and martinis. You're going to have a glorious time. We were welcomed by a dashing gentleman at the door who kindly found us seating in the sultry little nook by the piano. Our server never left us wanting for anything and believe me, we wanted it all. Cocktail names are well-priced, especially for Manhattan. I kept to a decent bubbly and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time here.

ONE BARTENDER FOR THE ENTIRE BAR -- READ BEFORE YOU GO:…read more I've never felt more gaslit by positive reviews in my life. The people calling this place "amazing" are either Sopranos fans, personally connected to management, or grading on an unbelievably generous curve. I have absolutely nothing to gain from distorting my experience. And judging by reviews like Benny R's below, I'm clearly not the only one saying this: if you go to The Scarlet, expect to wait forever, get ignored, and leave frustrated. And the worst part? It's not even a one-off bad night. I've been to The Scarlet multiple times, and every single visit has been the exact same mess: one bartender trying to run the entire place alone while customers sit around waiting endlessly for service. Last night (May 20), there were around 20-25 people in the bar between the tables and bar seats, and a single bartender was expected to do everything: make drinks, take orders, deliver cocktails to tables, clear space at the bar, all of it. Unsurprisingly, service moved at a glacial pace. My date and I were seated when we arrived and after waiting 30 minutes without anyone coming over, I finally had to walk up to the bar and order my own drink. It was deeply uncomfortable and unprofessional. Management charging $25 per cocktail while refusing to properly staff the place is ridiculous. If you're going to price drinks like a luxury lounge, at least operate like one. MEMO TO MANAGEMENT - stop being cheap and hire another bartender. Your customers are paying enough to deserve basic service.

You either have to wave madly or go to the bar and ask for a drink. The staff is always closing early with the staff excuse that "we are not busy" yet guests are routinely turned away. The staff is not happy and begrudge being there. DO NOT believe in the hours posted on the website. There is a built-in clientele but the staff can't wait to close it down. I don't know what is wrong with management but they have lost the plot. 3. Ambience - The space could be so much better than it is. The lighting is okay but the seating in the bar area is not appropriate. The adjoining cafe has a better feeling. Ambience has a lot to do with making guests feel welcome - this staff doesn't understand the meaning of hospitality but they should not be blamed. It is clear they have no training and are not held to any standard. If you want to go to a great space, go to the Wallace Hotel around the corner (I am NOT affiliated with them... have just gone there many times). It is so sad to see a place with such potential be so poorly run, especially as they have such little competition. The Arthouse Bar has the potential to be THE leading cocktail/music/late-night bar on the Upper West Side.

Usually that would mean that service is faster as the staff are walking out of the kitchen, but the service here was unbearably slow. We had to crane our heads to get our orders taken, to find someone to give us our bill, and to ask about our order. We ordered a drink (the second drink was sold out and my friend was uninterested in other options) and two appetizers and the drink came first, followed by a twenty minute wait for calamari. The calamari was probably the thinnest squid in the ocean and looked like shoestring fries, but the sauce it came in was delicious. There were approximately three zucchini sticks and four peppers in the calamari, which is on par with many restaurants, but less bang for your buck. It eventually became clear after another 10 min wait that our truffle fries were nowhere to be seen, and since we had to leave for our dinner reservation soon we struggled to flag a server, who then told us that they never put in our fries order. We obviously did not ask them to start making it for us, instead asking for the bill and then leaving. I wish I liked this place more than I did, but the service and staff here were so slow and hard to flag down it felt like we spent our entire meal looking around.

We had an absolute blast from the moment we stepped inside. The whole experience--from the warm welcome at the door to the high-energy live music--was 10/10. The Food Experience: Truly Next Level The food here isn't just "bar snacks"--it's a full-on culinary experience. We tried several dishes and honestly, every single one was a hit: * Grandma's Sunday Sauce: This was the star of the show. It's pure comfort in a bowl and tastes like it's been simmering for days. * The Bacon: You can't go wrong here. It's perfectly prepared, smoky, and dangerously addictive. * The Burrata: So fresh and creamy--the perfect way to start the meal. * Crispy Shrimp: These had the perfect crunch and were packed with flavor. The Vibes & Service The host set the tone right away with a great welcome, and the service throughout the night was seamless.
