We have been coming to the Sarasota / Tampa area for 20 years and are bummed we didn't know about Tide Tables sooner! Our kayak guide in Sarasota recommended it and the fish tacos were some of the best I have every had...no wonder they have won so many awards. We also started with the grouper bites which were fantastic. Lastly the kids ordered burgers and they devoured them. Really enjoyed our first visit to the Tide Tables restaurant. The restaurant is located at a marina and the fish is "right off the boat fresh" & excellently prepared. It certainly isn't fancy (plastic silverware & paper plates) but what matters is the fresh food, friendly service & water views. We started with the chicken & andouille sausage gumbo (delicious and not too spicy) and peel & eat shrimp cooked in Cajun spices with spicy cocktail sauce (yum). We then ordered a burger (standard burger fare) and the outstanding special of sesame Mahi stir fry over rice with slaw. Delicious! We had to take a slice of classic key lime pie for the road. The pure definition of casual waterside eating - We stopped by for a 4:30 PM dinner because we heard it gets quite busy. We sat outside at a picnic table with an umbrella on a sunny Saturday evening, overlooking the Anna Maria Sound. If there's a type of seafood you're looking for, I'm sure they have it - We had fish tacos and fried grouper, but they also have peel & eat shrimp, soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. Service is super-casual, but efficient. We were just drinking iced tea (they offer beer & wine too) and our drinks were refilled. Pricing is reasonable at about $25 per person, which was well worth the experience. If you're staying in Anna Maria Island / Bradenton / Cortez area, this is a terrific option. read more

We were told if you wanted FRESH local seafood to come here by the folks at H20 Watersports & man were they right. The BEST fried shrimp I've ever had IN my life. Flavorful, massive, butterflied and lightly breaded. Tasty seasoned fries. The Mahi tacos and shrimp po sandwich boy were also great. I had a fried sampler platter and their tartar sauce is SO good. Small, mostly outside eating but the BEST taco's on AMI. Last time there was only able to get beer or wine (not a full bar). You might share a table with someone which is cool - cause you never know how much the eating experience is enhanced by sharing it with those nearby. THE best fish I have ever had. It's 100% fresh and they don't serve you anything that wasn't caught that day. The fried grouper bites are delicious as well as the Fried Grouper Basket. The breading they fry the fish in is very flavorful and light and isn't oily like many other fry batters can be. The Fish Tacos are good as well and have a nice Asian flavored sauce which is different than most fish tacos I have tried around here. The fish is just amazing, you must come try! we went once..it was only beer n wine a little pricey. but what really turned us off is the very rude parking lot troll who was very aggressive about us parking there...she is why we won't go there any more and it's actually walking distance from my home. she was so nasty. yeah we WERE going to eat there until you grilled us like criminals about whether or not we were eating there...no thanks. that's not necessary! we are locals. keep your fish tacos we will go elsewhere without attitude. read more

Both the service and the food can be a bit spotty they can both also be spectacular. The shrimp po'boy is a thing of absolute beauty and they have homemade hot sauces to put on everything. If you're going to sit with a drink in hand and watch the sunset it's a gorgeous view out over the ICW and, if you're one of the select few, you can even sit in the air conditioning at the inside bar. Do pay attention to when you go out as traffic for the bridge is intense and once you get there, parking is limited so bring a small vehicle if you can. read more

I visit the area several times each year - I have driven by this place at least a dozen times and never stopped. On my most recent trip to Florida I decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. Me and two of my girlfriends stopped in on a Sunday evening around 6pm and the place was packed. We could only get a seat at the bar. The server was friendly and attentive. The food.. was.. AMAZING. This is probably the best grouper I've ever had. One of my girlfriends had their fish tacos which were also really good. Prices were beyond reasonable, the ambiance is adorable, service was great and food was exceptional. This will be on my list of places to stop every time I am in the area from now on. read more

Food was excellent for this little dive bar and fish dinner. Seating was crowded because it's popular, but we eventually got a seat at the bar. Service was outstanding! The bartender was thoughtful and prompt and accomodating and helpful. The kitchen staff wer fast and accurate with our order. The place could actually expand their bar and seating area to accomodate the customers. Our seats were almost in the laps of the people on stools next to us. Not quite elbow room apart. I was a little skeptical as we arrived. I wasn't imagining a Marina restaurant. The woman running the parking lot was so efficient and helpful. We were able to be seated right away, but inside at the bar. So again I was skeptical. But then the food started rolling out. And now I know why people love this restaurant. The conch fritters were amazing. My husband and I both had fisherman's platters with grouper and polished off every bite. The service was great and the owner checked in, which I appreciate. My only criticism is the use of plastic and disposable goods. Especially where ones livelihood is so tied to the environment around them. The staff was very friendly seated us right away inside and then chose to sit outside because of the beautiful view and warm sun. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the grouper sandwich. Both were served hot with french fries and cold coleslaw.
