My problem is with the diagnosis, and subsequent diagnosis, ultimately leading me to remove my truck and have it repaired else where. My problem was with the DPF, complete with codes. The codes were read and according to the shop liaison, that's what they fixed both times. Check engine light returned twice after leaving the shop. Each time requiring a new diagnostic charge @ around $400. Each time none the prior work was covered under warranty. It seemed to me that the diag fee was more important to the shop than actually fixing my truck. Last and final time before removing my truck was more of the same, with an issue that could've been pinpointed a lot earlier and saved me time and money. I ended up spending over $9000 there only to have to leave and get the actual repairs done elsewhere. * Full disclosure, a separate issue (water pump) was responsible for about a third of the $9k plus.

And the truck is still broken down with bad batteries and bad fuel. Look at bad reviews on google and I have filed a complaint with BBB. However, the last time we took our truck to him for DEF issues the side of the truck melted where he was repairing it and we didn't hear anything from him besides the truck being finished and to come pick it up. Upon arriving and seeing the damage I was immediately confused as to why we hadn't received any type of communication on the truck being damaged during repairs. Of course, Randy was not there when we picked it up and his other mechanic lacked any type of customer service skills. I wanted to speak to Randy and he wouldn't call him, so we left and I kept trying to call him over the next couple of days. Finally got hold of him and he said that he would look for the fairing and repair it himself. A week passed and i heard nothing from him. Called him again, he said he was waiting for someone to call him back to give him a price. After that.. I never heard from Randy again. So after all of this, I wouldn't recommend him because if something goes wrong he is not going to rectify the issue like a good business owner would. He won't answer the phone for my insurance company, and now we have to go through small claims court. Just such a hassle when I thought he was a reputable mechanic and business owner.

I took my car into to have a wheel stud replaced. Peter, the owner called me and let me know that…read morethe job was not as straight forward as anticipated. I told Peter to proceed with the work. Upon picking up my car I noticed that the ABS light and the ESC light were both on. I immediately took my car to Peter and told him about the issue. Peter connected his diagnostic tool to my car and said that his computer showed that there was nothing wrong with my car. I told him that there was obviously something wrong as the warning lights were not on before I took my car to him. Peter said that I should take my car to the dealership, which I did. Peter also stated that he could've damaged something on my car when cutting off the stripped wheel stud. The dealer called me and said that the rear driver's side wheel had a bad wheel sensor. I got a price of $525.00 to do the repair. I called Peter and gave him this information and he stated that he could do the work for half the price. I respectfully declined his offer to work on my car and I told him that I would not be bringing any of our vehicles to him for any reason. I asked Peter was he willing to help with the repair cost. He stated that he knew that he damaged my vehicle but that he would not help with any of the repair cost. I had the repair done and asked the folks at the dealership did they find any specific damage. The service writer told me that the left driver's side wheel sensor was cracked. This is the same wheel that Peter of PTL worked on. The service writer also notated this specific damage on my invoice. I forgive Peter for refusing to do the right thing, but I CANNOT under any circumstances recommend PTL Auto and Peter to do any work for anyone. Please beware.
