Tikka Lounge is located in the shopping center at Poway & Community Rd. It's new, clean and brightly lit inside with flat screen TV's playing Indian TV on them. The food is mainly Southern Indian. We decided to have the buffet and it included several curry dishes and several rice/lentil dishes. All of them were well seasoned and made continuously while we were there. We spoke to a couple of men from Bangladesh who had been to Tikka Lounge before and they suggested the Lamb Curry on the buffet, so we made sure to try that. Loved the Mughlai Korma which was very delicious and the spicy level was perfect. Also had authentic Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani the best Biryani ever had in San Diego as compared to other restaurants. Ordered Qubani ka Meetha for dessert and it was mind blowing. Food was definitely subpar and over priced. Tandoori chicken was dry and had lots of tendon. Yuck! Some of the portions were not that great either compared to other Indian restaurants we've been to. The employees seemed annoyed to answer any questions or that they even had to do their job. Very disappointed all around. Wish we had another place in the area as Indian is one of our favorite cuisines but unfortunately looks like we have to go to Miramar, CMR or RB still for good Indian food. We had their catered lunch yesterday and everyone liked it so much. Eggplant curry was something that I had not tried before and definitely I will order for the next catering. Other things we ordered were, chicken tikka, chicken tandoori, samosa and naan. All were so yummy. I never had any heartburn after eating their food which I had from other Indian food from other places. Abdul was very patient with me since I kept asking him questions and changing my orders because I like all their dishes and was hard to decide to choose few out of all. I would have ordered more varieties if I had more guests. Definitely will order my next catering from them and highly recommend this place to others. Ordered the Chicken 65 for $11.99 (which looked nothing like the pictures seen here) and there were literally 10 pieces of 3/4 the size of a chicken nugget with nothing on the side, no naan or rice. Miss the wonderful buffets but at least my favorite Indian restaurant is still going. We sat at the tables in front of the store- a nice change from eating at home. Ordered the mutton hyderabadi and my standard Goto, saag paneer. Both were masterfully prepared and delicious. And the sister restaurant CHARMINAR that ,sadly just opened as covid hit, is still going but barely they told me. They have a variety of items available for the buffet, as well as two desserts. Only bummer was the soda machine was down so it was water or the drink offered with the buffet or a canned soda. What happened to this place. They used to be decent. I phoned in a order and the person that answered was pretty rude. When I picked it up, they didn't even acknowledge anyone there. It was dirty, random cleaning supplies just laying about. Dirty opened up broken soda machine. A customer who was eating there asked for a spoon and the employee just threw a bunch of plastic silverware on the counter. Then the worker was on the phone and working the register, never washed his hands and handled my food, packaging it with his bare hands. Gross. Noor was very helpful and friendly, making conversation about my kid as he was very excited that his wife was scheduled to give birth soon (congratulations!). Very tasty and delicious curries and naan. The food comes in plastic containers when you eat in the restaurant which is wasteful but we usually get take away anyway. Also if you're eating in and ask for water they give you water bottles. Food is great though. read more

It's been a couple of years since last I heard about this place. Being a former employee I can most certainly say this place had its ups and downs. The biggest one was bad owners who showed little to no respect for the people they worked for. On the other hand the food was amazing. Working here had its perks and fair share of bad days. Mainly when the owners came in and didn't owe up to the problems they caused only to point the finger and blame the staff. But that's not the point of this review. Please understand I mean no disrespect and can only say this, I truly hope that the kitchen staff is respected for the hard work they put in and that the FOH is also respected. The food from what I see looks delicious and well plated. I would come in and try it but I'm busy at the moment. I know one day I'll come in and have a taste of delicious Tikka from the place formerly known as KASI now tikka lounge.
