This is a great experience and a definite affordable place to grab some food. I had the El pastor tacos which was good but not great. I really wish I would have gone with the recommended Kahlua pulled pork taco my daughter had as that was amazing. Service was great. It makes me sad to leave this review because I don't actually like giving poor reviews, but it must be done. My boyfriend and I were pretty excited to eat here even though we've literally been having fish tacos every day (Shout-out to Paia Fish Market in Maui! Bombdotcom). So off we went to tiki tacos. We each got the best fish taco, my boyfriend also had the shrimp taco, and I had a kahuna fish taco (which was supposed to be a spicy fish taco and when I opened up the taco I think it was just their "best fish taco" with jalapeños) The pictures/tacos look great. They've got loads of toppings on their tacos. Different filling options. AND they have handmade tortillas that they make fresh every day. So what was wrong? The tacos literally didn't taste like anything. They have delicious cotija cheese, some sort of crema sauce, and other "yummy" fillings, but it was bland and had no taste. Both of us were majorly disappointed and just plain weirded out that it could look so good but taste like nothing. You can come here and try it for yourself but maybe just get one taco since they're pretty big and expect to use a lot of their hot sauce to flavor it up. read more

I really wanted to like this little restaurant but tacos were very disappointing. They were bland and the homemade tortillas were very thick and grainy. I know it's Hawaii but this was the most expensive meal we ate in Kauai and we wouldn't go back, unfortunately. BUT...if you're open to a little variation on the usual, and like exploring local spots, you might be pleasantly surprised at Tiki Tacos. On the flight to Lihue I sat next to a woman who used to live on Kauai, so I asked her what her favorite place to eat was. She enthusiastically responded, "Tiki Tacos in Kapa'a!" She said it was a hole in the wall but locals love it. That's my kind of place, so we headed over a few days later. Our group of 7 was greeted energetically and warmly by a woman who answered all of our (many) questions about the menu. We ordered a variety of items and a half hour later our red plastic baskets were empty and we were happily satisfied. The most unique aspect of the food here are the tortillas: hand-made, so a bit thicker than store-bought or machine-produced. We loved them, but if you are expecting a more traditional one be prepared. My fish was tender and tasty, and the hot sauces were fantastic. I notice some other reviewers feel the prices here are high. However, these tacos are huge. One taco is all I needed for a very filling meal, whereas in other places I would order 2-3. Still good, even better because I tried the Kuala pig one today and even after 7 years ago- still delicious! Huge. 1 was big enough for me. The only thing was the tortilla fell apart on my husbands which made it hard to eat, but he managed to enjoy it still. These tacos are stuffed and worth the falling apart. He had a mani fish taco and the pig-pork one. The guy who takes your order is helpful and great at making suggestions. His overalls and hat make him even more fun! Great friendly staff. Tiki Tacos did not do it for me. This place does however have great potential. The homemade corn tortillas were good, but they were served cold! Who does that to homemade corn tortillas?! The tacos average about $8-10 and are a pretty decent size... well at least the tortilla is. Unfortunately, despite the size they are filled with cabbage and hardly any meat. With six people in our group each one of us ordered something different but we are shared the same thought.... loaded with cabbage, not enough meat and cold. My shrimp and fish taco had about 3 or 4 shrimp and about 5 or 6 pieces of little cubed fish. Our carne asada tacos were cut with ground beef instead of steak. The pork taco was basic in taste and had about a spoonful of ground pork. Not sure if we got jacked or if this is how they serve everyone. Like I said, it does have great potential if they warm up those tortillas and give a little more meat. read more

Heard from a friend that Tiki Taco was the place for tacos on Kuai. The Kapa'a restaurant was just down the road from our condo. The menu choices all sounded good, it was hard to choose. Decided on The Best Fish Tacos and Pork Tacos and some Guacamole. Disappointed... the fish in The Best Fish Taco was dry, almost like they cooked it ahead and kept it warm as they filled the tacos. Definitely not the best... The pork Taco was made with ground pork, I was expecting pulled pork or carnitas. The ground pork was okay, just unexpected. Neither the fish or the pork were seasoned, a little salt and pepper works wonders. Here's my least favorite about their tacos - they make a blue corn tortilla that's about 1/4" thick, dry and bland. After eating only half the tortilla on the first taco, I skipped it completely on the second taco. The guacamole was very good but not good enough to make the tacos better than just mediocre! The cost for 2 Best Fish, 2 Pork, 1 scoop of guacamole and 2 sodas was $45!!! Definitely not worth it! read more
