Second time to Timber. First time last month was a 5 star experience from food quality and ambiance to service. Went back tonight and definitely was not as good. Service was incredibly slow and we weren't in a hurry so no big deal but it did take FOREVER for the waiter to take our order and then for the food to come out. Maybe they were short staffed tonight (???) but a little disappointed. All in all it's a good spot and will likely come back! read more

Located at the Residence Inn Bangor, Timber Kitchen and Bar is a great place with a classy yet laid-back ambience. It has a lot of seats and a bar. Our server Aiden was very welcoming and attentive. Three Pigs Pizza which had sausage, prosciutto and pepperoni was very good. Logger Burger also did not disappoint. The toasted brioche was good. It comes with your choice of cheese. Their price is reasonable. Overall, it has good ambience, food and service and deserves a 4/5. read more

Upscale dining for Bangor! My husband and I visited on our way out of town for an outdoors trip, arriving shortly after they opened at 11:00am. We were promptly seated, without a reservation, however reservations are highly recommended. The menu offers a wide selection of American cuisine and seafood at market price. Our servers, Gracie and Liv, were professional and knowledgeable. I don't want to confuse the trainer with the trainee, however, the training server was well-trained for this quality of dining in this area. The new server seemed like she will be a great addition to the well-seasoned staff. All of the staff appeared professional and in appropriate attire. I ordered the TKB Dip with sweet potato fries and my husband ordered the Spicy Downeaster Burger with sweet potato fries. The quality of their food is excellent! The prices are fair and match the taste and the presentation. The interior of the inside is clean and cozy! If you have guests from out of town or are dining with friends, Timber offers an eye pleasing esthetic for photos. The only downside to our experience were the other guests who seemed offended we were not quite within dress code. The restaurant staff themselves did not seem to mind we were underdressed. Although Timber is lumberjack themed, check your flannels and L.L. Bean boots at the door or be prepared for some less than friendly looks- and comments. read more

Nestled right next to a Residence Inn is this lively restaurant with surprisingly good food. Who knew? With seating both inside and out, we took a table outside since the weather was great. And, as soon as we sat down, our waiter promptly took care of us. As we reviewed the menu, we found a lot of great options. So, we decided to order a lot of different items. All of it was quite good. What a surprise place for a restaurant in a hotel. There was a 20 min wait for 2, but then 2 seats opened up at the bar. The food was AMAZING. We had the Brussel sprouts buffalo style and the point Judith calamari, the portions were big and we couldn't finish. The white pizza was so good and crispy thin crust..... drinks were great. Restaurant is in a Marriott affiliated hotel directly. Across from the Cross Center in downtown Bangor. We had a large group among a lot of other large groups so it was very noisy . That said: Our group had varied dishes and all were enthusiastic about them. Steak salad, Lobster Cobb Salad, Short ribs, calamari, Prime Rib, Fish and Chips. Each was beautifully presented, and well prepared. Considering how many people were being served that night i was gobsmacked with the consistency. The positive testament was in the 9 clean plates that were returned to the kitchen. They have a nice wine and beer selection. None of us had mixed drinks, but i expect them to be equivalent in preparation and presentation as their liquor list is extensive. Yes, I'll go back. And by myself too. No about the servers and staff? Well trained, very affable, and most accommodating. Even while they were running around waiting on other tables we did not feel our party of 9 was neglected. They told me in a condescending tone to make sure to eat and leave in 2.5 hours as they need our table for someone else. First: one doesn't need 2.5 hours for lunch with 2 little kids. Second: you never say that at a restaurant unless the guest was late for their reservation and even then you preface with the fact that you are very busy. Third: do not discuss VERY personal/private matters with coworkers within earshot of guests. Fourth: offer menus to guests to look over while they wait. Fifth: do not serve food in broken serve ware. One would think that these kids would engage some common sense before making first impressions and representing the hotel and restaurant. read more

Came into town with a coworker decided to check the spot out. We started with the lobster and corn dip. It was pretty good however, the cheese was overwhelming. Nice chunks of lobster in there. I also had to go with the Maine lobster bisque. It was good but not great surprisingly. They had a few pieces of lobster, but I wouldn't get it again. For entrées, I got the crab stuffed haddock and my coworker. Got the surf and turf. We both enjoyed our entrées. For dessert we got the tart. It was excellent probably the best thing that we had the whole meal. I highly recommend it. The service was good. We sat outside as the weather was enjoyable. This one is hard to rate because it was good but not great and for the price I feel like it should have been better. Parking was a bit of a pain so be prepared for that if you are coming during a busy time. We were seated outside and then forgotten about for a while. Eventually we got drink orders in and I was glad to find some hot alcoholic beverages on the menu because the heaters and blankets weren't cutting it. Service remained slow. Drinks were good. My husband liked the surf and turf and my chicken was ok but a bit dry. To start the year on a high note, we made reservations for dinner at Timber Kitchen and Bar. The place came very highly recommended by an old friend of mine, and it happened to be attached to the hotel I stayed at briefly. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the place has a very classy vibe. We sat outside in our own private (heated) "dome" where the "woodsy" theme continued. The menu offers a variety of elevated fare including their signature brick oven pizzas. I made a mental note about the pizzas, then read on for something more suitable to mood. My friend and I started off with the a bowl each of the Smoked Seafood Chowder (Littleneck Clams, Cold Water Shrimp, Haddock, Sweet Corn, Smoked Bacon, Potatoes, Stewed Cream, Crumbled Chowder Crackers). It was excellent! We then shared two entrées - the 24-Hour Short Rib "Filet" (Torched Blue Cheese Crust, Whipped Potatoes, Hand-Dug Root Vegetables, Crispy Parsnip, Red Wine Butter) and the Creekstone Farms Ribeye (Sea Salt, Olive Oil & Rosemary Crust, Whipped Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus, Wild Mushrooms, Bone Broth). Both dishes were a testament to Chef Albert's exceptional culinary skills, but the unquestionable star of our meal was the Short Rib. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, it was melt-in-your mouth tender, and the best instance of that dish I've had in longer than I can remember. Tip: The prices here are a bit on the high side, but when you consider the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the service, it's worth every penny :-) Our dining experience was perfect from beginning to end, and I won't hesitate to return! read more

I've been a loyal customer at Timber for the past couple of years and have always loved the food, but my most recent visit left me deeply disappointed. I went with my partner, who is deaf. As someone still learning ASL (about six months in), I often need a little extra time to communicate with him while ordering. Our waiter was visibly impatient and unwelcoming from the start. When I asked about light IPAs, he quickly said, "it's the one we have," and brought out a dark amber beer instead. I gently asked again on behalf of my partner, framing it as though it may have been my misunderstanding, and only then did he reluctantly bring out a lighter option. The bartender later came over and, in a curt tone, explained that normally customers are charged for mistakes but that he would "make an exception" and remove the dark beer from our bill. I was appreciative and remained polite, but when the bill arrived, the incorrect beer was still on it. When I spoke up to the waiter on behalf of my deaf partner, the bartender returned 35-40 minutes after our original conversation and told us he would not be removing it after all. Instead, we were forced to pay for a beer my partner never ordered or drank, and they poured a second one rather than simply resolving the situation with empathy. The entire experience was shocking and frustrating. Timber is clearly not a deaf or hard-of-hearing-friendly establishment. There was no attempt at patience, understanding, or accommodation. What could have been a simple solution turned into a situation where we felt singled out, dismissed, and disrespected. To make matters worse, as we left, six employees stood chatting at the front; highlighting that they had plenty of time to be attentive, but chose not to extend courtesy or care to us as paying customers. I never imagined I would say this about Timber, but I cannot recommend this restaurant. Until they train their staff in basic inclusivity, respect, and empathy, particularly toward members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community, I would caution others against dining here read more

Popovers, carving station, and the egg in the Benedict were all massively overcooked. The cranberry sauce, donuts, pancakes, and potatoes were very under-seasoned. Salt? Sugar? Hollandaise was made well, bacon was cooked perfectly. Maybe it's just the brunch they fail at. Haven't been here for any other meals and I don't think I will. Pretty lovely experience! This place is beautiful, big but cozy. Feels elegant. I sat in the bar and found great service and good food. I had a chicken sandwich that was a little greasy, but delicious. The chipotle mayo wasn't spicy but I was happy for that. The lobster bisque had an okay amount of lobster pieces and tasted very good. I would love to try more of their menu items. They did have a pretty extensive menu. read more

If we were allowed half stars I would probably give this place 3.5. Family and I drove in from NY and on our way in needed someplace to stop and eat. We were a family of 6, and got there at 6pm with no reservation. They said they could seat us right away, but we'd have to be done by 7:30 since they had a reservation at the time. We agreed because we figured it wouldn't take that long to order. We ordered appetizers immediately and our dinner probably about 10 min after sitting down. Our food took a very long time to come out, and it was about 7:05 by the time we got our food. Luckily we didn't want dessert, because we wouldn't have had time to order! Also not sure why it took so long because a few of our food items were cold, so it was probably done and sitting in the kitchen for a while. The drinks were good and the food was hit or miss. My sisters hamburger was cold. My French dip was solid. The salmon salad was good but the salmon was very small and hardly any dressing. My cousin got a barbecue pizza which did not taste good at ALL. It also wasn't as advertised (no burrata). However our waiter was very kind and took the pizza off the bill. The manager came over as well and apologized. Our appetizers (calamari and buffalo dip) were also good. I would give this place another chance if I'm ever in the area again- it was crowded, with modern and nice furniture, and seemed well-liked by the other patrons, but I'd be wary about certain dishes for sure. read more
