Pay very close attention to your bills !! We came here with friends 2 months ago . They had a cabana and the waitress overcharged them on their bill . Once my friends spoke up it was corrected . Fast forward to this past Sunday . My friends once again got a cabana but I decided to order my food and drinks from the restaurant directly and open a tab . I ended up forgetting my card and they had closed but I made it just in time for the lady to hand me my card thru the door telling me they already added tip . Totally fine until I saw my bank statement and they had way overcharged me . Either someone gave themselves a massive tip or they just added lunch on for 3 other people . I called the hotel multiple times and left messages that were never returned . I reached out to Hyatt consumer affairs , nothing ... so I reached out to my bank and they did some digging for me . Well.... Food definitely terrible , I asked for the brisket tacos and was bad , the brisket is more like pull pork with tons of bbq sauce, and weird guacamole sauce, staff took forever to bring items and menu not that exciting, only thing good was the seating next to the pool read more

Mistakes happen. I get it. But at least apologize, is that so hard? instead the server showed how inconvenienced she was at even the idea of rectifying her mistake. I ordered a 12 oz raspberry daiquiri but after a few sips I realized they gave me a virgin. It wasn't bad so I kept drinking when perhaps I should've complained sooner. instead 1/3 of the way through I let them know and requested to be refunded the difference ($8). The barista was gracious in offering to make me a real daiquiri but I declined. Food was very good. Service was not too good. It was my first time at this restaurant. We enjoyed a flavorous chicken sandwich and fish tacos. Delicious. As for the Cuban server. Sorry, we did not get her name. She charged for her tip on the receipt. I questioned the charge. She said it's mandatory. I didn't catch it right away. I already put a $17 tip to the bill. Then I seen the additional charge for tips. It was too late. Be aware if you have the bill signed to the room. She was pushing that method. She insisted to have it signed to the room. If you don't see the final receipt, who knows what this server will charge, for tips, from you. We didn't sign it to the room. I caught her in action and called her out I went a second time. The bartender was super busy. She did her best to assist us. She was working nonstop, with people walking up. We sat at the bar, thinking we would get undivided attention. We were wrong. We even asked a man, in a suit, to help us order more fish tacos. He seemed to be more interested in the receipts he was closing out. We thought he was a manager. He never put in a second order of fish tacos. We waited a long time for them. So we finally got the bartenders attention. She looked to see about the second order or fish tacos. The manager never put it in. She comped the extra fish tacos we ordered, due to inconvenience. We received the check and the gratuities wasn't added. So we asked the bartender about our last experience. I told her about being charged for the tips on the receipt. She indicated that isn't something they do. It's rude to do that. So the Cuban server is shady. As management of this property, she should be reprimanded for her poor performance, for demanding gratuity on the receipt. If she steals from the customers, can you imagine what she does to you guys? You couldn't see this charge, unless you have the original receipt before charges. She is double tapping the system. It's overpriced, even for a resort, even for California. But that isn't my biggest issue. I was kind of irritated that when I asked the bartender about a couple of their beers, she had no knowledge about them. Asked if something was an "IPA" or similar and she said that she didn't know, it was just the name of the beer. The soup, SOUP... is $15. Alex the bartender at Pelican's was rude the other day and did not want to serve me or my kids as he said the cafe is only for hotel guests and you can only charge the snacks to your room. II've previously enjoyed being a guest of a guest for a party and local resort pass guest and seen Alex working begrudgingly this past year. I've eaten with the kids at Pelican's and they live the nachos. I seriously thought his rude behavior was a joke, like someone put him up to stopping me from eating and drinking to help my diet, but my kids really wanted nachos. Either way, I'm pretty sensitive to such male white corporate oppression so me and the kids ate dinner elsewhere. read more

One bartender, no staff--incredibly ridiculous waits considering it's $400+/night hotel. We walked in to get the free kids drink, they told us about at check-in. It's 5:30pm, there are 6 people at the bar, one guy trying to get a drink made, another waiting to pick-up food order to go. Bartender was spinning like tumbleweed in tornado. There were at least 40 open tickets stacked up on the back bar...we patiently waited for 15 mins for these (2) transactions and were then told they're changing out the sprite, can we come back in 10 mins? And wait another 15-20 mins...no thanks. Understaffed and undertrained personnel, I was embarrassed for whomever manages this section. read more

While at the hotel I forgot the name of it I was getting hungry at the pool and decided to get something to eat. The prices are a little high but that's to be expected seeing how you're in SD and at this hotel. The food was pretty good and I wasn't expecting it to be but I was surprised. They have a decent beer menu and a full bar. The service was very nice and during C-19. Some people working at other businesses during these rough times are just jerks for whatever reason just be happy that you're still working. I would definitely eat here again as the prices weren't too bad and the food was pretty good! read more

I freaking love this place. The drinks are strong and the food is delicious. Both times I for the buffalo bites and they are SOOOOO GOOD! I am craving them so bad during this pandemic I started trying to make them at home. Yes, they are that good. One of my vegan friends absolutely loved them, and I made then for my husband (well tried lol) and he also loved them. I cant wait to take him there so he can the 'real thing' lol. When my vegan gf and I went we both got 1 strawberry lemonade type drink and we were both feeling it pretty good by the end of our visit lol. Highly recommend =] read more

Got high with a dude on the sidewalk outside this place. He let me put my SUP in the back of his Dodge Ram. Fell in the ocean a couple times and got cold. Came to this place seeking the warmth of booze and found not only beer and a friendly smile, but a hot tub! Rumor has it that you need a room key to get into the pool, bar, and hot tub, but with enough fireball and some balls, you can do anything. BYO fireball saves $12. read more

Yummy! Best fish and chips ever! Light and crispy, not overly fried, cooked perfectly. The fries.... YUM!

2 stars are just for the great staff working there. The waiters and waitresses are so kind and friendly, BUT the owner/manager guy doesn't even know how to speak kindly to the customers. Unfortunately we had to have our breakfast at this place because we paid upfront for our staying at the Hyatt. All the meals were cold and flavorless. The morning coffee was served in a porcelain like plastic cup and so watery. Hot drinks shouldn't be served with plastic cups. Besides not healthy, this place is serving breakfast for a 4 star hotel!!!! read more

If I could give it no rating, I would. We stay at the Hyatt all the time and every time I've ordered food from the Pelican's on the Bay, I've sent it back or just paid and didn't eat. I expected so much more from the Hyatt. We came here on NYE. First we went over to the Red Marlin and asked to be seated outside. The host seated us outside with menus and no one ever came out until he came out to check on us about 15 minutes later. We asked where the servers were. He told us our best bet was to walk inside to the bar to order our drinks from the bartender. Then we asked what about food? He said all they had was prefixed NYE meal courses and if we wanted something more casual to go over to the Pelican. Well that would have been nice to know when we arrived! So then we walked over to the Pelican, which is a very small place. Most people are standing at the bar ordering so my husband went in to order and two of the servers there were pawning him off on one another like neither of them wanted to take his order. Then when I go in to ask for the check (because no one is coming out to check on us), I saw our server and just stood to the side until she was free. She was at the register and when she noticed me she said "You're going to have to wait, there's a lot of other people ahead of you waiting on me." WTF!!!! This chick had NERVE talking to me like I was bugging her. I literally walked in and didn't even say a word to her or even tap her on the shoulder. She was obviously in a mood. Needless to say, I was pissed AF after that. So I CONTINUED to stand there and wait patiently AS I WAS from the get-go. Then she paused because she probably realized how rude she was and she asked me if I was the table outside, I nodded my head because at that point she didn't deserve any effort from me and she asked what I needed and I said "just the check". All that attitude and yes, all I was trying to do is PAY and LEAVE! I could tell she felt stupid so she gave me the check right away and I gave her ZERO tip. Aracely, worst server I've had in a LONG time. Go get a job that makes you more pleasant please! People don't pay Hyatt ocean view prices for that bitchiness. Later, we ordered room service from the Pelican and it was cheaper to do a pick up, so my husband went down there and she told him she was sorry and she would try to comp something on our bill.
