Stuck at the Buffalo airport for hours in needing a snack. I decide to go for something sweet and try out Tim Hortons. We planned during our entire trip in Canada to try it, but never found the opportunity so this was my last chance. The staff was about as friendly as you'd expect airport works to be, clearly not wanting to be there, they begrudgingly took order. I got a 10 pack of their donut holes, "Tim Bits". Trying 2 of each flavor available, all were great and filled my sweet tooth craving. Having grown up in the north east, I've always been a Dunkin' Donuts man, and these were right on or with Dunkin Donuts. Good quality, consistent flavor, not too sweet, just right. Being from Boise, all we have is our local coffee shops, Starbucks and Dutch Brothers. Since we are on the east coast, I have been able to try Dunkin' and now Tim Hortons since these aren't fun options for us in our neck of the woods. This little coffee stand in the airport had quite a few options for breakfast sammy, donuts and drinks. The donuts looked really good but i passed on them today. I just really wanted to try their coffee. I see their drinks all over Tik Tok so of course I had to get one. I'm going to be brutally honest, I felt confused when I ordered an iced mocha. To me, an iced mocha is your basic chocolate, milk and espresso shot. So when I ordered an iced mocha with the cashier and she asked me if I wanted milk it was quite confusing. And to make matters worse, the "trainer" decided to educate me and let me know mocha means chocolate. I chuckled and went along with it. Nothing like being belittled while you're ordering the most basic drink. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I got my small iced mocha with milk. I can't believe I paid 4 bucks for this thing. I've dealt with bad airport service before, but the employees at Tim Hortons in Buffalo Niagara International Airport take it to another level. The customer service is, at best, terrible. The staff comes across as rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in helping customers. Simple questions are met with attitude, and it often feels like you're inconveniencing them just by placing an order. There's no friendliness, no professionalism--just a general sense that they don't want to be there and don't care if your experience is awful. What makes it worse is that this isn't an isolated incident. After reading other reviews and experiencing it firsthand, it's clear this is a pattern. Management should really take note, because this kind of behavior reflects poorly on the entire brand. Plenty of travelers are already stressed--this place just adds to it. Acceptable sandwiches and burritos but poor pastries! Good for quick come and go ordering which is completed at a separate location across from the food displays and pick up. This is great for reducing long waits during busy moments but the kiosk machines are not easy for everyone. The machine also do not provide orders with all of the options. I ordered the grilled burrito (sounds healthy but that just means grilled tortilla marks). This could come in bacon or sausage versions and the kiosk does not allow you to choose this. I guess the cashier misheard me as she handed me a large latte and charged me $5. I reiterated that i ordered a large lemonade and not a large latte. After she re made my order I inquired about the clear price difference between a large latte and a large lemonade. A FULL $2. As I pointed to the very menu behind her head showing the clear price difference, she continued to INSIST that the prices were the same and "that was an old menu". Yeah ok. I then got off the line and stood to the side to pull up the tim hortons app which very clearly shared the same prices as the "old" menu behind the cashier. I went back up to her and asked the employee next to her about the price difference between a large lemonade and a large latte. Knowing there was a difference, he kindly got the manager as little miss liar stood silently on the side. The manager gave me a refund for the latte i never ordered (and yet was charged for) as I informed her that her employee just tried to hoodwink me as if i was an idiot. The refund receipt said the cashier's name was dexter but I never caught her name myself as her tag was flipped during our interaction. Went to the airport location in need of sugar to mitigate jet lag. Unfortunately, I encountered two of the rudest female employees- one black and the other appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent. Generally, I'd refrain from referencing gender/race in a review unless I found it necessary. Unfortunately, it's necessary to reference race because the black woman made it an issue. I went to a relatively empty counter to ask a menu related question when a group of young women ran in behind me. No problem, because I was first- but no, huge problem because the employee NEVER acknowledged my presence. Since I had a long layover, I decided to patiently wait it out (to no avail.) When I realized that I would never be acknowledged, I finally asked if the employee was going to help me. But alas, she and the black employee thought it more prudent to have a personal discussion without acknowledging the customers in front of them. I then had a polite conversation with one of the employees when the black employee interrupted with an aggressive stance and called me "entitled" for assuming that I should be helped?!? I'm still unsure why she misused the word, because entitlement would've caused me to act out- not patiently allow others to cut me in line while clearly being ignored. Taken aback, I reminded her that the conversation was polite and between myself and her coworker. She was overly aggressive and escalated a situation that was peaceful. My concern was that the donuts in the display case appeared to have been dropped as the frosting was smudged and I was unsure if it was old or damaged product. Nevertheless, there was no point asking an argumentative person a legitimate question when they're prone to random outbursts. Throughout my trip, I saw several locations and none displayed the awful products presented at this location. What was the cure you ask? A frozen watermelon lemonade and a maple sausage waffle sandwich thing that I forgot the actual name of, but real recognize real, right? Tim Horton's I love you! We showed up at 4am on a Saturday and the employees were pleasant and courteous. I ordered the sausage, egg and cheese bagel with vanilla iced coffee. He asked me if I wanted cream in it. Apparently it is not made like it is in Canada so you need to tell them to jazz up your drink with cream and sugar, because they just make it black even though it's vanilla iced coffee. Glad he forewarned me so we could add some good stuff to it. The bagel was good and the hash browns that come with it is different than the Canadian side. I forgot about that. It's not one hash brown, but hash brown sticks. Didn't matter to me as it was still good. We enjoyed our early morning coffee and food. For those who are in a hurry, there is an express cart with just Tim Horton's coffee and mini donut holes in a box. I am sure those who just want coffee appreciate the express cart. I was surprised to see TH sign this week, and quickly zoomed to get a English muffin with egg and cheese. Flavor is ok but that what you get for, and I don't complain as jut to fill up my earlier morning stomach. Even at 6 am, there already is a line up here, but they move quite fast. Slow service, baked goods not fully stocked. Not sure how long this Tim Hortons has been in the airport, but every time I've walked by it lines have been horribly long, except for once, when I recently gave it a chance during a non-peak time. There were 5 people ahead of me and I spent more time in line than I did checking in my bag and going through security, combined. I realized once it was my turn that it wasn't due to the customers, it was 100% the cashier, so slow. I ordered a dark roast coffee black, waited a second, then asked for a donut when she stopped me and took forever just to put in that I wanted a coffee. Not sure if their registers are more complicated at this location or what, but just to order two things literally took her over a minute to put into the register. There were other people working but they didn't open a second register until after I got up there. The best part of having an airport Tim Hortons is not spending an arm and a leg for a decent coffee and snack. While prices are appreciated, the selection is grim. No soy or nonmilk options for the lactose intolerant folks. Ugh. I must have visited at an off peak time during the week because there was barely a line and the donut case was pretty stocked. There were three workers. One was "missing" and the other two were debating who should make what. Staff appears young and not too dedicated to their job duties. Took a couple of minutes for my tea but not terrible wait time. I'm not sure if this is a new Tim Horton thing but my tea was not double cupped. I'm from a state where we don't have Tim Hortons. While in the Buffalo area this past week I have been to several Tim Hortons. I will say most of them I have gone to the staff are not very friendly. That being said I had an early flight out of Buffalo this morning so I stopped for a Tim Hortons breakfast one last time before heading back to Washington state. The breakfast was more than dissatisfying. The Hash-brown sticks were cold and soggy and the sausage biscuit was very dry and cold.
