Dental Hygienist Kari does such a wonderful job carefully cleaning my teeth she is very professional towards her work making sure that you are comfortable during the process. She gives you good advice on keeping your gums and teeth clean and healthy I even got a Dental bag for flossing so well. Anna who works at the front desk was very informative giving me some information on Insurance Coverage and other financial matters, the staff is so friendly and the office is always very relaxing and clean. I only gave a "2" rating because my initial visits and the hygienist team were very positive experiences. unfortunately recent contact nearly destroyed my favorable viewpoint. Just over a year after installation my crown began givi me trouble-pain inability to chew on that side and it was very loose. got an appointment right away. Yeah! Nope. Arrived first thing and they looked at me like I was a lunatic. said they didn't have any indication I had an appointment. Finally, when directly confrontEd, a front desk person who had been listening to this and ignoring it, admitted she had made an appointment for me BUT inssited she called me back immediately to switch me to Lexington Park. that never happened. no evidence in my phone. After emergency visit to Lexington Park office I tried calling again, office manager has never responded to messages/requests or followed up. Not just poor custOmer service but dangerous. when I called as a courtesy to cancel an upcoming cleaning I was told rudely and gruffly no I didn't have an appointment and was not a patient there. Not, thank you and we are sorry for what happened. The good news is the Lexington Park staff is fabulous. they took ownership and I am receiving excellent care! read more

I'm not really sure why this place has bad reviews. I have been going here for a couple years and have had nothing but good experiences. I chose this practice because they offer sedation dentistry, and as someone with crippling anxiety it was something I really needed if I was going to prioritize my oral health. I've had a couple cavities filled here, one very recently, and the doctor and hygienist Were extremely kind and understanding of my situation. The receptionist are very nice to talk to you as well. I will say though, the oral surgeon they referred me to to get my wisdom teeth out really sucked. read more

Let me start by saying the clinical staff is phenomenal! All the hygienists and dentists I have seen in the 3 years I've been a patient there have always done a fantastic job. I would give them 5 stars, it's the office staff that's the problem. On top of the cleaning appointments, I have also been a Invisalign patient for 2 years. I started with Dr. Castens in June of 2019, and was so pleased with how easy and smooth the process was. Things were great until Covid hit. I only received 3 aligners at a time, and would been seen in the office every six weeks. However when the office was only seeing emergency appointments I could not continue to receive my aligners since they could not track my progress, WHICH I COMPLETELY UNDERSTOOD. However, during all this, Dr. Castens left the office, turning over my case to Dr. Chapman, no biggie right? When I was finally able to be seen in December he wanted to do new molds and impressions, again, no problem, and told me to stop wearing my current trays as things were not tracking correctly. (not knowing at the time this one appointment would be the only time I would see him) After about 5 weeks I called to see if there was a hold up with my new trays, I was told that they never sent a "treatment transfer request" to Invisalign, so the new molds were never processed. She apologized continuously, and said it was a simple fix, all Dr. Chapman had to do was sign a paper and they would fax it to Invisalign and get it taken care of. No problem, accidents happen. A few weeks later, I call again for a update; Dr. Chapman now only works every other week and would ben handing my case off to Dr. Nik .... this is when I start to get frustrated (why couldn't someone call and tell me that?). Dr. Nik would not sign my treatment transfer without seeing me first .... okay I can understand that. I'm able to make a appointment for April (keep in mind I'm still not wearing trays, and haven't since December), Dr. Nik agrees to take it over, I explain to him the previous mistakes made and this man signs the paperwork in front of me! He asked me to come back the next day to have my teeth scanned which is same thing as molds, but much faster. During that appointment he continued to apologize for the office staffs mistakes, and said I should receiving new trays in 3-4 weeks. Fantastic, making progress! But no we weren't ... Its almost September, I still have no trays. The office staff isn't rude, they're just no help. Every time I call I get put on hold for at least 15 minutes, EVERY SINGLE TIME!! They always have the same response "let me pull up your file ... I don't see any updates .... my office manager will be giving you a call tomorrow". When I ask to speak to her she's conveniently never available ... so busy in fact she has never called me back. It's never my intention to be nasty to people, but when I explain why this is unacceptable and I need some answers, all I get is "I understand your frustration ma'am" ... but no you don't! No one has been able to able to answer why there has been such a huge delay in my treatment, why there has been no communication with me, or what they are doing to fix it. Meanwhile I still have all my buttons on my teeth, my mouth hurts everyday from the retention, and all the progress I made in straightening my teeth is down the drain. I'm aware it wasn't there $5,500, so they probably could not care less. But they are supposed to be advocating for their patients. It's such a shame that living in a world where we can't trust much, we can't trust our health care providers either. read more

I had broken a tooth, and needed to get an emergency repair done on it. Tidewater did their fancy tests and confirmed that I needed a root canal, and they possibly would have to pull the tooth entirely. I paid several hundred dollars in full for the appointment about a week or two in advance. I had been sick as a dog all weekend long leading up to the appointment with a stomach virus. I was weak and hadn't had the appetite eat a single meal for several days. I was not comfortable with being sedated under the symptoms and conditions I was just starting to get over as the appointment approached. I unfortunately had to cancel the day before, as a safe precaution for my health... I called them, and asked for a refund. They told me that it wouldn't be a problem. I just called again (a few days later) after not seeing anything show up in my bank account. They told me that it was coming in the form of a check. But here's where I got screwed: "we can only refund about half of your payments, the $XXX.XX was to hold the appointment and we require two days in advance for all cancellations." We're talking $350.00. So, Tidewater Dental, you mean to tell me that since I was sick and didn't want to complicate my health being heavily sedated for my procedure the next day, you won't refund my full payment? As if you didn't get enough money from my insurance company! I knew I was going to get screwed somehow, and the moment finally arrived. To summarize my review, there are more wallet-friendly and more understanding options in this county. read more

I was sad when my local dentist was bought out by this corporate franchise. They are ok with the really easy stuff, the moneymakers for them, like scaling and cleaning. Don't expect them to handle anything much more complicated than that. And, at all costs, avoid Dr. Graves. She has the bedside manner and empathy of a dead person. She treats you like your dental problems are your fault and she doesn't want to deal with it. read more

My last 2 dental visits have been with the Dunkirk location and they are Awesome! 5 Star service and staff. Dr. O, Cristyna and the Office Manager Jo are superior in every way. This is one place to avoid if at all possible. Having recently moved to the area with the military we took the kids (and my wife) here for their semi-annual exam and cleanings. To be frank, it was an off-putting and very uncomfortable visit, certainly not geared towards children. We had already thought about looking elsewhere when the next issue arose. We paid out of pocket for one cleaning with the understanding that we would be reimbursed when the insurance was sorted out, as one of my daughters is on a separate insurance plan. A few months later (and after some digging from us) it turns out that they were paid by the insurance company but kept both payments! To say the least this office is not well run, and probably the best term is "shady". We will absolutely not be returning. read more

i am a patient of dr. todd and i love his personality. i am also a fan of one of his assistants mingh. i came in while she was out of the country and i was not satisfied with my results. i noticed and felt something not quite right. well, i m.ade an appointment and i tried to explain the situation as best i could. i feared that they would think that i was crazy or over exaggerating. however once i arrived and met with mingh she completely understood. i did not have to go into details and i was so happy. she resolved my issues and i left very happy. great job mingh!!! and thanks for getting it right. can i tell you how depredssed i was because it was like my whole world changed in an instant and i had regrets. now i am back to me and smiling again. i had tmj and the pain was unbearable but now the pain has lessened and i can now eat again. i just wanted to share my testimony with others to let them know how blessed i feel and also how they try to accomodate you. thank you tidewater dental for helping me to smile again....customer service was great! read more

I made an appointment to get my teeth cleaned because they told me the first time I came they didn't have time. for starters they have horrible time management, & the second time I came in they told me I didn't even have an appointment. just a few days prior I had called an made the appointment for that day. absolutely terrible service I do not recommend this dentist. read more

My experience at dentist offices has been extensive. Starting with my first set of vaneers at 14 years old. I've had work done in over 5 states and this has to be one of, if not The best experiences I have ever had with a facility and their staff. Everyone Inhave encountered at Tidewater has been friendly and caring. Dr. Ranju Bhasin was Ecellent! She took the time to explain every scenario for me in my treatment plan, she was genuinely caring and never made me feel uncomfortable to be in her care. Throughout my work yesterday she was always focused and in tuned to how I was doing. Her assistant Shelby was just as careful and caring. Every assistant I encountered there was great. Getting dental work done for me has always been a nightmare but I must say Dr. Bhasin and the staff has made it as comfortable as possible and for that I am thankful! read more

I've been going here for several years and was quite pleased for the longest time. Then, I had an appointment for a Friday- called on a Wednesday to explain we were sick and would rather not come coughing. I was assured they appreciated the early notice and the fact we wouldn't be bringing our cold germs into the office. Weeks later I started receiving bills of $50 each for a missed appointment. I have called and was rudely told they bill for missed appointments. I tried to explain that I had called two days before and was told it was fine and I would reschedule at a later time. I was again told it would be noted on the account and be taken care of. Two months later and still getting notices/ I sent a certified registered response... still getting late notices for the erroneous billing. Now I'm about to pay a lawyer to send notice and file suit if necessary. Just do the right thing by your customers. Obviously you are willing to lose thousands in revenues to pursue $100 in false charges? Wow read more

I just have to say I'm a patient as well as an employee! I'm writing this review as an employee! Tidewater Dental is one of the most professional places I have ever worked for in my years of any employment and although I'm not too old LOL I'm hitting 40 this year and not ashamed to admit it. I have been an extremely happy employee for 3 years this month. Management and Co-workers have treated me with such respect. To be honest, I use to think if I had an issue whether it be at home or wherever that it would be in my best interest to just up and leave an employer. Tidewater showed me there are other options to choose from. Tidewater has been there for me through my ups and downs! I will not hesitate to put this out there. I have had health issues and my children have needed more of my attention and instead of just letting me go Tidewater did not hesitate to work with me. After all that's said and done when I started out as a front desk coordinator they have even furthered my career opportunity and now I'm a Office Manager. Management shows there pride in not only their customers but, also their employees. They are a wonderful company to work for and, if you are willing to show them the respect then believe me, THEY WILL go above and beyond for you daily! It's the best job I could have ever applied for and been so happy that they chose me to be apart of their family (and them apart of mine). I recently started going here after I left my pediatric dentist. I needed to find a place that would do sedation because I have such severe anxiety when it comes to any kind of dental procedure. They were all extremely understanding and supportive of me. When I got my cavities filled they kept checking up on me to make sure that I wasn't in any pain and that I wasn't anxious. All the hygienists, secretaries, and assistants are very nice. I am very glad I chose this practice. read more

Did you know that when you call and reschedule 2 appointments within one year they require a credit card to be put on file to reschedule - what they call (missed appointments). I do not call cancelling and wanting to reschedule a so called " missed appointment"! This is absurd! Missed appointment is NOT calling and NOT showing up. read more

I went to Tidewater Dental for a tooth cleaning and an consultation for veneers about four months ago. The staff was very friendly, and did a great job with the cleaning. Dr. Betaharon(sp?) was also very courteous while doing the consultation. I would have given them 5 stars except for the fact that when my treatment plan was supposed to be submitted to my insurance company, the woman who was supposed to do that (apparently she works at the larger office) just decided not to submit it because she didn't think my insurance would cover it. I was never notified of this by anyone until I called about 3 weeks later to ask if they had heard anything. I was then told what happened, and was told that they re-submitted it and put a rush order on it. I was told that it would only take about 5 days, and they apologized for the inconvenience. Well, I just called yesterday and spoke to the receptionist(who is very friendly, by the way...this is nothing against her), and she said she would call and ask what happened to my treatment plan and would call me right back. Well I have been waiting over 30 hours for a return call and have not recieved one. I will be taking my business and money elsewhere. I'm sorry, but perhaps the woman in charge of submitting my treatment plan didn't consider that I might be willing to pay for the procedure out of pocket? That is several thousand dollars worth of business that they just lost. read more

I had some dental work done, fillings, exrays, and cleaning done about two months ago. Like one of the other reviews, The billing department is extremely unorganized and cannot seam to figure out how to use insurance. They send you letters requesting a call, but when you can call back, numerous times, if they are not in the office, they will never respond to your messages. My experience with the actual work was not bad but nothing to get excited over. I would give the work a 5 out of a 10. read more

Made an appointment for my 3 kids for cleanings only and was quoted a price of $216. My mother-in-law took them to the appointment. Tidewater also did x-rays, exam & fluoride without asking if I wanted it done, appointment ended up being $600!! They totally took advantage of my mother-in-law!! If given the opportunity I would have given them a minus star! I went to see them on June 30th, 2017 because I am in need of dire dental care. After receiving the consultation I was told because of my medical condition that I needed for my physician to fill out the paper work giving them permission to perform the dental work. I went straight to my Physician and he signed off on the papers, in the meanwhile I was told my paper work was being submitted to my dental insurance company and that I would receive a call back within three days. Never heard a single word. I called and was told the person handling my case was out of the office there was a death in the family. Then I waited an additional week and was told the same person was now out on vacation. I left messages, in the meanwhile a message was left on my answering machine by another employee stating that now I must ask my physician if I need pre-medication prior to the dental work. I called my physicians office and his Nurse checked with him and he stated no I did not need pre-meds. I called Tidewater dental back and asked for the individual that left me the message (Keep in mind I was having severe dental issues that needed to be addressed immediately!) I was told she is OUT OF THE OFFICE as well on vacation! By now we are going on the end part of July! August rolls around and I call again only to leave a message for this Jill person she never returned my call I called again the following Friday and finally reached her explained that number one Jennifer was supposed to have submitted my paper work. Lo and Behold I was informed that Jennifer no longer works there and my paper work was never submitted!!!! Then this Jill person was haughty as all get out to me and said well you NEED THAT IN WRITING from your doctor about not needing pre-meds!!!! By then I was livid this is the same JILL that left the message to ASK MY DOCTOR not have my DOCTOR write another note since that could have been accomplished the first time when they made me have him fill out the permission to proceed paper! On top of that I was informed that my paper work was never submitted! I feel that the admin staff NEEDS some serious training 101. I also read on the reviews that I am not the only one this has happened to. They can kiss the thousands of dollars I was prepared to pay them goodbye because that was the last straw for me I went and picked up my paper work and x-rays and went else where and I am glad I did because a lesson was learned to always get a second opinion on serious medical or dental issues. What was purposed by the dentist within this group insisting there were no other options available to me ended up being not truthful and the estimated cost provided after my consultation was almost three times the amount of another very large dental group who are professional, kind, caring and did not treat me like I was just part of a herd of cattle!!! Tidewater dental is a JOKE!!! If you need dental work done do NOT go there. Korrie the receptionist is VERY VERY RUDE!! I went for my routine cleaning with the conclusion I needed a filling. Scheduled my filling, had the procedure done. After the filling I had swelling and bleeding for 5 days. I knew this wasnt noraml for a filling and scheduled a visit to see why I was having these symptoms. The dentist proceeds to tell me the metal bracket they placed on my tooth cause irritation and bleeding, but the swelling he was not sure. They took another xray , and the conclusion was that the tooth by the one he put the filling in is now cracked! This was never diagnosed before during my inital visit or during the time I got my filling done. Now Korie says it's going to cost me $750.00 after my insurance for a crown!! umm... hello, they cracked my tooth!!! Is this place crazy! I was going back and fourth for a while, decied to give up, suck up the pain, swelling and bleeding and get a lawyer! Needless its pathetic! I have gone to that dentist office for 3 years then they make a mistake and expect the patient to pay for their carelessness! I do not think so! Do NOT go there or take your children! read more

I thought I would share a situation to warn potential patients seeking dental assistance at Tidewater Dental in Prince Frederick. The care offered by the dentistry staff was excellent however the Manager, Korie leaves a terrible taste in anyone's mouth. I was a patient and was overbilled by $169.00 in Oct 2014 a fact I was NOT made aware of. After this I had procedures done that were covered by my insurance up until June 2015 when my benefits were exhausted. Instead of informing me of my credit balance they deducted a $39.00 charge from my credit. In Aug 2015 I referred my mother there and received a $25.00 referral credit. Now in my eyes, if I had been refunded my $169.00 I would have had to pay $39.00 and the $25.00 credit for referral could have been credited leaving me actually owing $14.00. So now I discovered all of this out they will only pay out the $130.00 having deducted the $39.00 and will leave the $25.00 on my account for the future. After explaining to Korie my math, how I was over billed $169.00 (which is not a couple of bucks) and I feel they let it drag out for almost a year in a half, Korie gets rude, short and hangs up on me. Nice. They never even let me know they owed me any money, I happened to go there to get my files for my new dentist and stumbled across this! What a crook and to hang up on someone you have already screwed. Beware and check other local Facebook groups, plenty of similar stories. read more
