Dates of visit: 10/17 & 10/18/14 Yup, went there twice because it was so nice! ;) While staying at the Sheraton, we wanted to keep enjoying our room, but were craving pizza. We heard that the delivery options weren't that great, so we decided to brave the half a block walk and pick up from Ticino. First night we had the fungi pizza, spinach salad, and creamy pesto gnocchi. After a long hike the next day and a few beers later, we didn't feel like thinking much about dinner so we went back! We ordered ahead again, but didn't have as pleasant of an experience as we did the night before. One of the items we ordered wasn't available for carry-out, but we weren't told that until we picked up the food. So we ordered something else and waited at the bar. The staff was very apologetic and friendly, so it wasn't that big of a deal to me. Good customer service wins in my book every time. My friend ordered the salmon (the creamed polenta was cooked perfectly) and I got the spinach salad again and ate our leftover gnocchi, which heated up perfectly! Your wait may be a little long, as they seem understaffed, but they sure do work hard - all the while with smiles on their faces. read more

We came here for lunch. My MIL who is a local brought us. I can see where it would be a little tough to find but totally worth it. Everything was awesome! I had fetticuni w/pesto sauce. Tucked away in the Avon Center, this is a good cozy restaurant, walking distance to the legendary Christie Lodge. The Gorgonzola pizza is a must, and the Misto salad was also a delicious starter. This restaurant is a hidden gem. We ate outside on the patio among the many beautiful flowers and trees beneath large, red umbrellas. The staff was delightful. The food was delicious! As you travel the labyrinth of hallways to arrive, the back of the restaurant faces a lovely exterior courtyard, with the option of exterior dining. My tuna was perfectly prepared although my vegetables were unfortunately smothered in oil. We have owned a condo in Avon since 2004. Our first experience at Ticino several years ago was not great but decided to give it another try. Service was good and food was good. We ordered cocktails to start and ordered "tall" and were charged $3.00 extra for the mixer. Pretty petty! Ordered a glass of wine and the wine is served in a small stemmed wine glass. There is no way this looks like a 6 ounce pour. More like a 4-5 ounce pour. Apparently, the host does not like being challenged on that. Showed us with a shotglass that the glass holds 6 ounces. When I'm paying $11.50 for a glass a wine it should be at least a 6 ounce pour not 5. The host had attitude and was rude and we won't be back. Plenty of other good restaurants here that we like and are treated much better. read more

My wife and I were staying at the nearby Westin Riverfront in Avon for our ski trip. We were hoping to have some good Italian for her birthday so I made a reservation at Ticino. We saw the amazing reviews and so our expectations were somewhat high. They are located on the ground floor in the back of a strip mall, not too hard to find though as it is well marked. Their staff were friendly and hospitable. For a place that has such high ratings on Yelp, I was somewhat disappointed in their food. We had their spaghetti with meatballs, Margherita pizza, salad and soup of the day. Nothing was bad, just nothing outstanding. Their pizza dough was somewhat cracker like and not the usual fluffy texture and flavor associated with a wood burning oven. Pasta and meatballs were rather bland. Not sure if we just ordered all the wrong things, but I don't think I would trek in the snow to eat there again. Rather expensive for what it was as well. read more
