Came into town with a coworker decided to check the spot out. We started with the lobster and corn dip. It was pretty good however, the cheese was overwhelming. Nice chunks of lobster in there. I also had to go with the Maine lobster bisque. It was good but not great surprisingly. They had a few pieces of lobster, but I wouldn't get it again. For entrées, I got the crab stuffed haddock and my coworker. Got the surf and turf. We both enjoyed our entrées. For dessert we got the tart. It was excellent probably the best thing that we had the whole meal. I highly recommend it. The service was good. We sat outside as the weather was enjoyable. To start the year on a high note, we made reservations for dinner at Timber Kitchen and Bar. The place came very highly recommended by an old friend of mine, and it happened to be attached to the hotel I stayed at briefly. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the place has a very classy vibe. We sat outside in our own private (heated) "dome" where the "woodsy" theme continued. The menu offers a variety of elevated fare including their signature brick oven pizzas. I made a mental note about the pizzas, then read on for something more suitable to mood. My friend and I started off with the a bowl each of the Smoked Seafood Chowder (Littleneck Clams, Cold Water Shrimp, Haddock, Sweet Corn, Smoked Bacon, Potatoes, Stewed Cream, Crumbled Chowder Crackers). It was excellent! We then shared two entrées - the 24-Hour Short Rib "Filet" (Torched Blue Cheese Crust, Whipped Potatoes, Hand-Dug Root Vegetables, Crispy Parsnip, Red Wine Butter) and the Creekstone Farms Ribeye (Sea Salt, Olive Oil & Rosemary Crust, Whipped Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus, Wild Mushrooms, Bone Broth). Both dishes were a testament to Chef Albert's exceptional culinary skills, but the unquestionable star of our meal was the Short Rib. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, it was melt-in-your mouth tender, and the best instance of that dish I've had in longer than I can remember. This one is hard to rate because it was good but not great and for the price I feel like it should have been better. Parking was a bit of a pain so be prepared for that if you are coming during a busy time. We were seated outside and then forgotten about for a while. Eventually we got drink orders in and I was glad to find some hot alcoholic beverages on the menu because the heaters and blankets weren't cutting it. Service remained slow. Drinks were good. My husband liked the surf and turf and my chicken was ok but a bit dry. I think it it was slower maybe everything would have been better so try to come during non-peak times if you want to enjoy your experience. read more

I've been a loyal customer at Timber for the past couple of years and have always loved the food, but my most recent visit left me deeply disappointed. I went with my partner, who is deaf. As someone still learning ASL (about six months in), I often need a little extra time to communicate with him while ordering. Our waiter was visibly impatient and unwelcoming from the start. When I asked about light IPAs, he quickly said, "it's the one we have," and brought out a dark amber beer instead. I gently asked again on behalf of my partner, framing it as though it may have been my misunderstanding, and only then did he reluctantly bring out a lighter option. The bartender later came over and, in a curt tone, explained that normally customers are charged for mistakes but that he would "make an exception" and remove the dark beer from our bill. I was appreciative and remained polite, but when the bill arrived, the incorrect beer was still on it. When I spoke up to the waiter on behalf of my deaf partner, the bartender returned 35-40 minutes after our original conversation and told us he would not be removing it after all. Instead, we were forced to pay for a beer my partner never ordered or drank, and they poured a second one rather than simply resolving the situation with empathy. The entire experience was shocking and frustrating. Timber is clearly not a deaf or hard-of-hearing-friendly establishment. There was no attempt at patience, understanding, or accommodation. What could have been a simple solution turned into a situation where we felt singled out, dismissed, and disrespected. To make matters worse, as we left, six employees stood chatting at the front; highlighting that they had plenty of time to be attentive, but chose not to extend courtesy or care to us as paying customers. I never imagined I would say this about Timber, but I cannot recommend this restaurant. Until they train their staff in basic inclusivity, respect, and empathy, particularly toward members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community, I would caution others against dining here read more

While spending a short time in Bangor the other day before our flight home, we enjoyed a really delicious lunch at Timber Kitchen and Bar, a beautiful space with a "woodsy" charm. Calamari, lobster bisque, fantastic burger, Timber salad with blueberries...a great final taste of Maine! Service was excellent. Went for the Sunday brunch. They give you a *ton* of food but is it worth it when everything is bland or overcooked? Popovers, carving station, and the egg in the Benedict were all massively overcooked. The cranberry sauce, donuts, pancakes, and potatoes were very under-seasoned. Salt? Sugar? Hollandaise was made well, bacon was cooked perfectly. Maybe it's just the brunch they fail at. Haven't been here for any other meals and I don't think I will. Pretty lovely experience! This place is beautiful, big but cozy. Feels elegant. I sat in the bar and found great service and good food. I had a chicken sandwich that was a little greasy, but delicious. The chipotle mayo wasn't spicy but I was happy for that. The lobster bisque had an okay amount of lobster pieces and tasted very good. I would love to try more of their menu items. They did have a pretty extensive menu. read more

Nick, our waiter was amazing, he was full of smiles. We told him about our allergies and he answered any and all questions. We were seated in the corner by the fire, very cozy and just a great ambiance. The food was much better than last time. Like I said, nightly crew just does it better than the day crew. We are local and Timber is a GoTo place for us. No reservations for less than 6. Can get very busy as the evening progresses, but we arrived at 5:30 and were seated immediately. Last night was our anniversary celebration. Could not have been more enjoyable. Service was excellent. Our server was a young woman who was in her first week of unsupervised service. Did not miss a beat. She had a remarkable grasp of the details of the menu, describing the seared Ahi tuna dish to a "T". During our meal the Manager checked in with us to ask if they were meeting our expectations. Nice touch. Excellent bar cocktails. Wine by the bottle as well as the glass and "jug". The bottle list is varied and pretty extensive. We had a Rombauer Chardonnay which paired perfectly with the slightly spiced menu items we ordered. Portions are substantial. Take home boxes available. Last note, the pacing of the service was totally focused on our pace. We were never rushed and between each course had a moment to relax and talk. If we were allowed half stars I would probably give this place 3.5. Family and I drove in from NY and on our way in needed someplace to stop and eat. We were a family of 6, and got there at 6pm with no reservation. They said they could seat us right away, but we'd have to be done by 7:30 since they had a reservation at the time. We agreed because we figured it wouldn't take that long to order. We ordered appetizers immediately and our dinner probably about 10 min after sitting down. Our food took a very long time to come out, and it was about 7:05 by the time we got our food. Luckily we didn't want dessert, because we wouldn't have had time to order! Also not sure why it took so long because a few of our food items were cold, so it was probably done and sitting in the kitchen for a while. The drinks were good and the food was hit or miss. My sisters hamburger was cold. My French dip was solid. The salmon salad was good but the salmon was very small and hardly any dressing. My cousin got a barbecue pizza which did not taste good at ALL. It also wasn't as advertised (no burrata). However our waiter was very kind and took the pizza off the bill. The manager came over as well and apologized. Our appetizers (calamari and buffalo dip) were also good. I would give this place another chance if I'm ever in the area again- it was crowded, with modern and nice furniture, and seemed well-liked by the other patrons, but I'd be wary about certain dishes for sure. read more

The burgers were wonderful, they have plenty of GF options (pizza, fires, sandwiches, burgers, proteins, and salads), and I was told that the fish and chips are also delicious (sadly, I couldn't try for myself because it's not GF). The vibes are immaculate, the food is delicious, and there are plenty of options to suit most anyone. Definitely worth checking it out! I would suggest a table near the fire. It gets loud in there but it's fun and the food is fantastic. We use the last room for family gatherings. You got to ask for it early it books up quickly. Food was very good. Loved the vibe and decor. Definitely one of the finest places to eat in Bangor. It is always very busy which does create some challenges for wait times but the wait staff compensates for this because they are very attentive. I think the menu is a little wild - I'd like to see in paired down to know what they specialize in. It bridges this gap of being both posh dining but also catering to everyone and I think the voice gets lost a bit in terms of my understanding as a guest of what their chef's speciality is here. Located in Residence Inn this restaurant was quite a surprise. You never know exactly what to expect at a restaurant next to a hotel but the reviews were good and the menu looked interesting so we gave it a try. We were seated immediately and chose outside to experience the Bangor evening. Our waiter had fantastic timing and knew the menu very well including the local beers. He was also adept at describing which options from the menu could easily be made vegan. I had a beer from Allagash located in Portland. It was very good. My husband chose two locally brewed IPAs. For appetizers I had the hummus sans cheese and he had the calamari. The calamari was very good and the sauce had a nice kick. The hummus was....well...it was hummus. Dinner consisted of the Timber Harvest Bowl for me and the Timber Burger for my husband. I had the Bowl without cheese making it vegan and the burger came with Parmesan fries for an extra $2. All the food was hot where it needed to be and my bowl was cold where it should have been cold. The bean burger on the bowl had a nice flavor and the other components went very well together. We loved the little details like slabs of wood to serve food and a wood bowl for my entree. Cutlery was unique as well. Overall a great experience and if we ever have occasion to come back through Bangor we would definitely come back and we recommend for sure! read more

We were visiting Bangor. My wife researched and discovered Timber then our choice was confirmed and highly recommended at our hotel. Until we drove up, we didn't know it e was part of a different hotel. My very first impression started a little rocky at the host table personed by young folk, but a little patience on my part got us past that. They were trying, and with a little more training and experience, they'll be fine. Once we were seated, things improved wonderfully. We had a very nice meal, with good service from Ethan. Also enjoyed a drink from the bar. The next day, we travelled all day to northern Maine and ended up passing through Bangor on our way back south to Bar Harbor (it was a long day). Yep, we stopped at Timber for a second time and enjoyed another dinner. We sat one table away from "our" table and struck up a conversation with the party next to us. That, and the ambiance, all added to a memorable experience. The next time we're in Bangor, Timber will definitely be a stop. read more
