Ahhhh I love me some Tidepoole's!! I ride my bike to the beach every weekend and always stop by Tidepools to pick up some scrumptious noms on the way. The tuna sandwich with guacamole is a culinary masterpiece, but is only served during lunch hours (which I'm usually a little too early for), but the Wakey Wakey breakfast burrito is the most delightful consolation prize. Their fries are AMAZING but also supposedly only served during lunch, although I've actually never been denied my fry order even when arriving 9:30am-11:30am. I'm not sure if they're just super cool about that or maybe I was just misinformed about their availability once upon a time. I've tried the pizzas and they're great too, but if it's lunch time and I'm at Tidepoole's, I get straight to business with that tuna. I'm telling you....IT'S EVERYTHING! read more

This afternoon was my first visit to TidePoole's in Newport Beach. Dane picked up the line to take my order and was very warm/friendly. When I arrived to pick up my order he had a big smile on his face and we had a brief conversation about our day. My order was to-go as we're currently in the midst of COVID life. When I arrived back at my office to sit down and eat I was delighted with the flavorful & savory 'Blake Pastrami' sandwich I ordered. We drove out here to order a pizza to eat at the beach, and boy I am glad we did. We ended up getting the Zeus green salad with feta cheese and it was awesome. The dressing it came with really made the salad. We also got a single fin pesto pizza and it was great! The red onion and arugula on it was a nice touch. We ordered lunch for the office from here and honestly, best Tuesday lunch ever! We had a mixture of salads, pizzas, subs and apps. Everything was amazing! There were no leftovers and theres always usually something left over. My personal faves were the Phoenix (spicy cauliflower bites of joy) and the Vinny G. Family owned sandwich shop, right on PCH in Newport Beach. Their menu is varied and interesting, including made to order sandwiches, pizzas, breakfast burritos, and salads. They also have a good selection of craft beers on draft. The minimally decorated space is filled with natural light and plenty of seating. Kelly was lovely to talk to-really nice folks own this place. I enjoyed an ice cold Beach Cruiser Amber Ale while I waited for my sandwich, which is a perfect red ale in my opinion-nice and malty. To eat I got the Blackie's Sammy, their only vegetarian sandwich, which was very good. I loved the pesto, artichoke, tomato, and arugula combination, and all of the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. My only critique is that the bread was too oily. I imagine they toast it with butter and/or oil, but it was so excessive that my hands were coated in grease upon picking up my sandwich. My boyfriend and I don't normally like Reuben sandwiches, but the owner recommended a Reuben called the Big Blake and it was absolutely amazing. We also had a BLT called the Sandy Haole that was great. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. There are bomb salads, breakfast burritos, and the pizzas are unreal since a well-known pizza chef makes them! Although the food is great, the best part is that this restaurant is located right on the west coast highway and is a 2 minute walk or less from the beach. The vegetarian entrees taste amazing!! The wine is well priced. The place have TVs with great surfing videos. I'm sensitive to noise. The acoustics in this place is amplified 10 times for some reason, making it super noisy. Despite the great food and location, it's difficult for me to eat there. I do take outs. My friends don't mind the high level of noise there. So only you know your noise threshold level. The place is a great local hang out place. Would've gave them five stars but the customer service was bad. I came in at 9:15 and the guy didnt really want to take our order. I've worked in restaurants before and I totally get it if we came in last minute but this was 45 minutes before closing not 15 minutes. He said oh we close at 9 now, let me see if the ovens are off.
