I went to Tiger dumplings on a Sunday night with a friend to check out the hype. I have to say the ambience and aesthetic of the place is very charming, and makes for a really nice date night or friends night out setting. Overall, I would give the food of 4 1/2 half out of five, but because of the excellent service and ambience I am giving the rating of five out of five. I had the soup dumplings which I definitely recommend eating slowly as a reserved, hot and fresh. Though overall good I thought the soup dumplings could use a little bit more flavor. The Dandan noodles were really amazing and I definitely recommend, but it is a small portion and only fit for one person. I would definitely come back and try more of their dumplings. We stopped by with a reservation for 6 on a Friday night. We were seated in one of the cozy back rooms since we had a larger party and I absolutely loved the vibe! Reminded me of an old asian dining room. They did accidentally gave us another table's order twice, but they're still a little new so I imagine they're still working out some kinks. Nevertheless, the service was very attentive. Our waters were always getting refilled, and the waiters/waitresses were always coming around to check on us. The ambience of the restaurant was very upscale and the prices were honestly very reasonable. Even my frugal Chinese parents thought so! As for the location, this isn't far off of Clarendon station. We were able to find street parking easily by the apartment complex, but I think there are some garages nearby. I would recommend taking the metro if you have access to it though. We got Set A and Set B which was plenty to share between 5 people. Loved the variety and the food came out rapidly/service was speedy, but there's nothing I would go back for again. The interior and bathrooms were beautifully decorated tho. Only a few dishes stood out. The fried pork chop noodles were bouncy and the pork was juicy. The garlic fish filet and lemon shrimp were fried and crunchy, very tasty. The shape of the dumplings was fun because it came out as a circle but broke up into rectangular, crispy dumplings and the skin was not too thick. The braised duck was nice and tender. Honestly shocked with how good it was. The flavors of the soup and those spicy wontons had so much flavor to them. The spicy sauce that the wontons were in were so good I would go back just to eat them specifically. We loved the wide assortment of dumplings. Went for dinner and was very disappointed. One dish came out super early and then another came out super late -- both were mine, so I never ate with everyone else. BEWARE of the Sea Salt Garlic Fish Fillet as the sodium content is off the charts and it was almost inedible. I had to drink so much water to compensate. The signature pot stickers were disappointing too, so my meal was a "D". Of the items I sampled from others, I only liked the Shrimp Celery Dumplings and the scallion pancakes (but they needed the sauce). Otherwise not worth it. Again, too heavy on the sodium (and I like sodium)! It's like they pour on the sodium to cover for a general lack of flavor. Won't be back. read more

Overall this was pretty solid. Not too far from all the major DC attractions. The decor and vibe was on point. I enjoyed the chili oil wontons the best. The pork chop noodle was pretty good as well. Great flavor on the noodles and the pork chop was really crispy. I didn't love the lamb and carrot dumplings. The Shanghai soup dumplings we're ok but I would skip them next time and go with something else. I had a peach party drink which was cute and sweet. We got the signature tiger dumplings, chicken and shiitake dumplings, pork corn dumplings, Beijing noodles, and spicy sesame cold noodles. Their dumplings are probably the best dumplings I've ever had. The signature dumplings that have shrimp and pork were everybody's favorite. The spicy sesame noodles were also a favorite. I told the waiter that my kid bit into something hard in their dumplings and showed it to him. I asked him what it was, and he said he'd ask the kitchen, but he never came back with an answer. Their soup dumplings taste great, but the skin is delicate and tends to rip easily--once you pick one up, it can open up and let out all the flavorful soup, which takes away from the good experience. The best new spot I've tried in a while, Tiger dumplings has A+ service with A+ food to match. We came in for a mid day lunch and were happy to see how busy it was. It's always nice to see a new spot fill up. We got sat quickly and looked over the menu;most of it is tapas style and we ordered the green tea for two, the scallion pancake, the hot chili peanut noodles, and the tiger dumplings. Everything came out fairly quick and was incredible, even the simple things like the scallion pancake was light and tasty. The dumplings were so light yet with a good amount of meat inside. The noodles were our favorite item and it appeared a lot of people in the restaurant ordered the same. We ended our meal with the Seasame balls which may have been my favorite dessert I had in 2023. Service was top notch, with plates being bussed quickly, tea refilled often, water always topped off and our bill coming promptly. Tiger dumpling is great! I went with a friend and we ordered scallion pancakes, cucumber salad, the signature tiger dumplings, and the Dan Dan noodles. The star of the show was the Dan Dan noddles by faaarrr. The noodles are nice and chewy, the sauce had just enough spice, and the minced meat in the dish was delicious. I can only say *chefs kiss*. The scallion pancakes were nice and crispy. They can with a sweet chili sauce that was good. The tiger dumplings were good, although I was expecting more from their signature dumplings. I wished they were a bit more juicy but still good! I dipped them in my Dan Dan noodle sauce, instead of soy sauce, which I now believe is the superior way to eat them HAHA (Tiger Dumplings, let me know if you would like to collaborate on this). The only part of the meal I wasn't impressed by was the cucumber salad. It was just... there. Not bad or anything but okay. Checked this place out my first night visiting home for the holidays. It's to the right of O'reillys facing North Side. Fair warning they do not serve alcohol yet! They just open a month ago so my expectations were low but was pleasantly surprised! Very friendly staff, beautiful decor, food came out promptly. Overall the food was good! We ordered the tiger/wagyu dumplings, chicken shitaake dumplings, cucumber salad and hot peanut oil noodles. I did feel the noodles were a bit dry. Salad was refreshing. Dessert was very delicious I really enjoyed the black sesame balls with the peach ice cream. 2 opportunities for improvement: include descriptions on menu items for those not familiar with this cuisine. A bit torn on this place. Great location. Close by to everything. It's quite peaceful here. The interior is amazing. It's new and clean and the design choices are unique. It is definitely a great date spot during the day and during the night. The presentation of the food is immaculate and the lighting definitely brings out the colors in each dish. The service was getting their bearings in place and they were nice and attentive. The fall of this place is the food. It's more Americanized than I thought it would be. For example, the hot and sour soup was more sweet than spicy and a hint of sourness. The dumplings do not appear to be hand wrapped and the taste was dimmed. The chili oil on the table also did not add much spiciness or mala when added. A lot of the flavors are dim, but if you're coming here for lunch and a bite before going back to the office, I do see the benefit of the dimmer choice. Or if you're on a date, it's probably better not to be sweating profusely from the spiciness or having your breath smell like garlic. However, the food does make you yearn for a bit more. I'm a dumpling addict so I was super excited to check out this place! Sadly, I left very disappointed. They were out of the Tiger Soup Dumplings so we opted to try the spicy pork soup dumplings and chicken soup dumplings. Both were just okay. The Tiger signature dumplings was the only noteworthy dish. The sesame dessert was also unremarkable. The most disappointing moment was when the server brought over the Thai iced tea I ordered. When I saw that it was green, I asked him why that was (since it's general knowledge that Thai iced tea is normally a red-orange color). He simply responded, "This is the Thai iced tea" and walked away without further explanation. Was it green tea? Pandan tea? I still don't know! Incredible. Just what was missing from the area for easy dining and takeout! Came as a group of 4 and tried a lot of different things. My favorites were the Dan Dan noodles (incredible), the Shanghai soup dumplings (so flavorful and filled with soup), and the chili oil wontons (could have been a little spicier). We also got the chicken mushroom dumplings which were good and the Tiger signature dumplings (pork and shrimp?). Our only complaint would be nothing had descriptions underneath so we didn't know what was in the Tiger signature for example. The owner was incredibly kind and everyone working there was very nice. The dumplings lacked flavor so I wouldn't say this is a good place for vegetarian dumplings as I've had much better ones across the DC area. This was a fabulous lunch today from start to finish! The decor is really lovely! Very crowded but not really noisy or too warm inside at all- and even though it was absolutely packed on a holiday Monday for lunch, there was a waitlist online that we joined about 35 minutes in advance while picking up our daughter from the airport- it was so easy because we could see exactly where we were in line and how long was left (it's only 10 minutes from DCA). We had a lovely waitress who was very efficient and our food came out very quickly and piping hot. We ordered (3 of us): scallion pancake, pork & chive dumplings, pan fried sweet corn and pork gyoza, chicken soup dumplings, and cucumber salad. Everything was 10/10 and honestly it was the best cucumber salad we've ever tasted. I had the house made pineapple beer and it was really good! Sweeter and refreshing.
