First time checking out Tiger Sugar! Had to see what the hype was all about. I went on a Saturday afternoon. Not packed, but still busy. I love my basic strawberry banana smoothie but not very big on sweets. Was a little nervous because all the brown sugar drinks I've had before were always TOO sweet. I ordered their signature #1 drink, "Black sugar boba + pearl milk with cream mousse" at the kiosk. Didn't have the option to adjust the sweetness and ice level but it was actually perfect. Not too sweet and just right. They also had two different sizes of tapioca pearls. It was different. I don't know how I feel about the small pearls.. Waited about 15 minutes to get our drinks. It was taking some time so I asked to check if my drink was out when people who ordered after us got their drinks. Got the confirmation text when we left . It's a pretty small area where you can pick up and go. No seatings to sit and chat. I'd go back if I'm in the area and it's not busy. read more

Have tried Tiger Sugar three times now, once during opening week, opening month, and a long while later.. and for some reason each time I got a different drink and they all tasted of coffee. Not sure if my order was made wrong (tasted decent still, even though I am not a fan of coffee) or what but still was a surprise each time. Always a long wait (20+ minutes), but it is worth the wait. Their boba is consistently great. You cannot customize sweetness or ice level. I usually get 50% sweetness at other boba places and Tiger Sugar drinks are a good level of sweetness. They also have lactose-free milk and soy milk and they don't charge extra for it. read more

Solid place for boba! I don't usually crave boba and haven't had it in years. I had the brown sugar boba sub with oat milk, no whip, and it was great! I liked the options and being able to take my time and order at the computer. I liked the tapioca, nice consistency and fun to chew. Tiger Sugar will always be my go to place for brown sugar milk ever since I discovered it in NYC. I'm so happy they finally opened in Chicago cause I've been waiting years for it! This place is definitely worth the hype because of how well the brown sugar mixes in with the milk and I have yet to discover another place that can live up to the standard at Tiger Sugar. The reason I'm not giving Tiger Sugar 5 stars is because it seems like they stopped using lactaid milk which usually helps a bit more with the sweetness and smoothness. No. 1 Brave as tiger is good. It has great boba and rich milk/cream. The tea flavor is on the mild side though and the sugar level cannot be adjusted. You need to ordering on the kiosk and there was about 8 people before me on a Saturday. The service was good, they kindly remind me to shake the drink before drinking. read more

Look. There are a bajillion boba places in this little chinatown strip. Why would you come here instead of joy yee? uni uni? te amo? kung fu (lets be real, go anywhere BUT here)? Well they do the tiger sugar right. Their mango sago is legit. It's all around a good boba tea. HOWEVER!!!! I will say a few things 1. It is a lot of hype. The boba doesn't taste as good as uni uni. The tea isn't as good as te amo or hello jasmine. It's just hype 2. The line is TOO LONG. Much too long for this to be 5 stars. All in all, the lines being too long, the boba being just okay boba, the tea tasting just okay, its not as good as what I had in Hong Kong and hope that they do get better. I got the signature brown sugar milk with boba. It's basically whole milk with brown sugar syrup and boba. Very very tasty, but a bit different from your typical milk tea. The boba has a great texture, and the brown sugar flavor is rich and sweet. A bit expensive, but would get again. read more

I got the lychee crystal boba black tea. This is probably my favorite non-milk drink there. Love the crystal boba!! If you're ordering in person expect to wait greater 20 min for your drink on Saturday's. They get real busy. read more

My partner and I popped in here this evening finally. It's a new location in Chicago's Chinatown. We've been to Tiger Sugar in Toronto, and it was a great experience for not only bubble tea but they also sold their popcorn at the Toronto location. We both breathed through that popcorn, and we came by to see if the Chicago store has the set up. I think that because they're still so new, they don't have everything yet, and we were just at Hello Jasmine so I didn't end up ordering anything. They do have 2 stations where you can walk in and order contactless at the kiosk, and they also take orders at the counter. The set up does look like the shop in Toronto but bigger. I'll give it another go in a few months to see if they'll eventually have the popcorn, and it'd be great to get it here. However it's probably a good thing there isn't any because it's dangerously addicting. It's sweet and savory. I'll be back to see how the quality of the drinks compare to the one in Toronto. I do recommend checking this place out, it's a pretty popular chain that specializes in Brown Sugar drinks, and the brand is iconic you can't miss it. It's located in Chinatown Square. There's ample free parking in the lot, but it's first come first serve, and conveniently located by the Red Line. read more

You get a text message notification when they receive your order and when it's ready. Got their popular brown sugar milk with boba + pearl. Interesting that their boba comes in 2 different sizes. A bit disappointing that you can't adjust sweetness and ice level. I found the brown sugar a bit too sweet in the beginning but towards the end when the ice started to melt and mix to be better. I've been hearing good things about this place so I finally tried it and I definitely prefer the tea based boba drink than milk based boba drink. Tiger sugar signature drink was ok but tasted more like malt chocolate drink rather than boba drink. My husband got the black milk tea and that was much better. It maybe just personal preference. There's less options compared to some of the other tea places so if you're lonely looking for brown sugar boba this will be a good option but if you want more varieties there are better options in Chinatown in my opinion. read more

I'm pretty sure this tiger sugar is new because they didn't have things running very smoothly. We waited for an hour and a half to get three drinks. They lost a bunch of people's orders too. They forgot to put ice in our drinks so they were luke warm. The boba was good but not great as with the tea. I was really excited to try tiger sugar after hearing about it from others but I was really disappointed. If I were to go back, I would wait a couple months or go to another location.
