The overall ambiance of this restaurant is upscale because of the view but yet gives the patron a relaxed beach feel. Service was spectacular and the food surprised me. Our server RACHEL was extraordinary! She went above and beyond to make sure we had the perfect dining experience. My husband and I were enjoying a short stay-cation and some delicious appetizers and a bottle of Caymus. We decided to take another bottle back to our room and Rachel went out of her way to find us a wine key to open it once we were back in the room. She also ordered a golf cart to whisk us away to our room instead of walking the very large and private property! I was a first timer coming to Tidal, I have been wanting to try this place out for some time now but have not been able to do so. RESTAURANT WEEK came up and I figured this would be the perfect time to try it! I made reservations for Sunday September 21, 2014 at 7:15 p.m .. we arrived a few minutes early (there was more than enough parking) and we were able to walk down close to the bar (left side of Tidal) to enjoy the view and water as the sun started to set. After enjoying such a beautiful view, we walked back to the entrance of the restaurant. Might I say, the front is beautiful, the water reflecting light against the wall was so mesmerizing that I could stare at it for some time. Walking to the door we were already greeted by smiling faces before even opening the glass doors! Monique that night was the hostess and she was an absolute gem! She smiled and greeted us and right away took us to our outdoor seating. On the way there she knew it was our first time so she gave us a quick tour of the entire place and explained what everything was. The inside was just as beautiful as the outside view. Everything was so neat and clean, very elegant yet modern looking, i LOVED it! Monique walked us out and she presented us with two tables and allowed us to pick where we wanted to sit. We sat closes to the heater and they turned it on for us right away.. she went over the menu and explained restaurant week to us and also gave her recommendations as well (AWESOME POINTS TO HER!). In addition to ordering the Benedict's medium I asked my server to bring me some crostini toast for a few more dollars. The Benedict's cost $16.00. The decor and view are really nice with a great patio right on the bay you could see lit up riverboats slowly cruising around. There was a great lounge firepit area. It was a bit chilly so we dined indoors. The bar area was cold and there were screaming babies like SCREAMING in the bar area with parents who should have taken them outside and no one asked them to leave. I almost bolted immediately there is nothing worse that screaming babies when you are trying to relax over a nice gourmet meal. If I had not just ordered well I would have left. It went on for what seemed like an eternity and I was about to cancel the order when the baby finally stopped. The drinks are pricey most wine was $12-16 dollars a glass and cocktails $12. I got the $7 beer (ouch) which was nothing exciting. I don't mind paying $7 but get some pliney or racer 5 or something good. The RW menu was appealing. The view is fantastic but the food is over-priced. When I drop $180 and $50 for a steak the steak needs to be fantastic and the service needs to be stellar. I'm not a cheap person, far from it, but when you charge 5 star prices the food and service needs to be there. The scallops, bread, cauliflower, and mashed potatoes were great. However avoid the steak and desserts are all disappointing. Also note my server forgot to bring things several times and even forgot that I ordered a side. Which when it came out it presented nicely and it was a decent serving, came with a chorizo jam (odd right?) but it was amazing! I ordered scallops that came with 4 huge scallops over a bed of a grain (I don't remember what exactly but it was good) they were perfectly seared and tender! Definitely was enough! My husband ordered the shrimp special, came with 7 shrimp and a side and he chose the mashed potatoes. The potatoes were perfect, creamy and smooth. The shrimp was cooked perfect! My family had the weirdest experience at Tidal. The menu was preset, which is very different from the menu items I see posted or talked about in other reviews. The preset menu was $46/person. Which really isn't that bad, but the food was really disappointing. We had the brisket and the ribs. Both saturated in sauce and over seasoned and sugared. Then the sides were brought as big dishes for the table. The pickled green beans were awful, the beans were awful and the cole slaw was awful. The mashed potatoes edible. The dessert was banana baby food with salt. I'm not a picky person, I just don't understand how the heck everyone else in the restaurant was enjoying the food. This was such a let down for the cost. I recommend calling this restaurant before eating here, to see what the menu options are. The waitress was sweet, the Missus cocktail was delicious. We spent $408 on 6 plates a cocktail and a beer. This place presents better than it delivers, in our experience. Lovely setting, with plenty of elegant waterfront seating. We had a charcuterie and an octopus starter. I had a rye Manhattan that was very solid, and she had a good Sauvignon Blanc. Our server could have accentuated all this with an even modest effort, but he could not be bothered with much hospitality. When my wife asked about their house SB, he said, "It's a Sauvignon Blanc. They all taste pretty much the same to me." He also had no idea which rye they'd use for well drinks. He was pretty disinterested overall. We went here for brunch this last weekend and we were blown away by how incredible this restaurant is. First of all, the view is amazing. They sat us on the patio right away without any wait despite everyone having a tough time with staffing these days. More importantly, the portions are HUGE! My wife got the biscuits, chicken, and gravy and they were gigantic. It wasn't just one or a couple biscuits, but a long homemade biscuit covered in cheese. The gray had a mildly spicy chipotle flavor, and there were three large boneless, skinless, fried chicken breasts--it has fed us for three days. My mother-in-law got their brisket benedict and it was also massive and flavorful. Nothing like the tiny benedicts I'm used to seeing at most places. I guess the special chefs was of on July 4th, to start we order daily cheese and charcuterie selection, you have a choice you either select what choice you want. One choice 10$ three choices 24$ or five choices with special plate house made jam a fruit nuts and crostini, cheese was ok not many choices of cheese to go with and for the dinner we order grilled whole striped seabass and soy braised beef cheeks. I have to said as Asian yes Asian you're know they eat fish a lot and with bone with it and they're good at getting the bone out of the fish but wow this seabass have lot of fish bone in it, I having tough time to get it out and make me wondering what happen if a foreigner eating this how are they getting the fish bone out with out choking it, fish was ok nothing special just deep fry served with sticky rice and special sauce on a side. And here the soy beef yes soy sauce, you're know what a soy taste like right it salty, too salty I have to drink a few cup of water to get it down. I expected more out of a resort flagship restaurant, I really did. We happened upon their Aloha menu which promised a Hawaiian inspired menu but was anything but. It's a fixed price set menu setup - you chose an entree. For starters: Hawaiian rolls with butter?? Really. Poke was decent but lacked spiciness. The sides of mushy vegetables and overcooked rice were puzzling - they were supposed to accompany a steamed fish which turned out to be yellowtail. Yellowtail doesn't steam well...it remains flaky and dry. The only saving grace of the meal were the cocktails: tropical and refreshing but how hard is that. The day before we had food from the beachy barefoot grill and it was by far superior from this overpriced tourist trap. Not gonna repeat this mistake again. read more

The part that was weird was when the waiter asked her food was and I said I wasn't really impressed, he said oh yeah we got complaints about that dish and I've only tried a bite of it. And that was one of the main problems, there was a table next to us of six people and apparently he thought they would be bigger tippers then we were because besides being really good about pouring our wine he virtually ignored us. Dessert was interesting but the apples tasted burnt and again when we asked our waiter he said oh yeah we been having problems with that dessert and it hasn't been coming out right?? This is a gourmet restaurant serving food for restaurant week. And you don't say anything until we have the desert? This was a great dinning experience. I love everything accept one item, the CHAIRS are horrible! They are small metal weak silver chairs that are not large enough to fit your butt with no cushion. BUT the food was great, wait staff was great, the view was beautiful, the inside and outside was lovely. But the chairs have to go, right now. If it were not for the chairs, I would have given Tidal 5 stars. It's my birthday, they even gave me a birthday chocolate on my desert, but no song.... lol. Keep up the good work Tidal.
