When I walked in I didn't know whether to relax on the deck and enjoy the scenery or lie down on one of the beds and take a nap. If I could afford a vacation home, this is exactly what I'd want. My words won't do it justice, but I'll try. The lodge is in Indian, about halfway between Anchorage and the bus depots for people traveling to Whittier or Seward. The views of snow capped mountains and ocean water of Turnagain Arm are unforgettable. We were even able to watch passing Beluga whales for a few minutes. The lodge has three floors, three full baths, four HUGE comfortable beds and two smaller beds. There are upper and lower living rooms with big windows looking out at the mountains, as well as a full open kitchen for socializing. There is a wide deck around 3 sides with a railing that even a toddler couldn't get through, plus lots of chairs, deck chairs and rocking chairs. Roger and Arlene, the owners, are a lot of fun, and can really entertain with their stories of Alaska and gold mining. After several days of sightseeing, this was the most beautiful and perfect place to rest and relax. The icing on the cake.

Breakfast consisted of hard-boiled eggs, a variety of meats and cheeses, yogurt, and granola. It was filling and a good healthy start to a day of walking. There is a grocery store on the next block, and a bakery two blocks away. The B&B is on I & 13th, which is walkable to just about anything downtown. And you pass by Star the Reindeer on the way!

Breakfast was an extra-special treat because they had multiple gluten-free options AND gluten-free toast!! (It was a shared toaster, but since I'm not celiac, it was a welcomed gift!) We were able to catch our bus to Seward without a hitch, and the saloon (off the lobby) where we waited and enjoyed breakfast was absolutely magical! There was so much history to take in, and it was such a fun way to experience a little piece of Anchorage's past. The location was also great--close to all the touristy fun and gift shops! The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and luxuriously decorated. I love that each one has its own spa-like bathroom. Everything is very clean and neat. It's a bit of a long drive from the airport so make sure you have your own car. But the drive is sooo worth it. From the large deck, you can look out over most of the city, the ocean and mountains beyond. The sunsets turn the water all sorts of beautiful colors! The owners are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate dietary requests and I appreciate the variety of food and snacks provided. So if you're looking for a private, luxerious place to stay in Anchorage, I highly recommend this place. You won't be disapointed.

We booked the 7.5-hour cruise online, and the check-in process was smooth. The window seats at the tables are first come, first served, so that's something to keep in mind. The service was good, and everyone throughout the tour was very helpful and kind. The captain and crew were great and provided lots of interesting information about the surrounding area, wildlife, and glaciers. They also offered a tequila tasting when we reached the glacier area, with the tequila served over glacier ice, which was a unique touch. At the end of the cruise, they gave us a complimentary brownie, which was a nice little treat. Drink price and quality plus hot dog that we ordered were good. When booking online, we had the option to choose our meal, and we requested a gluten-free turkey club. Unfortunately, when our section was called for food, the gluten-free meal wasn't ready and took quite a while to arrive. Also the regular snack option included chips and a granola bar, while the gluten-free option came with two bags of chips instead. It would have been nice to have a little more variety for the gluten-free option. Overall, we really enjoyed the cruise, the scenery, and the wonderful staff. It was a memorable experience and I would recommend it.

However, after dealing with this company I think that "Crooked" is actually a term I would describe the manager and the owner. It is my understanding there have been numerous "extraordinary" events which would keep Warren from returning phone calls. Instead he would simply screen the calls. However, when someone eagerly takes money for a service and then refuses to answer the phone, texts, and emails I find no excuse. I have been waiting to fulfill a dream of a guided Alaskan fishing trip for more than 20 years. When I spoke to Warren (Gen Mgr) at the Sportsman's show in Boise he was very friendly. He gladly took my information and my money. However when a hiccup arose, he refused to answer any of the three phone numbers he'd given me. He did not answer emails. I spoke to him one time to try and rectify the situation, and he never called me back or answered. I finally had to dispute charges to my credit card. I hope those of you reading this will think twice about giving this company your business. If you do give the, money, I hope it works out for you, and you have a great fishing adventure. Caveat Emptor FYI: Crooked Creek received two horrible reviews on Facebook. I'd tell you to go read them, but it appears the management decided to erase the reviews from their page. The questions that he didn't have an answer for he sent a guide over to help us. The park is set up nicely with grass and trees around you.
