My son got the sloppy Joe and he didn't like it and just didn't eat it. I tasted it and I didn't like it either. It was very sweet. I got the Cajun burger (i think that was the name). It has horseradish and fried onions on it. I should have got the onions on the side because it's a lot of onions. They are good - just better on the side and then add as much on the burger as you want. I would have got some extra horseradish also. It was ok. The restaurant is very clean and tidy. The service is fine. You order at the counter and if you want a refill on your drink you go back to the counter. Plenty of parking. Nicely lit. Lots and lots of locals. Definitely use Google Maps or something to get there because the restaurant building looks like an office building and you can't really see the sign. They have a meat and three menu so I was excited about that but on a Saturday afternoon they were out of a lot of sides. I didn't choose the meat and 3 because they were out of many things.

Our waiter, Hudson, was friendly throughout the meal and did a good job providing recommendations and suggestions. I ordered the 3-Piece White Meat Plate with two breasts and a wing, along with baked beans and coleslaw. I also ordered a side of the Sweet Heat sauce for dipping. My wife ordered the Fried Mississippi Catfish with fries and coleslaw, along with jalapeño hush puppies. The fried chicken and catfish were the stars of the meal. Both came out piping hot, crispy, and well seasoned. My chicken had plenty of flavor to stand on its own, but the Sweet Heat sauce complemented it nicely and added another layer of flavor without overpowering the chicken. The French fries were excellent and easily the best side. Crispy, hot, and exactly how fries should arrive. The remaining sides didn't reach the same level. We both found the vinegar-and-mayo coleslaw somewhere between average and below average. I felt about the same about my baked beans. My wife thought the jalapeño hush puppies were average. If you want excellent hush puppies, Shrimp & Co. in Hueytown remains our standard. Both of our meals were also served with a thick slice of white bread, which fit the simple, down-home presentation. This was our second or third visit to Champy's, and the food that matters most has been excellent each time. The sides may be hit or miss, but they know how to fry some chicken and catfish. Come for the chicken and catfish, definitely get the fries, and consider the other sides supporting players.

Now let me be honest, when I pulled up and didn't see a line, I got a little nervous. Like is this a hidden gem or am I about to learn a life lesson? But curiosity won. The staff was friendly, no complaints there, but y'all know how sometimes you need that one person to say, "BABY, get THIS!" yeah, I didn't get that kind of guidance. So I went with the fried fish and fries. The fish looked like it was about to change my life. Golden, seasoned, photogenic, all that. Took a bite and it was good but I wanted a little more crunch. That's on me though, because I didn't ask for it extra crispy. Lesson learned: closed mouths don't get crispy fish. Now the fries? Whew. They came through crispy and did NOT play with me. Overall, solid 4/5. I'd definitely go back, just with a special request next time!

I would suggest more soup than rice, but it was still delicious nonetheless. All in all, Nawlins Style was pretty good. I'll definitely have to come back when they have some whiting fish. Ohh and just fyi.. they don't have yellow mustard. They only have spicy mustard. So if you want some mustard with your dish, you might want to bring your own.

I jumped at the chance to try this place out because of the reviews of other Yelpers. The restaurant is sitting on the corner of Pelham Parkway and County Road 68 East, across from The Foundry Superthrift Outlet and Dollar General, and next door to TherapySouth. It is a nice sized place and the atmosphere is welcoming. I was helped by Dyron, who seemed like he never knew a stranger. He was so kind to everyone, including those on the phone. I even heard him say, "So we got your dad covered - what can I get started for YOU?" He was excited when he found out I was a "newbie". I love the menu. Each item has some form of "hit" in the name - slappin', crackin', slammin', and more. I ended up with the "Bussin' Burger" and a side of fries to go (since I was heading back to work). The food is cooked upon ordering, so my meal was nice and hot when I left. And I am here to tell you, the name of the burger was totally accurate! It was delicious - seasoned very well, and the perfect amount of toppings. The fries were good, but that burger - so good! No wonder Hit Different is a 2026 Shelby County Small Business of the Year Nominee! They deserve it and then some! Do yourself a favor, listen to the other Yelpers, and head down Highway 31 for an amazing meal at Hit Different! I am going back!

The first time we waited around 15 minutes at a table before anyone acknowledged us, and the second time was basically the same experience sitting at the bar. Friendly service definitely wasn't the strong point here either. That said, the food honestly saved this review from being much lower. The wings had a fantastic sauce with great flavor, the fried pickles were crispy and addictive, and the fried green tomatoes were genuinely delicious with a really solid batter. Even the beers were ice cold and crisp, which fit the vibe perfectly. The biggest issue is that the pricing feels a little high for the overall experience and environment. If you're charging those kinds of prices, the cleanliness and service really need to match it better. If you're coming strictly for fried bar food and cold beer, you'll probably enjoy it. Just don't expect attentive service or a polished atmosphere.

No customers other than us at the time. The place has walk-up ordering and, after perusing the menu board for a bit, we ordered popcorn chicken with fries, wings and fish combo, and chicken hibachi to start for 4 people. Pros - staff is nice, the food is served REALLY hot, and the portion is large. Cons - everything else. The food is truly terrible. I am really wondering if they had an off-day as the place came so highly recommended and it does have some positive reviews. So I am truly puzzled. The popcorn chicken was hard and dry. My daughter banged a piece of it against the table to demonstrate how hard it was and the nugget did not give. The wing was also very dry. Basically both were very over-fried. The fish was not over-fried, but very fishy. The fries were the best out of both combo and that were only average. We did not finish any of it. The chicken hibachi was also average at best. Fried rice was mushy. The noodle was okay but tasted like a soy sauce based seasoning and that's it. The hibachi chicken was okay. The vegetables were decent. Overall, I really can't recommend, not even for a casual meal.
