The secret is in the sauce! This pizza is soo fire some of the best I have ever had something about how delicious the sauce is and the owner and staff couldn't have been nicer! Went to visit our son on Saturday and this place was highly recommended. Called in a to go order...and did not tip because when we went to pick up our order, none of the staff was wearing masks. Had we known that ahead of time we probably would have gone somewhere else. The food was great..but three days later when I checked my credit card I discovered they added their own tip. So I've only been here once so far and have tried the tuna sandy (Kelly's way) and The South Swell pizza. Both were absolutely on par with greatness! Best pizza i have had in souther California.. especially OC. I have an on running joke with my friends about how lame all of the pizza in California is; that joke doesn't include Tidepools. The restaurant itself is ViBe & The staff is Dope! They're recommendations are actually recommendations not just "oh yeah, that's good :)" They're kind & people orientated. The sunrise I believe. It was awesome too! They have a small draft beer selection so naturally I had a hazy. We liked this place so much we're going back to pick up pizza for dinner tonight haha. Pizza was pretty good, I probably wouldn't have liked it if we got it delivered but was good for being able to sit and eat fresh. Greek salad was reallly good actually, Brussel sprouts just ok. Reason for 3 stars is because NO ONE that works there was wearing a mask including those in the kitchen. This rubbed me wrong from the beginning and makes it hard to really enjoy the food. Rode our bikes to the beach and stopped here for lunch afterwards. So glad we did because this place is fantastic! We got the swell pizza which was cooked perfectly with a super crispy crust and the Zeus salad. I used to go to Big Belly Deli back in the day and have lived out of state for some time. On a visit to the beach today (while in town), I learned that this is now "Tidepooles", parked my RV nearby and ordered the Cedar Club. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. We had the Sammy with turkey, bacon and avocado, the big Blake which is a hot pastrami with cheese on seeded rye, and a side of Brussels. Everything was very good, only critique is I wished the Brussels had more glaze/sauce, as it was really good, and the pastrami meat tastes very good although it was too chewy, I'm a hardcore Greenblatt's Hollywood (so sad they closed due to pandemic) fan, and their pastrami is total perfection not chewy and heavy stacked. Due to inflation cost of burritos went up. I got 3 Wakey Wakey burritos with bacon and sausage and I had to mine the burrito to find any bacon or sausage. My bill was 39.00.
