My friend got a chimichanga which was loaded and definitely the best bang for your buck if you're ordering from Tijuana Flats. The service was fast and easy very simple not a lot of people at the location at the time. What I ordered was a little bit underwhelming, and that the tacos were the size of my palm and there wasn't anything loaded in it. Just not a fan of this place. First off, it's one of those places that asks you for a tip ahead of time...even though you order at a counter. Second, all of the hot sauces are vinegar based. I tried several and all tasted like Tabasco sauce. Lastly, the steak doesn't look or taste like meat. It appeared to me to be compressed combo meat...not actual cut/sliced steak. And it tasted like cardboard. Just a weird thing but not good. I get that it's a taco bell-style fast food Mexican place. So we picked this spot as it was near Busch Gardens after a long day. The name clearly states Tex Mex and it's a counter order type place similar to Qdoba but pricier. We all found various items to order, wings appetizer and cream cheese jalapeño poppers. I opted for the chicken Flautas and they were really good but could've used a bit more of the pico on the side. A handful of chips came with each order and we added on a side of queso. The queso is not traditional but is smooth and heavy on the chili powder flavoring. Others ordered steak tacos lacking in steak and minimal cheese included, disappointing, especially for the pricing. My teen son ordered a burrito which was large but had more cilantro lime rice than meat. My daughter ordered the chicken chimichanga and said it was good. Overpriced, limited sides, no free chips n salsa besides the small handful that comes with certain entrees. Friendly enough counter service. Nothing really memorable we'd return for. read more

Mother day all the Tijuana Flat give free meal to all mother who visited. My child mom also got one free meal. This business model actually work and got many visitors of the night. It actually very thoughtful and they actually advertise their brand. Most of the family come to celebrate mother day at least 3 to 4 in a group. Some is more and actually bring business to the restaurant. I have order the steak quesadilla with cheese only. No veggies. My wife have the steak chimichanga. Did you notice their steak is good quality. Not tendon at all. Food was cool to right temperature with the cheese melt inside the quesadilla. If they have the steak grilled, I think they will attract more customers with correct marinated grilled steak. Overall. They are good food. Service is excellent. I did not try the grilled Mahi. I went last weekend and ordered two beef tacos for takeout. I was thoroughly enjoying my meal until I took a bite of my taco and there was a clump of 4 strands of hair. After spitting out my bite I was unable to finish my meal. I woke up the next morning sick with a sore throat and fever. It's really unfortunate because I have always loved tijuana and their cookie dough flatas and have never had any problems with tijuana before but i don't think i'll be able to eat there again after this incident. read more

Just moved to the Tampa area wanted to try this place out. It was pretty alright. We got steak nachos and chicken quesadilla, Chips could be better quality they were a bit stale and the cheese for the nachos wasn't good to us. I thought it would be more traditional. Heat seekers and Taco enthusiasts rejoice. Who doesn't like tacos? Tijuana Flats has a taco, nacho, & burrito driven menu with a large selection including Health conscious items and delicious queso. The food quality to price ratio is on point. Their huge hot sauce bar features 15-20 different hot sauces with 4 levels of smiley face to death face to relate to their heat level. Fast food casual style dine in that also has a take out option. This location has recently been expanded as well. The restaurants themselves all feature really interesting art and branding all around thats intriguing and fun. The service is rather quick and food usually comes out within 5-10 minutes depending on how busy they are. My personal favorite is the refried bean Noritto bowl, which is basically a bean burrito in a bowl without a shell. They also serve you a ton of food so don't be surprised when you have to get a takeout box. I've been here many times and every time I come by its very consistent. Very much worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet, and I would choose this over Chipotle, Moe's, or Qdoba any day. read more

Some days, the food is absolutely delicious and sometimes, the meat I order can be a little dry (chicken, usually). Again, hot sauce can fix that but I don't like to drown my food too much. Vibe: Honestly, this depends on when you go. I've come here when it was almost empty and there was no wait. I've also come when it was packed wall-to-wall and seating is impossible. There is outdoor seating available but on some days, even this space is packed. Timing is key. Also, two words: Taco Tuesday. Be warned, this place gets packed at around 12 pm on this day so if you want to avoid the wait, I suggest you come earlier. I recommend soft flour tacos with the blackened chicken. They also have wheat tacos if you are on a bit of a "health kick." read more

I placed an order online the night before for a coupon, only to have an message sent to my email 10 minutes before my pickup time telling me the order was not received. Going into the establishment, I asked what happened and the manager politely told me coupons are non-transferable for future dates. Wish someone would have told me earlier (or at least sent the message a few hours prior to my pickup). Having already drove 30 minutes to get there, I decided to order anyways. Moving forward, the manager handled the situation very professionally and helped make the experience. She even offered me a small discount and free drink for my troubles. If not for the customer service skills, I probably would have been more dissatisfied; however the manager there was super sweet and accommodating. Great food. The food is always delicious and well priced. Portions are large. My favorite are steak nachos with everything. The amount given is enough for about two meals for me. They often have different deals going on. Sometimes they have deals specifically for USF students, staff, and faculty. Great service. Sometimes they can be really busy when there's a deal going on and the staff comes down the line of waiting people to get you a drink while you wait. The orders are always accurate. It does take a little longer than you'd expect to get your food. However, no matter how long the line is initially it always moves pretty quickly. The location is always clean. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Good for groups. Parking can be a little bit of a hassle if you want to be close to the restaurant but there is a big parking lot, so you may just have to park a little farther away. read more

Ordered a burrito for hubby, and beans and rice for me, plus 2 drinks. I hate that they ask for a tip when you order, before ever getting food. Tips are for good service. Whatever. His burrito came out with my 4oz cups of beans and rice, with chips on his plate. So for $16, we got a burrito, and a tiny side of beans and rice. I asked where mine were, and they said on his plate. So for $9, you get no sides only a burrito. They felt bad for mixing it up, so they brought another side of each. We did not eat the rice or chips, and hubby was not impressed with the burrito. I hadn't been to TJ Flats in a few years as I moved from Florida. I love TJs. Their shells are awesome, their meat cooked great, their mega burritos are perfect, wet sauce is great, service is great, always ready to fill the ole drinks and offer their opinions on hot sauces. Man I missed coming to this place. My kid and I tried half the hot sauces, got the trio and just vegged out on some good ole TJ Flats. When I move back and retire in FWB Florida I will make sure to frequent these places. read more

Very disappointed. I have ordered food on line from here many times but when they mess up an order, they really mess up. I ordered a burrito from here and they took my credit card and gave me an order number but when my friend went to pick up our lunch they have lost my order. Luckily I had written what I had ordered and my friend had a copy. They made a basic burrito and dropped it in a bag with a bunch of containers of ingredients and said "Oh, well. Go make your burrito yourself." Not very good customer service. There are many wonderful places to eat near the university. I can always go some place else. read more

I've had to wait over 30 minutes past the scheduled pickup time the past 3 visits to this location. One time they clearly had to remake a stolen order, only offered a weak "they're just making it right now" without acknowledging that the order had to be made again and obviously hoped we hadn't noticed any of this. Perhaps change the pickup layout to prevent stolen orders and a more efficient process while updating pickup times. Food used to have to be out in 10 minutes but I'm accustomed to ordering TFlats a full hour before needing to eat because of the inefficiency. read more

This place is decent but not great. However, the place is fast, and the staff is friendly. I love that they offer people who are waiting on their order a free drink. I showed up for a casual lunch. They saw me lurking in the doorway and gestured for me to come up, offered me a menu, and told me not to rush to order. That was awesome. I had the carnitas norrito bowl (basically a naked burrito if you're at Qdoba or Chipotle). I really like that guacamole comes standard with it. The pork was okay, and overall everything was fine. Playing around with hot sauces from the hot sauce bar helped. The black beans were mushy, so everything sort of felt like the same texture. :/ The servers deliver the food to you, and they circulate around the room offering drink refills. That is nice. However, as the food falls short of Qdoba or Chipotle, I think I'll trade in the service for better food quality if I'm just eating a fast lunch. read more

So I stop by because it closes to school. Horrible service I ever experienced at Tijuana flats so far!!! I go to Tijuana flats almost every Tuesday at various different locations. I don't know why they don't put all the hot sauce at the hot sauce station at this location. I asked for a specific type which I know they have. I asked one of the ladies there, and she told me to go to the sauce station and look for it. After I told her that the sauce was not there, she told me to get the other hot sauce because they are similar . Why?? Why would you don't have the sauce at the station in the first place? Nope. The service was great. Customer service was awesome. But man, the food is SO inedible. I don't even think it's the chefs or cooks fault, I genuinely believe the recipe and food they use are just awful because it doesn't natter which Tijuana flats you visit, they're all terrible. This isn't even some "it's just Americanized Mexican that's why" no, this is inedible and disgusting quality food. Every single item in the menu has the same issue. We ordered and left everything after 2 bites even after being extremely hungry. Tampa and the food reviews are notorious for being so awfully wrong. read more
