This was my first meal after landing in Orlando. I was a bit brainscrambled from an early flight, but tacos make everything better. Sooooo worth it. I'd go back for the chips alone - they were perfection, a bit greasy, think, so crisp they could cut your lip and just the right amount of sauce. Today I had the pleasure of finding my way into Tijuana Flats for the first time. I was greeted & assisted by Brea. Brea was extremely kind, friendly, & welcoming to the restaurant. I told her it my first visit & she took the time to tell me about the menu option, drink options, how to order, etc. I decided on traditional beef tacos in a crunchy shell. They were awesome. I tried a few of their salsas from the salsa bar & they were perfect. My favorite was "Death". It was hot so if you're not up for some burn in your palate, try the others, they were all delicious. I enjoyed the tacos so much I went back for a second order of Dos Tacos. One was complimentary with the survey on the receipt being completed online for my first meal. The tacos were perfect with the traditional fixings; ground beef, lettuce, onion, tomato, jalapeños, & cheese. I enjoyed them very much. I had a quick chat with Brea & joked a bit. I'll toss it two stars only because normally I've never had any issue with this location in the past. But today was pretty rough guys! I paid $20 for chips, dip, and a burrito and I received a burrito with what seemed/smelled to be old beans inside and a big juicy chunk of chicken in the corner, no HUGE deal but if I grabbed a vegetarian burrito then I probably wouldn't want meat in the plate at all. Last thing that I was a little bummed about was the fact that I received about 10 chips in my box. I got 3 dips, bad math? Idno , I normally wouldn't slam a local spot especially but, twenty bucks and I have a burrito I can't eat, but I have a few chips and a spoon to eat my dip. Great service!! I have been here for Taco Tuesdays the last 3 weeks. The employees are always so helpful and cheery. After I ordered I sat outside (nice patio) and they brought my food to the table. If you can't do curbside pickup, don't offer it. I sat in my car for almost 30 minutes, and even called to make sure my order went through, before I finally walked in. My food was sitting, getting cold on the counter. I was expecting a busy restaurant, but it was empty. If I'd known I just had to walk in to get someone's attention, I would have been in and out. Tijuana Flats (especially this location), combines incredible food with shocking great customer service. There are so many Tex-Mex places out there (Chipotle, Moe's, Qdoba, Lime, etc) that it is tough to stand out in this market. However, Tijuana Flats does just that with their freshly made Tex-Mex fare. For those that love hot sauce (like myself) the 'hot sauce bar' at TJ Flats is perfect. Pro-tip: those little cups don't cut it, ask at the counter for a bigger cup for hot sauce while ordering. Onto the service, 97% of the time when going to Tijuana Flats, the food comes out promptly and your order is taken by a very polite person. They also constantly come around to make sure your experience is going great and your drink is full. On the 3% of time that something goes wrong, they are incredibly helpful to resolve the issue and make it right. For instance, we recently went in and our order was lost (nobody is perfect, these things happen everywhere). What stood out was that they seemed so shocked that this occurred, apologized immensely, took our drinks off our bill and gave us an extra round. Most importantly, within just a few minutes after inquiring, our food was prepared and delivered. TJ Flats, a wonderful Central Florida staple food with great service. read more

I have heard a lot about Tijuana Flats since moving to Orlando, and of course I see them everywhere! Someone brought their delicious chips and salsa to my house when we hosted a barbecue. Perhaps because we waited a while to eat there and had heard only high regards for the place, our expectations were a little too high. I liked it, but I really wanted to love it. I had the chips and queso, which were quite delicious in that Tex-Mex, generic kind of way. The chips here are perfect. And salsa is fresh and delicious too. I had the chicken chimichanga, which was good, but not amazing. I love the sauces though! I had the curry and the georgia peach, which were both excellent. I think i made a mistake by not having a margarita, as they get good reviews all over Yelp. I'll try one next time. The service was efficient and friendly. I've been a fan of Tijuana Flats since they first opened years ago that by this point, all I have left to judge each restaurant by is their location, lol. The food is exactly what I've come to expect after all these years: delicious tex-mex with countless ways to customize it to you liking. Whether it's adding queso, salsa, or one of their several dozen hot sauces, you're sure to find a combo that you like. The College Park location is nice, with a decent sized patio area. Unfortunately, the patio are is right next to the street, so exhaust fumes and road noise can be an issue during the middle of the day. Aside from that, there isn't much to complain about. So glad Tijuana Flats is in College Park now! The food here is always a pleaser, and the prices are amazing (Taco Tuesday anyone?). Only complaint is the seating - especially on Taco Tuesdays, you have to stand around to wait for a spot to sit. Noticing a lot more families here too recently, kids have caught on that TJ Flats is good too ;-) I like TJ Flats because it's easy to order vegetarian entrees, low-fat dairy, whole wheat tortillas, etc. Will keep returning to this place as long as it's in business. It really shouldn't be that complicated especially since there is an employee's initials on the ticket noting they've checked the order before it goes out. We'll just stick with dine in. This location used to be decent. Time and time again I've given them a chance but I'm done. First red flag was they changed their sides to much smaller portions and a tasteless white rice. 2nd red flag was that every time you order beef tacos it's like warm at best, but most often cold. 3rd flag I came into the restaurant and ordered food to go and sat their and waiting for it. They were modestly busy, but not enough to justify the over hour wait time I sat for my food. When I noticed two families who ordered after me get their food first, I inquired when mine would be ready. I was told it would be at least another half hour and that the reason those others got their food is because their orders all skipped me because mine was "to go". I left and got my money back. It's been a few months so I thought I'll try one more time. Barely anyone in the restaurant, one person in front of me at the register. Ok so I am a taco fanatic of sorts, have tasted and made every imaginable taco in my life and this place is not so great. Tried the fish tacos, said it was "loaded" with fish on menu, I got one small piece in each of my tacos. Yea, NOT HAPPY! I don't like to be lied to. Service was below par. I get that we are in a college town here and most are getting minimum wage so they don't want to be there...but doesn't mean you have to be rude and give a stare like "hurry up and order already"! It's my first time here, so at least be nice so that I will be back. I can look past rude service if the food is really good, but won't be back to this joint. Better off going to Chipolte. I use it on my burrito, so wasn't able to start eating my meal until two in our group had already finished theirs. Tijuana Flats, what can I say... Our College Park location rocks! The entire staff is always nice and courteous, we are always greeted with a smile. The food is beyond amazing and well worth every penny. (not that it is expensive, it isn't) Oh and did I mention they are pet friendly too! They have an amazing shaded patio area where you can relax, enjoy the tunes and have your favorite four-legged by your side. It is so refreshing to have a restaurant staff that recognizes your face and remembers you from the neighborhood. Makes you feel right at home. There is ample parking, behind the restaurant or along the street. If you're a CP local, its just a short walk or bike ride from anywhere in College Park; at the corner of Smith and Edgewater. I am slightly ashamed to admit that I actually kind of like the food at Tijuana Flats, and their hot sauces are a great treat. Has anyone tried the ghost ones? They'll clean your nasal passages right up! Here's the thing about this location though: 90.56145% of the time, this place smells like really bad B.O. Not just regular B.O. Really bad B.O. And I am not entirely sure why. Is it the people that eat there? I'd like to think not. Is it the people that work there? I certainly hope not. Is it whatever they use to clean the place? Possibly. I am no Sherlock so I really have no idea what is causing the smell, but I hope they fix it soon 'cos it is a good way to ruin people's appetites. What a refreshing experience!!! My visit to the T-Flats in College Park went down like every restaurant visit should! For starters as soon as I walked in was greeted by a staff member, authentically, I will add, not like the forced "Welcome to Moe's" greeting you get at... where else... Moe's. I also like that they have menus to look at while standing in line instead of reading off of a board behind the counter. Makes it much easier to know what you want. At the counter the cashier person was very helpful, made some suggestions on my order, and then clued me in on the hot sauce bar, which is one of the things T-Flats is famous for. She then told me to grab a seat that a server would bring my order, get me refills, and even clean up when I was done. This left me plenty of time to peruse the sauces! They were all really well described on the little cards next to each dispenser so I grabbed a couple of samples and waited for my salad. I ordered the "Fresh Salad" with carnitas and this tasty avocado ranch dressing in a ... get this.... whole wheat tortilla shell! nice right! This was seriously a great salad! The greens were super fresh, the carnitas was tasty and the first timer salad dressing was perfect. In between stuffing my face I had my root beer refilled twice!!! Another thing that earns 5 stars is the cleanliness. This was a busy afternoon and I did not see a table left dirty for more than two minutes before someone swooped in, cleared it and gave it a wipedown. There is lots of parking in the back, they have a nice shaded outdoor seating also, food was fresh and tasty, place was clean, and the staff was genuinely helpful and courteous!! I've seen Tijuana Flats locations all around Orlando but never went in until last Friday. As bad as this sounds, if I have a craving for Mexican food I usually just go to Chipotle. What drew us into Tijuana Flats is that it's relatively close, casual, and we had a coupon for $5 off. I didn't realize until we walked in that it's counter service rather than a full sit down restaurant. I think I must have had a look of puzzlement on my face because the manager asked if we needed help. He very nicely walked us through the concept and the menu and pointed us to the counter to order. Then after we'd ordered he brought a complimentary Tijuana trio (chips, salsa, queso, guacamole) to our table. I wish I liked the food more because the service was great and I love all the effort that went into the theme and marketing materials. But we both thought the tacos were just so so. My boyfriend reported that the chicken was dry and preferred the carnitas. I also had the carnitas and thought it was good but not as good as Chipotle. We liked the chips and queso but the guacamole was bland. Fair or not, I do tend to judge a place based on their guacamole and this just didn't cut it. I'd be willing to try Tiajana Flats again if someone else wanted to go, but I'm not jumping to return. read more

Thank goodness Tijuana Flats finally found its way to College Park! Edgewater Drive is seriously lacking tasty Cal-Mex options (I'm looking at you, Paxia!), and its central location on Edgewater between Princeton and Smith is very accessible for both pedestrians and drivers alike. The food is, of course, exactly like any other TF you may frequent. This location was having some rice problems when they first opened- as in, it often wasn't cooked thoroughly- but that problem seems to be remedied. The main differentiator between this location and others is this one has loads of outdoor seating. If the weather's nice, grab yourself a bucket of beer, have a seat under the canopy of oaks and enjoy some fabulous people-in-their-cars watching (since you're practically sitting in the middle of Smith Street as you dine.) There's a private parking lot directly behind the TF/CVS building, but you can also usually find parking on Edgewater. read more

Tijuana Flats is as good as it gets. Wherever you go, they provide the same great customer service and really good tex-mex to go with it. The decor is awesome and they bring out your food really fast. The hot sauce bar is great and they always play good music. The concept started here by a local kid out of UCF, and is now a regional phenomenon. It's hard to go wrong on the menu. They have all kinds of good choices. I love tijuana flats, me and my co workers always go for lunch. I went for Taco Tuesday and the chicken tacos were SOOOO good! This particular location get VERY full at lunch time so its always best to go before lunch time or after. Fast and friendly location. You can place your order online which makes it even better since some days can be pretty busy. I like to place my order online but then eat there outside. They have a fabulous outside area. Any issues are quickly addressed and fixed. Always on top of drink refills. Parking at this location can be a little hectic but worth it for the yummy food.
