I decided to go again to the docks since I had a such a great time last time I was there. This was a very different experience. The wigs were still solid, but the customer service and salad were eh. Sat at the bar and basically had to flag down our bartender every time I needed something, she forgot we asked for water until I asked again twenty minutes later; she seemed more interested talking to the gentleman across from us. Decided to order a Caesar salad and got this! Iceberg lettuce with barely some sprinkles of queso fresco and wontons. I would call this just some sort identity crisis salad with Caesar dressing; it just didn't work and for the price it was just confusing and tasteless. Never had a Caesar with iceberg lettuce and queso fresco?! Waited another fifteen minutes to get another bartender to notice me and let her know I didn't wants nor liked the salad, she was able to get our bartender attention and at least was taken off the bill. Okay the vibe here is very chill. It's HUGE. Interestingly enough they do not serve alcoholic drinks in tikis (they came in plastic glasses) the drinks average 10-12$ it seems. We had ordered a crab cake sandwich. Definitely different then I thought, it wasn't a Maryland style crab cake or even fried. Wasn't bad just different from what I would have imagined. I wouldn't order it again. The fries were good. Was hot. Got the banana bread ice cream sand which based off reviews and it was a 2/5 I wouldn't order again. Service was alright. I'd only come for photos but the food was just okay. Nothing spectacular. You could get equal food at a bar - for less $$$. Drinks were okay. This was our third visit to this restaurant and I have to say I thought I would never go back after the last two times because the food in the service was horrible. Yesterday our experience with our server, Ashley and being able to see what goes on in an open kitchen and seeing a manager constantly wiping down and cleaning as the food was being prepared and transferred through the window, I couldn't say anything more than it was a great experience. Keep up the great job Ashley the server that waited on us is very professional as we move from outside to inside because of the weather and she never changed her mood. She was very accommodating. We were a table of six with all different needs, and she never made anything a problem. I did approach the front desk to find out who the manager was to speak to and I do believe she was a regional, but her name was Amanda and she was the one that was doing all this wiping down in the kitchen. We had a great time when we went to Tiki Docks River Bar & Grill. The scenery by the water if you sit on the back deck is so beautiful and peaceful. I've been here twice so far and both times the food was just so so. On the other hand though the drinks are very tasty and strong. My favorite drink they have is the piña colada. I came to this restaurant from a friend recommendation and there was a group of nine. The experience wasn't that great the first time because the servers were not that great. They were super busy on a Friday around 6 pm. We barely had the chance to order our drinks for happy hour. The drinks were not the best. I had their rum something. For food I had their wings and didn't really enjoy them. But the potato swirl was really good. The second time I came on a Monday but didn't need a reservation, we sat outside and the sever was really nice. She kept coming back and making sure you didn't need anything. I got there chicken tenders coconut flavor and the potato swirls but the potatoes We're not cooked good this time and the tenders were OK. Something I just like about this place is that there are spiders everywhere and it's not very clean like they have webs everywhere and I don't understand how they don't think it's uncomfortable when there are spiders that could go down on the food and the chairs which did happen in the last two times. Been wanting to try this place since we moved here. I love tiki bars. Loooove them. So having one right around the corner was a huge plus. Overall a good experience but I'd say the service was the part keeping this from being five stars. Pretty cool spot, the decor is really well done. Showed up on a Saturday, tons of people waiting. Got quoted 30-45 mins. Went to the patio bar for drinks. Lots of open tables outside so we figured it would go quick. 40 mins in I went in to ask on the status and was told another 10-15 mins. Ended up waiting over an hour. I'd imagine they're understaffed just like everywhere else, but taking that into account and managing expectations (or just straight up letting guests know they're short staffed and waits are longer) would have helped. Drinks at the bar were good, decent mai tai and the watermelon margarita was tasty. Once we finally got sat it was another 10 mins or so before a server came by. We went ahead and ordered everything at once since we had plenty of time to decide between the wait and waiting on a server. I ordered the gochujang wings and the pork tacos, wife had the veggie burger (almost $5 to make it a veggie patty!? I've never seen that anywhere, usually places are pretty accommodating to dietary needs without charging guests more than a buck or two, that was a bummer. Almost nothing on the menu is vegetarian so they got you there.) my mom had the pork sandwich. The food was really good, the wings were well cooked and the pork and salsa in the tacos was delicious. Prices weren't awful, but there were some way more expensive options on the menu so it can add up, especially with drinks. The place is very unique in architecture, situated on the banks of the Alafia River and has ample outside dining areas with live music. The inside has a tower of TV's in the center of a huge bar showing various sports events. The waiters are friendly and energetic. The menu is a very inviting selection of appetizers, seafood, tacos, ribs and lots of exotic frozen drinks. We had a full rack of baby back ribs w/fries and fried rice with shrimps and a 1/2 doz oysters that came with a wasabi like paste, oyster sauce and small tabaco bottled. We have driven past what seems to be an exciting restaurant many times and we were looking forward to trying out somewhere new with our friends. Upon pulling in there is plenty of parking which was nice. Walking up it had a nice riverside vibe. We had to wait about 15 mins which was understandable for lunchtime. We got seated outside and greeted by our server promptly. That's probably where the promptness ends... We ordered some drinks which took a bit longer than you would expect for margaritas and our watermelon appetizer seemed to be forgotten about. The wings were not forgotten, the grilled wings were the highlight of our experience. Great flavor and very juicy. 3 of us ordered the grouper sandwich and one of them was suppose to come the garlic aioli on the side... it didn't and took another 25 minutes to get a new sandwich out. I love cooking fish because it doesn't take any time to cook. Overall the grouper sandwiches were average at best. If you're looking for a good fish sandwich try Circles in Apollo beach. Overall the idea of this place is something you would imagine seeing at Universal City Walk or Disney Springs with a touch of margarita-ville. I finally made it here after months of waiting for the crowd to get their fix. I came here on a Sunday because I had such a craving for a spicy Bloody Mary. I checked the menu out on line beforehand and saw they had what they called The Crabby Mary. Sounded good. As we pulled up, we didn't have any problems finding a parking spot. We walked right in and out to the outdoor bar area and sat down. Our bartender greeted us and right away, and before she could introduce herself, I ordered their Crabby Mary. Now, one thing I was kind of iffy on, was that they put lump crab meat in their Bloody Mary. Now, when I got this, it looked so good. It literally failed all of my expectations. They should definitely NOT put crab meat in their drink. This was really gross and made the drink even taste weird. The last thing I want to do is suck up a bunch of crab meat in my straw. Ewe. So, needless to say, I would never order this special drink of theirs again. Onto the food. We had the Ceviche for starters. Hmm, I wish I would have liked this, but it was disappointing. Portion size was small for the price and the taste was lacking that citrus flavor that Ceviche is supposed to have. I ordered the beer steamed Peel n' Eat Old Bay Gulf Shrimp. They were pretty good size, just enough spice, and hit the spot for me. My friend ordered the Crabby Wings, but said that the next time he comes, he would try their Tiki Wings. All in all, I would definitely come back. The back patio area was a good size that had plenty of tables to accommodate many patrons, as was the seating in the bar area. I'd have to say it's a nice place.. from the street. We arrived and were cheerfully greeted by several hostess asking us where we wanted to sit. One walked us to our table and seated us. The server came over and greeted us asked about drinks. I ordered a Margarita and my wife just a unsweetened tea. The margarita was average and definitely not worth 9.99, we ordered 2 appetizers, shrimp ceviche for 12.99 and raw oysters for 23.48. The ceviche was very small and the oysters were good but they gave us 8 crackers for a dozen oysters. I ordered a grouper sandwich and my wife ordered a Hawaiian BLT. Both were ok at best. The grouper sandwich had several large bones in it but was seasoned very well. The BLT was ok. I'd definitely give them another chance. The bill was right at 90 dollars. Checked this place out on a Sunday afternoon. We were celebrating our friends wedding anniversary. Our server was great! The food was good but to me there just wasn't enough for the price. Myself and other friends with me actually ordered additional meals to share. I had the ribs. I loved the sauce it was in. I NEVER EVER write reviews. EVER. But I felt I had to here in hopes of impacting change at the very least. I have been to this location half a dozen times. Food is good. Service is average. Location and price point are good. So I come back. This Sunday I invited a friend to meet me for dinner and we sat at the bar. It was her first time and since I suggested where I felt personally responsible for the evening. Two bartenders. - one female ignored us THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE THERE. She took our food order and got it wrong. I was crystal clear on what I wanted and she simply did not seem to care. So my salad came out exactly how I said I DID NOT WANT IT. It's not rocket science. Nic, the other bartender, tried to help but he was busy actually working. The female bartender, Sarah I think, acted like it was my fault I didn't like the food she gave me and never - and I mean never - waited on us for the remaining 3 hours we were there. The saving grace was a tall manager I think his name was Erik. Came over and apologized for the salad and I saw him go to the kitchen and make it himself - the correct way after speaking with me - and delivered it quickly. He checked back on us a few times and we both could tell how much HE cared about the business. Sadly, he didn't see anyone else who cared even a little. Two other 'managers' were standing by the hostess station talking to each other for most of our time there Only Erik was interactive. I actually had to stop him with his hands full of dishes to ask him to stop back when he could. He came back and we asked him for another round of drinks - and no bartender even said BOO to us. It was a Sunday late afternoon. IT WASNT BUSY. I MEAN COME ON !!! The salad I did get that was correct was good. We had draft and canned beer so no cocktails. Nic was pleasant and hard working. Erik deserved 100% of our tip. Sarah and the other staff need to be managed better. I was embarrassed On the way out we stopped at the hostess station to thank the manager and the manager that was standing around tried to engage us. On our way out. We asked to speak to Erik and he came out from uh kitchen and apologized to us again and made us feel like we were not wrong for being disappointed. I live in Orlando but visited my parents that live locally and my mom has been hyping this place up since she heard it opened. We visited and wow was this place packed. It took two hours to get seated, which isn't a bad thing but I was deff shocked. The building itself is very beautiful and it's right on the water. When we finally got seated the food comes very quickly. Our server was very friendly and helpful. My mom ordered the grouper sandwich and I got a fried fish sandwich and a drink. Anyhow, if you're looking for a bar scene, beer, and some bar-quality food, you probably won't be terribly disappointed. In our case, we actually enjoy good food. The atmosphere was fine for a bar. Staff was friendly. I can't say the service was exceptional though, we did order crabcakes, and those never came. Also, our server was perhaps a little too friendly, leaning in close over our table without wearing a mask, touching things on our table... Still a little uncomfortable with that, given that Covid is still a risk. As for the food: I ordered the taco trio, grouper, cod, shrimp. The tortillas were fat and bready, the cod was kind of fishy and not fresh, everything was supposed to be blackened but I found it all bland. The mango salsa would be good if they added some jalapeños to it. My wife ordered the grouper on coconut lime rice. The rice was definitely the highlight. The grouper was also bland, and definitely overcooked, dry. They did have a modest but decent beer selection. I got a West Coast IPA, my wife got a Three Daughters Blonde. This is such a great spot stopped in here randomly on a week night and had about a 30 min wait. Ordered an alcoholic beverage and it was nice and strong. The ambiance was awesome.
