With humble beginnings in Winter Park by a college kid and a loan from his father, Tijuana Flats had become a local favorite and expanded to 123 locations in four states. 4 Stars for food, service and rewards program at this, my go-to location. A colorful interior greets you when entering this corner restaurant. The menu contains many options that can feel overwhelming. When I've asked an employee for an explanation or assistance, I've always received useful information. The good news is that pretty much everything is tasty and is of a good portion. Specials can be had through many days of the week. Most items (it seems) come with a healthy serving of tortilla chips and choice of a salsa. The "elephant in the room", so to speak here, is the self-serve kiosk full of multi-flavored and level of spicy hot salsas. From Carolina Reaper peppers to sweet and spicy, everyone's taste buds will feel the effects. I typically get two tacos with a choice of protein. Just know ahead of time that "steak" equals ground beef. Every once in a while I splurge and order the original queso. My daughter and I think it's one of the best tasting quesos around. Take advantage of the rewards program and download the app. You get a free Starter right away! MISC. The restaurant is usually pretty clean and the employees will usually come by to see if you need your soda or beverage refilled. I was a little disappointed that their menu has changed (it's been years since I had been to a Tijuana flats) but I got two tacos, chips and queso rice and beans and a coke for about 20$ The rice and beans were the worst part, not bad, just extremely plain. My friend and I went for Taco Tuesday and their Dos Tacos special - 2 tacos, chips, and a drink for $6.99. They also had a special for a small queso or guac for a good price. We were greeted ad soon as we walked in. The team was helpful, patient, and nice while we ordered. There's not a whole lot to say regarding Tijuana flats. This is a Tex-Mex style chain that is all over Central Florida. I'm not sure if they have them in different areas but there's definitely a bunch in Central Florida. We recently went here during work for lunch and that wasn't the first time we have been to this location. I'm usually a very big fan of Tijuana flats, I like the food, I know what to expect, but this past time definitely has me thinking otherwise. My first issue is that it's very difficult to find the menu online. They list the food, but you can't really see what's in it or what comes with it unless you're going to start a mobile order. We went right at the start of lunch to beat the crowds and when we walked in, we were greeted but the three people behind the counter were busy doing something else, so it took us a few minutes to order. No one really looked up. I knew exactly what I wanted, and I wanted the nachos. She asked me if I wanted to add chicken which was an extra charge, but I decided to do it. I also asked for no beans and extra cheese. Now what I got was literally some chips with shredded cheese on top. When you get nachos, you really tend to think that the cheese will be melted but that was not the case here. They definitely put the extra cheese on, but nothing was melted, it was cold shredded cheese on top of chips. The chicken I literally had to dig for it, and I only had three tiny Nuggets of chicken on the entire tray. I'm not exaggerating and paying extra for chicken and only getting 3 tiny pieces, hello rip off! I really should have complained but being with a bunch of coworkers I didn't want to make a scene. Even one of my coworkers asked if I had just ordered chips with shredded cheese on top. They also said it was supposed to come with sour cream to which I did not get that either. This was probably the worst experience I've ever had at Tijuana flats, and not because of the staff. They were fine, nothing over the top fantastic but just fine. It really was the food. I did send an e-mail later on to Tijuana Flats and I've never heard back from them. Now I don't know if it's just this location or the restaurant overall, but I will definitely think twice before I'm willing to try it again. Besides that, they also have burritos, tacos, salads, all of the typical Tex-Mex food you see and expect. What they're really known for is their hot sauce bar. They have about 15 to 20 different sauces ranging in spice level to add to your food items. All in all, it's definitely going to be a little bit until I'm willing to give them a try again. Definitely would order something different next time if I go with my coworkers. The walls are also always painted differently from location to location, its a fun environment. Stopped by for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were the first group of people into the restaurant but service was quick and friendly. The dos tacos fulfilled the taco craving and the hot sauce bar is always a favorite. My go to hot sauce, Don't be a Chicken S$$t, was put in grab/go containers which made that selection pretty easy. The restaurant did fill in closer to the 12:30 hour, but the staff were still friendly as they engaged with customers. read more

I have enjoyed Tijuana for years. The food is good, nothing amazing but you know what you are going to get and the sauce bar is the best part. I appreciate lately the menu is evolving and branching out. The 5th star for this location is due to how clean this place is/was on the day of our most recent visit and the friendliness/helpfulness of the staff. We had all three boys (it was kids eat free Sunday) and as soon as we grabbed a place to sit before getting in line to order, someone was over with crayons, grabbing a high chair for our baby and taking drink orders. I will say this 1000xs Tijuana flats is the ultimate comfort food for me. I will have this every weekend if I could. I get their chimichangas with queso and fresh jalapeños and ugh they make it so good. I don't think I have been to a friendlier Tijuana Flats! This location is one that I always forget that is there - in Altamonte along a busy part of 436. Parking is easy here with a lot next to a bank. On my last visit, I tried a burrito bowl for the first time and enjoyed it! It's basically a burrito without the wrap. I asked for blackened chicken in mine. Blackened chicken rocks at Tijuana Flats and I pretty much always order it on whatever I get. Staff were incredibly friendly here! Not the experience I expected. I dropped by to have a quick lunch with my family and was greeted with a smile and quick service on a empty afternoon. After explaining I was vegan I was told that would not be a problem to them accommodate. After receiving my meal and get home I got halfway through my burrito and noticed a few chunks of chicken, thankfully I noticed before I ate it but was super frustrated and disappointed this occurred. After calling and speaking with the restaurant they did provide a credit which is why this is not 1 star. But when I attempted to get my credit meal I was only offer a entree and not a reorder which was disappointing. 3 starts as they attempted to make it right but unfortunately this was a huge mistake and could have been serious if I was allergic to chicken. Called about 4 minutes after I realized the error and spoke with the lady to cancel my order. She stated they would cancel it and the $15.48 would not be charged onto my card. I have been watching my card and guess what charged onto my card... the $15.48 which they stated had been canceled. I called both Postmates and Ubereats and neither was worth the time I wasted on the calls. They each blamed the other. Finally called the store and spoke with D. to get this corrected and am also disputing with my bank. The error was mine but I called immediately to rectify it and then they still charge? Update: the charge has been reversed and it's back in my checking account. Am never using this service again. read more

I RARELY write bad reviews about places, and I have been to this location once before and the service and food we're decent. On that previous visit the restaurant was also clean. For this reason ONLY I gave them a 2 star rating. My boyfriend and I went to get lunch today at 1:45 and there were about ten people waiting. There were about four tables set up with drinks, but not much clear direction. We asked a gentleman in front of us if he has ordered and he said he placed an online order with a pickup time of 1:00 and he was STILL waiting. When we finally got the attention of one of the girls working there she informed us that there is a wait of 1.5 HOURS!! WHAT!? This is an insane wait to get a few tacos. My wife and I ordered tacos for pickup from here a few weeks ago and they were delicious but of course a little soggy from traveling. We stopped in this evening to eat there at the restaurant and the tacos, beef filling, my chicken burrito, queso and chips were all very delicious. Ice cold Modelo on tap was good too. Service was excellent, but we were the only patrons dining there. My only minor quibbles were my burrito was a bit overly soggy for just chicken, beans, cheese, lettuce and tomato. Also, the queso was kind of ridiculously thick, it has always been thicker than most but this was nearly solid. Anyway, we'll definitely be back here. This is my favorite Tijuana Flats location that I've been to! The food is always terrific, portions are fantastic, and the service is great! I know that there are a lot of choices of places to go in the Altamonte area, and this TF location is a little tucked away from everything, but it's worth coming to, in my opinion. It's also fun to see photos of celebrities (on the wall) that have apparently visited this location, too! Love coming here! UPDATE: I visited here again, and when going to wash my hands, found the restroom to be particularly dirty and gross. I notified one of the male staff members (with glasses), who acted strangely (like he didn't know why I was telling him, or that I making up stories) when I let him know. I am a frequent flyer at Tijuana Flats. LOVE everything about the place, the food, the service, the atmosphere - WINNING. I normally go to the location in Casselberry, but last night my husband and I stopped at the Altamonte Springs location for convenience on our way home. NEVER AGAIN. When we walked in the place was packed. Literally no open tables at all. It was like a 3 ring circus in there, kids running around, babies crying, people talking, it was nuts. Anxiety kicked into overdrive, and I was kicking myself for leaving my Xanax at home. We placed our order, but the girl behind the counter had a hard time focusing on us because of all of the background commotion, but that went both ways. I was so frazzled that I couldn't concentrate on the menu, so I ordered the first thing I saw which was the Black Bean Flautas, one of the few items on their menu I have never tried. What I MEANT to order was the black bean chimichanga which I love, but that was on me. I ordered a beer, even though I wasn't planning on drinking. Stress level at an 8 with the chaos. Finally a table opened up in the middle of the dining area just as we had finished ordering so we rushed to grab the seats. My biggest complaint - which really had absolutely NOTHING to do with the restaurant - some IGNORANT a-holes with a party of 5 adults and 8 children sat with their party separated, adults on one side of the restaurant against the wall, and the kids - all looking to be under 10 years old - sat at the complete opposite end of the restaurant by the ordering counter with no adults. The kids were screaming, running all over the restaurant, making each other eat the death face hot sauce - which made them cry - even though it CLEARLY indicates children should not be at the hot bar...it was maddening. I thought to myself, at least I have the saving grace of the never failing delicious food. WRONG. My husband's burrito was a terrible mess, it looked like they just literally threw it on the plate, it wasn't even folded, just thrown on the plate and slopped out of the kitchen. The Flautas...no bueno. This food is just a terrible concept to begin with, and to add insult to injury it was very poorly executed. Not knowing this when I ordered - a flauta is tortilla filled with stuffing, then rolled up and fried. The down fall - they give you all of the toppings (tomatoes, onions, olives, lettuce, sour cream, etc) on the side. It is very difficult to top a rolled up cylinder with toppings. Secondly - the filling was scarce. One of them only had 3 black beans inside, that was it (picture added). I didn't even finish my beer, I was so anxious to get the hell out of there. I'm a huge fan of Tijuana Flats and I'm hoping they will eventually expand to NYC. Luckily there are location in South Florida which I visit much more frequently than Orlando so I still get my fix once or twice a year. I really enjoy it because it's super fresh and simple and they have an awesome hot sauce bar. On my most recent visit I went with a blackened chicken chimichanga. It came out looking beautiful with it's green, red, and white toppings. One of my favorite things about Tijuana Flats is they they use fresh jalapenos, such a simple thing but I think it adds so much to the meal. The chimichanga was lightly fried with a nice golden color and a good crunch. The chicken tasted good and I gobbled it up. I really enjoy sampling the hot sauces so I usually grab 5 or 6 and throw them on as I eat my meal. The service at this location was alright, not the friendliest cashiers but fine otherwise. If you just want a huge burrito I would go to Chipotle, but if you're looking for something else Tijuana Flats is my choice. The Tijuana Trio is a great appetizer to split if you're going with a couple of people. read more

I love Tijuana Flatts and love their local UCF roots! They have a great menu with tacos, burritos, salads, burrito bowls, quesadillas, and beyond. Each item can be made with a choice of protein and they have two choices for beans (refried or black). I always go with tacos or the salad bowl, which are both served with a side of salty and peppery corn tortilla chips. They have plenty of topping options and you can make anything vegan by going with the beans and passing on sour cream and cheese. But if you are into cheese, please order the queso. It is nothing short of delicious. Top off your meal with a beer or a fountain drink with the most delicious crushed ice you'll ever have. For real- this ice should be famous. My favorite part of TFlatts and what makes these locations really unique the hot sauce bar. They have standard options like their "Smack my ass and call me Sally" habanero hot sauce (my personal favorite), but they always have rotating options to keep things interesting. Each hot sauce is categorized by a face which shows how HOT each sauce is. Choose wisely and if you like what you taste, they have many options available for purchase by the bottle. Stop by for a Taco Tuesday or Throwback Thursday for special food deals, but really every day is a good price. I called to tell them that they messed up and whoever answered the phone had the worst attitude. She told me that it wasn't her fault and that it's too bad! Who the hell tells a customer that it's too bad when they're the ones who messed up my order?!They need to work on their customer service because this was by far the worst location I've been to. We love Tijuana Flats, and especially Taco Tuesday deals. I have 3 sons and we can all eat meals for around $30-$36. Everyone loves the tacos and burritos. We usually get dos tacos with chicken and black beans and we love the queso! For the parents they offer beer and sangria. Lines aren't bad, but on Tuesdays it stays packed because of the Taco Tuesday deals. The kids meals are great value for the money, as they include an entree, chips, a drink, an applesauce or candy and a temporary tattoo, which my boys love. The ambiance is fun, with painted ceiling tiles. If you haven't tried the hot sauce bar, it's a MUST! Watch the face labels for the heat level. We highly recommend Tijuana Flats! read more

The banging chicken tostadas are BANGING! just the right amount of spicy hotness... I didnt even have to use the sauce i brought home. Since Tijuana Flats is a UCF graduate's endeavor - and the hot sauce is freakin' awesome - I pretty much always say yes when my fiance asks if we can go here. The one is nothing but win. I've never had to wait in lines, the service is absurdly fast, they have more hot sauces than other TF's I've been in, and it's way more spacious inside than many others. I've been to other locations in the area, but none of them are as good as this one. It wins, hands down. Terrible Impression. I walked in for Lunch. Unfortunately, the menus are located in the far right front corner of the room, making the menu stand location behind me and to the far right as soon as I walked in the door. Anyway, I didn't see them. I stood there inside the door wondering if I was to wait to be seated. The waitress came out, looked at me and said "Welcome to Tijuana Flats," then turned around and disappeared. I stood there for a minute looking dumb until I realized that the I would order at the counter in the right rear corner. So I got in line, and I noticed other customers' holding menus, but I could not find one. So, I walked back out to the middle of the restaurant and waited another minute until the waitress returned and I asked. She pointed to the right-hand corner behind me.
