The College Park Tijuana Flats was one of my family's go to restaurants as the kids were growing up. The food was good, the portions were generous, and the service was friendly. Unfortunately, that was a long time ago. Last night, my girlfriend and I stopped in at about 6:45 PM on the way back from the airport. The restaurant was effectively empty; there were maybe two people seated and eating. I ordered a blackened chicken burrito and my girlfriend had a burrito kids meal. We sat down outside and waited. And waited. And waited. After 20 minutes I went back in and after standing at the counter for a few minutes, stuck my head into the back and asked where my order was. I was told that the chicken needed to be cooked longer because I asked for blackened. Five minutes later, the food was brought to us. My burrito was mostly filled with rice and cheese and not a lot of that long cooking chicken. My girlfriend's burrito was cold; obviously prepared before the extra 15 minutes it took to cook the chicken. It's a shame. I really used to like this place. read more

This is a chain restaurant that I'm reluctant to recommend but this College Park shop was running efficiently and the food was decent. Most of the food is prepped offsite so "fresh made" isn't likely but it tasted fine. Nice staff with counter service and most food delivered to the table in plastic baskets so it's not upscale but quick and priced ok. I would give this place -0 stars if I could. I came in here at 7:45 PM asking for two tacos. I saw that they were a little bit busy before ordering and I asked the lady how long it would take for me to get my food she said it would take 5 to 10 minutes. I reluctantly ordered my food and 45 minutes later. I got my tacos. This is an absolute outrage, especially because I have a son who is eight years old and it was right in the breakfast bedtime and he needed to go to bed. I would call the manager if I could and give them my Venmo complaint, but the website itself is a nuisance to go through to get any sort of information or a complaint through. Had the banging chicken burrito. Worst thing I ever ate. The cashier came to check and asked how was it, told her I didn't like it at all. She apologized and 10 minutes later came back, saw I had dissected the burrito in search of something I could eat and asked if I wanted anything else. The chips were fresh and tasty with the salsa. They also had about 5 Mexican beers but no Modelo although it waa on the menu. I had an ice cold Corona. We went on Taco Tuesday for lunch. My mom and sister come in from Ocala every 3 or 6 months for an eye appointment at Magruder. We always go to Taco Tuesday or sometimes burrito Thursday depending on which day. We got there just before the main lunch crowd at around 11:45 and had nice seats. Service was excellent. I ordered two soft tacos and a trio of queso salsa and guac for the table. And they both had tacos. The trio is very small cups and not really set for a table for three. Maybe next time I'll get a large queso instead. Mom had a soft and hard taco. Her complaint was that the hard taco as soon as she bit into the shell it totally fell apart and made a mess. I've noticed on my tacos that they have really cut back on the quantity of filling. The last time we were here we had the burritos and I felt like I was mostly eating air. Not much filling then either. It's really hard to beat the price of Taco Tuesday or burrito thursday. But I was still hungry when I left and had to get something else to eat. read more

Good food, good service at a good price; a winning combination. This review is specifically for their College Park location. Here's the one thing that I really appreciate from any establishment - consistency. Tijuana Flats delivers in a huge way. No matter what day of the week, what item I order, what time of the day I visit; service is always outstanding and the food is good. There is no rocket science here, just plain good food, at a good price with pleasant service. Bonus star for having the option to make just about every item in the menu a vegetarian meal. For what it's worth, except for Taco Tuesdaze when the taco deals are amazing and too good to pass, I usually order the black bean quesadilla with no dairy and it is not just good, but totally guilt free. read more

Yup, we've all been there. Full bellies and then a few hours later--- REGRET. I know this isn't how I feel whenever I eat tacos because I have a few favorite local spots where I could eat 3 of their little tacos and feel fine. Yes, the TFlats tacos are MUCH bigger. Yes, they are also cheaper. And yes, you will be spending time holding your belly and moaning after eating here. It's not that the food has gone bad though. It's more a reflection of my palate over time. In college, TFlats was the dream. I am never really down for "fast food," but a TFlats taco felt like home cooking. With that being said, My palate has matured and when I returned recently, I could barely eat the chips because they were so heavily seasoned. I love seasoning with flavor, but the salt left me feeling dehydrated all day. What I do dig though is their sweet sauce. It's delicious and I usually ask for to-go ramekins so I get more for something else at home. Am I convincing you of my "thriftiness" yet? This is my quick go-to for lunch when I am working at Downtown Credo. I just hop across the street and get it to go. I have never waited longer than 10 minutes even when they are slammed. The women's bathroom is really funny cause it has a huge saying painted on the wall" It only burns for a little bit. You need a sense of humor for it, which I have, but it does make me shiver a little just thinking about it. HA! I always go for the Tostadas - Eight lightly fried, individual corn tortillas with refried beans & melted cheese. Your choice of meat and I go for the Pork, mmmmmm & loaded with whatever you want. I usually keep it simple with tomato, onion and lettuce. It's also served with a side of salsa & sour cream. They are really salty which I love. It's really delicious. My second choice are the Flautas - Two lightly fried tortillas, tightly rolled & loaded with your choice of filling plus cheese & all the toppings. Also served with a side of queso, guacamole & sour cream. These are a little bit heavier than the Tostadas but just as tasty! I am a huge skeptic when it comes to Americanized Mexican or generic Tex Mex. Without having visited this place that is what my impression of it was. When my hubby ranted about this place I came just to indulge him. Am I glad we did! First things first. The service is impeccable. Sure my sensibilities are askew since I lived in a city with the worst customer service ever. So when I come somewhere where the service is good I am confused "Me? Are you being nice to ME? Do you want to be my bff?? Please?" But here they still go above and beyond. As for the food, I was in love the second I realized that I could order anything with black beans instead of meat/chix/pork. YAY! Then the portions? Perfect. Once my hubby guided me to the hot sauce bar I knew I was always going to love this spot. On Tuesdays there is a taco special so the place is packed, yet service remains totally cool. The tacos are a great size, I kind of expected size to suffer but it didn't and mine was chock full of beans!! Yes, I did try the Ghost Pepper sauce. Yes, I loved it. I came here with some coworkers for lunch. The location is great; just a few blocks from my office. It can get pretty crowded here during lunch time; especially on Taco Tuesday! We called in our order in advance so when we got there all we needed to do was sit down and enjoy it. And enjoy we did. I had the special of two tacos with chips and a drink $5.99. My tacos were so yummy, I had them with blackened chicken, all the toppings, no olives. They also have a salsa bar with a variety of salsas from very mild to HOT, HOT, HOT. The service is always good. The prices are very reasonable and I love the atmosphere. I must say I truly enjoyed my lunch today. I'm sorry for neglecting you Tijuana Flats. This is the first time I have been to this Tijuana Flats. As well as the first time in a long time being at other Tijuana Flats locations. The food is always good. And since I enjoy hot and spicy, I always have to make a visit to the hot sauce bar and try a new hot sauce. I ordered the chicken enchiladas platter. Two corn tortillas stuffed with chicken and topped off with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, your choice of either red sauce or verde sauce, and a side of chips. With a medium size drink, the total came out to $9.77. As much as the food is good, I feel that for the price, a side of refried beans/rice should be included in the meal as it is at other restaurants featuring Mexican cuisine. The service is good and friendly, and the restaurant is clean. I love the wooden tables, especially the ones next to the front window where you can watch the world go by on Edgewater Drive. And the art work/murals of the dining room alone at this Tijuana Flats makes it worth visiting. Outdoor seating is also available. While waiting for my order, I decided to see what sauces were available. One favorite of mine, Smack My Ass And Call Me Sally (Seriously. That is the name of it.), was out. But I did find a nice hot sauce made with Vidalia onions and Georgia peaches. A good combination of heat and sweet for the chips. One problem I did have with Tijuana Flats was when I was paying with my American Express card. After ringing up the cost of my meal, it asked to include a tip. I would rather leave a cash tip for the staff, as I always do. Which leads me to another problem I have. But with the customers. As I went to leave a tip in the black tin can used for tips, there were discarded straw wrappers and other trash included with the tips. Really? The tip jars are for putting tips in. Not trash. And is it just me, or when has ordering food at a restaurant become rocket science? I had to wait while a customer was asking several questions while ordering, and a second employee had to open a register and take my order. To that Tijuana Flats employee, I thank you. And to the customer holding up the line, you are buying food. Not a car or a house. I would hate to think what this Tijuana Flats is like during lunch on a busy workday and someone is holding up the line. Tijuana Flats always serves up some good food. And the service is always great. If I am in the area again, I would most likely stop in here again and watch the activity buzzing along in College Park. Smack my ass and call me Sally. read more

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. This is basically an upscale fast food restaurant. Healthier concept.... Order at the counter (they fill your drinks there) grab a table and stop by the "salsa" bar. Coming from California, there is a difference between salsa & hot sauce, and this is definitely hot sauce! There are a ton of them to choose from though, from super mild to blow your socks off! When your order is ready, a server shouts your name & brings your food to your table. I ordered a tostada, thinking I would get a round hard tortilla, with toppings....what came out was basically a plate of nachos - interesting. The gal I was with had a quesadilla - and said it was great! We ordered chips & a trio of dips. The salsa (pico de gallo) was super mild but tasty & the guacamole was fresh (it needed salt) & the quest was YUMMY! I do love that they give you fresh jalapeños, not pickled! This Tijuana Flats location is the one closest to my house (it's within walking distance!), so it's the one I usually go to. It's one of the best I've been to, as well. It's definitely up there, in my opinion, with the likes of the store in Lake Mary and the one on S.R. 434 & near Publix and Mulligan's. The service here is always outstanding and the food is, of course, great. I give this location bonus points for offering online ordering, which I recently did. It made the experience much better, especially considering that if I'd not ordered online I likely would've been waiting a while since the store was jam-packed during my most recent visit. By ordering online, I was able to just walk up the counter, give my name and order & pay. When I did that, I was in and out of there in a matter of minutes. Very convenient! I'd only tried T.F.'s online ordering when I picked food up at the location in Lake Mary, and had a few weird experiences there. Not that there was anything wrong with the food - I guess maybe when I ordered online for the Lake Mary store, that's when the company was first using online ordering, so there were a few snags. For whatever reason, on my most recent visit here I did not order anything to drink, so I missed out on that otherworldly crushed ice T.F. has. Sometimes I think it's almost worth it to head over to T.F. for just a soft drink or Hi-C because their ice is so good. I have been trying to go to T.F. a little less lately as I'm really into the food trucks around town and have yet to check out a few privately-owned Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants, but this T.F. and all of the others will do just fine from time-to-time. I'm very happy that this location opened up & so close to where I live. It's clean and it's convenient, and I've always been very happy with the friendly service and the quality of the food. Tijuana Flats is a mainstay whenever I'm in Orlando, but I'd never been to this location before. An old friend suggested we meet here at lunch on Christmas Eve at 2pm. We got in the door at 1:58 and noticed a sign saying they were closing at 2 for the holiday. The staff insisted we stay, made us an excellent meal, and never hurried us out. Of course we felt awful and ate as quickly as we could so we weren't keeping them later than we were (and yes, we tipped well!)... but a massive 5-star review to this team for not shutting down 2 minutes early or being anything less than smiling, genial, and warm despite the fact that we were keeping them from an early holiday! read more
