My hubby decided on fish tacos on our trip and read good reviews of this place near our hotel so we decided to try it on "taco " Tuesday. What a great choice and everything was delicious. We had their fish taco with Mahi Mahi and the carnitas taco. I am not a real corn tortilla fan but their corn tortillas were perfect and did not fall apart. Horrible customer service and mediocre tacos. The manager(?) was super disrespectful to my mother because his employee got our order wrong. I came here with my family and the person who took our order wrote it down incorrectly which is fine, mistakes happen. My mother went inside to ask for help and the manager or whatever who helped us was completely condescending and rude for no reason. He called my mother a Karen right off the bat and kept speaking over her loudly saying "WHAT DO YOU WANT WHAT DO YOU WANT" and arguing over semantics how our food we have is what is on the ticket which is true but our order was written incorrectly on the ticket so it was a completely irrelevant point and felt like he just wanted to argue instead of help with our issue. When I was there it wasn't busy, but even if it was it is easy to tell the staff has this menu and food to you fast down stat. We got their recommended fish taco and recommended pork taco and an additional chicken/pollo taco. All terrible. The fish tacos were decent. They weren't kidding when the menu mentioned spicy Tiki Fire Vegetable tacos, they were really fire. I could barely eat half of them. So I figured I would just get the vegetarian quesadilla, which turned out had more veggies (same as the tacos) but barely any cheese. The marinated tofu was ok, nothing to sing home about. Menu was packed with item names but the guy at the counter describes his favorites and we were sold! Jam packed large tacos. 2 filled me up and I was starving. Don't miss the Hawaiian Taco I chose chicken and can't wait to try the pulled pork. It has caramelized onions and pineapple. But it's done soo well with other ingredients the sweet doesn't overpower the taco. The spicy Fish (Ono) is not spicy at all. Packed with toppings and very good. I probably should have added hot sauce for an extra kick. These tacos need to be eaten quickly because the homemade tortilla is thick close to a dense thick Pancake, starts to fall apart because of the killer juicy delicious toppings. When they say the tacos are big.. they mean it. I had two and they were beyond filling. The tortillas are hand made and are soft and may break apart a little but mine stayed together. My wife and kids ones broke up a little. The flavors were great. One thing I would say is the fish was a little bland. I had the pork and fish taco which was good and the savory fish. We got to this quant taco shop around 2 pm ravenous and tired. Everything looked good so we asked the cashier what they would recommend. Two items were recommended 1-the true Kalua pork 2- The kahuna. Both were amazing. The tortillas are hand made and perfectly thick so your tortilla wasn't falling apart while you ate solicitously moist tacos the size of your face. It really is Mexican cooking with a Hawaiian twist. I didn't do all five stars because I was hoping for more drink options, and our table was a little messy even though nobody had been sitting there for a while. Wow, just wow. We were kinda bummed to see they were out of chicken and the orders took awhile (20+ minutes) to get 2 tacos but when we got the tacos, we learned why they're so good. We would eat there every day. The fish taco and veggie tacos were outstanding. Like 10/10. The veggies were full of variety (green beans, zucchini, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts to name a few) and were charred and I had them made spicy. The tortilla was homemade too. So good and gluten free. My 8yo daughter liked it so much she ate half and I didn't want her to! She also loved it. If we happen by this place again, we will be back. We will bring a board game, but worth the wait. One drawback, no chips and salsa while you're waiting. I would've paid! read more
