I got the #1 signature (brown sugar boba milk with pearls and cream mousse). Even for brown sugar milk, it was a little too sweet, so I would definitely recommend getting 30% or 50% sweetness. They were generous with the boba given, and it was a mix of normal-sized and mini pearls. Difficult to find parking, as it is street parking! There is also no seating, so it is a grab-and-go sort of establishment. read more

Tiger sugar is my favorite black sugar bubble tea place. I went to NYC multiple time before the store in Philly was opened just to get my craving fixed. I always order number 1 and 2. In general, I think they do a decent job making the drinks. However, the bubbles made in Philly store were not that soft and chewy compared to the ones in NYC. Sometimes the drinks I ordered lacked the rich and creamy flavors, which I missed from the drinks in NYC. However, I don't want to complain much since to be fair, the store in Philly do a decent job. I would recommend you to taste your drinks right after you step out the store because they won't keep the fresh and good flavor if you wait too long. read more

Despite no mods are allowed, the service was fast and the tea was DELICIOUS. I guess they know they have the formula down pat and changing it would detract from the product. I can respect that. I love how there are so many caffeine free drinks to choose from. The boba was the perfect texture as well, which isn't always a sure thing at boba shops. read more

With a Tiger Sugar finally opening up in Philly, I decided to see if it was worth the hype. So far,I've gone a couple of times and got the iconic black sugar boba and then the golden oolong tea with boba. Of course, you can't adjust the sweetness of the black sugar drinks, but it was surprisingly not terribly sweet! Definitely a lot sweeter than I typically get, but I think the milk helps prevent the drink from becoming to cloying - definitely a good drink if you just want to indulge and have something rich. The golden oolong had a nice tea flavor and didn't taste watered down at all - even at 50% sugar, it was a touch sweet for me with the boba, so I'll probably try cutting down next time. The boba itself in both drinks were nice, fresh, soft, and chewy. Admittedly, even though the drinks I've had were great, they are pretty expensive (basically $7 after tax and tip). This will probably be relegated to a treat yourself type of occasion vs a spot I'll regularly visit. Either way, definitely a must try if you haven't already! read more

It's pretty good ngl but watching the barista make my drink made me realize that my drink was 80% ice.. which became more evident when I finished my drink in 5 mins since leaving Chinatown. The boba is soft and chewy, and the drink does taste good. But keep in mind, it's mainly all whole milk and sugar, there is no room for adjustments. I went because Tiger Sugar is all the rage right now but I might just stick to my good old fashioned milk tea in the future. read more

I've been to Tiger Sugar in NYC and it tastes just as great. I came here on a Monday afternoon so there were no line and the wait was quick. I ordered #1, which is their best seller. It's a nice drink to have once in awhile and I can see how this would be addicting. The staff were super friendly. I actually had this as an ice cream before I got a chance to try the drink. To my surprise, it taste the same despite the different medium. And to be perfectly honest, I prefer the ice cream better. Got their #1 and #2, none of these are customizable. The only difference between #1 and #2 is that 2 has jellies as well as pearls/boba. The jellies were just whatever. In fact they were quite similar to the pearls with a slightly different texture. Personally I prefer pearls more. The drinks are definitely creamier and sweeter than most. If you don't like sweetness in regular boba and prefer fruity teas, then I would definitely pass. On the other hand, if you have a sweet tooth then this might be up your alley. I heard about their new opening and I was super excited to try it out! I got there on a Saturday afternoon and the line was fast. After ordering my drink, I only waited about 3 minutes for my boba. I ordered the #1 Black Sugar Boba + Pearl Milk with Cream Mousse. It was definitely a pretty cup of boba with the syrup striped on the sides of the cup. Remember to shake the drink before you drink it! The milk tea was definitely a hit! One of my faves from now on :) I loved how the pearls were also small, which made it more fun to eat. The total price for one cup was six dollars with tax, which is definitely a hefty price. Only thing is you cannot change the sweetness level or ice level. And there is also only one size. read more

Holy cow that was delicious! I ordered the #2 and just everything about it was amazing. Make sure you shake it 15 times to mix up the sugar well. It was perfectly sweet to my liking and not overly milky. Perfectly balanced milk tea drink with a toffee like taste and the boba was one of the best I've ever had. If you really like milk this is the spot for you. We got the #1 and asked for a #8 but were served a #3. Both drinks tasted like milk with lots of sugar and boba in it. One was just chocolate. It takes a while to get the drinks and it gets crowded inside with people waiting. I do recommend you try it if you like milk. Hopefully you get what you ordered! read more

Today was opening day! Got here 10 minutes before and ended up waiting almost an hour. I've been to one other Tiger Sugar location in the U.S. and felt the experience was similar. PROS: - There was someone checking temperatures at the front of the line and once you're inside staff try to keep customers distanced - Boba was cooked well CONS: - You can't adjust sugar level for signature drinks, why??? I ordered the #1 drink to share and it was fortunately not too sweet (but I like having the option to adjust) - $6 a drink is rather pricey when you have other bubble tea spots in Chinatown Overall, Tiger Sugar is worth checking out of if you desire that aesthetic Instagram post - however, I'll only stop by when there isn't a long wait. read more

Pretty good! I ordered the #2 - BS (advertised as the most popular option). Most of the drinks didn't have an option to change the sugar level which is disappointing and also unusual for a bubble tea place. I liked my drink but it was definitely much sweeter than what I prefer. My friend who ordered the brown sugar taro boba milk said it was okay - FYI it's just milk tea with boba and taro bits, NOT taro-flavored milk tea. So you couldn't order just a taro bubble tea with no taro bits (I tried). Again, kind of unusual from my experience. read more

The #1 (black sugar + pearl milk with cream mouse) was amazing! Tasted like liquid creme brûlée. The tapioca pearls come in two different sizes giving a nice texture variation and they were super soft and chewy. I was concerned that the drink was going to be too sweet since you absolutely cannot make any adjustments to the drinks but was pleasantly surprised that it was not! Milkshakes and floats are a lot sweeter in my opinion. Amazing. Their 黑糖奶茶 looks unbelievable and tastes so as well. I've had other great milk teas but this one is the most visually appealing. I wish they didn't put as much ice in it though because it would last longer though. I live 1 hour away but I would definitely make the drive just to come back to this place. read more

Tiger Sugar is a very well-known brown sugar boba franchise. If you have never tried brown sugar boba before, then you are missing out! The boba is super tender with a slight chew. The sweetness of each drink is perfect. Not too sweet. If brown sugar boba isn't your thing, then give their strawberry mochi drink a try. It is a limited-time drink, but it is delicious! I was excited to finally try Tiger Sugar after all the hype I've heard over the past few years, and it definitely met my expectations. I really liked the different sized pearls, and they were the perfect consistency. The flavors were decadent without being too sweet. We didn't have to wait too long considering how busy they were. The inside is small, so if you're with a large group, it may be best to wait outside or have just one person go in and order. It's a little expensive (~$6) but worth it in my opinion as an every now and then indulgence. read more

I went during the weekdays where it wasn't crowded, thank God for rainy days. Their drinks only have one size, I ordered a #1 which is their signature drink, you cannot adjust the sugar level on the signature drinks FYI. My friend ordered a #3, it was sweet and delicious, their pearls are very fresh. Overall, I think they did pretty good, I tried tiger sugar in Hong Kong and Singapore, and I would say it taste the same, just need less ice and it'll be perfect! read more

The first time i tried Tiger Sugar was in California so when I found out they were opening one in Philly I was super excited. The wait when I was there was around 10-15 mins, they check your temp before letting anyone go in. We got #1, it really is just like drinking a dessert. overall it was really good for times when you have those sugar cravings. One thing I would do differently next time is to get less ice. Newly opened this past week and it's already packing! Definitely a hit spot with the long lines and constant flow of people. While I do get that it has a good history of picture worthy and tasty drinks, I do think the cost to worth ratio is a bit off given that each drink is about $6. The drinks themselves were great though and there's nothing more satisfying than a chocolate infused boba. I still have yet to try their normal boba which I'd like to go back for sometime if I'm feeling like I want to splurge a bit or am grabbing drinks with friends. Both were equally good. I like sweet and so was happy with 100% sweetness for both and less ice. You can't go wrong with their classic boba milk tea either. They have a couple of tables inside for you to sit and enjoy your drink. We were there on a rainy Saturday and were the only ones inside for a while.

The wait takes about 20-30 minutes. I understand that it will take a long time since there are a lot of people and the tea is fresh.

I know Tiger Sugar is a chain, which is exactly why I came in with certain expectations. Consistency is usually one of the benefits of going to a well-known brand. Unfortunately, this visit fell pretty short. The first issue was simply trying to order. I wanted to take a look at the menu before deciding, but I couldn't find one anywhere. When I asked if there was a printed menu or something easier to browse, I was told no and was directed to the promotional images at the ordering counter. Maybe that's standard here, but it made ordering more difficult than it needed to be. The staff interaction didn't help. I tend to step aside if I need extra time to decide so I don't hold up a line, and that's exactly what I did. There wasn't anyone waiting behind me, yet I still felt rushed to order. The overall vibe was very much "order quickly and move along," which wasn't particularly welcoming. As for the drink itself, it was a mixed bag. The tea was actually quite good. Rich flavor, well-balanced sweetness, and definitely the strongest part of the experience. The mochi also tasted good flavor-wise. My issue was with the quality and quantity of the toppings. I ordered a drink with both boba and mochi, and there was surprisingly little of either. The boba barely covered the bottom of the cup, and the mochi portion felt equally skimpy. The boba itself also seemed a little old. Instead of being soft, warm, and chewy, it was firmer than I expected and had that slightly hardened texture that boba gets when it's been sitting too long. The mochi had good flavor, but it had started to clump together and coagulate by the time I was drinking it. Nothing tasted bad, but the ingredients didn't feel particularly fresh. The location itself is very small, with a narrow counter-style seating area along the front window. It's functional, but not really a place that encourages you to stay and relax. The whole experience felt geared toward ordering, grabbing your drink, and leaving. Overall, the tea itself was tasty, but between the rushed service, difficulty viewing the menu, skimpy toppings, and less-than-fresh textures, it wasn't a great experience. For $8 a cup (large skinny size), I definitely expected more. The cup was filled more than half way with ice (despite asking for less ice and being told that all drinks have standard ice) I could not taste the cheese top at all (with #1 being the selling point of boba and cheese top). The drink was no where near the hype level that I expected, the price point was way too ridiculously high (even for a boba loving SoCal girl like me), and the drink was not customizable to any extent (given that more ice filled the cup than drink). I still have mediocre stars since it was decent for the few sips we had and probably worth trying if you're trying to buy into the hype. But we probably won't be back. There's so many other places that can serve the same thing at less price point and willing to customize. read more

The service was standard, neither exceptionally good nor bad, but the staff was efficient and got the job done. However, the standout feature of Tiger Sugar is the sweetness of their drinks. If you like strawberry and toppings, get the strawberry mochi! It has this delicious soft chewy milk mochi, great strawberry flavor, and a variety of fruit jellies. As someone who usually gets 50-75% sugar, i recommend full sugar if not 125% because the milk mochi can be a little tart/sour. It's my favorite drink from Tiger Sugar and I get it all the time. Would I go back? : Yes, but only if I'm in the mood for it. Mr. Wish, which is one of my favorite bubble tea shops, is in the same plaza and I will almost always choose Mr. Wish over Gong Cha.

Went there on a Saturday with my elderly mom who has never had Boba before. The cashier was beyond…read morerude. He kept cutting us off and rushing to take our order. We were the only customers at the time so this was confusing as there was no line of people waiting. When we got our drinks it was all wrong. I think he messed it up on purpose or because he didn't take the time to clearly take our order the whole thing was so incorrect. This was a major disappointment. Very bad experience for my mom. I will not be coming back to this boba place again nor do I recommend it.

I went for the Pokémon promo and ordered the Chikorita matcha with half sugar and half ice…read more Unfortunately it got put in as half sugar only, and wow, they really do not play around with ice. The cup was basically full of ice with just a little drink and some boba at the bottom. In this weather it felt like I was mostly paying for ice instead of a drink. If they didn't hear me properly, that happens, but it was still disappointing. The matcha flavor itself was actually pretty generous and tasty. The boba portion was very sparse, though. I also noticed a sugar tax on the receipt, which I've never seen anywhere else. Not sure if I got charged extra for asking for half sugar or if that's just how this location does it. I was hoping to get some of the promo straw covers, but when I asked, the staff didn't know about the collaboration at all. It's fine if they ran out, but it seemed like they just weren't informed about it, even though I did get the promo cup. Kind of a bummer. I also wanted a macaron, but out of the 20 flavors listed, they only had three available. That really thinned out the whole experience. The staff did try their best, and the shop has lots of places to sit and a festive tree up, which was nice. But between the ice-heavy drink, promo confusion, and basically no macaron selection, I probably won't be back to this location.
