Take 5 Oil Change on Mercury Boulevard in Hampton is a really convenient spot. The guys there are friendly and make you feel welcome, but just know they are definitely sales-driven. They'll try to talk you into extras like windshield wipers, a better oil filter, cabin filters, or even an A/C fluid change. Honestly though, that's their job, and they do it well. They offer you water while you wait, which is nice, but sometimes the wait can get a little long if they're busy upselling other customers. For me, the price ended up being higher than going to my dealership, but I was way overdue and needed it done right away, so I went with it. I've been here more than once and every time has been a good experience overall. If you need an oil change and want something quick and convenient, I'd definitely suggest giving them a try. read more

I have a BMW X7 and I usually just go to the dealership, but I had to find a place before we got back on the road. The gentleman working here were very knowledgeable and had great customer service. I stopped here because of the location and "speedy" service. I am hoping this was just an off day because it was not a pleasant experience. There were two techs , which one did not seem to know how to do anything. Ron was doing great and trying to get cars done in a timely fashion. The wait was about an hour and several cars left because of the wait time. Once I made it into the bay two other techs were on site but they did not appear to be on the clock. Things were good until they offered a recommended service, a coolant exchange because of my mileage/maintenance schedule. I left with my car overheating just 2 minutes down the road. Not only that but I had lost my cabin heat during a winter storm! A second technician says, the first guy was new and didn't perform it properly and after 3 total coolant flushes, could not get my heat to come back. I then had to schedule an appointment at the dealership for evaluation. The conclusion was improper coolant flush procedure which cause a "massive" (Fords terminology" air bubble in my system causing both loss of heat and overheating. Once I paid DOUBLE for repairs at the dealership, I entered a service claim with Take 5 corporate, and they denied it saying I didn't follow the maintenance schedule which caused the failures, however both Chat GPT and Ford Service say this is not the case and was due to NEGLIGENT/IMPROPER Service Procedures. I even have a recoded audio with the District Manager saying they are told to do these services a certain way. Basically, NOT OEM procedures. My Recommendations, if you have a beater car use them, if you value your money and vehicle DO NOT USE TAKE 5!! On top of all that... Corporate and the District manager were RUDE as heck!! I have been taking my Fiat 500 to this location every 10k miles as recommended since they opened. Today I went in and as I waited in line I was approached and informed they do not service Fiats. I was confused and explained I had been coming here and had my car serviced multiple times at this location. The technician explained it takes too long to service Fiats and they are on the "Do Not Service" List, he offered to show me the list and I said it wasn't necessary but I asked if I could just get a copy of my previous service history so I could bring that information somewhere else to have my vehicle serviced. The tech sent the manager over and he repeated that they do not service Fiats. I said I understood and asked again if they could just print my previous service history so I can take it somewhere else to be serviced. This place was convenient and fast. I'm disappointed they decided not to service my vehicle, but I would still recommend it to others. 3 stars because I got the text message reminder that I was due for an oil change. Maybe there should have been an effort to search their records and remove Fiat and other Do No Service vehicle owners from their list; or at least a message sent that stated they no longer service Fiats instead of inviting me to return. I had to update my rating! I've been going to Take5 at 1029 Mercury Blvd.for at least three years now. In the past, I've received great service. On April 5, 2025, I went for my normal oil change and air filter change, and after paying, my truck wouldn't start. Long story short, I left Take5 without my vehicle because they drained all of the transmission fluid out of my truck by mistake. It's May 18, 2025 and I still have not gotten my truck back. Now Take5 is attempting to blame the damage on the tow truck company that they called to tow my vehicle to a mechanic. They're literally giving me the runaround and not answering my calls anymore. I had to report them to BBB and FTC. Now they're under investigation! read more

This place has a long way to go. This place just recently opened and it saddens me that it is not a place the promotes something positive in the community; its just another business that is out to get your money with sub-par service and overpriced products. These drive up oil change places are popping up everywhere. They strive on changing your oil without having to leave your car. Valvoline is leading in this and are doing very well in my humble opinion. But this place is no Valvoline. Now I understand that when a business first opens, service my be "so-so" and not up to par yet. But for this place they need to go back to the drawing board. I arrived and pulled up behind a bay. After waiting about 5 minutes, an oil-change tech came out with a bottle of water for me while I wait. I did not drink the water because the tech had obviously been changing oil. Did not look too appealing to be serving you something to drink. He looked like he been changing oil. Uniform did not look professional, shirt was not tucked in, pants and shirt where stained with oil and I can't imagine what his hands looked like. Don't serve me anything to drink or eat looking like this. He told me they were finishing up with the car in front of me and I would be next. There was a car in the bay next to me who had arrived before me. There seem to be some confusion with the service she was getting because she was on the phone talking to someone and was very upset. I discovered she was upset because the oil filter was not included in the oil change itself, a filter was an additional cost. Imagine that, an oil filter is extra for an oil change. That was a great concern for me. As I waited, I reviewed the prices; let me say this, OMG! I have never seen such an expensive price for an oil change in my entire life. When ask why the prices were so high, another tech told me "it includes the price of labor" - (BLANK STARE), not to mention it does not include the price of the filter. Requested to have my oil changed on my Mini Cooper...received my bottle of water and then went through the different types of oil changes...of course I wanted the fully synthetic 10K change...returned to have the Next oil change and the first thing I was asked was if I had ever been there before - I said yes and pointed to the sticker on the windshield...was told the Mini's are on Do No Service list...that the manager the last time was not supposed to service my car. I said okay and left...fast forward to the present...instead of putting a 17mm oil plug back in an 11/16 was installed and now I have a problem with my oil pan...the threads are striped out. I am pretty sure I will have to go to court to get them to fix the problem...I am beyond angry. read more

They broke my oil change tube. I went to the store over a month ago. I have called twice and was promised a called back from the manager which I have not received. I havent been able to get my oil change because of this incident. They took down all my information and assure me they will fix it or find a shop who could. As I said, it has been over a month and they have not called me back. They have chosen to ignore me and not fix the problem they have created me. I have only brought my car to take 5 since I bought it. I would never go back to this business. Horrible customer service not to say not customer service at all. I absolutely love this particular Take 5 location. They always take care of me and are so nice and sweet. I know a little about cars, but they make sure to explain everything to me and let me know what's best for my car. I've been here a few times and I'll definitely keep coming back. I think the best thing for me is honestly the quickness and being able to stay in my car. The guys who work here are always really nice, great company and they make me laugh. For me being a woman and being by myself coming here makes me feel safe. I know that they are going to make sure that I know everything that needs to get done if needed at that moment and I know they aren't going to cheat me like some places do just because they want my money. I've been taking my car to this place for quite a while now I just recently found out that not all take five oil change places check your power steering fluid which that might be my bad I should've asked but I just kind of assumed however one thing that really irks me is after I've been taking my vehicle there for the past two years I also recently found out that The sticker they give you when you get a synthetic oil change is supposed to be a reminder to come in for a free top off I've been taking it in every 3000 miles not knowing that I was just supposed to be getting a top off at that point so they've been gladly taking my money and not once has anyone suggested oh do you just need a top off even though they obviously have my records and the sticker indicates that I'm coming in every 3000 miles like I thought I was supposed to be doing... now I know some of you might be thinking well you should know that but let's be real here I know nothing about vehicles other than basic basic stuff and I can assure you that there are mini mini more like me I am pretty sure that this is some thing that take five should be sharing with you at each oil change... like oh I see that you came in for an oil change at such and such date did you know that since you got synthetic you don't need to technically get another oil change for another 2000 miles??? After almost 3 months and nearly $10,000k in repairs, I finally got my car back. In April I took my car to Take 5 and they never put the drain plug back in. After about 10 minutes my car was completely deprived of oil and my engine seized. At first customer service sent out a tech and were communicating with us. After about 2 weeks they stopped answering our phone calls. I retained a lawyer and even her letters went unanswered. I have the 3 opinions of 3 different mechanics that all point the finger to Take 5 being completely negligent and responsible for damages sustained to my car. My 2017 Hyundai Tucson had 50,000 miles on it and was in complete working order before Take 5 touched it. Take 5 even reported that I had no leaks or cracks. Accountability is a big piece for running any business and being honest and trustworthy is paramount, neither of which Take 5 is, in my books. Every review I have left Take 5 comments with their email and phone number asking me to contact them. Every time I do, I get ignored. See you in court. read more

I took my car in to the Take 5 Oil Change located at 1029 Mercury Blvd. in Hampton Va on 04 February 2021. After removing my engine cover the tech, informed me that one of the clips was broken on the cover. I told her that I was aware and that it was only one clip and I hadn't had any problems with it. I told her that it has been broken for about 2 years now and I've been getting oil changes with no problem with it. The next day I was driving on the Monitor Merrimac Bridge when I started losing control of the vehicle as it became difficult to steer; I felt something scraping underneath my truck and I heard this loud scraping sound. I slowed down and when I looked in the rearview mirror, I saw something fly out from under my vehicle causing the car behind me to swerve. I found out later when I got home that it was the engine cover that had flown off. This all took place on the bridge which made it even more dangerous and stressful. A week prior, I had my transmission rebuilt. Of course, they removed the cover and pretty much everything else to get remove and resinstall the transmission. With such major work, I wanted to make sure that the truck was running okay so I had taken my vehicle onto the freeway several occasions, testing out the repair. I had no issues with the engine cover because the transmission shop made sure they replaced it securely and properly. During the oil change, the cover was not replaced properly as one broken clip would not cause the whole cover to fly off while driving. I went to the shop the following Monday and spoke with [name], not sure if the spelling is correct. I explained to her what I experienced. She apologized and said she would order a cover and would call me when it came in. Later in the week she left me a message stating that her manager said she could not order it because they were not responsible for it. I asked her if I could speak with the manager and she said he would call me back. The cover obviously did not replaced because one clip would not cause the whole cover to fly off. On 19 February, when I took my car into the dealer to get a price quote on the engine cover, I was told that I have an oil leak. This wasn't noticed during the oil change? It's pointless to tout "Fastest Oil Change on the Planet!" when your service is about the worst on the planet. I see why the F rating on BBB. read more

This was my first time trying out Take 5 and I will be going back. I pulled up close to 4pm on a Wednesday evening and had no wait, pulled right in and took care of everything I needed to. The techs were awesome and able to answer all the questions and concerns I had. They even brought some things to my attention that other service centers didn't feel needed mentioning. If I could give them negative stars I would because 1 seems generous. On April 12 I brought my car in for a routine oil change. My oil was changed and I got the all clear and it was noted on my receipt no leaks, cracks and oil was at a clean safe level. On April 27 I heard knocking coming from my engine block. Checked the oil. It was low. Took it back to Take 5 and explained what I heard. They inspected my car, found no leaks or cracks and topped off my oil to a safe clean level. Within 10 minutes of leaving my car was shaking and rattling horribly. I ended up breaking down on the interstate. I had my car towed to my mechanic and upon his inspection noted my engine was completely seized up and I had NO oil in my car. Not sure what they did but clearly it wasn't an oil change!! Take 5 completely ruined my new (to me car) I just bought my car 8 months ago. My 2017 Hyundai Tucson has less than 60,000 miles on it but now needs a new engine!!! Dissatisfied doesn't even touch how I feel about this establishment!! When all you do is oil changes HOW do you manage mess that up! You all had one job and completely dropped the ball! read more

Quick, efficient and the guys doing the oil change did a fantastic job. My car takes premium synthetic oil that they had. Good price for the oil change too.
